Since everybody who sees these is immediately going to want to go buy them (myself included!), here's the Amazon listing.

Seki Stainless Steel Nail Clipper, still clips my nails like a boss and it has some nice weight to it, feels like BIFL quality.

u/Alexandre_Dumbass · 21 pointsr/lifehacks

Get a pair of clippers with the plastic nail catcher enclosure, like these:
http://www.amazon.com/Seki-SS-101-Deluxe-Fingernail-Clipper/dp/B000SSDTOI/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1427211486&sr=8-6&keywords=fingernail+clippers

They're usually a buck or two more at a convenience store.

u/vitriol78 · 15 pointsr/BuyItForLife

I have the same problem, my nails are incredibly hard to cut.

After breaking 3 different nail clippers in a day, I found these: seki nail clipper

Made of stainless steel and very sharp, they really cut your nail instead of tearing it like most nail clippers.

I’ve had mine (normal nailclipper, not the toenail clipper) for about 6 years now and still looks and works as new.

u/[deleted] · 14 pointsr/BuyItForLife

I've had the Seki Edge for a few months. I have every reason to expect that it will last forever. Even the cheap ones have lasted me for 10+ years. This one is much better quality though. The reviews on Amazon seem very accurate to me, check out what other people are saying.

u/gid0ze · 13 pointsr/BuyItForLife

I thought spending $15 for some nail clippers was a bit much. Another Japanese company, got these:
https://www.amazon.com/SS-106-Stainless-Steel-Fingernail-Clipper/dp/B000F35R00

and they work awesome. My old nail clippers actually did break, some nail clippers that I bought in Utah on vacation in the late 80s as a kid.

I've never felt like my own advice could be more applicable. I have a minor obsession with keeping my nails clipped. I've carried a pair of nail clippers on me every day for a little over the past 6 years and have gone through a few pairs. I would say I trim my nails at least a bit every day.

First pair was the standard cheapo ones you would get at the counter at CVS. I think these either broke or were lost. Fun fact, with a simple pair of nail clippers you can cut, strip, unscrew and reattach the starter cable of a '92 GTI.

The next pair was a similar OTC one, except this time with a rubberized "sport grip". I never used these during sports. These lasted me a while and eventually met their demise when I had to use them as a tool and took a big chunk out of the cutting edge.

After that I got a pair of the Tweezerman ones some other people had mentioned here. I got these last April and they died on me this July. I really liked the cutting edge on these, but the post part failed. If you look at it like a rivet, the "edge" part of the rivet that keeps the post from pulling through wore away until it did eventually pull through.

It was at this point that I figured it was time to step up my game and look for some BIFL clippers. I looked around and ended up settling on the Seki Edge. Holy crap these things are awesome. I was genuinely scared of them the first time I used them because I thought I would accidentally take a chunk out of my finger. The design of the lever part is so solid they are in a totally different class.

Of course after those showed up I figured out I was able to repair the Tweezerman ones by swapping the post from pair #2. They ended up being WAY better than stock and are now my daily driver which I use just to trim. I leave the Seki at home for when I'm doing a full blown cut.

And that is more than I ever thought I would type about nail clippers...

u/klevenisms204 · 12 pointsr/popping

after shower, take a tiny ball of toilet paper and cram it in there (it may be uncomfortable)

put a bandaid on, and go about your day

keep changing toilet paper ball every mornign and night. eventually it will somewhat scar up the area and you'll be able to get in there and go to work

ive suffered with this shit for over half my life. i have no nail on my big left toe (its more like a nub from phenol), the right toe gets ingrown every so often and this is my 'go to' method.

angled finger nail clippers help really get in there

u/GaysianGirl · 8 pointsr/actuallesbians

long distance or not - get good clippers. unless you're willing to invest filing time - which i am not. good clippers give you a good clean cut, no need to file.
http://www.amazon.com/Extra-Clipper-Solingen-Germany-F-Hammann/dp/B00G6JZHJI/ref=sr_1_3?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1405047137&sr=1-3

these are decent.

u/suredoes123 · 8 pointsr/everymanshouldknow

As someone who bit their nails for ~24 yrs I now agree with this entirely. Glass files are great. Clip and file after you shower, it softens your nails. takes some time to get better at it but the long smooth/curved strokes are key.

EDIT: good nail clippers are helpful. They are sharper and leave a cleaner cut. You might say why would I spend so much on clippers I can get them for $1. Because you are trying to do a better job taking care of yourself that's why.

  1. Do you pick at them? Roll your index fingers over them? Bit/Chew on them? Maybe there's a habit you need to correct.

  2. Can you think of anything you do that might dry out your skin?

I cut large stacks of paper at work and it took me ages to figure out the paper dust was demolishing my skin. Not only that but hardwater and cheap soap weren't helping either.

Now I moisturize every time after washing my hands, take fish oil tablets, and make sure I'm getting enough calcium. Diet makes a difference. :)

They mostly look dried out and as /u/Rootman points out below a cuticle cutter will help you maintain them. If your hangnails get too long they will constantly tug and tear at the base of your cuticles and they'll never get a chance to properly heal. Good luck!

