That cooler while decent, is pretty small compared to what you should be using nowadays. Getting a better cooler makes SUBSTANTIAL difference. Remember, heat kills.

I suggest either a Noctua D15 or a 240mm AIO at the least if you have the budget.

A couple cheaper but great price to performance coolers I picked out are these:

AIR:

Sycthhe Ninja 5

Noctua D14

BeQuiet DR4

Water:

Coolermaster 240

Deepcool captain 240

If you didn’t pick out anything. Get a Corsair or DeepCool AIO. I bought the one below and my i3 went from mid 50’s to mid 30’s. Under a Plex Minecraft load. My i7 also went down an average of 15-18 degrees migrating from fans.

Honestly I’m glad I bought mine, for 330 dollars you get a cpu that’s honestly kickass and an amazing cooler. I just actually bought a deepcool Captain 240ex just cause it’s on sale. 60 bucks on Amazon

You need to change your case/ this is the Best overall build for you just add the deepcool captain 240 rgb v2 cooler for 69$, a set of cable extensions about 30$, I will send the link to both on Amazon, also research using Zen 2 with that motherboard if its compatible https://pcpartpicker.com/list/BcjQDx

You may need an x570 board, or a loaner zen 2 chip, or to contact the seller and ask them to update the bios for you. As far as fans, we’re going to want to go woth Uphere for budget/rgb. This is a good set that will sync with the cases rgb strip

Great fans for the case I picked for you. This is the same rig Im building:

CPU: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07STGGQ18/ref=ox_sc_act_image_8?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1

The Ryzen 5 3600 is the best CPU for the buck at this time. It is built on the new 7nm Zen 2 node and is unlocked for overclocking. It also well excel at moderate workstation.

GPU: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07WRYC3MT/ref=ox_sc_act_image_2?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1

This 5700XT model is one of the best in terms of value for performance. It has a great design as well as good thermals. The 5700XT will completely shred any game right now at 1080p and will run AAA titles at 1440p60FPS with minimum problems.

RAM: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07TS98LM6/ref=ox_sc_act_image_6?smid=A26PVB3960EU85&psc=1

The Viper 4 series is great in terms of value. Patriot makes some good product, and this is one of them. DDR4 3200 is natively supported by Zen 2, and there’s no XMP profile required. 16GB is enough for virtually any game out there.

SSD: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07H5355JF/ref=ox_sc_act_image_5?smid=A2UXO5LPTDY3LN&psc=1

Adata is on of my favorite memory brands out there. The SX6000 is a strong value contender on the market. You’ll see good improvement in read and write speeds over SATA-based SSDs and Hard Drives. 512GB of solid NVMe storage at only $59.99 is a great deal.

Motherboard: https://www.amazon.com/MSI-Crossfire-Motherboard-B450-Tomahawk/dp/B07WF6ZQST/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?keywords=msi+b450+tomahawk+max&qid=1573476715&sprefix=msi+b450+tomahawk+&sr=8-1

This motherboard has everything on B450 boards, as well as native Zen 2 support. The Tomahawk also supports overclocking, which you stated as something that you planned to do. Overall, just a great B450 board. Make sure you pick up a MAX version.

PSU: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00BK7BEPC/ref=ox_sc_act_image_4?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1

This a good power supply in terms of value. It is certified 80+ Bronze and is also semi-modular. This power supply also comes with a decent 3 year warranty. 650W is enough to power the system, even if overclocked. It also has some wiggle room for future system upgrades.

AIO Cooler: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07QPNP4VP/ref=ox_sc_act_image_3?smid=A1TG24VCRPTZ06&psc=1

Since you will be overclocking and want RGB, I decided to add an AIO to the budget. This allows more OC space and better thermals during overclocking. The DeepCool captain is a good budget AIO. Mount this on the top of the case.

Case: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07KGSJRC3/ref=ox_sc_act_image_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1

Solid case overall. This case comes with Corsair RGB fans that you can sync with Mystic Light software from the motherboard. This case has RGB and also a tempered glass design for less than $80. It also has decent airflow.

This system is about $1K, but with an employee discount, you are looking at a little bit over $900.

240mm, $75, first 240mm result for liquid cooler on Amazon.

Edit: Here's a better one for only $70.

Edit 2: And here's a 360mm one for $100.

Lol that figures. If you can fork up just a little more cash, I would consider this

That’s what I use. Nice and cool, super quiet.

Yes. So I just discovered the difference between 12v and 5v rgb setups. I bought an 12v RGB AIO which will clearly not work with the Hue+. I like the AIO and don't want to spend an additional $50 for the ARGB version which is 5v so I bought the Cooler Master 12v RGB controller to support the AIO I bought. So my question has now changed.

If I buy the Deep Cool RGB converter to go from 12v to 5v, can I use the NZXT led strips on the converter and just ditch the Hue+ controller?

Below are the parts I currently have (excluding the Hue+)
