I use this balaclava mask for Winter cycling. The face mask OP is wearing is super powerful, but if you don't ride in sub zero F (or -17.78°C), then you'll be good to go.

It extends toward your chest and back, so it keeps your neck warm too. I really like it.

A balaclava keeps simple hairstyles from getting overly mussed. Also keeps your ears from folding, and prevents earrings catching inside your helmet

I use a polyester one from ZANHeadgear. It's a lifesaver, especially if you have a very snug helmet.

They mentioned the guy's weird face. I still think BG has one of these around his neck, which can be pulled up easily over his face, or, if his hands are in his pockets he could pull his neck down into it like a turtle. It could've been what made the girls think he was weird.

Maybe something like this would help, like a rashguard for your face.

One of my masks has a shaped mouth area, so it sort of domes over your mouth.

It's really not that nonsensical. I mean, you can order stuff that looks pretty close to that off Amazon, like this or this.

I'd go that route, but using this instead half face mask

Yeah but I'm sure you'll laugh LOL. There are much better legit allergy masks out there but this is what I'm currently using and it works surprisingly well. I wear it at night and it's very comfortable.

Oh and you can get then in different colors/styles of course. I just happened to have this one laying around.

Surgical masks would work well too but I find these more comfortable:)

As far as bandannas/ masks, I really like these because you don't need to tie/ re-tighten them around your face and they have little slits for breathing easier: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XK1K7Q9/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Lots of good advice - I always like to have an under layer...maybe fleece lined leggings, with a tank top (b/c my armpits still sweat a lot regardless, lol). I tend to do a long sleeve shirt over that, and then a light hoodie, with a warmer wool/winter coat over my hoodie (so I can have some level of protection if I'm in a hurry).

Hat, gloves, scarf...although...I used to do this thing where I would buy the $1 beanies that are like...everywhere...they're a little stretchy. But I would cut off the top (where the seam was sewn)...and turn it into an "everything" warmer. It's like a cheapy version of the tube-y face masks that have gotten popular in the last couple of years. I did it b/c my kids couldn't keep their scarves on their neck without it being scary tight...plus, it never fell off. And they are long enough that you can pull them up to cover the bottom of your face or ears.

Wool outer socks

Thermal underwear

Liner socks

Face mask

Edit: hat gloves and jacket are your picks, though I'd recommend fingerless gloves, or cut a pair of old gloves.

Sorry about the link, here's the Balaclava I've got mouth nose and eye protection figured out, but I want to protect my ears and forehead along with those. I don't want to buy a full mask because that's going to interfere with aiming, as well as mobility. Hope this stuff will suffice

big bearded backpacking balaclava owner here, i use the minus33 midweight merino wool balaclava for my winter uses, or i use my melanzana hood drawn tight as a clava as well.

i like the merino wool because it's not too tight, and will stretch to fit after not too long, does a great job of wicking away moisture and still stays fairly warm. i've also used those separate fleece hood/balaclava things, i got a cheap one at target years ago now. not this one, but close: https://www.amazon.com/Balaclava-Fleece-Hood-Performance-Construction/dp/B01316Y5T6/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1518499272&sr=8-4&keywords=fleece+hood+mask

This one is really overpriced and the piping on the mask really turns me off. I ordered one from Amazon that I just absolutely love.

Found some old BMW touring boots at a second-hand leather place for $40 a couple years ago. That was total luck so not helpful to you. But off-roading proved it was a matter of time before the bike landed on my feet somehow, so I went and ordered these Forma Adventure boots. Love 'em. Great protection and comfort, and super well made. Had ordered some MX boots prior but I felt like I was ready for space missions with those.

Gloves, try them on if you can. If not, maybe order a few pair at a time 'til you find a winner. I have some winter Triumph gloves that get me through the cold months.

For your neck, as stated already, a thin balaclava is the best option. It works.

Hi, recent grad here. My freshman year, temp hit -45F

I made it through on a cheap, generic $70 ASOS parka. The trick is to understand that what keeps you warm is your jackets ability to trap pockets of air and supplement that. 500-600 fill is pretty warm, 800-900 fill is premium so your 650 fill jacket and your Patagonia should be fine. On those really windy days, a scarf and hat go a longgggg way. I usually wore this thermal facemask under my scarf and I was quite comfortable. Also, thermal leggings under your jeans/pants work wonders. I didn't bother with gloves, just shoved my hands in my pockets.

If you're really insistent on getting a quality new jacket, I would say stick to the 200-400 dollar range parkas such as this from north face or this from LL Bean. Both brands have respectable Black Friday sales, especially at the outlet stores, and I think they may do some sort of student discount, depending on the location. Don't bother with the Canada Goose stuff. It is worth the money but you really don't need it unless you live in the Arctic Circle.

TLDR your jackets should be fine, get a scarf, hat, and thermal tights.

I was thinking about a neoprane mask like kinda like this, any suggestions on that
