Thinking about getting two of these monitors since I've been planning on upgrading my monitors. Any input? Is this a decent monitor for the price?

u/jinyang1590 · 3 pointsr/battlestations

Asus VN247H-P, they aren't the best due to the TN panels, but they are a nice size and offer 1ms response time, not to mention the super thin bezels. http://www.amazon.com/VN247H-P-23-6-Inch-Screen-LED-Lit-Monitor/dp/B00AVYNS7M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1421795264&sr=8-1&keywords=asus+vn247h-p&pebp=1421795266522&peasin=B00AVYNS7M

And the mount is http://www.amazon.com/Deluxe-Monitor-Desktop-Supports-002-0019/dp/B006JG7G2E/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1421795361&sr=8-5&keywords=triple+monitor+mount

The mount is great and very sturdy and allows for micro adjustments so you can have all the monitors at the right height (I have to adjust my left monitor as evidenced in the pictures)

This one then! I'm using this monitor and I absolutly love it http://amzn.com/B00AVYNS7M

I got the Asus VN247H-P about a month ago and I have loved it ever since. It is a solid monitor that fits most of your needs and is around $180. The only downsides to it is that it is not IPS and it cannot swivel, but only tilt up and down.

I went with an actually gaming monitor and its an asus 24in. I personally like a smaller screen and to be close to it. It may be good to get one of those and save a few bucks if your just using them for gaming. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS REFRESH RATE OR RESPONSE TIME, THAT WILL EFFECT GAME PLAY! But being on a PS4 you are not going to hit 120 fps so 120hz is useless unless you switch to pc with a good gpu. I game on an Xbox 360 so a response time is much more important. This is my personal opinion, do what you want.

Thank you! I bought the hair online and it was supposed to be a light brown but I wasn't mad when it turned out to be a very pretty ginger.

I got the ASUS VN247H-P because they have the mount holes in the back. Haven't bought the mount yet though. :/

Sorry for the late reply. Any one that has a response rate you're comfortable with. My monitor has 8ms and it's fine but people will argue with you to the death about 1ms response time. Maybe this one?

u/wastingxp · 2 pointsr/xboxone

I have an Asus VN 247H-P. Thin bezel, 23.6 inch, 1 mms, 2 HDMI slots. Bought mine for $160 but prices vary around $170

I have a 24" Asus LED LCD Monitor that I've had for a month and is all boxed up if you are interested in purchasing it. It is in pretty good condition I'd say (no dead pixels). Here's the link on amazon. I'd sell it for $150ish if you are interested.

Also, I have a CM Storm Xornet mouse I could sell you for $17 that I used for maybe two months, and I still have the original packaging.

u/Feegert · 2 pointsr/blackops3

This ASUS VN247H is what I've been using for the past 2 years. No problems at all and I use them for console gaming and my PC monitor.

1ms latency and it was $300 when I bought it. Now it's $170.

u/DRKMSTR · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

Okay, so $250 for monitor, keyboard and mouse.

Windows, meh. that's already included.

Here's what I'd suggest for the peripherals.

$16 logitech K120 (cheap and effective Keyboard)
$22 Logitech M510 Wireless Laser Mouse
$160 23.6" High refresh Monitor (http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-VN247H-P-1920x1080-Back-lit-Monitor/dp/B00AVYNS7M/ref=sr_1_6?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1457938294&sr=1-6&keywords=144hz+monitor)

Pocket the rest and save for better components down the road, or spend on games.

I'm not partial to asus it just seems they are the best deals in monitors.

Determining the difference in Asus 1 and 2 as there is only a 5 dollar difference:

Asus 1

Asus 2

And then in these next 2 is the only difference screen size?

They both seem to follow the same specs. In which I would just go for Asus 3.

Asus 3

Asus 4

1.” but do all these parts work together?” One of the great things about PC Part Picker is that it will tell you if your parts aren’t compatible, However looking at all these parts I can tell you that YES all these parts should work together.

2. “I am in fact aware that Nvidia admitted the GTX 970s are actually more like 3.5 GB than 4GB but from my research they're still really good cards. As I understand the direct competitor would be the Radeon R9 290x, but I like the GTXs more from what I've read. Thoughts?” If you are aware of the 970s issue then that’s good, The 970 is still a good card however price per performance wise getting a single 980 won beat 2 970s in performance, but the price wise the single 980 is better. You might also want to think though that unless you a true enthusiast and plan on playing pretty much all the new high end AAA titles on this computer, a single 970 could easily do it for you. As for Nvidia vs. Radeon, I personally am Nvidia because they have a bunch of nice features that are out NOW and are relatively cheap to accommodate (Like G-Sync).

