My favorite heating pad is this one, because you can override the auto shut off:

Trying to understand her thought process here...

Microwave = warmth.

Socks on radiator = warmth.

Socks in microwave = warmth.

Microwave doesn't use flame.

Microwave cannot be a fire hazard.

Or thinking that since these go in the microwave, ALL fabrics can, which means she doesn't understand simple concepts like cotton is different than velvet which is different than linen...

With that inattention to detail, can your boss really afford to keep her dumb ass..? This isn't going to be the only time she could've killed y'all

Alright, this ended up being way longer than I thought. If anyone thinks this is hailcorporate material go fuck yourself. I didn't spend half an hour collecting drug prices to be accused of advertising (on that note if the links are breaking any rules mods pls let me know and I'll remove them).

NyQuil:
650mg paracetamol
30mg dextromethorphan hbr
12.5mg doxylamine succinate

X48 Amazon - $16.62/$0.35 per dose

Dayquil
325mg paracetamol
10mg dextromethorphan hbr
5mg phenylephrine hcl

X48 Amazon - $14.91/$0.31 per dose

Paracetamol: 500mg X600 (Amazon) - $11.91
Dextromethorphan hbr: 15mg X60 (Amazon) - $9.99
Doxylamine succinate: 25mg X192 (Amazon)* - $9.49

Phenylephrine hcl: 10mg X36 ("Blowout Medical") - $2.10
10mg X72 (Rite Aid) - $10.99/$7.69 if you're a "member"

So!

  • 650mg paracetamol is $0.02576 (and 325mg is $0.01288)
  • 30mg dextromethorphan hbr is $0.255**
  • 12.5mg doxylamine succinate is $0.02471
  • 5mg phenylephrine is $0.02917 with the questionable site, or $0.07632 with rite aid.

You can also find other mixes of the ingredients (eg paracetamol/phenylephrine was one I saw) which may be cheaper than buying the ingredients individually.

    * I wrote this post out of order and got tired of transcribing links on my phone. Sorry. I didn't have to search very hard to find any of these, so you probably can too.
** Dextromethorphan is mildly problematic as an ingredient because for some reason you can only get it by itself in Robitussin or similarly expensive medications - so no cheap generics. But if you're willing to take it with something else like guafinisen (an expectorant that causes serious nausea at high doses to prevent abuse of dextromethorphan, but typically no ill, effects when taking therapeutic doses) then you will end up paying much less for that as well. Example:
    400mg guaifenesin, 20mg dextromethorphan hbr X30 Dollar General - $4.50
And if you're willing to order it in bulk from a foreign chemical supplier, then therapeutic doses become laughably cheap. Alibaba, e.g., has 1kg available for $480 (Xi'an Salus Nutra Bio-Tech Inc.), which puts 30mg at $0.01440. For a less insane example, I also see 1g for $1 (Changzhou Confucius Biotechnology Co., LTD.), which puts 30mg at $0.03000.

So we can "homebrew" a dayquil dose for
    $0.01288 (325mg paracetamol) +
    $0.01 (10mg dextromethorphan hbr) +
    $0.02917 (5mg phenylephrine hcl)
    :::
    $0.05205.

    And a nyquil dose for
    $0.02576 (650mg paracetamol) +
    $0.03 (30mg dextromethorphan hbr) +
    $0.02471 (12.5mg doxylamine succinate)
    :::
    $0.08047

and excepting dextromethorphan we have only used generics/different brands of the medicines that are in NyQuil and DayQuil.

That's a big part of why I think those products are scams. Another slightly more subjective reason is that I think paracetamol and phenylephrine are both useless in most circumstances. I have found that pseudoephedrine is the most effective nasal decongestant by far (though definitely more expensive), and that phenylephrine has little or no effect on symptoms of relevant illnesses.

I would recommend Chloraseptic and menthol for coughs instead of dextromethorphan as well.

It still boggles my mind that people buy shit like NyQuil, Excedrin (literally just caffeine and paracetamol, and we already know how cheap paracetamol is), etc. when the active ingredients can often be bought off the very same shelves

I knew all the caveats of getting an epidural. By the time I was actually getting one, I just didn't have it in me to care. I was exhausted, starving and felt like I was dying from the pain. I signed the consent forms without hesitation. I was terrified that I would move and fuck up the needle in my spine during the procedure because of a contraction. I managed to freeze my body into position and only squeezed my husbands hand as I held still through one 4 minute long contraction. The procedure was done by the end of the contraction. Within 10 minutes, I started to feel relief.

