  1. Wash area with hibiclens generic walgreens. The generic one at walgreens does not have dye. He can use this stuff like a mask and rub a bit on after cleaning the area, and leave it on for a few minutes. This will take care of the acne. Do this twice a day. However, if it gets dry from using this, I would follow it up with Sebamed Clear Face Care Gel as a moisturizer on the area.

If he picks and pops the area a lot, I would say buy some sterile lancets from walgreens or cvs like these

After cleaning the area, he can gently use the lancet on the pimple(s) in question. He doesn't have to squeeze them. Then apply a hydrocolloid bandage over the pimples, and wear it for 12-48 hours. This will draw out all the puss and fluids and will heal them quicker.

    Good luck!

Yes, but also no.

Promethease pegged my general blood group as "probably" group A, but there wasn't enough info in my 23andme raw data for them to tell definitively.

My blood is actually A+, which I know because it was tested while I was pregnant.

It's a pretty simple test, easy to do yourself.

Here you go. We use these silicone protective cases and they work great. Ours came with two different sizes. One size fit our Lantus vials perfectly (which are taller). The other size fit both Humalog and Novolog vials perfectly.

I'm guessing it's a rental so you can't use any nails, screws, or anything which will mark the walls?

If so, I'm in the same boat. I've been using some picture hanging strips which are basically like a velcro that goes on the wall. So far it's held my frames up for months in my last place and in this one. When it came time to leave the last one the frame pops off the wall easily, and then you stretch the sticky part of the hanging strip to make it release (there are fully instructions on the pack). I can highly recommend them.

It’s a lancet. Specifically a medipoint one. I was given one previously by an esthetician after a wax for some ingrown hairs. I’ve been using them ever since. Found most recently on amazon.

Are you in the Diabetic Dogs Facebook group? My childhood dog is Diabetic and we were able to find out about Relion (~$30 for a vial that lasts around 6 weeks for her) and we even learned about a Syringe Snipper that holds 1,000 or so needle tips so you can dispose of the syringes normally, and then just dispose of the needle tips via however you dispose of biohazard/sharps.

sterilize the milia with a q-tip dipped in hydrogen peroxide then pull the skin taught and puncture the side (not the top) of the milia with a lancet.
do not, i repeat, DO NOT use a needle or a lancet that’s attached to a facial tool. those items are not sterilized and they are not sharp enough to finish the job. use 2 dry q-tips or your fingers wrapped in kleenex to extract the milia. don’t push too hard: if it does not pop out easily then apply a tiny drop of antibiotic cream and slap a hydrocolloid bandaid on the sucker. let it sit overnight. the bandaid will draw excess fluid from the puncture wound and keep the area clean.

I hope this isn’t considered to be “product pushing” or against the admin rules but my parents got me these before I transitioned to a pump. It’s small, easy to carry, and FDA approved so you can throw the syringe away in a normal trash bin after it’s clipped!

I still carry one in my purse to clip lancets and pump filler needles. Hoping this will help you save on space!

I don't backpack or do any long hiking (just camping and day hikes). This is all coming from a strength & conditioning POV.

But IMO peanuts or any other nuts are harder to digest, and some studies have even shown that we don't even use all of the nutrients that comes from nuts, so no.

Simple sugars will always be easier to digest, so spoonfuls of sugar would be one of the easiest sources of carbs, but wouldn't taste very good.

Something like this would be one of the most simple forms of sugar you could consume. These types of gels is what most endurance athletes use.

You sound like you're in america. Do you have a Walmart or drug store nearby so that you can grab one of these just to have on hand? $9 is cheaper than an ER visit, but at this point it sounds like you need to go in.

Medical debt is just that, medical debt. If you're already in it, some more isn't going to make it worse. They're not going to send you away because you owe them money. They're going to treat you and add another bill to the mix, but all it is, is a bill. Go get help before you do something to yourself that will cost you even more.

u/andrewmhunt · 3 pointsr/keto

The only real product that you can purchase is a blood ketone monitor; something like this.