Do not clip my cuticles, but these are the shit for nails anyway...

u/Lazy_sleep · 5 pointsr/BuyItForLife

Hi, first time posting on this sub, I recently bought the [Green Bell Nail clipper G-1008] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000FQS9AC/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1). I bought it based off one of the recommendations of the sidebar and love it. Good build, sharp edge, and the 'handle' design is very ergonomic. Hope this helps.

u/stoned_geologist · 4 pointsr/Ultralight

I picked up this which I really like. I tried the scissors and found the extra weight to be worth it. It folds up flat and fits in my ditty bag nicely.

EDIT: Format and to add that since it folds up it doesn't have any sharp edges to cut my cuben bag.

u/henryharp · 4 pointsr/AskMen

Invest in two things:

A good comb: once you get a saw made comb you’ll realize how much your cheap comb was pulling and tugging your hair.

Good nail clippers:get clean cuts and then file down the rough edges so you don’t scratch yourself/girlfriend/furniture. You’re a guy, not wolverine.

u/unlodgical · 3 pointsr/RandomActsOfPolish

Oh! I've been drooling over that color forever. Good choice! ;) Are you a big red fan?

It's just a regular clipper with a cover on the bottom which collected the clippings so you can dump it into the garbage in one go.

Here is one with a metal collection piece on it, personally I wouldn't spend $12 on nail clippers but I am sure you can find one for cheaper elsewhere.

you know what works really well?

in most stores beauty sections they sell a nail cutter with the blades on the side, like a tiny pair of scissors but at just the right angle to clip away ingrown nails. works perfect and it was my most prized tool for a few years lol.

Alternately you can spend a few extra bucks on a "Clip & Catch" pair of clippers.

u/autumnatix · 2 pointsr/RedditLaqueristas

Have you tried any like these?

u/Crissie2389 · 2 pointsr/RandomActsOfPolish

DON'T GO NEAR ILNP!!! Not if you want to build your collection up without spending a lot since their polishes are mainly $10 each...I may spend too much money on them because thy're gorgeous holos.

Howver if you want to get into gels for cheaps definitely get one of those Sally Hansen starter sets that comes with the lights they're around $20-30 depending on where you find them, This is a cheap one with the color "Wine Not?" so even fi you dislike the color you'll have base and top coat and the light to begin playing with it, they have others but as you can see the other colors are more expensive for no reason you get the same things only a different color. You may be able to find these in a place like Wal-Mart or Sally Beauty for cheaper.

As for acrylics never done them and never likes them so not any help there, but for tools here are some links to some good ones that are cheap. They may take a little ot ship but I will forego spending a ton for shipping in favor of having more to spend on stuff. Here's a cuticle set, I've got this and it works nice. And here is some dotting tools and little gems, there are definitely good review on these and I've ordered other supplies from this seller before. So if you want to branch out from one colors and do little splashes of designs these work.

You may also look into nail vinyls for doing patterns and such first then invest in some brushes for free hand designs later on since it gets easier then. For now get going on things and enjoy painting again, hope some of this rambling of suggestions helped!

Victorinox do a very good, small, compact and lightweight nail clipper with file.

Edit: I have very thick toenails and they cut them very easily. Here’s the link to them on amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/Victorinox-Nail-clipper-nail-stainless/dp/B001U52C9Q/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?keywords=victorinox+nail+clipper&qid=1558189290&s=gateway&sprefix=victorinox+na&sr=8-2

u/throwaway145231324 · 2 pointsr/Reformed

I have tourette's syndrome and that means I have actual physical and verbal tics. One of my compulsive tics was nailbiting. However, I found a surprisingly simple and effective way to completely quit.

It's yours for just 3 easy payments of $19.99.

Kidding. Here is how.

You know how when your nails get too short, you stop biting that nail and you kind of hope there is another one to bite next? Then you're a little frustrated if they are all too short to bite?

So here is the solution. As soon as you notice your nails are long enough to bite, clip them with nail clippers and file the rough edge. Keep a couple sets of nail clippers at your desk at home, at work, in the car and on your keychain.

These are the best nail clippers I have ever owned and they can go on your keychain:

https://smile.amazon.com/Victorinox-8-2055-CB-clippers-stainless-Blister/dp/B001U52C9Q/ref=sr_1_6?crid=6JX2ZVGAEKVE&keywords=swiss+army+nail+clippers&qid=1550282545&s=gateway&sprefix=swiss+army+nail%2Caps%2C149&sr=8-6

Now, whenever you would normally bite your nails, none of them are long enough to bite.

u/allineedisasedative · 2 pointsr/funny

It's dangerous to go alone. Take this

u/smilingfemalemachine · 2 pointsr/RedditLaqueristas

Something like these. I'm sure you can find them at a beauty supply store or something, too. I've rarely ever seen them at a drugstore, but sometimes you'll get lucky.

u/I_fight_demons · 2 pointsr/malegrooming

I did the classic 'search for item on Amazon and grab the cheapest/top option' and got this.

