I got a bell for around 5 bucks, and it even includes a compass. The bell, in my experience, does the best job of alerting people without startling them.


When I yell, "on your left!" or "bikes coming!" people often jump, startled. When I ring the bell, they usually move aside and seem far less startled.

Seriously though, tons of pros use carts. Take any razzing with good humor.

I'm old and use a cart but I'm embarrassed for it because I suck. I defend myself by pointing out that half my cart is full of snacks & juice boxes for the kids.... which it actually is, allowing me to keep them happier for longer outings and me happier for not having to take off and put on a 30 pound pack every 2 minutes. They just run up and grab what they want and I've got a little trash bag on the back.

Edit to add: I put a bicycle bell on my Zuca by the handle and it's great! When the little ones wander or want to hit playgrounds near a couple holes I just ring to call them back. I also have a cell mount I can use to record my own throws right there.

Bells are great, but you need a good one. Most bells suck. I have had the best luck with Crane bells like this. Very loud and clear.

i wouldn't be surprised. i had this painted suzu but it sounds like shit compared to the time clock. that being said, i'm not a bell expert, and i tested one copy.

I use a bell, somewhat similar to a bicycle bell, but it goes on your fingers like a ring. Its called a "Runbell"
