I would not use this to shoot with tonight. First, even with the caps on, lens are not water tight. Not by a long shot.

Rice is ok, but you may end up with some serious dust issues. To prevent mold and fungus, your best bet is going to be to order up some silica packs and lock them in a tupperware container for a couple of days. Even then, you may end up with some damage.

For tonight, your best bet may be to rent or borrow a different lens. You really, really don't want to attach a lens to your body that may have bits of water floating around in it. That's an easy way to kill your camera.

Rolled mine into a lake a few months ago. Desiccant is your friend. You can get it on Amazon for cheap (I used this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DYKTS9C). Disassemble as much as you feel comfortable with, then put it in a garbage bag with a ton of desiccant for a few days.

Don't power it back on until you are sure it's dry.

Just an FYI, silica packets work MUCH better than rice and don't make so much of a mess.

They're inexpensive, highly rated/reviewed, and appear to be effective (they even tout "Guns" as a primary use on the packaging).

Rice does absolutely nothing and the internet does nothing but continue this myth. If it "works" after putting it in rice, then it would have worked by simply leaving it outside in the air. This is like saying you made it rain because you did a special dance.

It's all good man, but yeah the rice isn't important. Those silica packets you sometimes find in food are a much better idea to help dry stuff out overnight.

I we were going to try and see if tossing those silica desiccant pads into drawers would keep the stuff inside from getting mousture and rust.

I perceive success in nutrition, personal finance, time management, and many other things to be focused around budgeting and finding balance. Budgeting allows me to quantify, which helps me with comparisons. Whether it's protein sources (like BCAA's) or preworkout. So I'm always a proponent of knowing how much I'm spending and on what.


I use a spoon. Weigh out the serving size you want with a scale, just pour and reset and pour and reset, keep trying until you know about how big of a spoonful you need. You can also keep one of the spoons from the C4 and use that.


I put it all in a bag with a silica packet and shake it up. I shake it up every time I get some just to make sure it's mixed. Then scoop it out and enjoy.

Get some dessicant packs and keep where you store your blades. They are also great to throw in toolboxes, ammo containers, and tackle boxes.

Where or what kind of silica packets are you looking for? You don't need the food-safe kind so go for cheaper. I live on the coast in the PNW so I used something similar to what I've linked below.

Not specific to the 416, but that sounds SO familiar. It sounds like when a condenser mic has been exposed to high humidity. It's hard to tell from your recordings how loud it it actually is, but maybe you can fix it.

I'd try burying the mic in a few of THESE for a few days. It's worked for me.

IDK if it’s been mentioned, but I would suggest a small silica pack for the box. Cigar boxes are made of Spanish Cedar, which can hold a slightly higher humidity then you want to store guns in. I use these

Not sure on ratio or how many since it would depend on how much moisture there is. Probably just toss a few in each bag.

They come with tons of stuff for free (shoes, electronics, etc.), and you can order them pretty dirt cheap. You may not think they have much purpose, but once you have em you find all different ways to make em useful, like this situation.

Is there a strong musty smell? Looks like mold to me. Is there a bad smell in the sound hole?

I am not the best expert, you should take it to a shop. But here are things I would try:

Coarse shop rag with citrus based furniture polish. Not sure why but citrus cleans mold well.

If you can find a way to keep it in a small space very near a sizable pile of plain charcoal, that does an oddly amazing job of pulling smells out of stuff. Baking soda could work too.

I put one of these in all my ammo cans just in case. Plus a dehumidifier in my gun safe. I've read that the foam from gun cases can hold moisture - not sure what kind of foam you have in that safe but I'd hate to see all that valuable stuff get funky.

As someone who's currently battling 72% ambient humidity in the house, a silica gel dessicant packet in OP's dry-box would probably help loads.

I was def gonna mention cura. I cannot understate how userfriendly it is. one of the most overwhelming things about 3d printing can be the slicing settings, cura takes a lot of the scariness out by giving descriptions of settings when you mouse over the input box.

Also, if you live in a more humid area, make sure you dont keep your filament out in the open air. Also invest in some [desiccants] (http://www.amazon.com/Gram-Silica-Packets-Desiccant-Dehumidifiers/dp/B00DYKTS9C/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1404861133). The humidity can absorb into your filament and make the melted plastic to ooze more, which is what I'm seeing a little of. Also could be your retraction settings.

For Kayaking I'd use a cheap and reliable roll top dry bag and put a camera insert inside with some silica gel packs to absorb any moisture.

Been using this for a few years now. Just take it out every few months (or when the color of the beads change), flip out the plug in the back and insert it in a working power socket for a hour or two and that dries the beads out, then stick it back in the safe.

I also throw a small dessicant packet in each ammo can to keep them dry too, but for the gun safe, that infinitely reusble dehumidifier above can't be beat.

As I recall, some of us said you could mount it there, but that you'd want to get a waterproof battery so you don't end up with this on your hands.

You should never mount that style of battery upside down. The cases are not waterproof and water is highly reactive with lithium. Moisture will collect in the case and you'll basically have a terrarium going in there. Should have gone with that Luna Wolf battery. Your rear tire is going to sling water all over it when you encounter any moisture at all.

You'll want to put many packets of desiccant in there to soak up as much water as possible. Pooling water isn't great, but high humidity is extremely bad. Lithium battery fires are no joke. Don't burn your mom's house down. She'll be very disappointed.