The epidural worked perfectly. I feel excessively lucky to have had such an amazing experience with this drug. I know it isn't like that for many many women. To date - 6 days later - I have had zero side effects.

The contraction pain dissipated within 10 minutes of the test dose. I could still feel pressure and could predict when I was contracting but there was no pain. My left leg was more numb than the rest of my lower body but I could still fully control my extremities.

I was given a catheter (to empty my bladder) and was left to rest. I began my apologies at this point to my birth partners, midwife and nurses. They all jut laughed at me and were glad I was feeling so much better.

I overheard one nurse say to the other while examining my EFM printout, "when was she taken off the Pit?" (pitocin) My nurse, Andrea, laughed and said, "She was never given Pit." No one could believe or explain the frequency and duration of my contractions. They averaged 30 seconds apart and 3 minutes long from at least noon (as per the EFM charts in triage). There were many that were 4 and 5 minutes in duration.

Just like the last time I was admitted to the hospital just 3 weeks before, my body just did not seem to understand how to control the changes happening to my body. I went from practically 0 pain to 10 in less than an hour. My body is INTENSE!

I continued making exceptionally fast progress. And was fully dilated and fully effaced by 8:30pm. I was excited and hopeful this meant I'd have the baby before 10pm.

My body had a different plan. It was at this point that I developed a fever of 102 degrees Fahrenheit. Baby's heart rate spiked because of it. My membranes had ruptured naturally at 4pm (weirdest feeling ever) and I knew I was at risk of developing an infection. Because of this, my midwife (who changed from Sylvie to Jocelyn) checked me once at 6pm and once at 8:30pm. Regardless of the precaution, I still developed a uterine infection and needed to have my fever break before allowing for transition to take place since the baby wasn't being tolerant of pushing. The baby's heart rate would drop dramatically if/when I pushed during a contraction. This got the head of Obstetrics involved in my case.

After administering anti-biotics and having my fever break, Jocelyn (midwife) and the head of OB, Dr. Marie, spoke at length about the recommended course of action.

I was told that I could try pushing in different positions to see if the baby could tolerate it better. I got on my hands and knees. Her heart rate immediately got better from just being in this position. Everyone was impressed. This is my go-to position for coping with pain - always has been. I knew the baby was familiar and comfortable with this position. My husband explained to them that I sometimes sleep in this position. They couldn't believe it - the difference to the baby's heart rate was night and day.

I stayed on my hands and knees through a few contractions and would sit back on my heels every few minutes to try to get the baby to drop more.

It totally worked and I was soon at +3 station.

The OB asked if I could get on my back to see if baby was able to tolerate the pushing and contractions better now. I was super happy to find that she was fine now.

I was guided by Jocelyn (midwife), my husband, my mom, the OB, the resident and my nurse through 3 pushes. Since baby wasn't progressing as quickly as the OB had hoped (she was still nervous about the baby's heart rate potentially dropping to an even more severe degree), I was told I might need to have a vacuum assisted delivery. I understood why but was terrified about letting that happen.

I knew the step after that was an emergency c-section.

The OB said she'd give me 3 more good pushes to make real progress. I could tell she didn't think I had it in me.

This motivated me more. I knew I could do this.

I gave 3 of the strongest efforts I've ever given in my life. And when I heard the OB and my husband l exclaim that her head was nearly out, I could hardly believe it. I saw the reflection of my progress in a conveniently placed tv screen and couldn't believe the progress I had made. My vagina looked CRAZY! lol...

With another 4 pushes, I felt my body deflate and watched as a beautiful little lady, covered in meconium and other birth goop, was placed on my chest.

I will never forget that smell, that feeling of overwhelming relief and hearing her cry. She was pink, wiggly as could be and super alert. My husband cut my cord. My mother cried. My midwife and nurse cheered. The OB and resident spoke at length about the unbelievable speed of my delivery, how well I stretched to accommodate the baby, and the fact that I only needed 1 tiny stitch.

