No thanks.
I have been seeing a lot of basstop shell replacement reviews going around but not alot of eXtremerate ones. It is my first time changing the joycon shells and after a week of research and reading i decided on the extremerate ones. In short, i would give a 8/10 for its good quality shell.
other than the 2 faults, i find the shell really well made and they fit really well and other tips you could use are:
a) make sure you have good lighting
b) if you have strong arms, tone it down. the screws are really small and just a teeny bit of strength is sufficient to hold them in place
c) take note of the ribbon orientation, dont put them in the wrong way, if not they wont work
d) double check every time you tighten to make sure u did not miss a step, otherwise, you will have to unscrew them again.
e) the battery holder isnt tight fitting, and the original is also held in place with a double sided tape. i used a double sided tape to make sure they stay in place, otherwise the battery might move around when u are using them
f) for the finishing touch, change the internal firmware on the joycons to show up as any color on the switch.

Get the Hori D-Pad left joy-con knock off. One of these. It doesn't have a battery and doesn't really draw any, so it'll work well for your handheld-only type deal. I got mine at the local GameStop like an idiot, though... for $15 it's worth it.
Edit: Pokemon or LoZ either are $20.

Ive purchased this kit twice now to do repair on two sets of joycons, and the latches (and analog sticks) have worked great in both cases.

Have you looked at Hori Fighting Stick Mini? Besides custom work, it seems like one of the smallest available models that don't force you to carry around a dedicated backpack or case, if you're including stuff like books and notebooks.

I’ve owned nearly all the 3rd party pro controllers on the market so far. This particular model has fat thumbsticks and less travel time due to such. I personally hate them so I use the Deluxe version of this as it has thinner sticks with a more travel time as I’m more precise that way, but hopefully this helps you!

I found the shell replacement and joystick replacement from Amazon. The shell is from eXtremeRate. The sticks is from a random distributor. The quality of the shell is fantastic. It has a slight rubberized texture. The sticks feels clickier and are stiffer than Nintendo's. No drift.
It's from the controller's QA section on it's Amazon listing.

So I just looked at their other products to see if there already was an Animal Crossing themed one.
There wasn't, but if 90% of your playing is in handheld mode, you might want to look this beast over...
(There is already a Pokemon-themed one.)
Agreed. I've been using this one from "sunwaytek" for a few months and love it; it looks like it's nearly the same as yours with different colors, branding, and that turbo button:
https://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Pro-Controller-Nintendo-Windows/dp/B07H7FQVHH
It's rock-solid, simple to setup, and does what it's supposed to. Really hard to argue with that for $30.

There is!
8bitdo makes a controller that replaces the analogs with D-pads.

Good catch with 2.4g vs. bluetooth, I always forget about that.
The biggest differences between each 8bitdo line are aesthetics and features such as rumble, analog sticks, motion controls, triggers and turbo:
Features
It all boils down to what features you want. The SN30 is a great replacement for a stock SNES/NES controller and is about $10 US cheaper than the other models. The Pro and Pro+ will also work great with the NES Classic, and will allow you to play PS1 games that require analog sticks.
Aesthetics
8bitdo has a number of color variants for each of their lines that have no effect on how the controllers operate. The SN30 GP line are a set of SN30 controllers stylized like the original Game Boy Pocket line. There's no functional difference between a SN30 and SN30 GP controller other than how it looks. The SN30 Pro line has two options: One that matches the original Game Boy and another that looks like a U.S. Super Nintendo controller.
And there's the newer NS30 Pro2, which has an NES option that should match well with the NES Classic.
---
For me, I like the SN30 Pro because it's a good compromise with the SNES controller form factor combined with modern features. The triggers aren't great for modern games, so I only really use my SN30 Pro for emulators and retro-style games.
I already own a set of Dualshock 4 controllers, so I didn't see a need to have grips on my 8bitdo controller. But if I were using an 8bitdo controller as my daily controller, I would strongly consider getting the SN30 Pro+ for the added grips.
8bitdo doesn't do a great job at describing the differences between each of their controller lines. Some sort of feature grid would be extremely helpful.
So, there is an affiliate tag in that URL. I cleaned the URL up if you want to resubmit it:
https://smile.amazon.com/8Bitdo-Bluetooth-Gamepad-Nintendo-Switch-Lite(Turquoise/dp/B07Y6N384Y/
Sorry for the delay!
Edit: For further clarification regarding your report: the affiliate tag has nothing to do with the company making a product on Amazon. The Amazon affiliate program is a way for users (usually influencers like YouTubers and bloggers and such) to receive a commission when they recommend an Amazon product that makes a sale. If you buy a product on Amazon and there is an affiliate tag in the URL, then whoever that tag belongs to will receive a small % of the sale.
If the themes one is a Nintendo brand controller, just the graphical design.
(Like this or this)
If it's not Nintendo branded, then any number of things, weight, construction, nfc, hd rumble, wired, d-pad anything might be different.
Unfortunately some of these also have the red corner trade dress on the box, but should always have a third party brand logo somewhere on the front and say something like "licensed from Nintendo" somewhere.
https://www.amazon.fr/Manette-Nintendo-Switch-Pro-Chronicles/dp/B075LSG51W
I meant this layout but with a different hue of red, and without the green cross obviously. I don't think anyone produces them, you would have to paint them yourself.
Just a black pro controller but with red accents on grips and the back.
I don't understand why anyone hasn't thought of it yet.
This one is wired but sadly it is the closest thing I could find that’s close to your description. https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Switch-Faceoff-Deluxe-Audio-Controller/dp/B07RX8WP69?th=1
A bit of description: This is the closest thing to a Scuf controller, 2 paddles on the back. Also has a very long wire for it to connect to the switch so it’s not short either.

