this has been my favorite case so far:
http://smile.amazon.com/Ringke-Absorption-Technology-Anti-Scratch-Protection/dp/B014RS5BHW/ref=sr_1_5?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1451311472&sr=1-5&keywords=nexus+5x+case
the button pressing action has been really nice--minimal resistance. the case itself is very customizable as you can use the template with any background or picture.

phone for use in my car:
http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B003PPGOC0?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_act_title_1&smid=A14FAFDFPQKMIV
best FM transmitter i've ever found, and highly reviewed via wirecutter.
i don't actually own this dash mount but man, do i want it. game changer. http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00RDQVPTY/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=3OJFHJG4QML3E&coliid=I10BBT1M2MULXT&psc=1
this http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00M6QODH2?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00 and this http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00S8GU2OC?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s01 make a pretty sweet car charging duo. the cable isn't flimsy, it's affordable, and spec compliant.
if one would be blessed not to need an fm transmitter on their automobile, i really like this http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00PTZEON0/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=3OJFHJG4QML3E&coliid=INI8K30WP9S4L&psc=1

finally, as you start playing around with ROMS (to improve device performance as stock is pretty buggy and not particularly bueno with respect to battery life) you'll inevitably start making backups in twrp. you'll need to. those take up a lot of space. to ameliorate that, i suggest these: http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00ZWN64RS/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=3OJFHJG4QML3E&coliid=I1YYV3CE6VXPNB&psc=1, http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00YFI1EBC?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00

oh! there's also a pleson tempered glass screen protector on amazon for the 5x. it came in last week but i still haven't had a chance to install it. cheap and very highly reviewed.

u/brycedriesenga · 3 pointsr/nexus5x

Just got a 5X myself a week or so ago.

For car chargers, I really like this one by AUKEY. Pretty good all-rounder that has USB-C and can charge your other devices as well.

I also picked up this cable combo by Anker which includes a USB-C to USB-C 2.0 and a USB-C to USB-A 3.0.

With the stock charger and the aforementioned items, I feel like I'm pretty set for charging wherever/whenever I need to.

Also, I picked up [these tempered glass screen protectors] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01D9EMSGC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) which are a great price and go on very well. I even messed up installation with two tries (got a speck of dust under the second one still) and the company is sending me another pack to try again for free!

Great question. I use:

Charger: Aukey CC-T8. It has worked fairly well. Charging is slow while I'm using GPS and Bluetooth, but it works. I use the USB-A to -C cable that Google gave out with their Fi Lego set last fall.

Mount: WizGear Extra Slim Universal magnetic mount. I have it stuck at an angle on the top of my gear shift. Puts the phone in a convenient spot, and is out of the way when not in use.

I put the larger of the included plates under the back cover of the phone, and it mounts great to this (and other) magnetic mounts, and does not interfere with any antennas.

Case: RhinoShield CrashGuard. I'm satisfied with the protection, and this doesn't interfere with the metal plate & magnet. (Obviously with a standard case, you can put the metal plate between the case and the phone.)

This was a great question. I'm looking forward to seeing other's responses.

I love wallet cases, been using one for the last 3 years. I walk around with 2 things: my phone/wallet and my keys.

http://www.amazon.com/Nexus-Abacus24-7-Wallet-Series-Leather/dp/B0151X7Z6C?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00

I got my 5x on blackfriday and ordered this case the same week. Been using it ever since and it's great. Slots are a bit snug, so stuff in 3-4 CC's the first night to stretch it out a bit. After that, it'll hold 2 in each slot easily.

Quite durable and the phone is secured well. I've dropped the phone a few times without any damage.

u/gobikerider · 1 pointr/nexus5x

I have the Cruzerlite Bugdroid case and I love it, it has a cool design and matte finish on the back but the edges of the case are tpu for durability and easy on and off. This case is 10 bucks on Amazon and highly recommended http://www.amazon.com/Nexus-Cruzerlite-Bugdroid-Circuit-Compatible/dp/B014QTEDRQ?th=0

u/MrSelatcia · 1 pointr/nexus5x

I have two of these now and they are great.

Also have two of these and they are great as well.

u/OmarTheTerror · 1 pointr/nexus5x

I got this one, Benson approved. It's kinda thin, but I got it for my desk at work. Works fine.

