I only found one older post similar to this from months ago, so sorry if something like this was posted recently and I missed it.

Finally got around to getting my SMD components organized in a useful and convenient way...All of my small sectional storage boxes were getting full and those things get expensive/take up way too much space...I was also annoyed at needing to keep components stored in their sections of tape to keep them from slipping through cracks into other sections...The obvious solution: Test tubes! Compact, easy to label and move around, easy to dispense from and very cheap!

Now, these are what I ordered:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CSWFMOC/

A word of caution however...There is a reason I left gaps between the sections...While it is supposed to be a set of 90 tubes and caps, I only received 87 tubes and about 77 caps...Reading the reviews, it seems this is common...For ~$17 though I am not terribly upset and not going to bother trying to get it corrected.

> Can this be done safely

I highly doubt it. And even if it could be done safely, I'm sure it's not worth the effort.

You really only need the screw base from the C9 bulb. Everything else is negotiable.

So I say break the glass off the C9 bulb. Then use nippers to cut the filament off the support wires. Solder an LED and resistor where the filament used to be.

Then find some kind of clear plastic tubes that are the right diameter to fit into the C9 screw base. (Maybe you can find some cheap plastic test-tubes of about the right diameter and cut them to length.) Epoxy them into the metal screw base. Now you have a "bulb" designed to run on low voltage.

Then just wire all the sockets up with 5V.

See if you can find something like these and this. The test tube rack fits on my scale just fine. I use the 8 ml tubes but they go much higher. Be sure to match up the diameter of the rack holes and tubes. Inexpensive, reusable , quick and efficient.

Complete the set with 5ml water pippets and 14ml test tubes.

They don't have to be specifically for the test kit

Just mark them halfway down with a sharpie or something. These might actually be better since they have screw tops.

The one review says that they're using them for aquarium testing.

Couldn't find the exact set I got (wasn't on amazon) but [here] (https://www.amazon.com/Scientific-Plastic-Container-Cylindrical-bottom/dp/B01M8M33G4) is an example, and [here] (http://imgur.com/a/qlm64) is what I have. I bought them about a year ago and can't find the exact site, if I do I'll edit it in, but the ones on amazon should do the same thing.

EDIT: [Sauce] (http://www.lcmlab.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=23) I bought the 17mm. Don't be me and buy yourself a 12mm. I'm sure mine will be fine I'm just a tad ocd and I hate knowing I bought a greater-than-the-diameter set. Oh well.

edit 2: ordered the 12mm

I think it was this one, it was the only pack I could find :) UEETEK 15pcs 110ml Flat-Bottomed Plastic Clear Test Tubes with Screw Caps Candy Cosmetic Travel Lotion Containers https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0796D3JXR/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_zWFOCb6TGK737

Look for lab vials or test tubes.

If these are not the ones you look for try the given keywords and scroll through Amazon, there are a lot of different variants.

Amazon sells plastic ones with caps that you could order, but it looks like a lot of them come in packs of 50. Here's one that's a pack of 12 for $10. Your local big box store might also sell them? As long as it's plastic, has a rounded bottom and a cap it should be fine.

Plastic can be ok. Go to a headshop and get a glass slide and bowl or check amazon even. Here...

4" Silicone Downstem Stem 14mm Female to 18mm Male (Light Green) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078L1ZD6G/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_bpm1CbM8S1NJ3

Get one of those, or a glass one if you prefer although it'll be less flexible with making a good seal.

They also have multi packs of glass bowls for like $5.

Or even better

It looks like it would function well, but like everyone else said, probably not safe to smoke much out of.

Ill even ship you a cheap downstem/bowl if you need. Or even a little bong if its cheap enough.

I just got some of these. Plastic. Won’t break. I just got my test kit a week ago and have already broke 2 tubes lol

For rest stir storage I just moved all of mine into plastic test tubes this weekend. It took me a few hours to separate them from the paper strips, label the tubes, and out all the resistors into them but it was totally worth it. They were $10 from Amazon (Hicarer 50 Pieces Clear Plastic Test Tubes 12 by 75 mm with Push Caps, 5 ml https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074V7T8HJ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_F6ZZAbFE5GYX9)

Erm, if you have 7 of them, maybe fill 2 or 3 with the same ink? ;) (Teasing!)

You could get something like the following to store your re-sealed cartridges in so you don't have to worry about leaks:

...or a small food container.