3. “The reason I have 2 GPUs is because in my ideal set up, I have a 4k monitor and another monitor with a 144hz refresh rate. I would use the 4k monitor for those awesome graphical experiences, and switch to the 144hz when I want to pew pew with the pros (play games where FPS is very beneficial, in case I lost anyone). However I am in no way MARRIED to any of these monitors. Are there better options? Is it possible I may not even need that second GPU?” I run a single 980 in both 3 monitor surround and sometimes at 4k DSR, my experience is that surround is flawless so far that ive seen, aslong as you are willing to work with some games not being optimized (most newer titles will be though), And running at 4k DSR I average about 30-50 fps with a single GPU (Mind you it is OCed). You said that you were thinking about just one monitor or 3, The ASUS ROG swift will be great as a single monitor, but if you are looking to play in surround with 3, get a cheaper one I personally use (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AVYNS7M/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and I know its not the best monitor in the world but it has very thin bezels for a tri-monitor setup. This area is very personal for your liking and I know you are still looking at the GPU too so I will leave this link here to show you some price per performance values at different resolutions. (http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/NVIDIA/GeForce_GTX_970_SLI/21.html)

4. “I have a sort of red motif going with this PC. I want it to look cool, that's why I got a case with a window, and fans with red lights. I wanted to keep this build a bit compact, but not super small, which is also the reasoning for this case. I checked the dimensions and am comfortable with the size. However I wonder, are there any smallish cases like this one that can fit my parts and maybe look a little more unique?” To start he id like to say that my build is all red painted and Blue LEDs, I am even about to paint my GTX 980 reference card red in the coming weeks, So I completely understand you wanted a sexy looking rig, and who wouldn’t right? Your spending enough money for this beast as it is so it might as well look just as well as it performs. As for “unique” Cases I am unsure if you have seen NZXTs cases or not but they can have a red cases and I particularly love the sleek look to them. (http://www.nzxt.com/category/products/1-cases) The phantom series is my favorite and yes it can get a bit pricey but they look good to me. The only down side for you id say is that they only have mid towers and up so getting a small case isn’t going to happen, but hey Its up to you.

5. “I in no way plan to spend exactly what is listed on every single one of these parts. I am almost 100% sure I can get every single part on this list at a lower price (except maybe the GPUs) and am willing to put in the effort to do so. I'm using extra scholarship money to build this (I'd like to do it without borrowing money from my parents) so I mean it when I say I am willing to put in the effort. Can anyone point me in the right direction?” As far as research and stuff you have done amazing so far. PCPartPicker is an amazing site and itll help you a lot down the road, showing you sale prices and even keeping you up to date on a vast list of parts that are always being updated. You mentioned budget, I have a friend who gets a lot of money from scholarships every semester but if you have any since of a max amount you would like to spend it would really help the search.

6. “I will be looking into a mechanical keyboard (I hear there's nothing better), and I know about the mechanical keyboards subreddit. Any advice is still welcome!” I have the Corsair RGB K95 Mechanical Keyboard, It may be a little more flashy than what you are looking for but Cherry MX keyswitches are the way to go. (http://www.keyboardco.com/blog/index.php/2012/12/an-introduction-to-cherry-mx-mechanical-switches/) This site will help you learn what type of Switches you will want, As for a gamer you would probably drift to Brown or Red. And yes whatever you have heard about mechanical keyboards is correct, they are the way to go if you are serious about gaming.

7. “I don't have a headset. I know I should probably get one. But I heard there's other really solid alternatives. Is this true? Or is a good headset the way to go?” I have a speaker setup with a studio microphone, but I also make YouTube videos and stream on Twitch so its kind of needed for a mic like that. I also have a pair of Turtle Beach XP500s, I don’t suggest Turtle Beach for PC btw. However if you want great sounding audio with a good price, Logitech. If you want a little more fancy then go to Razer.

8. “I feel like I'm missing some important stuff, somewhere in the expansions regions. Anyone notice anything left out?” A DVDRW drive if you think youll need one, speakers if you ever want anyone other than you to hear your computer (Like if you wanna listen to Pandora when you are cleaning your room or something idk). But other than that I don’t see anything you are missing.

9. “(I'm pretty sure I don't have the parts for this here but...) I would like bluetooth connectivity for accessories, MAYBE WiFi capabilities, and a Blu Ray/DVD/CD player.” You don’t have a wirelss card or Bluetooth in this mother board, from what I know all ASUS ROG motherboards come with there own Wifi/Bluetooth mPCIe slot and card. (http://www.asus.com/us/ROG_ROG/MAXIMUS_VII_GENE/ OR http://www.asus.com/us/ROG_ROG/MAXIMUS_VI_GENE/ (Older verson but cheaper)) Both are MicroATX boards, follow your Red theme, aren’t INSANELY expensive, and have great reliability.

10. “I don't know about overclocking, but I want this to be overclocking capable (I think it is, but I don't exactly know) in case I ever find the need to do so.” I have been working with computer hardware and software for about 12 years now, Overclocking is no joke, for the unexperienced PLEASE read a lot and watch a lot on youtube (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCXuqSBlHAE6Xw-yeJA0Tunw) you can seriously damage your components and I advise not to do it at all unless you are comfortable enough with the material to understand it fully. Or have someone that does know what they are doing walk you through it. As for OCing this build will be fine. Make sure your processor in the end has a K at the end of its name (or unless otherwise stated that it is unlocked in the information somewhere).