That being said; they're expensive, and it's certainly worth asking the question "do I really need to be that aware of my blood ketone levels?". For most people, the answer is no because there are other metrics you can use to track your progress towards your personal health goals:

  • Athletic performance
  • Tape measure (take measurements)
  • Caliper readings
  • Energy levels
  • etc
u/ca1ibos · 3 pointsr/oculus

Also note that with the base stalk removed and the cameras mounted on little CCTV mounts, they are so light you can get away with using those 3M Command strips to affix the mounts to the walls. No drilling required.

I use these and these

u/bloodien0se · 3 pointsr/diabetes

Get yourself one of these and call it a day. I use pens and the very short bd needle caps, I tend to just crush the needle, then cap them with both caps and call it a day. When I was using syringes I would crush them, cap them, then just pull out the plunger and throw both parts away. I might be an awful person for doing these things, anyone may feel free to school me on all the lives I'm putting in danger.

Insulin is pretty heat stable nowadays... I would not leave in in the car at 110 degrees, but I would not worry too much about it. If it is a comfortable temperature for you to sit in, it is alright for your insulin.

If you are really worried about it, I use one of THESE when I use to worry about it. You can keep one ice pack in a cooler and the other in the pack and then switch them out from time to time. But to be honest, I travel to tropical climates all the time and never use the cooler packs.

u/AzureKnights · 3 pointsr/keto

When I started, it was based on feel. I felt noticeably more energized and kinda tingly at first. Now, I use ketone strips to track progress, whenever I pee. xD The side of the bottle has the scale for the test.

u/300mhz · 3 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

Yeah this is exactly how I use my HCB's. I have cystic acne, so I let the pimple come to a head, lance them with these and cover with the bandage. It speeds healing time dramatically and significantly reduces scarring. But yes, as you said, I doubt they would work effectively, or at all, on closed blackheads; unless it physically removes it, as I find my HCB's are Very sticky.

u/elisha_gunhaus · 3 pointsr/Interstitialcystitis

I have struggled a lot with this. It got to the point where I thought I could definitely tell the difference between a UTI and a flare, but I would go to the doc for a urinalysis just to be told that there was no sign of infection.

This product saved me many a time. Super cheap and way cheaper than what I thought was the only similar product on the market.

I have the Genteel lancing device and this actually might be good option for you. You can prick almost anywhere for a blood sample and I almost never feel a thing. Genteel Lancing Device (Butterfly Blue) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B013PT28XO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_1mytDbPPWVAP3

Use the sides of your fingers, rotate which fingers you use. Don't use alcohol wipes.

Alternately, get a CGM like the Dexcom or a flash reader like the Freestyle Libre so you don't need to test your blood as often. These things are real game changers. If you're testing a lot they will really change your life and your control.

Another choice is a Genteel lancing device:https://www.amazon.co.uk/Genteel-Lancing-Device-Butterfly-Blue/dp/B013PT28XO I've never used one but a lot of people swear by them.

You'll eventually need to turn up the depth on your lancing device because you'll develop calluses, this is pretty normal when pricking your finger a lot.

u/KeepYourClawsOut · 2 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

I can't tell you if its safe, but I do this all the time without thinking of it. If I pop a couple that are close, I'll cut the bandage big enough to cover them all. Maybe thats why they keep coming back in the same places....

Ill grab a link to amazon for you, these lancets I use are awesome.

No, rectal tears aren’t an ER visit thing, as long as the bleeding has stopped. What they’ll do is shove some gauze in our buttcrack, prescribe you some stool softeners and send you home with a $1500 bill (once went to the ER for a rectal fissure! Got fucked in the ass harder there than earlier).

That said, yeah you need a ton of lube, always err on the side of zeal, the rectum has NO lubrication, so it will never, ever be pleasurable or safe to have anal sex without enough lube. I recommend a silicone based gel, they’re better for anal because they don’t soak in, and the gel will prevent drip-through.

Also, if you’re having trouble getting the lube inside, it’s gonna sound silly, but syringes like you’d use for wound irrigation are a good option.

So for the record, I didn’t use this one specifically, it’s just the first one I saw: link

From the photo, the bright blue things are lancets - they’re basically the needles that go into your fingers. You’ll want to alternative fingers when testing - that helps prevent scarring (if you reuse them too much, it’ll get dull which causes the scarring). New lancet per blood draw. You’ll want to take the blood from the sides of the finger (though idk why) - too far to the side though and it’ll hurt more than necessary.

