This keyboard is ultraportable and has a USB connection mode.

You can always make your own USB keyboard using a teensy microcontroller and instructions from around the web. Massdrop sells kits every now and then.

I ordered a 12.9” iPad Pro and the only case I found that seemed to support the Apple Pencil and wireless charging was one by Ztotop. They also seem to make the same case for the 11” version. https://www.amazon.com/Ztotop-Strong-Magnetic-Minimalist-Trifold/dp/B07JVBFXVB

I decided to hold off on buying the 12.9” case since their other, similar cases for previous models had some mixed reviews concerning the quality. Also, the 12.9” case costs around $28, which is more than I wanted to spend for a likely temporary case. If it was closer to $15 I would have just bought it, but I decided to spend the money on an inexpensive sleeve that I will still be able to use even after I get a case for my iPad.

I got it and like it quite a bit.

Just picked up a ZAGG keyboard case for my 10.5'' iPad Pro.

I really cant get over how this thing is basically an almost fully functional PC in tablet form.

Stoked for the release of iPad OS, kind of holding off on the public beta until official release. Anyone wanna persuade me otherwise?

I got a MoKo Ultra Slim case (black). It works very well and the screen turns off when you close the case and turns on when you open it :).

Closest thing to what you describe: https://www.amazon.com/Elecbae-Keyboard-Case-iPad-2018/dp/B07QL4XJBB

Almost any angle hinge kickstand but no keyboard: https://www.amazon.com/Maxjoy-Compatible-iPad-Pro-Case/dp/B07MWXLPNL/

Another kickstand with keyboard, but not really a hinge kickstand: https://www.amazon.com/Inateck-Keyboard-Detachable-Compatible-KB02005/dp/B07MZT4N4H

Not kickstand, but the one that I went with: https://www.amazon.com/Muse-Case-Protective-Convenient-Magnetic/dp/B07H7VK7K8

I believe all 3 have been talked about throughout this thread, so if you search by their names, you can see how others feel about them (mostly positive for each one). I've been looking for one as well, though without the keyboard. Unfortunately, i don't think we have yet to have a stand that comes close to the fluidity of a Surface Pro hinge stand. I'm waiting to see if anything newer pops up in the fall (ideally hoping to see one with a trackpad). In the meantime, I picked up a Zugu case that has functioned pretty well.

u/ExiledBesmircher · 3 pointsr/iPadPro

I’m using an Apple Smart Keyboard, and I store my iPad Pro in a TomToc sleeve. It fits the iPad, keyboard, and pencil without having to take anything apart, and the protection is top notch.

UAG Folio iPad Pro 9.7-inch Feather Light Composite [BLACK] Military Drop Tested iPad Case https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01B3J0YZ2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_pFinzb134S336
Just got this one yesterday, liking it so far, not too thick and has a holder for Apple pencil

u/snapacap · 3 pointsr/Surface

i got This.

I got it because people said it was less bulky than the Kensington equivalent. I also looked at the UAG cases, but it seemed like a waste to not use the awesome kickstand built into the Surface Pro.

Also, I have found the pen holder to be super useful. It holds on and never lets go. I don't have much trouble using the ports with it on either.

Tried the Logitech it was the worst.

Tried the Apple keyboard, offered to little protection, likely caused my 10.5 pad to bend around smart connector (Apple wouldn’t say for sure but they replaced it for free) and Smart Keyboard offered no pencil holder. It was also super floppy and didn’t really work well while on my lap.

Husband bought a Zagg for his 9.7 and finally they came out with a case and keyboard for the 10.5.

The 8 colored back lighting, keys that compress like my MacBook Pro, the rugged case (which will protect from further bending), the long battery life on the keyboard (had it for 2 months and haven’t had to charge once), the magnetic connect that holds more secured than the floppy Smart Keyboard AND the pencil holder— make the Zagg the winner for me!

(Recently it was on sale for $70 and I was able to buy it for $49 months back).

can’t recommend enough.

u/rkba260 · 2 pointsr/flying

Have one. Tried the Sporty's one as linked by another user... it blows, don't get it.

I put mine into a keyboard / case combo then use a MyClip

I use the apple pencil with it so I can write down clearances and shit. It's super nice having a giant screen for ForeFlight, but being 6'2" I can get away with it. I can see for people that sit closer to the yoke how it might be a problem...

