165mm eye to eye, but the fill valve needs to be in good position as not lot of room (which narrows options)

I had the DMN AO36RC back and its huge improvement, super cushy. Specs here
DNM Damping 3 System Mountain Bike Air Rear Shock Rebound/Lock Out/Air Pressure Adjustable AL 7005 Shark/AL 6061 Shock Body 165mm (6.5") x 35mm https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FLTZ2ZS

Noticed there is ao38 model...not sure if any better or fits??

In front did finally install one mentioned previously and it barely fits (have to remove upper allen bolt to fill)...have not ridden a lot but feels good, considering installing a bump stop though in case shock de-pressurizes...original install didn’t charge the shock and she sinks pretty good to point could bottom out on tire...at 200 psi though not a problem.

Eh maybe for while this guy is a puppy, but bicycle shocks can be easily found for under 1lb. And they aren't particularly expensive

I just bought it a few months ago from nashbar for $400 shipped. I like it but I also realized going in I would have to buy a new fork at some point and rear suspension. I'm still riding everything stock but I will be upgrading as the current fork is like a pogostick haha. The first upgrade I'm going to do is going to be this shock from Amazon DNM Mountain Bike Air Rear Shock With Lockout 190mm https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FLTZ47O/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_kXbxxbXZ5RDH2 as there are others on there that have already mounted it. Unfortunately on most biking forums and subs everyone prices out cheaper bikes because the components aren't as good stock as bikes that are much higher priced, but since I bought a new bike for $400 I now have much more room to get the bike exactly how I want it. Sometimes you just have to do your own thing and realize what your priorities are.

> That's a non-issue. You'd want to change the standard Dualtron folding handlebar to Xtasy anyway because it's not that good. Xtasy has way more space for gadgets and better locking mechanism. Dualtron 3 comes with Xtech brakes which suck as well - I know that because I had them on my Spider for a while. Fully hydraulic Magura is what you want - the installation is a pain in the balls, but in the end it's worth it, everyone who did it will confirm that. Thunder comes with Nutt hydraulic brakes, but Magura blows it out of the water.

Honestly, it's almost like you're trying to talk me out of buying another scooter at all. ;-)

> It's not. There's a reason why all Dualtrons (except X, my guess is rubber doesn't scale to it's size well) come with rubber suspension - it's really good. I had my reservations about it before I received my Spider, but 9 months and counting now - the suspension is excellent, like it was made for me.

Have you ridden a Speedway V or similar? I had what looks to be the same (single) rear "A5" shock on my Darknight and it seemed pretty good. Definitely superior to the undampend springs it had on the forks.

> Better build quality

Do you have any specific examples? Same motors, tires and wheels as the D3, same controller as the Spider presumably, same throttle, same brakes as the Spider, better folding mechanism than either of the Dualtrons.

> More maintenance friendly

The Speedway V has the same tires and wheels, with apparently the same motors. The deck looks easy enough to get at. Do you have any specific reasons for saying this?

> Better clearance

I'm mostly worried about scraping the deck over speed bumps in parking lots. At low speed. But that's probably actually a non-issue now that I think about it.

> Better quality batteries - LG or Panasonic cells

It's really not important to me. IF I ever had issues with the pack, which would have to be more defect related than cycle-life, replacing a battery pack really isn't that prohibitive. Two new motors can cost just as much. I've seen people on here claim that the battery is half the price, but that just isn't the case unless you're paying for reseller profits. Hit up Alibaba and look for 16s9p packs. Even LG doesn't hit that mark. The Sincpower batteries are rated for ≥ 1000 cycles at 100% DoD at 0.5C. That's about 56,000 miles (at 25Wh/mi) at a continuous ~700W. If I need to replace a pack to get another couple years out of a scooter that's 1) Easy, and 2) Still cheaper than buying a more expensive scooter.

> More mod friendly and more 3rd party parts available

Besides the $18 handlebar bag I've got, and maybe upgrading the brakes at some point, I'm not really interested.

I was making something vaguely similar, and I decided to go with el cheapo bike shocks. Might work for your application.

It's good. Holds air. Rebounds fine. I think a seal kit is $20 if it needs to be rebuilt at some point. Then again, there is always a cheap RockShox Monarch or this as a replacement: http://www.amazon.com/DNM-Mountain-Shock-Lockout-165mm/dp/B00FLTZ2ZS/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1462824847&sr=8-2&keywords=rear+shock

I have the same exact bike, I love it, also new to MTB, first thing I did was swap out that annoying rear suspension. Found this on a DB forum, such a blessing to have the ability to lock out the rear suspension on the fly:
