Under an hour drive from Charlotte, the Catawba is a good starting point but better options exist in Columbia SC or elsewhere in NC (Green River, Deep Creek, French Broad)

Floating can be a wonderful activity for hot weekends, the Catawba is pretty warm so don't expect a huge cool off.

If you want to make a go of it once or twice a year, DIY and save the $20/person charge of companies.

Some suggestions to get you started:

You can just get a ball pump needle that attaches to the schrader side of any bike pump: http://www.amazon.com/Ball-Inflating-Pump-Needle-Adaptor/dp/B006U9TZ3S

Most new pumps come with those as well as an air mattress inflating attachment.

u/tehGeko · 6 pointsr/Referees

Just get two cheap pumps, two cheap gauges. When one breaks, use the other "brand new" one and buy another. No problem! Sometimes "dependability" means just covering your bases.

u/EatMoarToads · 6 pointsr/teslamotors

I used this air mattress and this pump.. The mattress was mediocre- very comfy when fully inflated but did lose air overnight so was a bit saggy by morning. The pump worked perfectly. I did meet someone at a supercharger who said he used a memory foam topper and claimed it was more comfortable than his regular bed... I would at least look into that if doing it again.

Since (a) the rear seats do not fold completely flat and (b) there's about a 1.5-2 inch height diff between the seats and the trunk space, I put several collapsed cardboard boxes in the back to level the sleep surface. A smarter thing to do would be to cut some dense foam to the shape of the trunk space, but nevertheless my cheap bootleg solution was pretty level.

I got the sunshades (the complete set minus pano roof) from evannex for privacy and to keep out light. With the exception of the rear shade, these worked beautifully. The rear shade depends on suction cups to adhere to the window and some of them don't work very well.

Most highway rest areas are, I think, plenty safe. It turns out a lot of people do this... I definitely was rarely, if ever, the only one sleeping in his/her car.

Lastly, I advise sleeping with your head toward the rear. I didn't do this until someone on /r/teslamotors suggested it, and it made a huge difference in comfort because I could stretch my legs out over the center console if I wanted to.

Here's the informal AMA I did while on the road :)

u/the_dan_man · 4 pointsr/whatisthisthing

Yep, it's an air pump, connected to the car's air intake system.

Looks like the hose connects downstream of the air filter, which means that turning the pump on would just send dusty air into the engine...

EDIT: STL_reddit pointed out that the hose directly connected to the pump actually goes in the air intake before the filter. Combine that with the bit of hose sticking out between the filter and the engine, and I now have no idea what they were trying to do.

I found those battery pumps to be unreliable. Get one of these. Less than $9.

Been using this one, its $45 and it's held up for the couple months and 3sih 48ci fills I've had it for. Genuinely though, expect a 40 minute workout every night for the week leading up to the game to put ~3k psi into a tank

Or check grocery stores, drug stores, Walmart etc. It's about time to blow out their summer stock. I'd look for a hand or foot powered volume pump - last one I bought was $3 I think.

Always carried this when I played and ref’d. Invaluable.

Glad I was helpful. And I just remembered what I forgot to add. Sell Pumps too! They will eventually want to inflate your Floats.

If your product is already prepackaged then you may want to use Amazon Fulfillment Services. You can then offer the Pump cheaply because it would be an "Add-On Item" for the purchase. Here is one for just $6.98 if your customers are Amazon Prime or you can just let Amazon handle the transaction separately and sell them something like a Foot Bellows Pump. By letting Amazon warehouse your product you save money and have a single distribution source. See what offers Amazon has for how many people you get signed up for Amazon Prime.

This could play out really well for you guys. The Larger Sized Floats should attract "luxury" buyers for their larger pools but you can also show the Float in both a Large Pool setting and At The Beach too! Larger Floats work really well in calm surf beaches such as Florida. Expand that customer base by expanding application.

Well, anyway, I've got to do some fun fun accounting for my end of season book keeping to do. I'll keep an eye on you guys. Have Fun!

I use an older version of the Intex Downy (twin), with a battery powered pump
http://www.amazon.com/Intex-Classic-Downy-Royal-Blue/dp/B005Z3SG76/ref=sr_1_6?s=outdoor-recreation&ie=UTF8&qid=1395158277&sr=1-6

This newer version seems to have a built in foot pump, which would be helpful

I've had good success with my older model, and for the price it is a good deal. Once folded it doesn't take up too much space.

I use this 2 in 1 ball pump and gauge. It gets the job done for me and is $20. I can’t say much for this electronic pump, but have seen some people I’ve worked with use it without a problem and it only costs $22

u/Gretna20 · 2 pointsr/cycling

Yep, just need some of these

u/[deleted] · 2 pointsr/cycling

That's a quick release schrader head, it's common.

If you want to fit it on a tube with a presta valve, you'll need a presta to schrader adapter. It goes on your presta tube.

Are these illegal? Would they circumvent the blower thing?

u/Raptor01 · 1 pointr/camping

Cheap air mattresses. Just make sure that 4 of them side-by-side will fit in your tent. This pump works well: https://amzn.com/B00N6XBIP4

Cots take a lot of space and pads are usually uncomfortable.

The only downside of air mattresses aside from the size is that they don't work well for cold weather.

This would be easy enough to use and small enough not to get caught...

u/Kurisuchein · 1 pointr/camping

Here is the Canadian version, apparently. I assume it'd work the same. Why wouldn't you recommend a bike pump? Too slow/weak?

u/Yokuo · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

How about something to cut vegetables with? It'd promote healthy eating! :)

Or something to re-inflate those exercise balls and mats they already have?

Or maybe a workout book?

Hopefully one of those would work!

EDIT: Flipped the .com links for .ca ones!

u/definitelynotaspy · 1 pointr/CampingGear

If you'll have a car around you can just use the cigarette lighter outlet and one of these:

u/scornucopia · 1 pointr/airguns

Typical PCP pumps hit 4,500 psi. Typical tire inflators hit 1% of that and shop compressors hit maybe 3% of that. A vanilla hand pump isn't going to cut the mustard.

There's a Chinese knockoff of the oft-recommended Hill hand pump that can be had for about $50 (that's not a recommendation of that particular one, but it does have 4.5 stars on Amazon after 54 reviews, so it's probably OK and you can always return it if it's shit). You might do better on Ebay, Banggood, Aliexpress, or something, but it can be hard to know if what's being sold is reasonably good or pure crap.

It'd be much more efficient to return the inverter and buy a 12v pump.

For example;

Did you read the article. There is a very clear indication that something drastic happened during the 2007 season and after. I'm not saying anything happened in a bathroom. Although with a device like this it would be easy to bleed a few balls in a minute and a half. You don't have to do all of them to make a difference.
