this has been my favorite case so far:
http://smile.amazon.com/Ringke-Absorption-Technology-Anti-Scratch-Protection/dp/B014RS5BHW/ref=sr_1_5?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1451311472&sr=1-5&keywords=nexus+5x+case
the button pressing action has been really nice--minimal resistance. the case itself is very customizable as you can use the template with any background or picture.

phone for use in my car:
http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B003PPGOC0?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_act_title_1&smid=A14FAFDFPQKMIV
best FM transmitter i've ever found, and highly reviewed via wirecutter.
i don't actually own this dash mount but man, do i want it. game changer. http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00RDQVPTY/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=3OJFHJG4QML3E&coliid=I10BBT1M2MULXT&psc=1
this http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00M6QODH2?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00 and this http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00S8GU2OC?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s01 make a pretty sweet car charging duo. the cable isn't flimsy, it's affordable, and spec compliant.
if one would be blessed not to need an fm transmitter on their automobile, i really like this http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00PTZEON0/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=3OJFHJG4QML3E&coliid=INI8K30WP9S4L&psc=1

finally, as you start playing around with ROMS (to improve device performance as stock is pretty buggy and not particularly bueno with respect to battery life) you'll inevitably start making backups in twrp. you'll need to. those take up a lot of space. to ameliorate that, i suggest these: http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00ZWN64RS/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=3OJFHJG4QML3E&coliid=I1YYV3CE6VXPNB&psc=1, http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00YFI1EBC?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00

oh! there's also a pleson tempered glass screen protector on amazon for the 5x. it came in last week but i still haven't had a chance to install it. cheap and very highly reviewed.

I use the Ringke Fusion Clear myself. I used the same case for my Nexus 5 (only it had teal around the sides and it works very well to protect it from minor drops, being bumped into stuff in my bag, etc... without being too bulky.

However, I prioritize customization above almost all else in my phones. I love using these cases because they're clear in the back and come with a template so you can cut out a custom image to stick in between the phone and the case so it looks like you have a custom case. They're very well done and look great, but without being as expensive as actual custom cases (and I could have a different case literally every day if I felt like it).

Like I said though, it's been keeping my phone safe since it protrudes out enough to keep the camera lens from resting on whatever surface I put it on, or the front if I set it on it's face. Plus it has a headphone jack cover to keep dust out. I'm pretty gentle with my phones, but it doesn't have a scratch on it, and my old Nexus 5 looks brand new still.

This is what I'm running my N5X with:

  • Screen protector I personally prefer tempered glass protectors, they feel nice to the touch - other than that I picked this one because the cutouts are precise, and the price was somewhat reasonable (and I typically mess up the first install, so it was nice to have a 2-pack).

  • Case - offers minimal protection but that's all I'm looking for. The only things I'd say against it is that the white is more "opalescent white" - it looks really nice IMO but will not match the white N5X. It is also slick, literally to the touch. Had it for only 2 days, already dropped 3x (no dmg so far).

  • I have a card holder attached. I really liked this wallet case for my previous phone but have yet to find one with the build quality I like for the N5X. I'm just trying it out for now - the immediate downside is that it looks juvenile, the upside is that because the one I have is stretchy rubber, it does provide extra grip against my slippery case!

  • For any USB-C or USB-C-to-A cords I'd very highly recommend monoprice cables. They are tested, very highly approved and decently priced. I always go there for any extra cables I may need!

I love wallet cases, been using one for the last 3 years. I walk around with 2 things: my phone/wallet and my keys.

http://www.amazon.com/Nexus-Abacus24-7-Wallet-Series-Leather/dp/B0151X7Z6C?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00

I got my 5x on blackfriday and ordered this case the same week. Been using it ever since and it's great. Slots are a bit snug, so stuff in 3-4 CC's the first night to stretch it out a bit. After that, it'll hold 2 in each slot easily.

Quite durable and the phone is secured well. I've dropped the phone a few times without any damage.

I'm really anal with applying screen protectors, so I wanted more than one. I found these to be this 3-pack tempered glass protectors by Cambond to be the best deal: http://smile.amazon.com/Protector-Cambond-Proximity-Ballistics-Tempered/dp/B018K28OAC?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s02

Their quality seems really good, and I like how they include stickers to assist with application guidance, as well as for removing dust particles!

Hey, i dont have the phone yet, but im decided to buy it, but im from small european country, so my only way to buy cases / skins are from ebay or aliexpress (with long waiting, so ill purchase some accessories before phone). Judging from pictures tho, i dont think any protective case is good with OTG flash drives (example www.amzn.com/B010HWCEHM/ ), what would you recommend if i intend to use theese often? Not buying case at all, or some less protective case, which dont interfere with it? Thanks a lot

I have the Cruzerlite Bugdroid case and I love it, it has a cool design and matte finish on the back but the edges of the case are tpu for durability and easy on and off. This case is 10 bucks on Amazon and highly recommended http://www.amazon.com/Nexus-Cruzerlite-Bugdroid-Circuit-Compatible/dp/B014QTEDRQ?th=0

u/MrSelatcia · 1 pointr/nexus5x

I have two of these now and they are great.

Also have two of these and they are great as well.

u/halcyoncmdr · 6 pointsr/nexus5x

Google sent one to Project Fi customers as part of the holiday gift... and they're pretty cheap at Amazon. I ended up buying this one and it works perfectly.

