Really the only thing I would state in general is improving the quality of the pictures. It's difficult to judge mini's when the picture of them is too far away, or blurry due to lighting. I highly recommend looking at the sidebar's photo tutorial to improve reception of your miniatures. Myself, I am getting a small lightbox to aid in photography. Not to mention it makes your mini's look better if you have a professional (or at the very least) clean looking background.

Most of them are Light Boxes for Photography. Here's an example

u/Dustylyon · 5 pointsr/turning

Something like this is what you need. This set includes lights and makes it easy to take professional photos for your postings.

u/madamerimbaud · 4 pointsr/Etsy

My phone has a really awesome camera (Carl Zeiss on the Nokia Lumia 950). I bought a light box and did a little test shot. It's a smaller box than I imagined (I don't have large items anyway), but it works really well. $16 on Amazon.

u/sheepery · 4 pointsr/Flipping

We got this one last year and have been pleased with it. The lights burn really hot so we changed them to LED. I believe the tripod would fit any phone. I would buy this again.

Ah, gotcha. Just a single camera on a tripod with a turntable. I have one of the cheap amazon product photography diffuse box things to make lighting and masking way easier. The whole setup is pretty cheap. Outside of the camera, a d7000 and 50mm prime that I've had for years for normal photography, there's maybe 150 bucks in other stuff. It's pretty much: take part to scan, throw some baby powder at it, slap it on the turntable, rotate rotate rotate, adjust camera position, repeat as necessary.

u/ReactorW · 3 pointsr/Etsy

I've used this to take pictures, it includes LEDs and a couple different backgrounds:

Looks like it isn't for sale anymore, but I'm sure you could find a similar product.

u/tornado_bear · 3 pointsr/M43

I agree with /u/d1rtdevil that a new lens won't improve image quality if your lighting is poor. I've used the 12-60 f/3.5-5.6 to take product photos and thought IQ was great. I would recommend looking into a light tent and tripod.

u/PGT_FTW · 3 pointsr/guns

This one from Amazon. Its the second one I've bought and has built-in LED lighting, which makes it a better setup than the pop-up one I already had (which required my overhead 4k lumen Cree shoplight).

Its cheap and packs into a carrying case but is definitely budget for a reason (binder clips to hold the backgrounds, metal tubes and plastic corner joints to assemble it, etc).

u/TheBigWil · 3 pointsr/Gunpla

So I picked up a Neewer lightbox with some random LED lights for prime day. For my camera, I'm using an Olympus OMD EM-10 with a 25mm lens. So far I'm liking the results :) Tomorrow I'll practice some more with other kits

I use this one. I love it!

u/WhiffleX · 3 pointsr/Multicopter

I know, it took me quite a while to remove the shadows even to this point. I just ordered one of these, so next time it'll hopefully be a lot easier!

u/likesthings · 2 pointsr/Repsneakers

Thanks! Its actually extremely simple. I use a lightbox from amazon that has a built-in LED strip (https://www.amazon.com/Fredhome-Portable-Lightbox-Photography-Backgrond/dp/B01M0HCVKM/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1493021664&sr=8-8&keywords=light+box+led) and I take the pics in RAW format on my iPhone. I later edit them on Lightroom.

  • Soft box - Nice even light distribution, more commonly used to product photography.
  • Any strobe will do, even remotely triggered speedlites
  • Polarized Filter for your lens - Wet surfaces reflect light back to the camera, causing highlight spots. Using polarized filters, you can limit this side effect.
  • Macro Lens - Only if you need to really get up close to the food. Very close focus

u/shadowstrikesagain · 2 pointsr/ecommerce

your photos aren't the greatest. i'd advise staying away from patio furniture. you might want to invest in a light box. it seems like you only have 3 or 4 hats, for sale, you might want to keep it simple with a one page layout, without "related products". the full front page slideshow also seems a bit excessive, i'd go with a simple banner half banner without a slideshow, or just scrap it altogether and list your products instead. the full page and the black text at the top kinda bleed together. also, the word "baseball" on the back of the "LA" hat is misspelled.

u/CharlieChop · 2 pointsr/reviewmyshopify

You can also get a popup lightbox like this one on Amazon to at least better light the shoes.