It was undoubtably the most surreal moment of my life.

Nina Maren was born at 11:46pm on Saturday, August 18 and weighed 7 lbs. 13 oz. and was 20 inches long.

My husband told me later that she had her right arm twisted behind her head (if you're relatively flexible, you can pull your elbow up behind your head to stretch the muscles under your arm on the side of your torso with your forearm and hand touching your spine). This was likely the reason why I had a hard time pushing her out the first time.

Because of my infection, she spent the next 2 days in the NICU. My heart broke in ways I still don't have the ability to verbalize. I can't adequately describe what it's like I know your baby can't be with you all the time. I can't describe the infinite sadness in my heart because I can't breast feed her on her schedule, I wasn't the first to bathe her, I couldn't practice much skin to skin because of her IVs and mine.

I cried til my tear ducts ran dry.

My cousin asked me today if I felt the "motherly bond" that's so often described to her. My response was that I felt like a drug addict who was desperate for my next hit of baby. I think calling these feelings a bond is not justice enough.

I physically ache when I'm not with her. It's insane and I never imagined I could feel this way. Never.

Nina stayed in the NICU until Tuesday when we received word that her cultures and bloodwork came back normal - no signs of the infection that caused my fever to spike. While my wedding day was awesome, I can't describe how overjoyed I was when we were told that we could bring her home. Everyone kept asking if I was nervous about having the baby home - I was never nervous. I was relieved.

So there you have it. Labor came and went as unpredictably as I ever thought it could. Nina is ridiculously sweet, loves breastfeeding and has already gained a pound past her birth weight. My little fatty :D

Thanks for listening! r/BabyBumps helped me get through this incredible journey in immeasurable ways. I'll totally be hanging around between here and r/BeyondtheBump.

My wife is a ballet dancer/instructor, going strong in her 40s. Her pain routine:

  • Keep ice packs in your freezer. Your local drugstore should have something like this. Wherever it hurts, and joints in particular, ice for 20 minutes, BUT NOT LONGER. After about 20 minutes, your body has some kind of reaction that kicks in and lessens/counteracts the effectiveness of the ice. (I don't really understand it, but it seems to work for her.) Do this a couple times a day.
  • Alternate ibuprofen and acetaminophen.
  • Epsom salt baths, as u/GypsyWitch05 said.
  • Stretch thoroughly before AND AFTER dance.
  • At night, lie on the floor with your butt against the wall and your legs sticking up the wall. You may want to put a belt loosely around your legs at the knees so you can fully relax your legs. Do this for 10-20 minutes, or longer if you want. She says it helps with inflammation.

WANTS:

  • Lululemon Boogie Shorts. They are tiny, but I finally have the confidence to wear them and I absolutely love them. So comfortable and allow for big range of motion. The roll down ones are my favorites. Drooling over the pretty blue pair and the herringbone pair.
  • Knee Sleeves. My sister is getting me a set.. really excited!
  • Fabletics Doon Sports Bras. I have one and it's always the first one I wear after I do laundry, which means it's my favorite :)
  • Outdoor Voices Hoodie. I won an Outdoor Voices tank top in a competition and the fabric is just like butter. I signed up for their mailing list, which gives you a 20% code, so I may end up getting this for myself eventually. They are $$ like Lululemon, but made in the USA.

    WHAT I WOULD GIVE:

  • Mesh Shoe Bag. So nice when you have a pair of lifters.
  • No Slip Hair Ties. My absolute favorite. My hair actually stays in a ponytail when I use these, even while doing stuff like jumping rope!
  • Mary Jane's Pain Relief Salve. Not exactly legal in all US states (yet), but this stuff works better than any salve I have ever used.
  • Arnica Gel. I put this on any bruising I get from the barbell after a workout and the bruises heal much faster!
  • Life Extension Fish Oil. My favorite fish oil ever.

One of the first and most important determinants to prevent kidney stones is living a healthy lifestyle with strong emphasis being on the right diet. You are going to want to avoid beer, soy, chocolates, legumes, wheat, nuts, salt and spinach.

Water is essential for you. To improve the health of your kidneys, get rid of inflammations, infections and stones, drink lots of water. Water will help to flush out stones and impurities form your urinary tract.

