Bayonetta 2 - Normal

Bayonetta 2 - Special Edition

Did a quick look around other retailers, seems they're charging us extra.

Edit: Just check the prices and conversion betwen USA/UK. Seems we are getting the special edition for the same price you're paying for both so it works out the same. Getting the stand alone game for cheaper too.

Worthwhile games under $20

Wii U:

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (Currently $20 on Amazon via third-party seller) - A solid action game with good online play.

Scribblenauts Unlimited ($17 on Amazon via third-party retailer, inc. shipping) and Unmasked ($18 on Amazon) - A fun little creative toy where you solve puzzles by creating... well, just about anything.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution (Currently $15 on Amazon) - A superb FPS, and the Wii U version is arguably the definitive console version of the game.

Batman: Arkham City: Armored Edition ($11 on BestBuy.com) - The definitive version of one of the best superhero games of all time.

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 ($19 on Amazon) - A good fighting game.

Injustice: Gods Among Us ($14 on BestBuy.com) - A surprisingly good fighting game

Lego Marvel (Currently $20 on Amazon) - One of the better of the LEGO games, and the Wii U gamepad means that co-op play can be done with each player getting their own screen.

Assassin's Creed III (Currently $12 on Amazon via third-party seller, inc. shipping) and Black Flag ($19 on Amazon via third-party retailer, inc. shipping) - They're not really all that much better on the Wii U than other platforms, but if you don't have them yet these are decent entries in the series.

Resident Evil Revelations ($17 on BestBuy.com) - A decent entry in the series.

Wii:

Super Mario Galaxy ($20 on Amazon) - One of the best Mario games ever made, and generally considered to be one of the best videogames of all time.

Resident Evil 4 ($15 on Amazon) - One of the best survival horror games ever made.

Okami ($20 on Amazon) - A Zelda-style game with a beautiful calligraphy style.

Sin & Punishment: Star Successor ($18 on Amazon) - An action-packed shooter

Kirby's Epic Yarn ($14 on Amazon via third-party seller, inc. shipping) - It's so saccharine-cute it'll make your teeth rot, but if you can put up with that, it's an extremely inventive and fun platformer.

No More Heroes ($19 on Amazon) - A fun, very silly, violent action game.

Trauma Center: Second Opinion ($18 on Amazon) - Part surgery sim, part wicked hard arcade game.

De Blob ($18 on Amazon via third-party, inc. shipping) - A fun, inventive platformer where you bounce around to paint the scenery.

MadWorld ($11 on Amazon via third-party, inc. shipping) - A good, hyper-violent action game.

Wii U Nintendo eShop:

Shovel Knight - Old-school platformer goodness, designed like someone took the best parts of your favorite NES games and mashed them all together.

Art of Balance - A puzzle game that has you stacking blocks. It's really well-made.

Guacamelee: Super Turbo Championship Edition - A truly excellent Metroidvania-style game with a killer fighting engine and a fun, silly luchador theme. If you don't already have this on another platform, you need to get it.

Trine 2: Director's Cut - An excellent platform/puzzle game, and the Wii U version is arguably the best because the touchscreen is integrated very well.

WiiWare:

World of Goo - A superb puzzle game where you must construct various structures to get your goo to the exit.

Lost Winds 1 & 2 - Very good platformers that make good use of the Wii remote to make the gameplay interesting.

Bomberman Blast - 8-player online Bomberman. Aww yisssss.

Wii U Virtual Console - Too many good old-school games to list.

Wii Virtual Console - Tons and tons of good old-school games. It's not quite as convenient as the Wii U virtual console, because you have to go into Wii mode to play them and you can't play them with the Wii U gamepad, but the selection on the Wii's Virtual Console is far, far better than on the Wii U, and at the rate Nintendo is adding games to the Wii U Virtual Console, it looks like it'll probably stay that way for a long time. Keep in mind that if Nintendo adds a game to the Wii U Virtual Console that you already have on the Wii Virtual Console, they'll give you a discount on it to entice you to upgrade, so don't hold off just because you're hoping the game you want will come to the Wii U Virtual Console if it's already on the Wii Virtual Console.

Edit: Well, damn. Today Nintendo announced what is kinda' a game-changer - they're releasing Wii games directly for download on the Wii U's eShop for $20 each ($10 each on the week they're first released). The first game, Super Mario Galaxy 2, is out now, and the next two games will be Metroid Prime Trilogy and Punch-Out!!

All three of those games are extremely good, and have been selling for far more than the asking price (Metroid Prime Trilogy was $60-100 used before this news). If you're looking for cheap Wii U games and never got these titles on the Wii, Nintendo has just dropped the gauntlet with a deal you can't refuse.

I thought that there's no way they could ask for that much for a facelifted version of a game that came out two years ago (by the time the new version is released), but sure enough, the Wii U version will be fifty bucks.

It seems like anyone who has wanted to play HR at someone should have been able to get it at bargain-bin prices already, so I can't imagine that this new SKU will sell very well (in addition to the Wii U's low market penetration).

u/nemeth88 · 4 pointsr/wiiu

If you like action games (DMC, bayonetta, MGSR) check out The Wonderful 101. Youtube videos explaining the game are here.

