That one has a capacity of 3000mAh, which wouldn't even charge my 3200mAh phone battery. Look into something like this- with 13000mAh it will cost a bit more, but it will charge your phone and your tablet and still have juice to spare.

Personally, I almost got a case like this, but opted instead for this portable charger. It's less expensive than a case like that, and doesn't constantly add bulk to the phone. You don't need to plug in your phone using a microusb port at night. I can leave it in my briefcase or backpack and plug in my phone wherever I am. It can also charge my phone 8-10 times before I need to recharge it.

If you have a lifestyle where you often have a bag with you (ie student with backpack or girl with a purse), I think the "battery brick" is a better solution than a case.

If I go any sort of distance I'll throw an external battery in my bag, because every time I've been towed inevitably my phone is dying by the time the tow arrives... This is the one I use, has enough juice to charge my phone several times over: http://www.amazon.com/External-Battery-Pack-Limefuel-L130X/dp/B00BZD6QCW/ref=sr_1_2?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1405313863&sr=1-2

The Limefuel products on Amazon, they have a built in LED and are fairly massive in terms of capacity.

This is hwr I use. It's awesome since it can give you about 5+ days on a single charge!

I got this bad boy in on Monday: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00BZD6QCW?pc_redir=1396407738&robot_redir=1
Nice bed comforter too.

can you help me understand all the parts that are needed with this solution so that it passes through all / some of the charge while also charging?

I've found a few lithium ion packs that supposedly do this, like this one that features "pass through charging". Would this be a bad idea?

This is a pretty good battery, the iphone 4 is 1420mah so the 13000mah would get you over 7 full charges (about 80% efficient).

The battery backpac can be charged on its own, without being plugged into the camera, but extra batteries can't. The only thing I can think of is pairing this with one of these. If you need it to be waterproof, put it in a ziploc bag.

I agree 100% on the cell signal. I expected a dropped call or some facetime error (I honestly barely use it otherwise). Or, at the very least, quality of the video going to crap. I don't know if my mother was just trying to be nice by saying there were no issues with it.

As for power, I should have mentioned that I keep this in my pack at all times. I ran out of juice once with my Sena, it was aweful. Phones can pick up a fair amount of charge quickly, it takes the Sena like 2-3 hours to charge proper. Can't live without tunes. I had a few velcro straps I grabbed when setting up the whole thing. So, to answer your question, the power on the phone never went below 100%.

I have the Limefuel Blast and I love it. 13000mAh, two 1A output ports, one 2A input (for charging the battery itself), and a built-in LED flashlight that has come in handy more than once.

I can get three full charges and one partial charge for my Note II (3100mAh battery) from a full charge of this thing.

Edit: It also comes with an Apple 30-pin adapter built in to the cable so you can charge Apple devices instead of just micro USB.

Somebody had recommended this in another thread on this sub, seems like a really good option for a variety of situations. Also has different prices for different charging capacities.