Take some Chanca Piedra from time to time. Chanca Piedra means stone breaker and it comes from a plant. With virtually no side effects this herb will help to prevent the formation of new stones and also help to get rid of existing stones by helping to relax the ureter.

Celery Seed extracts have also shown to be quite effective in this manner.

I always recommend Stone Breaker by Eu Natural. It contains the ingredients I mentioned and other vitamins and minerals which have proven to be very helpful in fighting stones and infections. You can get some https://www.amazon.com/STONE-BREAKER-Chanca-Piedra-Gallbladder/dp/B01FERIHYE .

Remember also that your system needs vitamins B6, E and magnesium. Stones are troubling yes but if not careful, they can cause further complications like UTIs and other disorders.

And finally I will advise you to exercise. By this I do not mean go start lifting weights. No, go on hikes, take part in some light exercises, yoga, swimming and others. Stay active.

Remember eat well and watch your diet.

Orange already covered most of what I would recommend.

I will say though 6 hours isn't all that much to a puppy, assuming he's ~3-4 months old you probably want to stop once or twice just to let him potty. that's not even a full night of sleep for context, something I'm sure you hope he can sleep through in the very near future. Puppies (and dogs in general) sleep a lot more than humans do, typically falling in the 12+hour/day range.

I'd expect the pup is getting to play with littermates and will be pretty tired before you pick him up, and will fall more-or-less right to sleep.

Have a crate, and try to make it as comfortable as possible, old towels or blankets at the bottom that can be removed in case of accidents, and nested in otherwise. Some way to provide water. Either Frozen Water bottles, or heated pads depending on the dog may help it settle and get comfortable as well, breeder might be able to make recommendations here.

Don't expect the pup to love you right away. It is a sammy so there's pretty good odds it will love you immediately, but at the end of the day you're a stranger stealing him from the family he knows. Just try to give him a safe space that is his - honestly sitting in that space and forcing yourself on him may make things worse instead of better.

Make sure the pups needs are met and you stop to give it potty breaks - especially if you notice it drinking a lot, but 6 hours should be fine w/o much issue.

I was going to ask if you've been checked for raynaud. It makes sense getting colder plus you need to try not to get horribly cold. I've heard Cuddle duds were good. Think thermal. I'm unsure about the sizes (they look small)but maybe thermal type would really help you. These look nice for plus sizes. For the bed a heating pad would also keep help if you get extremely cold. I'm sure you've got an electric blanket but when you just can't get warm. The new heating pads are amazing. I've got this one and it's amazing. While some feel the heat isn't as hot (you can't burn yourself) i feel it sinks in deeper due to the continual even heat. There's also ones that are big squares.

u/barking-chicken · 3 pointsr/AskTrollX

I have this one for my lumbar issues, and its also fantastic on cramps. It vibrates!

u/AikiGinger · 3 pointsr/TrollXChromosomes

Depends on what you want. Modern heating pads are only allowed to get so hot, unless you have to actively keep them on.

So if you are going for HOT, a "classic" thermophore is great. (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000ZHJS0G/?coliid=I33NO79SFPCZG8&colid=7F8Z4MNFKO4P&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it) These are loved in the chronic pain community. And again, it has a switch and it just keeps heating.

Personally, I enjoy a more heat and toss approach. So this is used with a blanket on the other side (so you make a sandwich you-heating pad- pillow/ blanket) but you don't have to monitor it. I have a few tips:

  1. I'm sure after all that research he already knows, but make sure he goes back for his follow ups. I had to do 2 after before I had the all clear.

  2. I think I found these based on a recommendation in this subreddit. Buy a pack of these bad boys. They are about sack size and it's nice to have multiple to rotate through as they thaw/refreeze.

  3. Congrats! It was the best decision I made on a road trip with my then GF and now wife. :)
u/lilbearcat19 · 3 pointsr/askwomenadvice

I’ve been seeing ads for new gel packs designed for breasts to keep them cool. But they’re super expensive. I would suggest a gel pack with some cloth backing that you can refrigerate/freeze to stay cool, and some baby powder to stop the rash if it happens. Lush also makes a powder to help with chafing (usually used for rubbing thighs) that might be helpful.

