Hi! I’m back!!
Although I thoroughly intend to write my birth story when I’m ready, I just finished my first piece since the baby arrived so in celebration, I’ll pair it with something useful.
I really appreciated posts like this while I was pregnant so here goes:
Things I didn’t know I needed:
(AKA things I have frantically ordered on amazon at or around 2am)
•Bottle Drying Rack This probably seems obvious, but when we didn’t get this from our showers we were like... idk why we can’t just use a towel??
•Safe way to cosleep My husband built a BEAUTIFUL Sidecar Crib, but it was attached on my side of the bed and it took 2.5 weeks for me to have healed enough to climb in bed around it safely with the baby. This way, I didn’t have to bend over to pick up baby or even spit up to check on/soothe him.
•Lactation Suppliment My lactation consultant approved. This one worked well in my breakfast tea.
•Better flanges My poor nipples were so sore and the flames that come with the Medela... well I’m not sure who they’re supposed to fit but not me. My doula practically ordered these for me. GAME CHANGER.
•Pumping bra I was cutting holes in sports bras. This is better.
•Nipple Shells Another kind reddittor sent me in the direction of this AMAZING INVENTION after I posted a photo of ice packs tied to my nipples with a burp cloth because I refused to wear a shirt my nipples hurt so bad. I will be purchasing these for EVERY PREGNANT WOMAN FOREVER. They keep your nipples dry, collect drips, apply counter pressure to keep your nipples shaped correctly for latching, and most importantly omg nothing touches the precious nips and you can wear a shirt!!
•Car mirror
Me: that seems extra, he’s in a car seat and safe why would I need a mirror??
Hormones; HAHAHAAHAHAHAHAH YOU FOOL
•Car adapter for my breast pump Cheaper than batteries
•Shade for his side of the car because anything that wakes up my sleeping baby is the devil. This one has a bonus that allowed me to roll the window down and it was HOT in the south
•Better suction for the breast pump Again- just better than whatever they send you
•My Breast Friend we got the boppy but this one saved my back
•Heating pad Turns out I’ll do ANYTHING to keep the baby asleep when I transfer him to his crib including preheat the darn thing (on low!) before I lay home down
•Stroller Caddy You’ll want somewhere to put your keys, phone, and coffee
•Baby K’tan An easier way for my husband to wear the baby.
•Leggings I had a pair of these before, and they are SO COMFORTABLE on my postpartum body that I bought 5 more in different colors!
•Extra pump parts for whichever pump you have
•A hands-up swaddle I found at Target
•Wine.
Anyway, hope this helps! Best of luck to all of you!
Here is actually for sale:

