I Tried Aches headset at UGC practice lan before cod champs and these headsets are definitely better then astro hands down and the noise canceling is insane. You wont be disappointed if you're looking for the top of the line headset, just use it with your astro mixamp. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GWU8FAE/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Entry-level Headphones + ModMic > Any headset
Ask her for the ModMic, depending on her budget (they are around $50, sometimes on Massdrop for less), then buy headphones for your personal gift.
The only headset that gives a mic+headphone combo a run for it's money is the Sennhiesher G4ME series, if you insist on a headset.
Here they are on amazon for $210.05 with free shipping.
Nice upgrade. I also went from some Logitech G930's to Sennheisers but I didn't know any better and got the G4ME Zeroes. I don't exactly regret the purchase but I know I could've done better or at least the same quality for cheaper.
If you want isolation, this. If you don't care, this would sound better and be better for gaming. You might want the one meant for isolation as the joints look to be made of metal rather than plastic.
Up-front warning: I'm in a bit of a rut when it comes to brand loyalty so take everything I say as a recommendation of something to try on rather than outright buy sight unseen (though that should really be the rule for any audio gear.)
The Sennheiser HD-380 pro is one of my all-time favorites from a comfort and isolation perspective. They're circumnaural, cheap (relatively anyway) and have a fairly neutral response.
If your focus is gaming, the Game Zero may be up your alley. It's very similar ergonomically to the 380, but includes a mic. (Unfortunately the mic is not removable.)
If you're more fashion conscious you may be interested in the Momentum. These things are probably one of the few I've ever tried that beat my 380s in comfort (the other notable one on my mind being bose's QC15.) These guys come in multiple colors, so you get lots of choices.
If you're willing to take the plunge into open back (less/non isolating) the HD 558 has a nice wide soundstage while still having the comfort of the 380. These are likely the least in line with your requirements, but I still highly recommend trying a pair on if there are any shops around you that carry them.
Since you mentioned gaming, I'll also drop mention of the antlion modmic. They are constantly having inventory issues (can't keep up with demand) but it's an interesting product. New version is on the way.
I love these: (too lazy to hyperlink)

Apparently there's also this one on sale, but it looks like the same item?
> a y splitter
what's the purpose of a Y splitter? and can you use that headset with ps4 and pc? also, what do you think of these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GWU8FAE/ref=ask_ql_qh_dp_hza
I maybe didn't spend the most popular, but I went with these:
http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-G4ME-ZERO-Gaming-Headset/dp/B00GWU8FAE
Because:
Mic volume on right earpiece.
Lift mic boom to mute. This is not only a good quality mic for game communication, the feature itself is awesome for quick mutes, not having to mess with in-line controls is awesome.
Note: That is something that can get aggravating with people who use desk mics, you hear typing, coughs, discussions, etc.
Sennheiser sound quality.
I got a cheap sound card with an amp for the time being, because external amp/dacs are somewhat expensive. Luckily, no issues with static or popping, nice crisp highs and lows aplenty without being all bass-boosty inside a tin can like cheap headphones can get.
Whoops realized I linked the wrong cable. Thank you for the fix!
I have this headset.
Wouldn't I need a "RCA To 1/4" to plug my headset into the headphone port on the front of the Scarlett 2i2?

I bought these, did I make a mistake?
I've heard very mixed reviews about the Astros, both good and bad.
I'm looking into some new christmas-time headphones also. I've been checking out the Sennheiser G4ME ZERO's. Anyone have any feedback on those? They look amazing.

I don't recommend any of the "gaming" stuff...like Logitech, Razer, TurtleBeach etc. For the price you pay, the quality just isn't there. I have gone through a looottttt of headsets. I got sick of throwing my money away so I bought a pair of Sennheiser HD280 Pro's like 10 years ago, and got a standalone mic on my desk.
They have lasted me all this time, but I recently retired them in favor of a headset that has a built in mic. My girlfriend now uses the HD280's, so they're still going strong.
I upgraded to Sennheiser G4ME ZERO's a few months back and they are very very nice.
Virtual 7.1 in headphones is more or less a scam, read more about it here.
The Cloud II is a great headset for the price, but if you live in the US then currently Amazon has the Sennheiser GAME ONE and the GAME ZERO for sale which have much better audio quality than the Cloud II's, alternatively if you have a microphone already then the Audio-Technica ATH-M50X are the same price point when they're on sale and offer a better audio quality.
I have these headphones

What is your opinion on those headphones?
I'm a huge fan of the Sennheiser Game One. I've had mine for a couple years. The build is plastic, but it's very thick and durable. These headphones are very comfortable, I'd say 9/10 in comfort. They are based on the Sennheiser HD 558 headphones so you can expect the same audio quality, you're paying $40.00 for a volume knob and a built in mic that mutes when you push it up - these features are worth it for me. If you're looking for a closed back headphone, there's also the Game Zero.
I think you should get the 1070. As for headphones I would recommend getting either the HyperX Cloud 2 (I have these headphones and love them), the Sennheiser GSP 300, the Sennheiser GAME ZERO or Sennheiser GAME ONE (the game zero is closed back and the game one is open back).

Got any questions lmk
I would check out the Sennheiser Game Zero has a mic attached, but it is not wireless. Costs 209.99CAD and 185.99USD (white version) and 165.06USD (black version). It is a great headset and should not break when you use it.
Cheers.
Let me start out by saying that I haven't purchased the amp(fiio e10) yet because I had a question about it.
I was thinking of either this: Sennheiser G4ME Zero or Sennheiser PC 350 Special Edition . I couldn't really find a difference between the two so I was looking for advice there.
The second thing is that the fiio e10 only has 1 slot for headphones but no mic, so my other question is, would an adapter such as this work? Sennheiser PCV .
I'm open to more suggestions of headphones but I would like the mic installed attached to them.
Personally I prefer standalone headphones with a modmic. If you want an all in one go with some audio technicas people have mentioned or a Sennheiser G4me.
IMO stretch a little bit more and get some Sennheiser G4ME ZERO headphones. They are far better than the logitech G930 I previously had. Especially paired with a small portable amp like a Mont-Blanc. The bass is insane when playing BF4. I can 'feel' every bomb exploding.
Can anyone tell me if these are compatible for the new gen consoles as well? i.e. Xbox 1 and PS4? Thanks!

I can't recommend these more.

First, check out /r/headphones.
Second, avoid most gaming companies as their audio often sounds like crap.
Go with Sennheiser. They're an audio company, not a gaming company so their products sound much better. Check prices on Amazon: Sennheiser as they're much cheaper there compared to the Sennheiser website. The Sennheiser PC 360 Special Edition or GSP 300 should suit your budget. If you want to spend a little more, go for the GAME ONE or GAME ZERO. If you want to save even more money, look for them on eBay.
Another good brand to check out is Audio Technica.
I hope this helps.