In contrast, I use a folding Plugable keyboard and it's actually really convenient for taking notes on my phone in school.

It's no glorious mechanical keyboard, but it's certainly a lot better than using a virtual keyboard or, god forbid, writing notes with a pencil.

u/Quiksylva · 2 pointsr/PixelBook

Picked this one up (12.9) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016VZYA5I/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_XoXDAbDK93WPW.
Fits ok, there is a tiny bit of space but it doesn't move around. There is also a loop in there to hold the pen, but I don't have a pen so can't comment on the fit.
Quality is just alright...Not amazing, not horrible.

u/JustBecameALurker · 2 pointsr/ipad

I like the Inateck keyboard case. I got it in July and it works great and I haven't even needed to charge the keyboard yet!

I have both 8bitdo SNES controllers:

  • SN 30 (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00VAQG5GQ/)
  • SN 30 Pro (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BNR6HG9)

The SN30 looks pretty much exactly like the original, except the text says "8Bitdo GamePad Bluetooth Controller" instead of "Super Nintendo Entertainment System". They're both great, and I've gotten pretty good scores in Tetris when playing alone.

But when more controllers are connected, and I'm playing multiplayer Tetris, there's an ever-so-slight input lag that makes me consistently make mistakes. Just switching to the left Joy-Con directional buttons is better.

So my main hope with this official one was that, since it's essentially a Pro controller with missing buttons and sticks, the input lag issue wouldn't exist. I haven't confirmed it. I'll do it this Friday at the office where we play Tetris regularly.

The fact that it also looks like the official one is just a plus ;)
u/haswelli5 · 2 pointsr/ipad

Yeah I can see how it would bug you if you edit photos. I found that matte screen protector also reduces glare so that helps since I read a lot of journal articles, but I think you should be okay without a screen protector.

Edit: Also, I do a decent amount of math and I found that I could easily lay a ruler or protractor down on my ipad and draw angles and lines. Though I would be hesitant to do that if I didn't have a screen protector. But if your major doesn't require that then this is irrelevant haha

Also I use this case as my back cover for the ipad pro and it goes well with the smart keyboard :)

u/atx512girl · 2 pointsr/ipad

I personally have a separate keyboard, but my use case has to take into account that I have kids that use my iPad occasionally so a very protective Ipad case/cover is a must. So I have an Otterbox on my 12.9 Pro. My keyboard is one I’m loving so far but haven’t used extensively so I’m keeping an open mind...I purchased the Plugable Full Size Folding Keyboard . Folds up and has a case that doubles as a stand for the Ipad. For under $50 on Amazon it was a great deal for me.

u/yungstevejobs · 2 pointsr/ipad

Otter body symmetry 360 from the Apple store. I have it on my iPad and it’s really nice. I also use this as sleeve to carry mine in when I put it in my backpack.

u/dabug91 · 2 pointsr/Nexus9

Wow, I really don't understand what's so incredibly difficult about manufacturing something that uses very little material. It's nowhere near worth the price since it only protects one side of the device anyway. Every single Nexus 9 owner on the planet would be better off buying a Moko Ultra Slim case or Multi-Angle case for under $15 rather than waiting for these stupid ones. It's completely inexplicable and inexcusable that third-party case makers can have multiple cases out MONTHS before the manufacturer.

I recently read reviews of the UAG Scout that rated it quite highly for this purpose. It slips over the Smart Keyboard Folio and protects the back of the case. It's not as slim as the case you had on your older 10.5 though.

Here's a 32 GB canakit package with case, power supply, HDMI, etc. Pretty much everything but the controllers. You save little by buying individually, and I've had good experiences with these (made about 12 thus far).

iBuffalo is the king of wired SNES controllers: https://www.amazon.com/BUFFALO-BSGP815GY-Classic-USB-Gamepad/dp/B06XWD8QQJ/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1503628239&sr=1-2&keywords=ibuffalo

8Bitdo gear is the way to go for wireless, but if your recipients aren't tech savy, wired might be better: https://www.amazon.com/SNES30-Game-Controller-PC-Mac-Linux/dp/B00VAQG5GQ/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1503628269&sr=1-1&keywords=snes30

I'd really stay awaay from controllers not made by those 2 brands. Everything else tends to be shit unless you're using an old Wii, Xbox, or PS controller.

u/ces715 · 2 pointsr/miniSNES

I recommend getting one of these (says NES Classic but should work with the SNES Classic since it uses the same controller port), and one of these.

