This one is good if you are using Philips Hue, 2 color bulbs. The mini speaker is bonus.
These Guys
Get two of them and you can hook them together, or swap them out when needed. I'm not sure what your power situation will be in Mozambique but a solar charger with a USB connection would be good. (They charge via USB). They last a pretty long time, I was happy with mine, just don't play them too loud for too long or you may blow them out. But, good little speakers.
I feel like I got them for cheaper than they are listed, check around.
Need some tips on purchasing some powered speakers and a preamp.
These are the two speakers I'm looking at:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GP56OYA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_BLhPzb88KAQFE
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HG16XFM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_MNhPzbZBEEGA6
Also would love any other suggestions besides these two that are at or below the price point.
Below are the two preamps I'm also looking at:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007DB5I60/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_DOhPzbKPT5V8V
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B018WK56JE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_7OhPzbPFNQERD
Same as the speakers willing to take suggestions for a possibly better preamp at or around the same price point.
Have you looked at pedestal systems like from Zvox energy or BA? They might do the trick if you're limited on space.
I would also look at something like this BA XS if you wanted a smaller 2.1 setup. I don't know that they come smaller than that.
If you do want to go soundbar there are a bunch out there to choose from. It seems like the ones you linked are toward the middle of the road ones that really should be good. I personally don't see paying too much more than $200 for a soundbar but that's just me.
I think the best way to decide if a purchase is worth it is to compare it to your other options. Can you think of anything else you could buy (or a combination of things you could buy) for $130 that would make your life better than the Jambox?
For example, you could go out to dinner about 7 times, or you could buy a Jambox. Which would make you happier?
Another way to look at it - If you bought a cheaper stereo (like this Logitech speaker for $50, and spent the other $80 on something else (or just saved it), would you be happier?
For what it's worth, I think a cheaper stereo would probably serve your purposes just as well (that Logitech one I linked to is actually really nice for the price), and the extra money could be spent on something that will make you happier.
Check out the Anker 3143. A LOT cheaper than the Bose, and pretty close in sound quality:

Here's a review of the speaker:

I bought this one when the dot came out, albeit was 25$ then, but I think the price has risen a bit, because of the dot.
Overall though the sound quality is excellent, and it has a built in battery.

I bought one of these:
https://www.amazon.com/WITTI-BEDDI-Smart-Speaker-Integration/dp/B01GUYZ126
Works fairly well, although any music playing is piped through the phone via Bluetooth into the alarm clock itself. It doesn't directly get on WiFi. I believe the alarm will still go off in Beep mode if your phone isn't paired, so it does have a fallback.
Also has 3x smart buttons that can hit IFTTT, Hue, or trigger the internal light. It's kinda slick, although a little spendy.
i had a really good experience with the YooMee speaker:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007UT60VC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
i lived in a tiny camper for a while, and had only this and my phone as a sound system, and i thought it was pretty awesome. it also put up well being tossed around, transported/clanging around by bicycle. honestly, i (and everyone else) was shocked at the sound coming from this little thing. =)
You want a Monster Rockin' Roller 3. Got one for my mom for these specific purposes and it works great. The sound is amazing.
if it's not in the shop anymore then you won't find it anywhere.
just get one of these and buy something else from the shop.
I'm looking for a good, relatively cheap (around $120) 1080p monitor to replace my 8-year old display that is unfortunately incompatible with Windows 10. Some criteria:
Any suggestions? Thanks guys
Been looking for something like this! Price and link?
Found it: http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Boombox-Smartphones-Tablets-Laptops/dp/B005PUZOYM/ref=sr_1_19?ie=UTF8&qid=1341285401&sr=8-19&keywords=Blue+tooth+speakers
Altec Lansing inMotion MIX iMT800 Portable Digital Boom Boximage
So they can listen to KennyG in rich quality audio while they consummate their new bond!
I actually asked for this for christmas. It can charge both my G2 and my watch. I have been really happy with it and you can find it cheaper than $20. Unless you want the watch to sit on its side and not lay flat.
There's always something on Amazon that slightly reminds of the PS gamepad layout. Too bad those are always coming from unknown brands I've honestly never heard of.
A couple of examples from a quick search:

"Easy Setup and Operation
The TVee One connects directly to your TV with a single cable. Optical, coax, and analog inputs with automatic selection allow you to easily connect any TV. The TVee One can also learn your television's remote control commands, so you won't have to add yet another remote to the coffee table."

