> It's really expensive

It's not THAT expensive. $3.20/lb and it ships Amazon Prime.

The fire pits that you put it in can be kinda costly tho. Cheapest one I could find was $220.

Ah, in Amazon it shows $1150 + $450 shipping.

Oh yeah, they are selling it for $1000 in Etsy.

As far as I know they should be contained and small. Per the website

>Please extinguish all flames and grills before entry or departure from the game. (No open burning in garbage cans or on the ground)

If it gets to big or not in an enclosed side fire pit they might extinguish it.

Hey so I brought one of these last year and it was amazing! It folds up and comes with a carrying bag so it's super small to pack.

Cool, you have a lot more people to worry about heating than I do ha! I personally use this one (Amazon - $57) because there's 2 people at it and it folds. The legs are wobbly and need some fixing before use though. Still a good option is portability is very important.

But for bigger groups, I see a lot of people using custom ones similar to this (Amazon - $87) since they are deeper and throw more heat to the sides. They do seem to let out a lot more floating sparks as it settles so these might put small holes in nearby tents if you add a lot of wood.

FWIW my next one will probably be this one since it has a top and opens from the side - easier to add wood when it's burning hot imo! Plus it still has those little ports for foot heat. I just wish it was something other than woodland creatures cut into the metal ha.

Good luck!

You guys think something like this is ok? Been eyeing it.

I'm going to head to dump and look on craigslist but if I can't find anything suitable and feel like paying... what do you think of this?

It is perfect size (my stones have an inner diameter of ~32") at 28" diameter inside. It looks 2" space between the metal and the stone. I assume that's sufficient?

It's also the same height as my stacked stones.

I'm not sure it's bad that the ring hangs on the top of the stone edge. But not sure how hot that will get an how much heat will transfer. That's the biggest downside I see. Other than cost.

The one thing that's troubling is that all the corrugated metal rings I find that they sell are galvanized steel. Heck a lot of steel is galvanized. I'm fairly certain that creates toxic fumes. But then they sell galvanized rings FOR FIRE PITS. So maybe I'm wrong?

This one is just painted. I'm sure the paint will come off but won't get poisoned by toxic fumes (I think it's some sort of zinc or something).

Available on Amazon (disclaimer: not a seller, just curious and looked it up).

Making a fire inside the brick paver ring will make the bricks in the ring hot. They'll expand/contract and can break.

If you put a metal insert inside, the bricks will last longer.

Example of an insert:

Considering these would burn out quite easily, if you wanted to get even more metal, Amazon has a skull shaped "firelog" which is made out of lava rocks. Here.

Description:

> The log is steel reinforced, plus produced with lave granules

It is an electric fireplace made by Dynasty. It does put out heat. Link is below.

This was $70 and I didn't have to do shit.

I also didn't have to use the pretentious, douche-chill inducing word "upcycle".
