There's no official designation for them, but typically are just referred to as mini, or mini itx

You can get a used 1070 on amazon for $332.99 https://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GeForce-GDDR5-Graphics-GV-N1070IXOC-8GD/dp/B01JD2OSX0/

If you hunt around you might find a 980 ti which OC better than a 1070.

Ultimately, I'd look at the kinds of games you want to play. Like Witcher 3? that would require some horse power. You'll need to look up benchmarks online with that video card and your processor to see if it can maintain the highest refresh rate your monitor can output. So a 60hz screen can output 60fps, if the graphics card can't maintain a high frame rate fps(Frames Per Second) and dips below the 60 you'll experience peasant like fps which is unacceptable.

Or you could get the Mini 1070. I have one in my Elite 110. Tiny little guy can fit in just about any case.

A huge upgrade in most situations, and a diagonal upgrade in others. I have a love/hate relationship with SLI, so when it worked it was great, and when it didn't it wasn't.

Going from 3GB to 8GB of VRAM needed to happen since I play at 1440p. Games I had trouble maxing before, are easier now.

The 1070 is also much quieter. I got the Gigabyte 1070 ITX one. So its a tiny card. Haven't started overclocking yet, but I haven't broke 62C yet while gaming, while my 780Tis would get both hot and loud. I went with the ITX one since I'm going to be making an ITX build in the future.

That's an odd height. What's the height clearance on your case?

If you're worried about length, you can get an mITX version of the 1070.

The most compact build is a GTX1070 Mini, in an Akitio Thunder3, powered by a Dell DA-2.

I did something similar, except i have an inspiron 550 with the same specs. I swapped my psu for an EVGA 500w and added an itx gtx 960. I know for sure you can get cards like the gtx 1070, but it is going to bettle neck pretty badly. If you're aiming to hit your budget better, you can go for a gtx 1060 and still have a good $40 left over.

I got the zotac 1070ti
For 629.99 and gigabyte 1070 for 525.16. I'll return one of them.
Is the jump from 1070 to 1070ti worth the 120$ after tax?

For that specific product, that's a good price, it typically goes for ~$740, so that's a $60 discount.

That being said, there's a Gigabyte one for just $525 if all you care about is the price.

If small form factor is key, I'm confused why you're opting for an overclockable processor with an external cooler. You're opting for a truly high end processor, and skimping on the GPU which will help more for the gaming you do.

My opinion would be to save some money on processor and cooler, and get an i5 6500/6600, stick with stock cooler (saving you another $90), drop to an H150 board, drop to 2133mhz ram, and opting for a small form factor 1060, or even a small form factor 1070. Then get a ~500W gold certified power supply, which should be ~$30 cheaper and that's how I'd do it.

Take that tiny card out and see if the 1070 fits. If it doesn't can you move anything to help the situation? The bottom hdd might need to be moved. It looks close but it may indeed fit. Another option is this:

https://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GeForce-GDDR5-Graphics-GV-N1070IXOC-8GD/dp/B01JD2OSX0

What are the actual specs of the PC? How much ram and what CPU? Hopefully you don't need that wireless card because that's your only pci slot and I'm not even sure if it's full speed. If your CPU is the stock dual core G4400 it's going to really bottleneck that video card.

The other option would be this GPU if the length of the FE is too long for your case:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125893

However, that card won't blow air out of your case.

Amazon global specifically Amazon Export Sales LLC offers some sweet deals but there is no warranty. Like this is a pretty sweet deal for a gtx 1070 and this 1440p60Hz monitor too

u/biscuitmachine · 1 pointr/laptops

What I don't understand is the emphasis of cramming everything into the laptop to begin with. I certainly would not pay good money for laptop with one locked down GPU just crammed in there. It raises the price of the laptop quite a bit, raises the bulkiness (cooling solution), etc... to me it just hurts the reason I'd use a laptop in the first place while providing nothing else.

But on the other hand external ports (thunderbolt, etc) are becoming more and more capable... or hell you can even make a laptop that just has a freaking PCIEx16 port hanging out the back/side. Little ugly but it'd work. Then you'd just have an external unit with the gpu and a small PSU. That's it. It'd still be handheld.

I mean the 1070 has SFF designs already out, and the card draws a measly 150 watt TDP. That's a decent chunk for a laptop, but what if you just shoved it into an external case with its own tiny 150-250 watt PSU (250 for upgradeability down the line perhaps)? You could reuse the GPU's cooling, and all the laptop needs is a PCIE (thunderbolt, whatever) port on the side to interface with the unit. Which is totally possible.

Then the GPU inside the box would be upgradable and you wouldn't need to worry about cooling at all because it would essentially just be a box with a PSU with 12V rails, and it would still be small enough to take around with you. Then the laptop can be kept extremely light (actually the laptop itself becomes interchangeable).

Well I guess it's just a preference thing, I can understand some appeal for having it all in the same package, and GPUs are indeed becoming more efficient.

Ok, at this point, I think I've narrowed the search down to these two GPUs:

There are smaller 1070s ... for the other people out there thinking it might be a tight squeeze for them too

I can't seem to find any measurements for your case other than external ones. Judging by those measurements, you should be able to fit at least a mini 1070 such as this one, or this one. You should probably open your case and make sure there's at least 21 CM from the back of the case to where the tip of the graphics card would be, though.

Also, make sure your PSU has an 8-pin PCI-E connector, and is at least 500W.

Is this a good deal for a 1070 8gb mini? Or should I wait for a 2 fan that's a similar price.

u/HarithIsBoss7 · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Will do. Just another quick question since u seem to be knowledgeable, is this a good deal? This is the 1070 I’m talking about. I don’t mind the noise. Is the card itself good though? https://www.amazon.ca/Gigabyte-GeForce-GDDR5-Graphics-GV-N1070IXOC-8GD/dp/B01JD2OSX0/ref=mp_s_a_1_16?ie=UTF8&qid=1525014692&sr=8-16&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=gtx+1070

I have a follow up question about the node 202; does anybody know the GPU bracket-to midframe dimension? [This] (http://i.imgur.com/ZJt4Oux.jpg) is what I mean.
Why I'm asking this is because I'm confused between the gigabyte 1070 itx and the zotac 1070 itx
The Zotac is a bit longer than the gigabyte. Their lengths are 8.27" and 6.65" respectively. I would like to know if the Zotac variant would fit in the first half of the case without going over into the second (I'll be using the second half of the GPU chamber to mount a 3.5" drive)

u/JDG1980 · -1 pointsr/Amd

I assume you already have a FreeSync monitor, and/or heavily use OpenCL? Otherwise, a small form factor GTX 1070 like this one is probably going to have roughly the same performance, same small size, and better perf/watt than any Vega Nano card.