The test strips (here’s a closer look) are what reads your blood after pricking your finger. The side with the arrow goes into the machine and you’ll want the strip in the machine before you draw the blood (other side of strip, in the middle). Not sure if it was my machine being finicky, but I had to angle it a certain way so the blood wasn’t drawn up too quickly or the machine would throw up an error - you’ll have to play around with that. The strips are really the most expensive part in all of this (there’s bits of gold in it) but it’s also the bit you can’t reuse.

The silver pen looking thing is what holds the lancet. You basically open it like a pen and put a lancet in before recapping. You’ll probably have numbers - the lower the number, the less the lancet comes out (shallower prick), the higher the number, the more the needle comes out (deeper prick / if you develop calluses).

Ideal, by the books method of using it is alcohol swab the finger/area you will prick. Put a new lancet into the pen thing. Turn on machine and put the strip in. Immediately prick, squeeze blood out, dip the strip into the puddle of blood and wait the 1-2 seconds for your result (or notification of error...in which case you repeat the dipping with a new test strip). Clean and bandage your finger.

You’ll want most tests under 140. Occasional blips are ok (ie your baby shower and gender reveal are ok) but don’t make it a daily thing.

The meals don’t have to be full sit down meals - 3 normal meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) + 3 snacks in between...which is a lot easier said than done in the beginning. After like a week, I found myself constantly starving so that made eating a lot easier (ofc then I found myself staring longingly at my food and waiting for the next meal to come).

For tracking purposes, I found glucose buddy to be great. I jotted down what I ate in the notes section and at the end of the week, you can download a report with your numbers and your meals come up as little footnotes.

Edit: as an aside, the monitor comes with a pouch for you to put everything into. There’s a mesh zipper pocket on one side (for bandaids, alcohol pads, lancets) and elastic bands on the other. Both the pen and monitor goes alongside the spine, the test strips stay in the container it comes in and goes perpendicular to the spine.

Do the meters have a list of strips that they support?

This meter tests with Ketone results as well. I was thinking of getting this one.

There are some good tips on computer settings in this thread, but also I would strongly, strongly recommend the keto diet. Keeping carbs below net 50g per day for a solid two weeks will have a dramatic effect on your game. I have had ET since I was 12, I play Overwatch a lot and I try to do keto for about 2 weeks every 6 weeks or so, the more I do it the better things get over time. I got a ketosis blood glucose meter and when measuring in the late afternoon my ketone levels got up to around 3.0 which is where they need to be by the end of the first week. MCT oil on top of this also helped. Granted yes, the keto diet sucks balls, but when you get the reward of higher cognition and less tremor and see your game dramatically improve, it's worth it. Plus you really don't need to do it for longer than a couple weeks to a month. Honestly I can't get past 2 weeks so far but it's still got lasting effects.

u/Browngirl1983 · 1 pointr/PCOS

I use this pen and the tiny needles it came with to prick. It doesn't hurt like the regular meter needles so I don't need to brace myself for anything. You can also adjust the pen so that it doesn't shoot as deeply, or make it more deep if you have thick skin.

You might need a new meter, but that's also fairly cheap:

I got 150 test strips for like $7... Maybe "jump start" was a poor term. BHB acts as natural ketones till your body produces them. If your life requires you to be on top of your game and cannot afford down time BHB while not free will help you avoid the drain in that 48 hour period. Imagine being new to ketosis and constantly falling out of ketosis, a short two day period multiplied every time a mistake is made or you slip up.

Checking your ketones while not using BHB will help make sure your diet is in check and help you find out what works and what doesn't. Personal experiences vary, you do better without it while others may find it useful. Obsessing over anything is bad. Finding what works for you is what is important.

Hey, you're okay. Try and calm down. You don't even know that you have diabetes. There's other reasons for this. Try and get one of these, sleep with a pillow at the bottom of your bed so you don't hit the foot board, and try and get some better fitting shoes. Check your feet daily for any open wounds or redness.