(Bonus: The controller also works with PC and Switch)

u/MainHaze · 2 pointsr/gaming

The remotes really make all the difference in the world. I picked up one of these and use my original SNES gamepads for emulators now. Feels great!

I would have gone with this though, had I known about it and waited a bit. The wires on my set up are kind of tedious.

u/swar1es_barkley · 2 pointsr/ipad

Not sure of its availability overseas, but the khomo case is pretty popular stateside.

u/sigismond0 · 2 pointsr/retron5

To add on to that, this is compatible with the Retron, and is arguably the best controller option out there.

u/keithwbacon_ · 2 pointsr/onebag

I use this and it works great. It’s almost the same size keyboard as my MBP. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B019PIXO78

u/Whirlspell · 2 pointsr/PS4

Steelseries makes these stick-on buttons, but depending on who you ask, they either work or they don't.

I have this one: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01D9LJ0IO/ref=ya_aw_oh_bia_dp?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It is nice. I have a 10.5 Pro and with a case on it is a tight fit to get into this sleeve. Without the case it slides in perfectly. The pencil fits regardless.

u/mattyparanoid · 2 pointsr/ipad

I got this, holds the iPad Pro 9.7, in the smart case, small spot for the pencil inside. Cheap and works.

I'm considering this case. As want some protection but not the bulk or added weight.

Nice that can still use built-in stand and has a hand-strap.

u/thegiltron · 2 pointsr/ipad

This case is very nice. Supcase Unicorn Beetle. 2 viewing angles, and a place for the pencil. Very similiar to an Otterbox Defender. Don't think i'll be switching from this anytime soon.

I've got the Apple keyboard, a backing, and a non-apple stylus (I can't even read my own handwriting, so barely use it) that's around the size of an apple pencil, and they all fit perfectly.

u/attempt_number_two · 2 pointsr/iPadPro

I picked this up for now. I also preordered the one from Pad and Quill bc of the 30 day return policy. Im pretty happy with the Apple Smart Cover. It's adequate for me when I bring my whole backpack to school.

u/sachin571 · 2 pointsr/ipadmusic

Thank you! I considered that one, and just ordered the Supcase Unicorn Beetle Pro. Only $30 shipped, and survived CNET's drop test as compared to many other more expensive cases.

u/pr1sk · 2 pointsr/EDC

ZAGG Rugged Messenger 7 Color Backlit Case. Pricey but I love that thing. I don't use carry the keyboard when I carry my laptop. It's quite heavy.

u/SoaringFox · 2 pointsr/ipad

I think you should go for it. I never had my pro in college, but I use it for taking notes in meetings at work now and it is awesome. It takes a bit of getting used to because it feels different, but having everything in one place and being able to search through my handwriting (with Goodnotes) is worth it.

I got this case for mine. It's less than $20 and it has a little loop on one side to keep the Pencil in.

u/iworkyo · 1 pointr/ipad

I know people with this case and they like it.

Selling my iPad Pro in Hope's of buying the new Samsung Tab s6 when it comes out or getting some new computer parts. All together I'm looking for 725 shipped without insurance. Can do insurance for a little more.

So in the picture I attached you'll see two small Knicks on the right back side. No idea how they got there since the ipads been in a case 99% of the time. Luckily any case you put on will cover it. Other than that the ipad is in great condition.

Along with the ipad will come the Apple Pencil 2nd Gen and three cases, a folio case and a bluetooth keyboard. Comes with orginal charger and cable as well. I have the box for the ipad but not the pencil. Also I do have month to month applecare which I can try to transfer or just let it finish out.

I have the same fears and doubts. Most cases seem to be extremely fragile on their own, let alone with an apple pencil attached/wirelessly charging. I'm currently looking at the SUPCASE UB Pro Series and the Muse Case.

The muse seems great to work with, but seems to lack protection.
The SUPCASE seems to have great protection, but kinda unbalanced when standing.