Hey! :)

I'm so happy that you have a job you love and hope that you are able to continue doing it!

I have a Quell device I received as a gift. I find that it's a useful tool but isn't a huge game changer. Admittedly I don't use it as much as I did when I first received it.

Pros:

  • You can wear it!

  • It does help to a small degree. I'm not sure if it's just a distraction or if their thesis on the nerve it hits is right. I did get some results.

  • It's easy to set up and change intensity on the fly.

    Cons

  • The sleeve it comes in wears down quickly. Mine stopped staying in place 6 months to a year and I am a relatively small dude. I need to replace it or maybe use a safety pin?

  • The replacement pads are somewhat expensive

  • more expensive than a traditional tens unit

Some tips and tricks. Make sure you put the pads back in the packaging and seal them as soon as you are done. You can make them go a lot longer this way. Also, you can use conductive gel to make them last even longer. I definitely recommend looking into it.

While it is nice that you can be mobile with the quell active, it can bump around quite easily which can lead to a lot of discomfort. It depends on how active you are moving around but I tried to use it mostly when I was at my computer. I would prep food and whatnot in it, but I would say going for a walk with the device is not ideal.

Anyways best of luck and I hope it helps! :)

I take this supplement http://www.amazon.com/Migraine-Relief-Migravent-Supplement-Migravent-Proprietary/dp/B001HBT7PK every day, it was recommended by my neurologist. It definitely helps with the intensity of my migraines and has lifted the daily "fog" that I used to get (kind of felt like a migraine was around the corner all the time)

If you have a desk job I very highly recommend that you have an occupational therapist come in and set up your desk to minimize tension in your back and neck (do it at home, too if you spend a lot of time at the computer there). Use screen filters, and get a good pair of migraine specs (I have Theraspecs and love them).

A lot of people are hesitant to see a therapist about this kind of thing, but it was extremely helpful for me. Developing coping methods is incredibly beneficial. Same with biofeedback - learning to relax and focus when a migraine is happening, and focusing on tension release when they aren't happening is also very helpful. This sounds completely silly, but it works SO well for me - I imagine little sheep jumping over my toes in tune with my heartbeat, I jump them over my entire body in my mind from my toes, all the way to my head, and I slow the tempo of my "sheep" down as I go. It really helps to reduce heart rate and anxiety, and takes the focus off of the pain and discomfort. Intensely focusing on heart rate and trying to bring it down.

Another non-medicinal thing I did a few years back was to get a sleep study. It wasn't just about finding something wrong with the sleeping pattern - it's about improving your schedule and dialing in your sleep hygiene. Sleep is hugely important for many reasons, including migraines. Especially for migraines.

Hope you have some luck!

Fat burners are one of the last things you should concern yourself with, and used without understanding and irresponsibly can cause long term negative side effects.

With that said, my fat burning stack I use when cutting is:

Week 1 (twice a day)

10 mg synephrine

200 mg caffeine

81 milligrams aspirin

Week 2 (twice a day)

10 mg synephrine

200 mg caffeine

81 milligrams aspirin

2.5 mg yohimbine

Week 3+ (twice a day)

10 mg synephrine

200 mg caffeine

81 milligrams aspirin

5 mg yohimbine

Do not run this for more than 8 weeks straight. Wait at least 16 weeks in-between cycles. The effects are minor and will only be noticeable if you're already cutting and under 15% body fat.

I had the same brace after my ACL/meniscus tear, but I would take some of the straps off so I could slide this kind of pad in. It did wonders for the pain. I did it over the wrapping.

Once I got more healed up and didn't need the icing machine, these were the best ice packs I found. They stay soft, only take 2 hours before you can use them again, and they're the only ones that didn't break on me. I recommend getting two.

I recommend the Flexikold. You can order them on Amazon, and come from like letter size to literally the size of your back. They are very tough and not likely to leak. You can also get a reusable gel ice pack at pretty much any store with a first aid/recovery section. I got a decent one at Fred Meyer for about 10 bucks. They are awesome and re-"freeze" in like 30-45 minutes.

As an Eskimo living in Anchorage, with an apartment that has terrible cross-breeze, I need these to survive! In a pinch you can use a 2 liter bottle (make sure you don't fill it too full), but the gel packs are the way to go.