I have a Hori screen protector for my gamepad. If you have the charge cradle, I'd wait and see on a bigger battery – Nintendo sells an official high capacity battery, but I don't see the need for it unless you have 4+ hour gaming sessions.

The 20% off E3 deal is active for both... I really, really hope these are just placeholder prices... Colour Splash should be no more than $74.99 and hopefully Mario Party and Pokemon Sun/Moon drop back down to the MSRP of $49.99...

Or do you guys think these prices will be the new normal?

u/serotonin_flood · 4 pointsr/amiibo
  • WW Zelda is a Japan import via Amazon. You can still get it for $14.13 + S&H here.

  • Other two I managed to find for retail price on eBay.
u/ilovesnes · 3 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I don't recall Wii U titles ever costing £49.99 physically. Even Zelda BOTW is £40 on Amazon. Do you have any examples?

u/Comment_karma_only · 3 pointsr/amiibo

Or even Amazon Japan? I believe they changed their shipping so that amiibo can ship worldwide without a forwarding service such as Tenso.

u/TriforceOfBacon · 3 pointsr/pokemongo

Amazon says release is on March 18, so that appears to be accurate.

Assuming Pokemon GO will be released between Pokken and Sun/Moon, we're looking at anywhere between late March and mid-November. IMO, it will drop during the summer. It's a game based on geolocation, so we'll be out, walking around. It wouldn't make sense to release it during colder months.

u/Nawara_Ven · 3 pointsr/AskGames

OP refers to himself as an Englishman in his comment history. He just had to be difficult!

Bayonetta 1 and Bayonetta 2 play nearly identically, with the lore, etc. being established as a series of surprises in 1, which are ratified and made sense of in 2. In other words, they work extremely well as a duo. Getting the special edition is only 5 GBP more than Bayonetta 2 alone.

Really the only reason I can think of for not getting both is that 2 has a higher PEGI rating re: sexuality. (1 and 2 are both M for the ESRB because any sexuality at all is an anathema to North Americans, I guess).

u/Gr8NonSequitur · 3 pointsr/wiiu

[Need for speed most wanted u] ( http://www.amazon.com/Need-Speed-Most-Wanted-Nintendo-u/dp/B00A39IEN8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1382974724&sr=8-1&keywords=need+for+speed+most+wanted+u ) is Really fun, but reminds me more of Burnout Paradise than prior NFS games. It's gorgeous has all the features of the other versions (including online play) and uses the PC textures (so it looks better than the PS360 versions). It also supports just about every control scheme but doesn't have real local multiplayer. I've only raced a few times online, but each time it was quick / easy to find people. I also enjoy jumping through the Billboards, when you knock one out it puts your Mii up there and lists you as "Most Wanted". It also records the distance you jumped and the car you did it in. If anyone on your friends list beats your jump then their Mii is put up there (and it keeps a little score underneath showing how you rated and anyone else on your list). Very cool.

Sonic and All Stars Racing Transformed is a Fantastic Kart Racer and the transformations really change it up. It supports 5 people local (4 player split screen + 1 on the gamepad) and 10 online. This one I own on PC , so I can't speak to the Wii U 's online community, but the game is so good (I have 83 or 84 stars into it) I'm thinking about a double dip so I can get more people in my house playing.

They're only ~ $20 each with free shipping (from Amazon linked above), so why not get them both ?

Ah, oh well. I imagine any option goes notably above retail then just because of international shipping. I actually bought mine from AmiAmi (who ships internationally) a ways back when they restocked it, but it doesn't look like they have it anymore. I know amazon.uk ships to the US, and they have it for their retail price, but I don't know where else they ship internationally or even where you live. (and it ends up costing 22 US dollars, at least to ship to the US) Not sure if that's really any better than any other option you may have.

I don't really know anything about using Ebay outside of the US, but this listing isn't terribly priced and says it ships to a variety of countries. It's free shipping to US at least, I don't know if that's available otherwise.

u/dhessi · 2 pointsr/wiiu

From the eshop, Runner 2 is a lot of fun. It's sort of a hybrid between a rhythm game and a sidescroller. Also I've heard good things about Trine 2. I've played Trine 1, which was awesome, and the sequel also supports 3-player co-op.

As for physical games, New Super Mario Bros is a must (as long as you like Mario platformers). Need For Speed: Most Wanted is a really fun racing game, and I think it's the best-looking Wii U game out right now. Sonic All-Stars Racing is good if you're looking for something like Mario Kart or Diddy Kong Racing (your car transforms into a plane or boat during races). I've only played the demo, but I have the full game coming in the mail.

Speaking of which, Amazon has a sale on pretty much every Wii U game right now. For the ones I mentioned:

>However, if you go to Target, they are selling the New Super Mario Bros U + Luigi U Wii U bundle for 299.99 plus a $25.00 gift card. You can get Target to price match Best Buy (274.99) and still receive Target's gift card, meaning you pay $250.00 and get two games instead of one.