There's also this Google engineer that has been buying and reviewing Type C cables specifically due to the number of bad ones on the market.

http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-6-Foot-USB-A-Charge-Certified/dp/B00WJSPFOW/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top?ie=UTF8 What about this? 18 USD is 25 CAD, comes with Amazon Prime Shipping which is nice. Alternatively you could just search on Google's shop? I ordered both one from Belkin and one from Google - both are quite nice and work fine.

u/push2flush · 1 pointr/nexus5x

I really like this one, it has a nice range of motion and is easy to take out when you need to;

http://www.amazon.com/Caseology-One-Touch-Universal-Smartphone-expands/dp/B00C9QE45U

u/Trondtran · 1 pointr/nexus5x

This cable from Belkin is by far the best one I have tried. It also supports fast charging.

u/el_charlie · 2 pointsr/nexus5x

You can get the 16GB model and also get a dual usb 3.0 - usb type C flash drive. I bought one from kingston and all the reviews says that works fine on the 5X and 6P.

This is the one I bought: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B010HWCEHM/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?qid=1451313197&sr=8-2&pi=SX200_QL40&keywords=kingston+dual+c&dpPl=1&dpID=3169jdBPvQL&ref=plSrch

There's a 64GB model, too.

I do have a 32GB Nexus 5X because my Nexus 4 had 16GB. I didn't have problems with 16GB but I want to be future proof. Besides, the 12.3 MP photos are bigger now. I still have a lot of free space, even with my Titanium backups, tho.

Amazon Fire Premium Headphones work perfectly and are a good quality for the price. $15 to $20.

https://www.amazon.com/Amazon-KA416Y-Premium-Headphones/dp/B00HX0SRXW

Also, my experience tells me that if you bought some that didn't work they were probably designed for Apple products.

u/caiges · 7 pointsr/nexus5x

I like Amazon's premium headphones, cheap, good sound, mic and controls - Amazon Premium Headphones https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HX0SRXW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_cnTLxb9J2HC6M

u/defiantnoodle · 1 pointr/nexus5x

I had to switch from the first persons suggestion, to this iOttie because my work vehicle doesn't have a cd player. I am just holding it in my basket for now, in case someone has a better suggestion. I think it has a small tab underneath for support?

u/n81acc · 2 pointsr/nexus5x

I really like my Diztronic case. They advertise the "lay on the table" design because of its lip. It's protected my phone's screen many times after my toddler and I have dropped it.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0176S4DMY/

My wife has a Nexus 6P and the Speck case for it is very similar. Here it is for the Nexus 5X.

u/JJMcGee83 · 2 pointsr/nexus5x

I bought this charger
http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00SZHOI8U
And one of these cables
http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01706YAXY
And when I plug my 5X in it says charging rapidly or whatever.

The cable was on the list of good cables in the spreadsheet at the top so I took a chance with the charger and it seems to be ok. That said I don't know how well it would work if you actually used both USBs on the charger at once.

u/Oklahsam · 1 pointr/nexus5x

Got this for my Nexus 6. Works great with my 5x too.
Caseology One-Touch CD Slot Universal Smartphone Car Mount Holder Cradle https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00C9QE45U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_uEKuxbFRVBFR0

Ive had my 5X since October and haven't had any issues with my cord. I just bought some new cords from Amazon and they have a very satisfying click.

[USB Type C Cable (3FT), TechMatte USB 3.0 Type C to Type A (USB-C to USB) Cable for HTC 10, Nexus 5X, 6P, LG G5 (3 Feet, Black)] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016XK6O82/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_JtcvxbY3PSX0N)

If you have prime, they're even better.

u/forthewin0 · 1 pointr/nexus5x

Hmm not sure how that would help though... If the calibrator has a USB A female port, you need a USB C male to USB A male. Basically something like this. I live in the US though, so I'm not sure where else to get cables other than Amazon :P

u/renatofontes · 1 pointr/nexus5x

for cables I got this, it is a compliant 4 cable pack
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B018F8BGLA?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00

always check for benson leung reviews and avoid non-compliant cables =)

u/kambeix · 1 pointr/nexus5x

Something worth mentioning is that because of the high RAM usage, as soon as you open another app, Pokémon GO will get closed and you will have to reopen it again. This has been my biggest issue so far. Other than that, battery issues are the same for every other phone. Got this charger (no referral) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00X5RV14Y/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_dp_ss_1?pf_rd_p=1944687702&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B00N2T7U90&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=Y7T091D2449M8K8X1H05 @$24 deal of the day and it even does "charge rapidly"

Anker 20100, USB Micro charger. Always seems to be on sale at Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerCore-20100-Capacity-Technology/dp/B00X5RV14Y

The 10000 if you don't want to spend 40-some dollars on it (I've seen it on constant sale and it's dipped down to $32 for the one I showed)

The Cruzerlite case is $10 on amazon. fairly thin tpu case that still provides decent drop protection.

Living in Los Angeles.

With this charger, I can have my N5X running navigation, bluetooth, and pandora with my phone fully charged. Amazon says I purchased this in July 2016, so it's been a good 3 months or so worth of usage with no problems for me.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0172QQNBY

u/abourne · 1 pointr/nexus5x

Problem is not with the cable; it's the port hardware on the phone.

However, I did order a different brand cable on Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B016XK6O82

Which is much smoother.

u/zman0900 · 1 pointr/nexus5x

I've got this thing and it charges just as fast as the stock wall charger. Cable is built in for about the same price as other chargers with no cable. Has an extra 'A' port too that is supposed to work full speed at the same time, but I've never tried that.

I use these ones from Jetech you get two glass protectors for $5.99 no bubbling and no issues so far for me.