I've been very happy with it- only thing it lacks that I think I may want to use is an emory board. I've never used one, but figure it might also be useful, but emory boards are dollar store items for sure. It has the file, which I've used a small amount but not had anything really noteworthy come of it. Oh, and the tweezers totally suck, so there's that.

On the plus side, you feel like a bond villain opening up a torture kit every time you pull it out!

u/240snusit · 2 pointsr/BuyItForLife

If anyone is looking for a high quality pair of nail clippers which also has a very handy compartment for cut nails that can be easily emptied out into a trash can (and that doesn't put a big dent in your wallet) I recommend the one's Muji makes - https://www.amazon.com/MUJI-nail-clipper-Japan-Small/dp/B00ECPRRIC (Not a referral link) I've used mine for a while and I really like it.

u/jspires · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Just under $3! These would be so handy to have!

Can you feel the love - because I can!

You're the best!!

u/MadNachos · 2 pointsr/LifeProTips

If you have really thick nails this can be helpful, but I think a better bit of advice is to spend a few bucks on some really good clippers like the ones made by Seki Edge. They are under $20, last forever, and work way batter than generic clippers. And don't share them with anyone...good way to get nail fungus.

u/turtlenipples · 2 pointsr/DecidingToBeBetter

I carry this Victorinox set. They fold nice and flat, hang well on your key ring, do a great job of cutting and filing, and they last for years. I've had mine for four years this summer, and I've heard others say they've lasted for 20+.

u/boywonder5691 · 2 pointsr/HadToHurt

Use these to keep the sides trimmed and you will never have a problem again. I bought them a few years back and they are great

u/SirMontego · 1 pointr/LifeProTips

And use a good nail clipper. The missus laughed when I bought a $12 nail clipper, now she won't even share it with me. So now we have two $12 nail clippers.

This is the one:

u/7Sans · 1 pointr/LifeProTips

as someone who has Korean/Japanese parents I always wondered why in America it never has clipper with the blocker that prevents nails flying around

for example:

https://www.amazon.com/MUJI-nail-clipper-Japan-Small/dp/B00ECPRRIC/ref=sr_1_9_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1518708639&sr=8-9&keywords=japanese+nail+clippers

you see how in that one the white plastic materialish sleeve blocks all the nails flying off? and those can come off, so you can just dump all the nails that was trapped inside by releasing the plastic part and put it right back in

The "Henckels Ultra-Slim"

Maybe we could talk CountyComm into finding us a titanium nail clipper; they carry Ti tweezers, pens, lighters, flashlights, gated clips, money clips, screw-links, several widgy bars, and split rings in three sizes. Handy stuff, and some useful UL items for various kits.

Nail edge bothers the crap out of me. If they're not smooth, my mind just focuses on that and drives me nuts. I've bought a really nice nail clipper that trims nails smoothly without any issues. I never do it with wet fingernails as they always get a poor edge. :(

u/polysyllabist2 · 1 pointr/LifeProTips

NO NO NO NO NO

Do no do this. Do not clip after a shower with your low grade walgreens clippers. Buy actual quality clippers, yes for $15 and then clip them dry. Not only is it easy, but you don't get that awful feeling and sound that you do with shit clippers.

u/DocmanCC · 1 pointr/BuyItForLife

Along with the Seki Edge, flat style clippers are great if you carry them around in your pocket.

This one is somewhat widely available. I've seen them at nordstrom, for example. I have a similar one made by Dovo that sadly isn't available anymore.

u/spockrocker522 · 1 pointr/calmhands

I agree with other people saying that you need to keep a pair of nail clippers with you at all times. Running my fingers along my cuticle, if I feel any rough or sharp pieces sticking up, I will just clip it off, and there is not even anything left to bite and rip up! I started doing that when I started my nursing career, because open wounds on your fingers are very dangerous if you're around nasty germs all day. This nail clipper has truly saved my fingers. I highly encourage you hop on amazon right now and buy 2 or 3! It folds completely flat and also has a spot where it can be attached to a keyring. Also, stimulants can exacerbate any anxiety you may have. That means that drinking coffee or any other sources of caffeine can make your cuticle biting worse, so be cognizant of what makes you bite and try to reduce it. If necessary, see a psychiatrist and try to control any anxiety you may have. This was also part of what helped me stop! My cuticles look great, but just a year ago they looked just like yours! Good luck and I know you can do it!

u/gunrot · 1 pointr/lifehacks

Well I use a straight clipper like this one.
And what I do, which has about a 80% success rate, is clip the nail like so: http://imgur.com/WuDISV4
Somtimes you just know it's gonna fly off so aim at the trash can, or put your hand near a plastic bag to catch it.
For toenails, it helps if you have a tiled bathroom floor. Then you can cut them before you clean the bathroom.