Luigi U $30 or $16 used

New Super Mario Bros. U $30-$40 new or $20 used

A refurbished Nintendo is $200.

If I buy the bundle at a local Target then the taxes alone will wipe out any incentive for the bundle.

Maybe I am way off here. Would love your input.

The Marth, Ike, Robin, and Lucina amiibo are all compatible with Fire Emblem Fates.

amiibo are becoming more and more common to find recently. You should easily be able to find Marth at Best Buy and Ike at GameStop (Keep in mind that Ike is currently a GameStop exclusive). As for Robin and Lucina, those are currently out of stock, so your best bet would be to try and find them for as cheap a price you can online. Probably on Amazon, as the Japanese imports shouldn't cost too much over the usual store price.

EDIT: Here's the Robin amiibo for $14.82 (Click here) and the Lucina amiibo for $14.04 (Click here). For comparison, the suggested retail price for amiibo in-stores is $12.99, except at Toys 'R' Us, where amiibo are $13.99.

  • Mario Maker - $20
  • Hyrule Warriors - $20
  • MH3U - $5.60
  • Smash Wii U - $20
  • Splatoon - $20
  • Mario 3D World - $9.60
  • New Super Mario Bros. U - $12

Those are some mighty low desired price points... You say that you're using Gamestop as the baseline for those but there are 4 other retailers that also accept trade ins.

    Game | Best Buy| Amazon | Target | Walmart
    -SMM-| $27.00 | $35.17 | $28.50 | $30.61
    -HW-- | $27.00 | $21.47 | $11.35 | $22.98
    MH3U | $3.00 | ^^^^. $2.62 | $4.95 | $5.97
    Sm4sh | $23.00 | $23.51 | $11.75 | $23.49
    Splatoon | $23.00 | $29.96 | $23.75 | $21.36
    SM3DW | $17.00 | $18.76 | $11.75 | $21.00
    NSMBU | $14.00 | $20.04 | $8.10 | $12.57

I understand that you want to spend only $107.20 on 7 games but folks can get $162.65 if they shop around for the best values for their games. That being said the best prices I can find are:

  • SMM @ Best Buy (pre-owned) $49.99 OR Toys R Us $49.99 (new with promo code 10OFFWIIU)
  • Hyrule Warriors @ Target (new) $47.99
  • MH3U @ Gamestop (used) $14.99
  • Sm4sh @ Amazon (used) $45.99
  • Splatoon @ Amazon (used) $45.99
  • SM3DW @ Nintendo.com (refurbished) $30.00
  • NSMBU @ Nintendo.com (refurbished) $20.00

That comes to $254.95 which looks to be a bit more than you wanted to pay. Unfortunate for you that Target just had a B2G1 free on video games the previous week. Basically made all games 33% off. Aside from eBay and Craigslist, those are the best prices I can find on these items at the moment.

Once upon a time, in the land of the Mushroom Kingdom, Peach was kidnapped by Bowser for the millionth time. Mario decided there was no time to waste, and thought of the fastest way to save the beloved princess. After conferring with Luigi, he decided that 2D platforming took less time while still being great fun, and so he set off, on his adventure to save the princess, and beat back the evil Koopa family. How did you get regular Mario? SMB regular Mario isn't even out yet. Is it SSB Mario with the fireball?

Is it the Mario Party 10 Bundle where Mario and the game are both in the same box? Cause the Walmart Gold Mario + MP10 bundle wasn't like the standard bundle seen here

Bayonetta 1 isn't going for 100 bucks.

Bayonetta 2 with the Bayonetta 1 disk included is. It was a limited release. At some point, they stopped including Bayonetta 1 with #2.

New copy for the two disks (both games):

This is the starter pack for Disney Infinity 2.0 which is a better game overall then the first Disney Infinity and is actually cheaper.

I'd still probably start with the first game but there really is no penalty to starting here. If the girl is a big Marvel fan, this may be the place to start. If she is a bigger Disney fan, I might start with the first Disney Infinity.

Glad you got some good suggestions. Definitely check out the recommended game lists on the right sidebar, and for future reference please ask for game recommendations in the weekly question thread above. P.S. The LEGO movie videogame for the Wii U is currently on sale, I don't have the link but someone posted it on the first or second page.

EDIT: Here is the link to the deal on LEGO: Marvel game on the Wii U and here is the link to the one I mentioned above. Good luck!

> You can sell the game right now for $60. Idk how you got a $28 one.

Was a deal-of-the-day thing on Best Buy. Obviously dead now.

But even on Amazon, you can get a brand-new sealed copy for $42. I don't know about being able to sell them for $60, unless you don't live in 'murrica.

To be fair, you're comparing two different versions of the game there judging by the box art. (Though I don't know the difference between the "Ultimate Edition" and the "Director's Cut")

Also, as far as I can tell, it's actually cheaper to purchase for the PS3 than it is on Steam.

$16 on Amazon.

$20 on Steam