If you're getting one for use with a battery pack, I'd probably get a thicker one.

If you haven't gotten a battery pack, I got this and really like it.

Obviously, it'd be smart to have at least 1 usb A to C cable for when you're out and about in case you have to use somebody's standard usb charger.

u/push2flush · 1 pointr/nexus5x

I really like this one, it has a nice range of motion and is easy to take out when you need to;

u/pmrichardson4 · 1 pointr/nexus5x

I have this one, it's been pretty great. No damage to the phone since getting it and it raises the phone just slightly on the front to protect the glass and enough on the back to protect the camera.

The cimo slim on Amazon look the closest. I have the black case. I also have a verus case. The cimo black is a nice matte finish no branding. However, the "bumper" is shiny black plastic prone to scratching. Hitting it with something mildly abrasive should get a matte finish too. They do have a translucent/frosted version too. I haven't seen one to tell you what I think of it. Seems like decent protection. I think the verus is nicer and offers better drop protection since it is thicker.

u/TheKingj2 · 2 pointsr/nexus5x

Yes, The Nexus 5x port is USB 2.0. You can use 2.0 cables with no issues, as they should perform equally well on the 5x. I find that since USB C is also new tech, they are marketing largely to macbooks with USB 3.1 compatible USB C ports. You might not find significant price differences between 2.0 and 3.0 cables. These Anker cables are really nice, Benson Leung approved, and not super expensive, while being 3.0 cables (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01A6F3WHG).

OTG. ????

Car charger: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B018TGGH4E?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_sfl_title_1&smid=A142BGUZC6UH73
Looks and feels like quality piece. Works with 5x,6p (fast charging) Made by qualcomm.

Apple doesn't make cables. That is farmed out like everything else.

u/octobereighth · 1 pointr/nexus5x

Spigen tempered glass screen protector and a Diztronic case. I'm glad I decided not to go naked because my protector has a huge scratch on it right now, and that scratch would have been on the screen otherwise!

u/emouse · 1 pointr/nexus5x

I got mine about a month ago and have been using this one: http://www.amazon.com/Cimo-Matte-Flexible-Cover-Google/dp/B015EH65BQ/

So far, so good. I got this one because it's fairly minimal, there's no branding on the case and it has individual cutouts for the fingerprint sensor/camera/flash rather than the mono cutout that some cases have. I also like that it has a slight lip on the front and around the camera lens so when I put it down, it's not directly on the screen or lens.

So far I haven't dropped the phone, so I don't know how it'll hold up, but I generally put on a screen protector (switched over to a tempered glass one for the 5x) and case just for peace of mind when it comes to minor scratches from general use.

u/n81acc · 2 pointsr/nexus5x

I really like my Diztronic case. They advertise the "lay on the table" design because of its lip. It's protected my phone's screen many times after my toddler and I have dropped it.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0176S4DMY/

My wife has a Nexus 6P and the Speck case for it is very similar. Here it is for the Nexus 5X.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B015XIIIF2/

u/JJMcGee83 · 2 pointsr/nexus5x

I bought this charger
http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00SZHOI8U
And one of these cables
http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01706YAXY
And when I plug my 5X in it says charging rapidly or whatever.

The cable was on the list of good cables in the spreadsheet at the top so I took a chance with the charger and it seems to be ok. That said I don't know how well it would work if you actually used both USBs on the charger at once.

u/tehsamsquantch · 1 pointr/nexus5x

That's exactly it, the case feels and looks great. I had dropped the phone a few times prior, but onto softer flooring. This time it was tile.

It appears to have landed directly on the left side, with maybe a bit more towards the top. The cracks sweep across left to right.

I had this screen protector on as well: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01781GRBE

u/Oklahsam · 1 pointr/nexus5x

Got this for my Nexus 6. Works great with my 5x too.

u/mntnbkr · 3 pointsr/nexus5x

This is the one that I use. It works well. I use it to connect a WD portable hard drive. The phone supplies power to the drive, no external power required.

u/kingkake · 2 pointsr/nexus5x

I got this one for my son recently. Specs are pretty similar to the 5x, but the camera isn't quite as nice. Otherwise a nice phone.
https://www.amazon.com/Nextbit-Robin-Factory-Unlocked-Smartphone/dp/B01D9LVCAI

u/ydnolb4 · 1 pointr/nexus5x

I think you're going to have a hard time finding one for that cheap. I just got this one that outputs the full 5v/3a and it works great.

u/burdobarde · 2 pointsr/nexus5x

I just searched "nexus 5x usb cable" on amazon and it was the first result. It allows me to plug my device directly to my PC, or chargers like the Nexus 6 one I mentioned.