There's one 3rd party controller that has a headset plugin on it, that I know of. It's about $25.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RX8WP69/
I have one, I havent played with it too much yet, but it feels pretty decent. It is wired though, and has no rumble. It definitely doesn't feel as good as a pro controller, but... it's also a third of the price.
And as other people said, bluetooth headsets that have a USB dongle also work perfectly fine.
This is the best one I've found after a long search. Bought it last week and I love it. D-pad is much better than thr pro controller.
Not really. I've seen a few on eBay that look very similar to the originals (so, not bigger) but are worse in that they don't actually connect to rails except physically, so they can't charge or control that way.

The only other real alternative are Nyko Dualies. They also don't connect by rail. It's hard to get an idea of their size since none of the product images show them next to a Switch or regular Joy-Cons. I remember reviews for this being pretty poor, but it looks like the average has gone up quite a bit since then.
Thanks! I saw this one down in the recommendations and I’m going to give it a try. I know it’s not pro quality but I bought this one for my 360 like 8 years ago and it still works great on my PC. I actually like the smaller size and the Hori stick and buttons have held up great through tons of abuse.
This is quite a bit better than the PowerA version
Yeah, it's fairly normal that the wheels are always sold separately rather than with the console (it was the same on the WiiU version).
I'm kinda glad though in a way, because it means we're free to choose the styles we like best. For example, I managed to find some really good ones that even show the lights on the front panel...
www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01NCZO2LK
I'll let you know what they're actually like when they arrive, as I only just ordered them. But they looked kinda better than the orignal ones anyway. (Not sure how you will tell which player is connected on the original ones, but these ones sort of solve this problem), and they look kinda cool aswell.
(sort of reminds me of Night-Rider for some reason). Anyone else remember that show? (or perhaps that's just me showing my age) -DOH!! Personally though I don't think you can ever get too old to love Mariokart though, so I'm not ashamed of admitting it!
Here's what I use: 8Bitdo N30 Pro2
Sounds awesome, for the switch?
Hori have released this one that’s quite compact, I’ve not tried I’d.

The Xenoblade Pro controller is your best bet
> online subscription service
Significantly less than the competition
> season passes prior to games releasing
Sure, but it's Zelda.
> expensive peripherals
What peripherals? That Mario Kart wheel thing?
> launching a system with promised features to come. I'm referring to sharing videos via the share button and the lack of multimedia features similar to Xbox and PS4 missing features at launch.
I guess we'll have to see, we really don't know much, but it could be ready at launch.
The only bonus as of right now is Piranha Plant as a playable character. All you need to do is pre-order or get the game and register it before Jan 31st to get it free. It should be released early next year.
There's the Fighter Pass, which is SMash's season pass for $25. It include 5 unannounced characters and stages (along with music for those stages). They are expected to all have been released by Feb 2020. Each individual pack would cost $6. If you get the pack, you will receive and exclusive Rex (Xenoblade Chronicles 2) outfit for mii fighters.
There are a few bundles, though you will probably have to pay above retail for them now. Thankfully, you can buy all the important things that come with those bundles separately at basically the same price.
Right now, there is a Smash themed Switch Bundle [link]](https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Switch-Super-Smash-Bros-Ultimate/dp/B07HCTJC91/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1541514204&sr=8-1&keywords=smash+switch+bundle) - A switch, a digital version of Smash Bros Ultimate, smash bros themed joycons and dock.
Smash Bros. Ultimate Special Edition Link - Physical copy of Smash Bros with Steelbook and a Smash themed Switch Pro Controller
Finally, Smash Bros. Ultimate Limited edition - Comes with physical game, a Gamecube Controller and the adapter.
I prefer the GCN controller myself, and generally they play with them at the pro level. The Gamecube adapter and controllers were released a few days ago, so you can get those now. Adapters are 20, controllers are 30 a piece. If you have old GCN controller around, they will work as well.
I would recommend getting a Switch Pro if you plan to get other Switch games, it is really a great controller. There's a smash themed Pro controller that you can still get link it's only $5 more than a regular pro controller. Aside from aesthetics, it works exactly the same as other pro controllers.
Switch works but in portable mode and connected to a TV. It also has a stand on the back so you can play it on what is referred to tabletop mode. Even in portable mode, you can use any controller. In the case of GCN controllers, the adapter connects to the dock so you can't do it natively. The Switch itself only has a USB-C. I assume that you can get an USB-C adapter to be able to connect the GCN Adapter but I haven't tried it myself.
Could I use my laptops screen it has a full size hdmi port? (Dell G7 15)
I don't know much about this, but HDMI ports in laptops are usually just HDMI out, so I would assume it won't work. If you can connect anything else there and display it on screen (another console, blu ray player, etc) I don't see why it wouldn't work.
Dec 7 is release date. You can pre-order the digital game and fighter pass directly from Nintendo right now.
I'm not into the competitive scene so I don't know anythign about tiers and rankings, but I do enjoy sword fighters. Marth is still fun and probably the easiest to learn, though he is not as good as he used to be in Melee. Lucina is his echo and the main differences are that she is a bit faster and her sword doesnt have more power in the tip.
Other than that, it depends on your fight style. Link and Toon Link are versatile, Ike is slow but powerful (think Bowser/Ganondorf), Roy plays fairly differently from Marth this time around and not as enjoyable imo.
My personal rankings from those in Smash 4 are - Ike, Marth, Toon Link, Lucina, Cloud, Link, Roy, Mii Fighter
Corrin and Shulk are technically sword fighters, but they stab rather than swing for smash attacks so they feel a bit different. Shulk is probably the hardest one to learn out of all these, because his neutral B basically boost different categories. Corrin has great range and a solid counter, but again, doesn't really feel like a sword fighter to me.
Only works when attached but