Also, what is with the Accessories section? None of those items have anything to do with shoes.

u/buresrollerskates · 2 pointsr/photography

I purchased this cheap light box from amazon to photograph metal pieces that I powder coat and paint. I use my iPhone 6S to take the pictures. About 75% of what I want to shoot has a gloss finish to it and the built in LED strips on the box give off a terrible glare. I can sometimes get around it by changing my shooting angle but it's not ideal. How can I fix this? A diffuser sheet I can hang in front of the LEDs? Would it be more ideal to build my own light source? Thanks!

u/Tentacle_Shogun · 2 pointsr/Warhammer40k
u/Pseudo_Prodigal_Son · 2 pointsr/Entrepreneur

This is the box I'm using. It's cheap and works well. I use the led lights in it and a soft-box flash to fill any too dark shadows.

Another tip is to lower the f-stop on your camera down to the smallest depth of field that will hold your product. You want everything that is not product to be way out of focus. Fancy lenses have flatter tighter depth of field that produce nice bokeh of everything that's out of focus. Those shots where the crystal is being held by a clamp would look more classy if the clamp disappeared into bokeh instead of just out of frame.

Am on Mobile and couldn't figure out how to copy the link from my Amazon app, but that's the one!

This is pretty cheap and looking at the reviews, it doesnt seems like a bad place to start.

Kitchen fluorescent. I stand back and zoom in so I don't cast (too much of) a shadow. :P

Like I said, it's far from perfect. I actually have a room with a drop sheet that I can use for taking pics of large items, along with a dslr, flash, reflector, etc, but that room is packed to the gills right now because I sourced too much stuff. I also have a 24" cube light tent with some lights (this, but replace the lights with LEDs because the bulbs it come with get HOT). It takes up my whole kitchen table and just seems overkill for things like DVDs.

This set up doesn't require any lighting beyond flipping a light switch, and the backdrop and foundation fold up, sitting out of the way next to the washing machine. I can use my iPhone but I have been using a Samsung WB350F lately. Thats what I used for these pics. iPhoto for some quick color temp and exposure tweaks. Once I get a handle on all the stuff in my house I'll have my office set up for this kind of thing, where I can have something nicer set up. This will do for now!

Orangemonkie Foldio2 15-Inch Folding Portable Lightbox Studio for Smartphone or DSLR https://www.amazon.com/dp/B013SVNWF2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_RnFBybB916HJX

u/incognitogriffin · 2 pointsr/Etsy

I have this one.
https://www.amazon.com/Orangemonkie-Foldio2-Portable-Lightbox-Smartphone/dp/B013SVNWF2

It works great, comes with different backgrounds, 2 rows of lights that are dimmable and it folds flat. Bu I rarely use it anymore. I bought it when I sold jewelry but now I have moved into mostly clothing and accessories so it just gathers dust.

Get a product photography setup, like this light box. Then get a mini rotating table like this.

u/repens · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

I'm usually all for self made, but when you can get an all in one kit for $50 on Amazon you have to consider if your time is worth it.

http://www.amazon.com/LimoStudio-Photography-Continous-Lighting-AGG1069/dp/B00DOGIED2/

u/brad3378 · 1 pointr/photogrammetry

I was mistaken about the Sony. It's capable of creating 240 Megapixel images from a 4x4 array of image captures via pixel shifting!
https://www.dpreview.com/reviews/sony-a7r-iv-initial-review-what-s-new-and-how-it-compares

I have no idea if it's a feature worth exploring for photogrammetry. I'm guessing that the extra pixels would be offset by extra noise and computation time. I hope I'm wrong and it turns out to be the holy grail of cameras for photogrammetry.

I'm on the same page with you about the turntable. I don't remember who mentioned it here recently but they found a $99 motorized turntable with an 88 lb. capacity and a remote control on Amazon. By the time I got around to buying it, the price had already dropped to $62! I doubt I could make one for that price.

The price is now back up to $90, but that's still a great deal in my opinion. I can't wait to try it out.

u/Mr_Algorithm · 1 pointr/Flipping

I just purchased this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DOGIED2?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00

It is being delivered today. I will let you know if it is any good. I know I will need to replace the lights, but I thought it would be a good place to start.