[USB Type C Cable (3FT), TechMatte USB 3.0 Type C to Type A (USB-C to USB) Cable for HTC 10, Nexus 5X, 6P, LG G5 (3 Feet, Black)] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016XK6O82/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_JtcvxbY3PSX0N)

If you have prime, they're even better.

Apparently the spreadsheet has affiliate links in it and my previous post got removed, so here's hoping this one will stick.

Here's a spreadsheet with various accessories: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1wJwqv3rTNmORXz-XJsQaXK1dl8I91V4-eP_sfNVNzbA/htmlview?usp=sharing&sle=true

You can also test cables yourself with the following app by connecting your phone to a computer with the app open: https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/in-sight-labs/checkr/

I can personally recommend these: http://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerLine-Resistor-Including-ChromeBook/dp/B01A6F3WHG/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1462298101&sr=8-2-spons&keywords=Anker+USB-C&psc=1 bought several, scattered them around the house and use them with different chargers.

u/Hentai_Bowtie · 5 pointsr/nexus5x

I use these yoozon cables, and I also have one of these iOrange cables as well. Both benson approved and I've had no issues with either

u/forthewin0 · 1 pointr/nexus5x

Hmm not sure how that would help though... If the calibrator has a USB A female port, you need a USB C male to USB A male. Basically something like this. I live in the US though, so I'm not sure where else to get cables other than Amazon :P

Here's something that hasn't been mentioned: Nextbit Robin

It's going for $170 on Amazon. It's got an extra GB of RAM but doesn't run pure Android out of the box (there are pure Android ROMs available). The fingerprint scanner is on the side of the device.

EDIT: provided link to Amazon

u/dederplicator · 2 pointsr/nexus5x

Diztronic it adds a bit of grip to the phone without making it hard to remove from your pocket.

All I've really found so far are the Anker PowerCore+ mentioned already, and this one from RAVPower:

https://www.amazon.com/Qualcomm-Certified-RAVPower-20100mAh-Portable/dp/B019IFIJW8/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1466222955&sr=8-11&keywords=usb-c+power+bank

I just ordered the RAVPower. If it doesn't work, I will return it and get the Anker.

Buy one of these babies https://www.amazon.com/Qualcomm-RAVPower-20100mAh-Portable-External/dp/B0156HCJQO/ref=dp_ob_title_wld

It works wonders and has fast charge. And has plenty of juice for several other devices.

u/lejazzvp · 1 pointr/nexus5x

You could try a mic that plugs into the audio jack (like THIS for example) but I think that if you get an USB OTG type C to type A cable (like THIS) you could plug in any USB mic as long as it doesn't draw too much power.

u/sbharnish · 1 pointr/nexus5x

I have this one.

It's a little more expensive for the same mAh but has USB-C in addition to microUSB. I get "charging rapidly" on my 5X when using the USB-C or when using a high quality cord in one of the USB A outlets.

u/tenbsmith · 1 pointr/nexus5x

The Cruzerlite case is $10 on amazon. fairly thin tpu case that still provides decent drop protection.

u/there_wreck · 1 pointr/nexus5x

Living in Los Angeles.

With this charger, I can have my N5X running navigation, bluetooth, and pandora with my phone fully charged. Amazon says I purchased this in July 2016, so it's been a good 3 months or so worth of usage with no problems for me.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0172QQNBY

u/abourne · 1 pointr/nexus5x

Problem is not with the cable; it's the port hardware on the phone.

However, I did order a different brand cable on Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B016XK6O82

Which is much smoother.

u/zman0900 · 1 pointr/nexus5x

I've got this thing and it charges just as fast as the stock wall charger. Cable is built in for about the same price as other chargers with no cable. Has an extra 'A' port too that is supposed to work full speed at the same time, but I've never tried that.
