You can buy a vegan starter. I think they come in powdered form and it may come in plastic but you only have to buy it once (always keep a litter of your yogurt for the next batch) and you will save way more plastic in the future by not buying already made yogurt.

Here's one I found through amazon, but you can also try health stores or vegan friendly grocery stores.

But the best way is to find someone who already has a live culture yogurt and ask to have a little of it. I bet there's a place on the internet that helps you find local people to exchange yogurt cultures and sour dough starters with. And if there isn't we should make one.

I have tried for years to make yogurt using store bought yogurt as a starter, but it always got thinner and weaker with each batch, so I needed to buy fresh yogurt every couple of weeks. This heirloom culture just keeps going and going.

Hi there! Fellow dairy/alcohol free ketoer who is also avoiding keto treats/breads simply because they trigger cravings for the real thing. Two months in so I don't have a ton of advice but here are a a few finds that have helped me a lot :)

Protein shakes are a daily go-to for me (I use IsoPure currently but plan to switch to Ancient Nutrition because I don't want the whey) but I find that adding fat really balances things out and helps with satiety. I add ground pumpkin seeds to my shakes! Gives them shakes a nice mellow pumpkin flavor (which I adore and fall is almost upon us) and the nutrition profile of pumpkin seeds is AMAZING. They're anti-parasitic and anti-microbial as well. I was using flax but it's high in phytoestrogens (like really high). I'd give it a try, especially if protein shakes are a regular thing for you!

Bone. Broth. Not broth made from stock or bullion cubes - bone broth. My choice of bone broth has like 7grams of protein per 30cals - that's more protein per calorie than my protein powder. I know you're not in this for weight loss but it's an AMAZING way to increase protein and electrolyte intake if you need a little boost with no preparation. Oh yeah. Let me do this while refreshing ssc. I'm very excited to endow my knowledge.

You need:

  1. A FULL tray of ice cube
  2. 16 quart pot or bigger
  3. 25 Yakult Probiotic Drink (total of 5 rows of 5 count Yakult if you buy legit Korean ones like I do)
  4. 1 bottle Jinro soju (no Chum Churum because brand loyalty)
  5. Single chopstick

    Procedure:

  6. Without disintegrating rows of 5-count Yakult, for each Yakult, poke on the top and make a big circle while maintaining the chopstick inside of the bottle
  7. Pour the Yakult into the pot
  8. Put item 1, 4 into the pot (only the content of them. not the containers)
  9. Smoke some pot

So I know a lot about this. I've been dealing with acid reflux at night for 10+ years and I have a pretty good handle on it. So first of all, if you can sleep on your back, it's the best position for acid reflux and noticing palpitations. What works for me also is to create a wedge incline with several pillows so that my head is elevated above my stomach. I also drink Calm mixed with Benefiber and that helps to aid with digestion, especially heavy meals (I sometimes drink Kefir as well). What I've noticed over the years is that once my stomach empties, maybe 3-5 hours after eating, I can usually sleep however I want, but sometimes you just eat really late and it can't be helped (maybe eat a lighter meal is this instance). So basically, try not to lay down or at least sit upright until it's time for bed. The last advice is to try and avoid foods that you know bother your stomach, for instance, I know that I can eat Whole Wheat Bread, because I get horrible heartburn and reflux. Good luck.

Just buy kefir grains and throw them in a jar with milk, replenish every 24 - 48 hours depending on how you like your kefir. if you purchase offline, usually kefir grains come with more detailed instructions, but there's really nothing you have to do outside that

Also it's 9g "net" carbs. 9 - <1 = 9. When counting carbs round up for all non-whole carbs.

e: NEVER trust a website's claimed nutrition info. ONLY go off of the printed nutrition label from the store, or a picture of it. They can and do lie for websites. They can't on nutition labels. Though be careful of odd wording all around it too.

I usually grab my Greek yogurt from Costco (Kirkland brand) and was pleasantly surprised to find they now stock a Chobani full fat Greek yogurt.

I find the taste of a lot of low-carb yoghurt to be too chalky since they also tend to remove the fat. Siggi's 4% milk fat yoghurt however, is creamy and delicious. Maybe you can try adding a spoonful of sugar-free jam.

Kefir feels great! I drink it every day unless I'm fasting, and sometimes I'll even monomeal kefir for lunch. There are days I go without, and it's missed, but physiologically there are no issues..

I bought my grains on Amazon and am most satisfied. Grains woke up quickly, had no problem with raw milk, and came with instructions, small plastic sifter, and plastic lid for standard size Mason jar.

Funny you should mention it, I recently tried out Amazon's PrimeNOW service. Among the stuff I got was some plain greek yogurt. The price was very low ($1.49/32 oz). Stock up now while you can.

Protein shakes, avocados (with Tajin seasoning), roma tomatoes (with lemon juice), bananas, sliced green peppers with peanut butter (great nighttime snack), cucumbers, cheese (Havarti is delicious), Chobani greek yogurt, glazed walnuts, Lara bars, Clif builder bars, FruitChia bars, steak (with corn and squash), chicken breasts and wings, ranch style beans, raspberries, eggs, and bacon.

I love the bars man because they're about the same price as a candy bar, and they taste like a candy bar, but they give me amazing clean energy.

I haven't tried the liquid form of sucralose yet, as I have some Stevia (liquid form) that I'm trying out right now. I actually put some in my full fat, low sugar strained greek yogurt this morning with some cinnamon and it was amazing! I haven't given stevia the full work over yet, and I've never had too much of a sweet tooth, but I was heartily impressed with yogurt this morning.

I haven't tried any of the alcohols yet.

I do have to say, though, that I really enjoy the flavor of sucralose. As far as substitutes go, it's been my favorite so far.