11. “Some streaming to Twitch would be cool, just to have the ability to do so. I know I'd need a camera.” With this build you should be fine but watch out for your internet connection, anything less than 25Mb/s connection will bottleneck you and it wont be a good streaming experience.

All in all you are well on your way to ascension and Im sure you will be happy with your choices in the end, some last little tips would be get an i7, you might not think its worth it because everyone says “i5 is great for gaming” That’s because they haven’t used an i7 and at the same time you will be using it for much more than JUST gaming. As for qualifications, I have been an Enthusiast grade PC builder since middle school, ive been coding since i touched a computer when i was 8, and I have worked in the IT business for over 5 years now, and I studied Software Engineering at FGCU. I want to make this a career one day and try to stay on top of the newest information in the tech world every single day. I take Technology and teaching people about it very seriously. Thanks for reading and I'm looking forward to hearing back from you and helping you along the way.

For a monitor, I'd recommend getting this one. I recently picked it out for my parents, and I have to say it's a great one. Great response, great colors, and it even has built in speakers, which is kind of nice.

u/joe-foshow · 1 pointr/xboxone

If you're trying to avoid lag go with low response time monitors, the lower the better. It helps alot for 1st person shooters. This one's amazing

u/PhAnToM444 · 1 pointr/CoDCompetitive

As far as question 1, not necessarily because MLG.tv is not an open platform that anyone can stream on, you must be offered a contract to use it. This means that most majors (MLG, UMG, Gfinity, AEL) will be on MLG.tv, but smaller tournament organizers may not have gotten the contract yet so they play on twitch.

Question 2: Any 23.5-24" monitor with 1ms grey to grey input lag is probably fine, but specifically these 2 are most popular

BenQ XL (the other 24" BenQ ones also work just fine)

ASUS for a less expensive option

I got the ASUS VN247H-P 23.6-Inch Screen LED-Lit Monitor

I got it from Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AVYNS7M/

u/RageMuffin69 · 1 pointr/PS4

I bought this Asus monitor a couple years ago for about $120. It's kinda small at 23.6" but it looks great and works fantastic. Only issue is a small sort of edge bleeding, which isn't really too noticeable for me, but at your price range you can find a much better one. I don't know what types of games you play but the reason I got this monitor was because of it's 1ms response time. I'm sure other commentors can provide better products.

u/Zergspower · 1 pointr/Amd

I bought two pretty decent 1080p Asus's about two years ago

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AVYNS7M/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

That's the link to them, I very much enjoy them especially the thin bezel on them.

Colors are pretty dang good on them as well, I do watch movies while I play fallout 4 or whichever game I'm playing as a distraction and the colors are pretty good on that front as well.

My other older monitor (samsung) has great colors but has power connector issues, this basically made me make the decision never to buy a monitor with an external power block. Mainly due to the fact that like laptop connectors, over time it can break apart or become really loose which means you get to play 'cross your fingers and hope you looped the wire over your monitor so it'll turn on right' game. Especially when it's a touch panel and not a button one :o

One thing I've yet to do though is look into an IPS Display, Blasphemy may be thrown my way to everyone here but since I've not experienced their benefits and my current ones are doing their job nicely I don't plan on going that route :)

You won't regret it

u/Xuvial · 1 pointr/StreetFighter

It will still be an issue more or less. Firstly lets clear some things up...

Input lag = the delay between hitting the button and the game engine registering your input. This is primarily determined by framerate. In any game locked to 60fps (i.e. most arcade fighters including SFV) you will always experience a max potential input lag of 16.67 milliseconds. You can't do anything about this, the only solution is a higher framerate but that is not possible with fighters.

Display lag = the delay between your hardware sending new frames to your display, and your display actually SHOWING those frames (lighting up pixels, etc).

The above can be further compounded by vertical synchronization (v-sync) which makes your hardware hold frames in a "buffer" until the display is ready to show them. By default this is always enabled on PS4 to minimize tearing, at the cost of even more display lag. On PC v-sync should be turned off immediately in settings.

In brief - regardless of whether you're playing on PS4 or PC, if you're serious about playing any game and minimizing display lag then buy a typical 1ms GTG gaming monitor like BenQ GL2460HM or Asus VN247H-P.

If you want to stick to a TV, then make sure you're using the "game mode" (even though it still doesn't come close to a monitor).

22-27" monitor with 1ms gtg and low input lag will blow away a TV any day. I run a 34" 100hz for my PC but a basic asus 24" gaming monitor for my xbox. This monitor is perfect for Xbox gaming. 1ms GTG and very low input lag on it. TV's are mostly double or even triple what a monitor is.