Nyko Dualies are a joycon alternative that have a turbo button, but I don’t believe they’re remappable and I don’t think that they dock on the switch console.
Link.
If you haven't gotten it yet I'd say you should look into others too. I've been playing gamecube and smash bros for like 18 years so I went for this one. Haven't gotten it yet but I'm excited to try it. Because it uses a dongle it treats it as a wired controller which means it's supposed to have no lag.

Two possible options:
PDP Switch FaceOff controller with paddle buttons and headset jack
DarkWalker Switch controller with motion/rumble and headset jack
I use the PDP and love it, but it does not have motion sensing or rumble. I rarely use the paddle buttons, but it's damn nice to have them there. If you prefer motion and rumble, I'd maybe try the DW (I can't personally speak to its quality since I've never used one). If you don't mind not having rumble and motion, I'd grab the PDP.
Has anyone ever used the Ipega PG-9163 Tomahawk Switch Gamepad. It looks a little more compact than the Hori split pad pro with full size joysticks. I imagine it is recognised as a wired controller and not joycons due to it connecting through USB-c. the only drawback i see is no usb-c passthrough.

You can get a console for $200 - take your pick of PS4, Xbox One S, or Switch Lite, all are either $200 straight up or $200 on sale (and Black Friday is coming up). Console and a newly released game is $260 before tax. Older games are usually a little cheaper, between $10 and $50 depending (Nintendo games never drop in price, Call of Duty games go down to $10 after a year because annualized releases means the community moves every year and the game is dead).
Also your MacBook can probably run emulators for a few older systems if you don't want to spend that much and are fine with playing games from the 90s or earlier. The SNES has literally like 4 dozen fucking amazing games on it (and then dozens more "pretty good" games) and there's a Mac OS version of Snes9x. Get that emulator (emulator is free and legal), then pirate the games on thepiratebay or something (not legal but who gives a fuck, most of them you can't even buy by any means other than second-hand), every SNES game ever released combined is about 1GB so you can easily store it. I suggest getting a controller as well, luckily those are pretty cheap. This wired third party Switch Pro controller is $20 and works fine, I have one. You don't need a controller to play emulated games though, you can play with a keyboard.
If you want to get really fancy, you can make an emulation machine with a Raspberry Pi and play basically anything before the 2000s all on one device and hook it up to a TV.
If you want game recommendations, either for new games or old, hit me up.
I might buy one of these just to play LA the proper way.
Is it really that cheap in the US?
Not being egotistical or anything, but the current cheapest I can find of it here in the UK is £119.99 on amazon :/ no luck on eBay and CEX has next to none in stock through any of their stores online :(
If so I wonder if the controller is as valuable as it is because it’s the current only pro controller with a fixed dpad or because it genuinely is super rare (and not artificially rarer due to scalpers flooding the market ala amiibo and nes Classic) die to low print numbers?
(I have the controller from back at launch btw, can confirm the dpad is superior to the OG and splatoon controllers.)
Not sure it's something you've considered (or have any interest in), but you can replace the control stick unit with a kit from Amazon. They're pretty inexpensive, come with all the parts you need, and the entire process doesn't take much more than, like, 20 minutes with an iFixit guide. I strongly recommend it if you want it done quick (though, of course, it will pooch your warranty, so there's that to consider as well)
Handheld mode only. If you're thinking of getting it just for the d pad get these instead.
Jeez here “Proof”