Just bought this cover from Amazon last week. Only 30 bucks and I'm very impressed with the quality so far. It looks good, and provides solid protection, plus acts as a stand much like the apple smart cover. I'm sure there are probably better options but most are in the 60-100 dollar range. For 30 I got exactly what I wanted with this one.

u/RazorfishX · 1 pointr/pixel_slate

Since the Incipio case is not available where I am or online (as far as I can tell), I ended up getting a folio case with a PU leather/flexible holding frame designed for the Microsoft Surface Pro 4-6 series of devices and cutting out a little of the left sleeve's lower edge to provide access to a USB-C port.

Pros:

  • more lightweight than the Incipio case (195g vs 590g)
  • the screen holding frame is possibly more secure and less damaging than a generic case with edge loops or hard clasps
  • built-in kickstand has as much positional angle flexibility as Google's keyboard cover (but uses velcro instead of magnets/friction/weight to secure it into place)
  • soft interior padding for device protection
  • elastic strap that can be used to secure the folio closed or open
  • built-in pen loop (I needed to stretch it out a little before I could thread a pen through it)
  • Google's keyboard cover can optionally be used with the case. The holding frame protects the screen from getting scratched by the keyboard's stopper nubs while also giving the nubs enough purchase to prevent the keyboard from sliding around as much. Also, the folio gives the tablet + keyboard combo stability for lap use and protects the keyboard cover itself from damage.

    Cons:

  • kickstand has no portrait mode
  • no "smart" cover magnet to automatically turn the device on or off when opening or closing the folio (not an issue if using it with the pixel slate keyboard)
  • need to add your own cutout(s) for USB-C port access (and rear-facing camera, if you like taking pictures with your tablet), and possibly widen the front speaker cutout clearance
  • the padding adds thickness to the device's profile
  • the built-in kickstand increases the device's footprint a little when used with the keyboard
u/the_steak_man · 1 pointr/iPadPro

I found two cases designed to work with the iPad Pro and Smart Keyboard:

I-Blason: https://www.amazon.com/i-Blason-Designed-Keyboard-Compatible-Protective/dp/B07PQVDHK9
Urban Armor Gear: https://www.amazon.com/11-inch-Feather-Light-Rugged-Military-Tested/dp/B07RPY4PQF

The iBlason appeared to be lighter and lower profile, so I bought it. Note that there’s a v1 and v2, from reading reviews, make sure to get the V2.

Some additional feedback from using it for a week:

The material is soft and pliable, the listing says TPU for the bumper. The clear part is also rather soft and actually picked up a few scratches when I was cleaning it with a cloth! Not a huge deal though, since you can’t really see it installed on the dark case.

I weighed the case by itself at 2.8 ounces. That’s just enough additional weight to be a bit noticeable. it also makes the iPad a bit top-heavy when you set it in typing mode. I’m not sure if it’s accurate but the Amazon listing for the UAG Scout notes the product weighs 5 ounces, which would likely make the iPad quite top-heavy.

u/Imacdavey · 1 pointr/ipad

This one is pretty good. It can hold a 12.9 with the Apple Smart Keyboard folio case and the pencil. It’s a little rigid.

u/This_ls_The_End · 1 pointr/Surface

u/Shrave · 1 pointr/Surface

I highly recommend ProCase's Surface Pro case. It'll allow you to keep the type cover on and use it on your lap without it toppling over. I have one for my Samsung tablet and it works like a charm. It also allows for a variety of viewing angles so you can even lay in bed and watch something. Check out the reviews and pictures from other customers.

I ordered this screen protector, faceID seems to be working fine after settling. I don’t have an Apple Pencil to test resistance or sensitivity though:

I love this controller, but it looks like it’s discontinued. The newer model has dual thumb sticks and shoulder triggers, which makes it more useful for other platforms, but I’ve never tried them

I have the Moko case. A near copy of the Kensington case. It’s been on my surface for months. I like it. It adds some bulk, but it still allows me to use the surface stand. I also ended up putting on a couple of vinyl stickers on the stand portion so I get protection while still being able to personalize the surface.

UAG case is the most rugged I can find that allows the keyboard. My wife and I have one on each iPad 9.7 pro, and I use the keyboard all the time.

Also works with the smart cover, and has a pencil holder!

It does take a way from such an awesome portable device. I have started usingtouch screen tabs/buttons they help quite a bit, they have very good suction, the only problem is it comes with 3 buttons and not 4 which the vita's rear pad is broken into.