I have this one, though it's not the pretty plaid, and it was fairly cheap https://www.amazon.com/Sunbeam-Flexi-Soft-Massaging-Settings-Auto-Off/dp/B016WK51DW/ref=mp_s_a_1_17?keywords=sunbeam+heating+pad&qid=1570413693&sprefix=sunbeam+&sr=8-17. It has a massage feature that I like. It is fairly small, and not flexible at all. I use it mostly for my tailbone, so I sit directly on it.

I also have this one, which was great for the shoulder pain after my excision surgery. https://www.amazon.com/Sunbeam-Contouring-Shoulder-Settings-Auto-Off/dp/B0753PSVY7/ref=mp_s_a_1_7?keywords=sunbeam%2Bheating%2Bpad&qid=1570413859&sprefix=sunbeam%2B&sr=8-7&th=1&psc=1.

After surgery I had one going on my shoulder and one on my tail bone and it was great. I'll even be using the shoulder one during the upcoming cold winter months.

I'm so sorry you're in pain! The only OTC advice I can offer is these cool gel sheets, which I buy in bulk for migraines. You can find them at most Walgreens, too. They don't make the pain go away, but they can help make it more bearable while you wait for the Excedrin PM to take the edge off and help you sleep.

When you are able to see a doctor, I would ask for abortive medicines to try, like triptans, and ask about starting the two-month free trial for the new preventative drug Aimovig. It's the best and fastest working preventative I've tried in the past decade (you give yourself a shot in the thigh every month).

I wish there were more I could offer, but ultimately the best help you can get is in the form of prescriptions.

u/fangirlsqueee · 2 pointsr/Fibromyalgia

Funny you ask about MRI and EDS. Sadly, I tried to do an MRI last month, but had a horrifying (and embarrassing) panic attack about 4 minutes in and have not rescheduled. So I can't help at all with sharing a diagnosis from MRI. At least they didn't charge my insurance. My orthopedic doctor took x-rays a few years ago and saw very slight calcification. I get steroid shots a few times a year and it helps, so inflammation is a factor.

Two family members have been diagnosed with EDS. I have not pursued that that avenue of possibility, so again can't share my own diagnosis.

I do ice pack and heating pad about every other night for about an hour. 15-20 cold, then 15-20 heat x 2. It helps me a ton. I've also started at home physical therapy that orthopedic doctor gave me. I use this ice pack cover and use this ice pack in it. I've also become mindful to not sleep on my side. I try to stay on my back when I'm aware/able.

Sorry I have no solid answers. This symptom comes and goes for me, just like everything else with fibro. Hope you find some relief.

I have facial pain but use the Accurelief unit. Was about 50 at Walgreens or Rite Aid I forget which. Replacement pad set is 15 I think. I like it because it has two separate channels, each of which can use different power settings/patterns. The cables to the pads are nice and long. Goes up to 25 but I use 3 for my face. Having lower intensity settings may be good in sensitive places like the foot. Found battery life to be pretty good. It uses 3 AAA batteries. Good luck! I am not a doctor, just a patient.

Stay hydrated. Figure out why you are straining and start making changes to your diet as soon as possible. Not enough fiber? Get some psyllium husk tablets. Hard stool? Colace(stool softener) I recommend both. It is extremely important to stay hydrated. Dehydration while on any of those will make bowel movements worse. Try to take a shower after every bowel movement, but avoid soap. You do not want to make the same mistake as me and let your skin dry out. If you do use soap I recommend vaseline or a&d ointment after a wash. Cold water may feel relaxing and numb the pain, but remember to do warm water sitz baths as well. The key to healing is increasing blood flow. The blood flow is low in the rectum so healing can take quite some time. Despite how much blood you might see after a bowel movement. Applying heat will increase blood flow. Unfortunately for you the pain from the fissure comes from your sphincter spasming and it will be hard to stop that without prescription medication. You might have some success with lidocaine, but that can be costly(see Dr. Butlers cream). Over the counter pain medicine will help as well. Avoid opioids(can cause constipation). True pain relief comes with the nitroglycerin ointment. Which also increases blood flow to the area and relaxes the muscle. Yes get the baby wipes, but I would avoid the neosporin and get the dr. butlers cream while you wait for an appointment to get the nitroglycerin. I highly recommend getting the nitro. Also look into lifting your legs while on the toilet into a squatting position. Don't wait on getting treatment for this. Although not life threatening if you wait and it gets worse you will regret it, trust me. Make an appointment to see a doctor/specialist if you can afford it. Maybe look into fasting for a day or two, or even intermittent fasting. Give your fissure some time to start healing before irritating it again with another bowel movement. You can't stop pooping, but you can limit how much you do it. If you do fast do some research on keeping your electrolytes in check. Like I said you do not want to become dehydrated. Good luck and stay hydrated!