Woohoo! I've never been gifted, unfortunately. Oh well, that's life!
My word is "skivool" skih-vuul (verb). To skivool is to slide across a hardwood or tile floor in socks. Usage:
"Dude, you just skivooled so hard I thought you were going to crash!"
"Man I just skivooled all across that floor in m new socks."
Either one of these items would be great!
Item 1
Item 2
I see I was paged.
So, this is actually very easy to do, it just depends on how you want to make it work.
Option 1: Power is on all the time, even when the bike is off.
http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=108&cp_id=10826&cs_id=1082603&p_id=10239&seq=1&format=2
And one of these:
http://www.amazon.com/E-PRANCE-Battery-Cigarette-overload-protection/dp/B00D7XNN7O/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1394732327&sr=1-4&keywords=12v+cigarette+lighter+power+adapter
You will cut the CLIPS off of that power socket and solder the fused 12V that you ran from the battery to your dash, to this. MAKE VERY SURE TO DOUBLE CHECK THE POLARITY (+/-) AS YOU GO, so you do not hook anything up backwards.
Then, you just plug in that 2slot USB adapter and BINGO, you have fused 12V USB power at your dash. You can charge TWO phones, ipads, gps, mp3 player, etc....
Depending on the model of the USB adapter, it may actually stay lit (small led on the adapter shows when it has power) all the time. My buddy did this exact install and he leaves it lit for WEEKS and the battery fires right up because the drain is essentially nothing. If you park your bike for long periods of time, just unplug the 2slot USB adapter from the cigarette lighter and that will ensure that there is NO drain from this mod on your battery.
OPTION 2: Run this same setup, but do it from a fuse on your fuse block that gets power only when the bike is on.
To do this, just refer to the Service Manual for your bike, and find the accessory power fuse. An example is here:
http://screwloosedan.com/cm/albums/userpics/10001/Capture~0.JPG
In that pic, the #5 fuse is accessory power.
You can use an "add a line fuse kit" to tap into this accessory power and it even gives you a built in FUSE for the new line (obviously verify that the add a line kit you order is for THE CORRECT FUSE TYPE/SIZE!, this is just an example).
http://www.amazon.com/Shipping-Holder-Circuit-Profile-Automotive/dp/B00EO5P2B4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1394732595&sr=8-2&keywords=add+a+line+fuse
So, for this method, you would install it the same way, but starting at Step 3, because adding this "add a line" kit will give you a fused 12V+ line from the accessores, so you just run your ground (-) line to the frame or to any common ground (like the battery negative terminal).
Get those wires to the dash, and then run the steps above starting at Step 4.
TeslaTap - Tesla to J-1772 Adapter - 40 AMP https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07N55QKFH/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_JWgXCbWS62TSV
Honestly it’s probably cheaper to take your wall connector with you and buy a new J1772 one
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B075JHKBR7?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title
Nah man it's just 2 cables. One runs to your 12v (the cigarette lighter thing) and the other wire you run to the back of the car, the wire connects to the rear camera. (This method only records when the car is on)
If you want parking mode which is basically recording 24/7 you get this https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B075WPSZYH?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title
Instead of connecting to your 12v it connects to your fuse box inside the car so now it's powered by the battery 24/7. My car has this method and I've had it record for 3-4 days without driving and my car started up fine. It'll also turn itself off when it realizes it's been draining the battery for too long.
You can go with this hardwire kit https://www.amazon.com/Blueskysea-Universal-Hardwire-Adapter-Camera/dp/B075WPSZYH
http://www.amazon.com/AdapSonic%C2%AE-Car-Cassette-Adapter-Player/dp/B005LDF6ZK/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1347640414&sr=8-5&keywords=Cassette+MP3
BAM. Now you can actually live in the 2000s, but look like you fell out of the 1990s. (Hammer pants not included.)
I listen to plenty of radio but there's also this and perhaps even cooler which I already ordered: this!
I just got this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003SS62PS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_yuIQyb9A1XSPY
Then connect it to one of these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KNPFUUQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_0xIQyb8R6CDQ8
This model fan doesn't seem to have any speed control, just on or off and oscillate on or off, but it does the job.

If you really wanna make sure it works, you could buy a reverse harness, hook it up to 12v cont. 12v acc. And ground and see if it turns on.
reverse harness
This should be the right harness just double check to make sure. Then you could sell the radio for a bit more since now it has the harness that some ass probably cut off when installing that sweet $35 touch screen.
This is the one Amazon says I got:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07N55QKFH/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I've tested it once, it worked.
FYI, the Mini 0906 requires the 3 wire for parking mode, like the second one I linked. always on, accessory wire, and ground. You can't simply plug it in to a Power Magic Pro or a battery for parking mode to engage automatically. You could probably DIY into one of the dashcam batteries (like Cellink)
See here
To be entirely off-line? Someone suggested a DashCam -- I think that's going be the best road to go down too. Try something like this...

Maybe plug it into a power strip for an easy on/off switch?
Personally, I would hate to pull the SD Card, watch through hours of footage because I wasn't there, and then reinsert SD card later though.
Yeah I just got to there a little earlier tried price matching on amazon and I found these [1], [2]. Now I just need to decide if I want usb integration for an extra 20 bucks or just charging.
Thanks again kind stranger, you've really made my day and saved me hundreds of bucks!
Edit: last question can I be certain that this is legitimate from amazon?
Edit2: fuck it i'm getting straight from grom
Edit3: fuck, it says it doesn't work if there's a DVD, does that mean my DVD won't work? Or that it's not compatible with any unit with a dvd? It's just there for the nav iirc
That's lame. I just a real 80's boombox with a cassette adapter from my MP3 player.
Or, if you want to go fancy, use this.
So, this may be strange but what if you took one of these 110V to 12V cigarette adapters, then went from that to an inverter like this?
Edit: Apparently there are "pure sine wave" inverters that are more expensive than the "modified sine wave" inverters. At that point, you may want to forego the cigarette adapter and just look at a DC 12V power supply which then is wired to a pure sine wave inverter, which appear to be more common in the context of solar installations.
Here's the 3.5mm cable you would need.
If you want iPhone 5+ hookup you would need to use this (or your current iPod connector if you have it) and this.