If I didn't need a bigger box I would have bought the Foldio2. Lights are built in (which I really like) but 15" just wasn't big enough for me. (That's what she said hehe)

u/L1zardcat · 1 pointr/Flipping

Unless you've got an ancient potato-phone, the camera on your cell is likely more than enough for eBay pictures.

If you want to spend money, consider spending on a lighting kit and backdrop. Lighting will improve your shots far more than a better camera.

If you're selling smaller items, a tabletop light box kit will work just as well, and won't take up as much space.

u/waaaghflesh · 1 pointr/yoyhammer

I bought a light box on Amazon which came with lights. I could have made my own but it was easier to buy my own.

I was thinking about trying it myself. This one should be big enough for a CR-10 and even has its own led lighting system:

If youre looking at doing the woodgrain in box take a trip to lowes, rona, or home depot, anywhere that sells wood flooring or fake woodgrain, and see if they have a damaged section. A lot of times a cut of a corner or an incomplete set will be very cheap and tottally useable for something like this. Just pop it in the light box or light the heck out of your tiny square with white light. A ring light works great for this.

I know its tempting to use natural light but just make sure if you do, that youre white balancing your image to reflect accurate colours. Theres also a BUNCH on cheap light boxes for beginners ~$16 https://www.amazon.com/Photo-box-Lightbox-Portable-photography/dp/B07DF5V5CL?ref_=fsclp_pl_dp_10
~$55
https://www.amazon.com/FOSITAN-Continuous-Lighting-Backdrops-Photography/dp/B078M95RXH?ref_=fsclp_pl_dp_9

And your good quality ones are typically $90-130.

I'm on mobile so I hope this is formatted alright.

Thats the one I bought.

u/darcybono · 1 pointr/Warhammer

I use this one here with just a sheet of white poster board for the backdrop:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00N9U3VOK/ref=ppx_yo_mob_b_inactive_ship_o0_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1

And I'm glad you asked because I forgot to mention that I use a selfie lamp with white backgrounds. It's a ring shaped light, that brightens the background but doesn't cause sharp shadows on the models. Here's the one I use:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B078KV9BZC/ref=ppx_yo_mob_b_track_package_o0_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1

EDIT: Also I just saw your other comment, hope you feel better soon! :)

Thank you so much! I try really hard for good pics! I just use my Samsung Galaxy S8 with this light box!

Hi Guys,

I want to built a small product photography space at my appartment and need some advice regarding the gear.

The image that I want to achieve should be pretty basic with maybe a little bit of styling later (from the front as well as from the top). Here are some examples: https://imgur.com/a/ykVy9Rz.

My problem is that I don't have a lot of space so the equipment has to be portable in some form and not a lot of experince in the field so I am not sure what to look for. I am rn thinking about a studiobox (like this).

Maybe you guys can recomment a specific product/setup. My budget is around 200-300€ but I am willing to pay more if it is worth it.

u/vaska1992 · 1 pointr/EtsySellers

Not the Amazon basics. One made by Havox. The backdrops are made from thick laminated paper/cardboard. They bend and can be rolled up. It's matte and almost no reflections. But sometimes you can see the color of the item cast in the shadow. (Which is not really a reflection).
I chose this one because they include 4 light strips, have good CRI (for realistic colors), and it is pretty sturdy, yet very lightweight.

I found a Studio Lightbox Tent, it looks good. What do you think of it?

u/818guy · 1 pointr/Flipping

Regarding lighting, Has anyone used one of those portable lightboxes that use LED lights?..I'd like to take photos at my storage unit and it looked like these could plug into a USB powerbank..
https://www.amazon.com/BrightBox-Portable-Photo-Studio-Light/dp/B01N75CIVP/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8

u/IronPatriot049 · 1 pointr/Etsy

They look good, but yeah, they seem a little dark.

Are you only using a single light source? It seems that way. Try getting a desk top lamp or 2 to surround it in more light. Use natural white light bulbs or LED lamps as well.

I bought one of these ages ago and still use it to this day. Love it.

https://www.amazon.com/Emart-Photography-Studio-Lighting-Shooting/dp/B01MZWSBOP/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1518196751&sr=8-9&keywords=small+home+photo+studio

They also make cheaper ones designed to be used with a smart phone if that's how you are taking your pictures.