Sorry I can't help on the stylus side of things since I haven't touched one since my Palm Pilot.... and that seems like a lifetime ago. And I certainly didn't do any art with it!

But since few are recommending a case cheaper than the Apple's own, I have the Devicewear Ridge on mine, it has been my favorite case so far, and it fits your low-profile request plus your bonus smart cover / magnet wants. BUT unfortunately for you it doesn't have a stylus holder. I did a quick search for one with a stylus holder and most have the "slide in" sleeves for your iPad (Like the Snugg case ) which I would not recommend, I had that kind before I got the Devicewear and the sleeve area always got in the way of the edges of the screen. Another sort-of option would be the Moko case, but beware that you have to partially pop it out of the case to use it as a kickstand, which was a deal-breaker for me. However, it has a hand strap and stylus loop and doesn't cover the screen. So it may work for you.

Personally I'd look for one that clips in like the Devicewear (especially if you are doing art on it), or just sew on your own stylus loop if you have those skills.

I have a similar setup also for school. I use a Bluetooth Logitech Tablet Keyboard and I have an OTG cable that I use occasionally for USB storage and sometimes a spare Logitech wireless (unified) desktop mouse I have lying around. (Also, if you're looking for a case recommendation, I'm using the MoKo cover that a few other people on this sub recomended, and it's been pretty nice--especially for the price)

I find this setup to work pretty well, but the mouse is usually overkill. Another thing to point out with my mouse is that if you don't use it after a very brief period of time, it disconnects into a power saving mode and takes a while to reconnect. A few other notes from my experience with mice on Android is that left, middle and right clicks all act as touch inputs; hover events work in specific applications like Chrome; scrolling works like you'd expect it to; and the back button acts like the system back button (but the forward button is useless, even in Chrome).

I can definitely recommend the keyboard, though. The one I linked to already is a full-sized keyboard with decent keys and shortcuts that work like they say. Alt + Tab also works like on Windows--and it's amazing to say the least. Typing on it still feels a bit weird, and possibly my biggest gripe about it is that if you're holding Shift, the backspace button doesn't do anything.

I'm not really sure how it works to have multiple Bluetooth connections since I haven't really tried it before, but I think that the Nexus 9 supports multiple connections, even to older Bluetooth revisions. My only experience with this, however, is the fact that I once had my tablet connected to my laptop and the keyboard over Bluetooth.

UAG make a case that sits over the top of the Apple keyboard and iPad in one, a link provided to the 11 inch version (I know you have the 12.9 inch but you can work from the link to find the 12.9.

Im expecting my new iPad to arrive this weekend so im looking for a reasonably priced iPad Pro 11 case (no keyboard)

Ive love the Apple Smart Folio (w/o keyboard) but its wayy too expensive tbh at £85?

Ive seen a couple on Amazon that have the same look and was wondering if anyone here had any suggestions?

Seen this one by searching this subreddit - Ztotop?

u/cdbaker3 · 1 pointr/Surface

This post is a bit old now, and idk if you ever picked up the UAG case you mentioned, but I've had luck with this case.

My favorite feature on my SP6 is the kickstand without a doubt, but most cases block the use of the kickstand unfortunately, so I found this case and have used it for about 4 months now.

The only downfall of this case is that the plastic bar at the bottom where the kickstand is located is noticably flimsy. After months of use, however, I don't see this piece ever breaking under regular use nor any reason to hold the Surface from that point anyways as there is a strap built in that works quite well.

Other than that, it's a sturdy case with a nice rubber keyboard tab on the corner to keep your cover in place when not in use, and I have access to all of the ports, the kickstand, and the SD slot behind the kickstand.

Oh yeah, and the Pen holder works a little too well. You'll never lose it, but I recommend pulling the pen out rather than sliding it out as the tight grip will just pull the pen apart revealing the battery compartment.

The consensus is that it's expensive but most people who buy it enjoy it and find it worth it. Before you bite the bullet maybe consider this case from Amazon which is pretty much a carbon copy of the Apple folio and it has high reviews and costs nearly 1/5 of the price. Mine arrives tomorrow in the mail so hopefully it'll be good. If not I can always return it to Amazon for free with Prime.