Is this a good one?
It looks like it plugs right into your fuse box
or this one (since its not on back order)
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072J3L2JN/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&linkCode=sl1&tag=d2f-20&linkId=abc4e1a3ed8c0acde8be2047e1074b9a&th=1
So I have B1W on the sidebar. Much of it is unknown since it is new.
However I put it in the: Excellent video quality, Fair/Poor build quality, Lackluster parking mode category. Not because it deserves it, but because it is Chinese made and anything Chinese made has to prove it self and climb out of this category.
It has several wanted features:
> Wifi, G-sensor and it uses a super capacitor instead of a battery (capacitor is better for hot environments). Build quality is quite good.
> Blueskysea B1W | DashCamTalk - review
These are initial reviews, and are subject to downgrade. Much like the A119 v1, and A119S v1 suffered many downgrades.
Others like this dash cam, however, for me, I am quiet jaded. I don't want anything that looks like fair/poor build quality. I am tired of maintaining the current dash cams that I have. My future dash cams are Excellent build quality, Excellent parking mode, Good/Fair video quality dash cams - Korean made.
---
For me, I would blow your budget anyways:
Or for better video quality:
---
If I had to downshift, I would purchase:
Excellent build quality, Excellent parking mode, Good/Fair video quality: No wifi/cellphone app: 1CH
or
Excellent build quality, Excellent parking mode, Fair video quality: No wifi/cellphone app: 1CH
However, I would not be pleased to do so.
I definitely want 2ch, Excellent build quality, Excellent parking mode, Good/Fair video quality, and wifi/cellphone app.
---
If I had to go below that:
B1W ($55 USD) + ($20 USD) 64gb Micro SD Card + Cheap Hardwire kit ($17 USD) <- Micro USB (Most dash cams are Mini USB) so be aware you need Micro USB) = Total cost ($92 USD)
Of course I would have liked to get a High Endurance, MLC based Micro SD card, with error correction. However ($40 USD) for 32gb for Transcend High Endurance is becoming ridiculous in price. Samsung Evo should be "good enough."
You could go with a cheaper hardwire kit ($13 USD) but you want to be very sure the tap a fuse matches your vehicle. 2ndary fuse also (separate purchase) matches your vehicle. 1st fuse comes from your car, and protects your car, 2nd fuse (separate purchase) 5amp protects your dash cam. 1st is closest to the blade, 2nd is further away.
You can get a USB-MDI cord online. Volkswagen charges an outrageous amount for it, but you can get them elsewhere.
This one fit the Mk6 GTI for me, I am not sure it will be compatible with the Mk7, that may take some research.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004SQ0VWE/
If it's anything like the 2005 JBL system I have, you just get a radio harness that allows you to plug the RCA output of the head unit straight into the input of the amp, allowing you to retain the factory amp. For some reason, it seems that you need a fancier harness than me, with a little box that allows "Adjustable input gain compatible for USB update" (that's how the description words it). It looks like the harness/interface you need is this one to retain your factory amp.
https://www.amazon.com/Pyle-PL12V2CP-Cigarette-Lighter-Multiplier/dp/B003OEN4SO
That would make it fit and you get an extra outlet.
Here if Amazon is an option for you.
https://www.amazon.ca/UGREEN-Cigarette-Splitter-Compatible-Delivery/dp/B0771MDFST this would be good then right? It's got pd w

If you're ever confused on what power adapter to get, the device should have the expected DC voltage and amperage listed somewhere near the barrel connector. Something like "12V 3A" (12 Volts and 3 Amps).
Something like this should work if the requirement is 1.5A:
https://www.amazon.com/Storite-Adapter-Seagate-External-Western/dp/B07H2VQBF7/ref=pd_day0_hl_23_1/131-7028079-9877560?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B07H2VQBF7&pd_rd_r=317ad82b-9374-4b28-81d8-2c2558fbad63&pd_rd_w=ouMb4&pd_rd_wg=NpCTG&pf_rd_p=0501877d-5f8c-4ec8-9861-e0476eecc53e&pf_rd_r=6AQH0CGHT5XQ81TD2015&psc=1&refRID=6AQH0CGHT5XQ81TD2015
This is the power cable it uses (minus the cigarette charger end obviously). Looking at the Q&A on Amazon and it looks like it outputs 1.5A (which is good, I think?).
I haven't actually ventured into the fuse box in my car. If need be, I can.
Like this?
Or perhaps more like this?
Maybe more like this?