Sometimes you have to take kids out of the class because its either take the kid out of the class or evacuate the class. As long as you move them safely (hopefully you've been trained to do it safely) its fine. I will usually move a kid out of class unless its over the top violent and then I evacuate the class but that is rare.

You just need to let them go. Don't engage them a lot. Keep them safe. Keep yourself safe. They don't really know what they are doing at that point. Keep a neutral body posture. If you can sit on a desk or table (not a chair) or lean up against a wall. It is a more relaxed posture. If you sit in a chair you can't get up quick enough if they start coming at you. Don't cross your arms. Don't have tense body language. Find your inner zen. There is a certain point where your anxiety becomes their anxiety. Just talk to them occasionally and tell them that everything is fine. Its okay to be upset but not to hit. Don't talk a lot though. Use short sentences with few words. Don't overwhelm them with too many words. They need to go through it. If you don't let them go through it, it will just be put on hold until later.

When they're calmer I'll have a talk with them. Some of the kids think they are in trouble or what they did was bad. I'll tell them that it is okay to be upset in life and they aren't in trouble. But they need to ask for a break if they need a break. Typically what I do is wait until they can follow an instruction before bringing them back to class because then I know they are ready. If its a major meltdown with a kid I usually have a bottle of water that I'll put on a chair and ask them to go get it. Or if we're outside I'll ask them to come sit next to me or stand next to me. If they don't I know they need more time. Its on their time frame, not mine.

Yeah it sucks to get hit. It sucks to get kicked. If you block with your forearm it helps. If you put your side towards them it helps. If they try to hit you in the face always turn your head so they hit the side of your head, I've had my nose broken that way. Arnica helps with bruises. If its been a really rough deal with a kid take a couple minute break to compose yourself.

Dealing with these meltdowns can be hard on a teacher and an aide. Its why teachers and aides in this population have such a high turn over. Stick it out. These kids are awesome. They just need teachers who understand and can deal with situations like these.

Edited to say, always make sure someone is with you when you are dealing with a kid having a meltdown. You need a witness. Always write a report afterwards. Inform your admin of what happened and call the parents. Have whoever was there write a report as well.

u/executivesphere · 2 pointsr/migraine

If you don't already, I'd definitely recommend that you get a prescription for sumatriptan. For me, it's been a lifesaver. It's an abortive medication, so it won't prevent the migraine from happening, but it is very effective for making a migraine go away once it has started.

Other than that, there's not much to say. Everyone's migraine triggers are different. Could be any number of things, but a few worth investigating:

  • Vitamin deficency. Some people seem to have pretty good success treating this with a supplement like Migravent

  • If you wake up with a headache every morning, it could have something to do with your sleep (clenching you jaw, perhaps)

  • Blue light exposure late at night, possibly.

  • Anything else. Sorry, there are so many triggers. You could try keeping a journal to see if you can detect any patterns

I use magnesium oil spray, No Salt and himalayan pink salt. I fill a quarter tsp with either salt and toss it back like a shot or like you see people do with preworkout and then I chug water until the taste is gone. I find this way easier than drinking salty water throughout the day. I don’t recommend taking all the potassium at once, it can be bad for you. I spread it out over the course of the day but usually total about 1200mg potassium (two 1/4 tsps) and 3000-5000mg sodium (6+ 1/4 tsps himalayan). The magnesium oil I do 6 sprays on each foot before bed and then put on socks so it doesn’t get on my bedding.

u/yoyo_hick · 2 pointsr/Uveitis

Had intermediate and posterior Uveitis for a number of years, no cause found. Likely they don't see any involvement with your retina (posterior) or iris (anterior) so think the chance of damage is low, hence the "wait and see" response. Hopefully that's a good thing, just make sure you keep it monitored closely though. If it doesn't get better you need to do something.