There has got to be an external device that can do this. Verizon is killing me with this remote that can't be reprogrammed...will only let volume control the TV.
I don't think the phone accepts the magnet part so any angle like that and your phone wouldn't stay.
I picked up two of these. PowerBot® PB1020 Qi Enabled Wireless Charger Inductive Charging Pad... http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IQTGY2A/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_sxnCub06QJWWN
Rubber on the top keeps phone surface safe.
I think you should buy another bluetooth game controller. You can find them on amazon, gearbest, ebay or aliexpress. For example http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00WSVDPU6/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=141HX73NXI015&coliid=I3LHNWR39OX6X1
Just picked up this guy for $55! I have really enjoyed it. Great sound quality and great battery life as well.

This Monster Rockin' Roller 3 has a kick ass battery life (100 Hours), and you can charge phones and such off of it. Very nice for the campsite!

Outdoor Tech Big Turtle.
Big Turtle Shell.
Just got this in off a Kickstarter project and it's AWESOME. They just became available to the public this month.
Louder than my Sony BTX-500, has a ton more play time (16 hours), has a charging port that works even when the unit is off, BT 4.0 and NFC, and it mil-spec ruggedized AND splash proof. I literally just throw this thing around. I love it.

I'm in need of some new Active speakers, currently running Creative T20 (pc speakers) been eyeing the Thonet & Vander Hoch (available here in Sweden for about $200)
Are there any other speakers out there you think I should consider over these?
Edit: My TT is a Argon TT-2 (Rega clone I think?) and im using the TCC TC-750 Preamp
For the price and size, this dude isn't bad at all. One of my friends has it and carries it around.
I could really use this speaker in order to play music from my phone. Yay! Thanks for the contest.
Here you go:

Very small size, lasts for a long time on a battery charge, seems indestructible, and the sound quality is surprisingly good.
I gave my parents this one a couple years ago. They seem to like it. Has a charge port for your phone.
I have a TDK Boombox.
Sounds pretty good (given it's got 6 inch drivers) and gets pretty loud.
It's got plenty of inputs too, 1/8", 1/4", USB, and RCA.
There's a newer model available with a rechargeable battery and bluetooth here but it's a bit smaller with 5.25" drivers and lacks some of the inputs.
They also have a three speaker version (this is two), as well as a smaller one shaped like a cube.
There are quite a few boombox designs floating around actually, and to be honest I'd almost go with a commercial one (because well... I did... ) since when I was looking around at parts for an amp/bluetooth/etc. the cheapest I could make one was just about what a nice one would cost anyway so I picked up a TDK boombox that was on sale at Fry's for just over 100 bucks.
To me there is a huge inherent design flaw when approaching things like this, you hardly get any stereo separation so any person that is designing/building speakers is probably going to avoid this type of design anyway. I'd either just incorporate a sound bar design (which there are a few of) or make a similarly styled center channel to put in the cabinet and adjust for reduced baffle step losses.
oh, and this is the item in question!
I had to find a small speaker for a robot I was working on, these are the best I've found on Amazon, doesn't require usb power or anything although with my pi 3 I was having static issues that were fixed using a usb sound card.

Here you are, good sir. I know that Apple Stores carry these at MSRP ($99), and very few Best Buys have them as well. Nice little product, comparable to the Jawbone Jambox, but cheaper.
(Altec Lansing iMT800)[http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002I636YG?ie=UTF8&force-full-site=1]. It's supposed to sound good and have some dank volume capabilities. Lots of neat features as well for a good price.