I have it in both eyes, but much worse in my left, good ole Ocular Sinister. Luckily I've been quiet for the longest time since it started currently. But even when I was mildly flaring I would have occasional pain in my left eye. Got the same answer, "posterior/intermediate Uveitis isn't painful..." I think that is the standard answer, but have heard several others that have had pain. So I think it's possible.

I have found a small cold compress on the eye can help with my pain. Something like.

https://www.amazon.com/Round-Reusable-Packs-Cloth-Backing/dp/B00XM1JI48/ref=sr_1_3_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1549415952&sr=8-3&keywords=round+cold+gel+pack

Never really had discharge or dry eye so can't help there.

Does remind of one of my more interesting visits to the eye hospital. Had a bad day and my eye was hurting bad. Got fed up and called my doctor and basically said, "I know you said that pain isn't part of this disease, but my eye is fucking killing me and I'm having a hard time getting anything done". They told me to come right in and explained that the one thing that can cause pain is Posterior Scleritis. Got there and was told that they need to do an ultrasound of my eye to see if I have this. Ultrasound lady starts the procedure to see if I have a boy or girl inside my bad eye. After a couple of minutes she steps out and grabs a doctor to look at it. Couple minutes later that doctor grabs another doctor. They all sit and stare at what this machine is showing and talking in hushed tones. Goes on for some time. I'm thinking this can't be good, what now. They won't tell me anything. Go back and see my main Doc. She says they found almost everything wrong with your eye we already knew about, but not the one thing that is supposed to cause pain. Sorry we don't know...

Luckily once they found the right drug to clear it up, the pain is almost non-existent.

There is a high chance you have either a stone or a UTI caused by a stone which you might have passed out. It is good that you exercise, keep it up. But also:

  1. Increase your water intake

  2. Boost your diet on magnesium rich foods such as nuts, leafy greens, beans, avocados

  3. You need more vitamins C, B6 and E

  4. I will advice you to look into some natural herbal extracts. These will help to break the stone into smaller pieces, expand your ureters and help you to easily flash out any stone and impurity that may be in your urinary tract. The reason I recommend herbal extracts is that in my opinion and in the opinions of several healthcare practitioners, these are safe without any potentially harmful side effects and very effective. You need Chanca Piedra, Celery Seed extract and Hydrangea.Ideally you can find these in Stone Breaker by Eu Natural (https://www.amazon.com/STONE-BREAKER-Chanca-Piedra-Gallbladder/dp/B01FERIHYE )

  5. Try drinking Lemon Juice.

In my opinion, this is the safest and easiest way to boost your health and get rid of any stones or UTIs. Feel free to check out other products as well but keep in mind the vitamins, minerals and herbs I mentioned. Do some research into them if you want.

I went to Home Depot and got this which I can use for both a fermentation swamp cooler and for bottle conditioning (can close it up and throw it in the closet easily).

I'm just being super nervous and worried as a first-timer. I'm sure once I finish the first brew, I'll have learned a lot about the process and how my apartment can handle it.

Yes....the Sunbeam heating pads are great! Came here to say that. I have a king sized one, not for the neck, just a rectangle pad but I use it on my neck often by putting on my pillow when I am in bed. This heating pad actually has levels that feel hot, unlike other brands, and while it has an auto shutoff feature it also has a feature where you can make it run continuously which I love. I had tried many other brands before this and they were terrible....would shut off all the time after what seemed like a short while and they never felt warm, let alone hot. Now that I mention it I should buy another one because my spouse sometimes steals mine when she has pain from cramps and other would be good to get her one of her own and would be nice to have a backup anyway.

Over the counter minor painkillers aren't bad.

I believe paracetamol is the same drug that we call acetomenaphin in the US, which is pretty inexpensive. Amazon has a bottle of 500 for under $.02 per tablet.

However, that same pill administered in a hospital will cost more. Unfortunately, it's been a while since I've been given any drugs in a hospital (and it's usually ibuprofen), so I can't cite cost, but I remember it being surprisingly more.
