Yeah the Rii F1 Micro is perfect, it's better spending a little bit more to get a decent quality OTG cable IMO (the cheap angled adapters look worrying).

I also just bought this 32gb USB flash drive for my sister (I have the 64gb version): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Cruzer-Fit-Flash-Drive-SDCZ33-064G-B35/dp/B00812F7O8/ (needs to be the 2018 edition).

With that USB flash drive I could hack from the 2nd front port, before moving to the back with OTG.

Try this here https://www.amazon.it/gp/aw/d/B06XWSH129?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_image I have an "old" LG tv in my room (which I also take here and there for playing with friends) and this solution works fine.. screen may result little ok.. but.. it's fine for playing old games as they used to be.. I guess.. 馃槀 this one requires the scart cable or adapter tought.. otherwise you can try https://www.amazon.it/your-orders/pop/ref=ppx_yo_mob_b_pop?_encoding=UTF8&gen=canonical&lineItemId=jgsjmtjrmopuqoy&orderId=171-5950673-6723521&packageId=1&returnSummaryId=&returnUnitIndices=&shipmentId=D6GFHghpL this one if you use the cables but the result seems to be less good than the one above ..

Let me know if it worked 馃憤

Thanks, will do.

Regarding following the bleemsync steps to just deploy the kernel, am I right I just need to follow steps 1-13?

Also regarding using the OTG splitter cable approach, am I right to assume this would allow *all* usb sticks to work? so no power draw issues at all?

Below the otg cable and usb stick I'm thinking of purchasing: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07M83762Y/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?smid=A2CBW8FNZCDSJI&psc=1

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07855LJ99/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&psc=1

or

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00P8XQPY4/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&psc=1

Thanks again

Interesting project idea! I鈥檓 not sure you could get it down to that size without a custom PCB, but it鈥檚 definitely within the realm of possibility. You鈥檇 need a USB-A Out Breakout Board, a USB-A In Breakout Board, a small Micro SD Card Reader, a small USB Hub PCB, and a 3D printer. If you stuck to using breakout boards, you could still probably get something close to the size of an original PlayStation memory card.

I'm gonna reply before you waste your money.

This is NOT what you will need and does NOT do what you want it to. On the product page, it even says, "This cable functions as a signal transmitter, but NOT a signal converter." Cables like are not what you're looking for.

What you ARE looking for is this.

https://www.amazon.com/enKo-Component-Converter-Scaler-support/dp/B015RWVD4C

EDIT: Looks like you might actually need RCA.

Can't tell you if it's guaranteed to work or not but using one of these https://www.amazon.com/Kingston-microSDHC-Memory-Reader-FCR-MRG2/dp/B0028R3NCU/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=micro+sd+to+usb+2.0&qid=1562551840&s=gateway&sr=8-3 and the normal method should work fine

Really no other way that isn't extremely overly complicated. I recommend just buying a 2.0 USB thumb drive off amazon

u/ushono 路 1 pointr/PlaystationClassic

I use this one and it works great with second controller and the USB stick plugged to it : Amazon

My setup: PS Controller in Port 1 of the PSC. In the second Port the USB hub.

u/RockstarGTA6 路 1 pointr/PlaystationClassic

Just got this , problem solved , also I have 2 usb flashdrives and now when I switch I don鈥檛 need to unplug the power cord from the ps classic

I saw this posted here working great

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N336XEU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

u/Super-X2 路 0 pointsr/PlaystationClassic

No that's not it. It's definitely caused by unplugging it from the PSC, I ran a multitude of tests to verify.

I get this error sometimes, but it has never caused any real issues, I just let windows do the check and it has never had any problems.

The best thing you can do is let it sit for at least 10 seconds after the orange light comes on. I don't unplug the cable, never have. I have always used one of these and I much prefer it over unplugging the damn thing every time. https://www.amazon.com/NorthPada-Raspberry-Supply-Charger-Adapter/dp/B01N336XEU

u/Darragh_McG 路 1 pointr/PlaystationClassic

Right. I was hoping someone could link me to a hub thats known to work. You also have to factor in the distance between ports as the controller plug is quite wide.

I was looking at this one -- https://amzn.to/2Wci7od -- but I do have the Amazon Basics 3.0 hub and it doesn't work.

u/viral_dna 路 1 pointr/PlaystationClassic

I only used this one because I ran out of the Nano Hubs and I'm waiting for more to arrive. As for a source for this hub, I can't guarantee you would get the same board as they likely vary internally from their exterior appearance and I can't recall where I got this one. But it looks like this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002FFT8Z6

I'm working on designing my own custom hub for the PSC though.

u/A-Perfect-Tool 路 1 pointr/PlaystationClassic

Had this drive sitting in a drawer that I used and it worked without issue. Not sure if it鈥檚 worth the price anymore though.

u/Spexor 路 0 pointsr/PlaystationClassic

From everything I've read USB 3.0 is fine if you stay under 64gb. I followed a guide online and grabbed this one. I used a guide I found online and it worked for me.

u/manutdusa 路 2 pointsr/PlaystationClassic

You can also buy the 8BitDo wireless adapter for about $20, and use DS3/4.

u/MainHaze 路 4 pointsr/PlaystationClassic

I had bought one of these AmazonBasics 7 Port Powered Hubs a few years ago now. Tried it for the hell of it on my PSC. Works like a charm!

SanDisk 16GB 2.0 Cruzer Glide (SDCZ60-016G-B35)
Directly into Port 2
No Hard-modding
Confirmed to work with Bleemsync 1.01 as of this moment.
https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Flash-Cruzer-Glide-SDCZ60-016G-B35/dp/B007YX9O9O/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=sandisk+cruzer+glide+16gb&qid=1554479420&s=gateway&sr=8-1

u/DualCay0te 路 1 pointr/PlaystationClassic

That HDMI to AV converter you've linked to does not work with the PSC. It works fine for the NES and SNES Mini's but not on the PS Classic. You just get a black screen, no image.

Looking at the pic he posted of his TV, this will work.

And he can go one of two ways with that. He can connect it to the SCART connection at the back of his TV, or he can purchase this to connect to that HDMI to SCART (composite) converter and then connect it to the AV on his TV.

SANDISK Cruzer Glide Flash Drive 64GB USB 2.0 (via Target) worked for me without power mod or hub. I had it filled to about 32GB. I can't confirm if it works when filled past 32GB.

SanDisk 128GB Ultra Fit USB 3.1 Flash Drive - SDCZ430-128G-G46 (via Amazon) worked for me (without power mod or hub) when filled to about 32GB but stopped working when I added a ton of new games to it. Sorry, I'm not sure at what capacity it stopped working. I did the power mod on port #2 and now everything works flawlessly with this drive. I did not try it with a powered hub before doing the power mod.

In both of these cases, I'm running PSC Retroboot (standalone). I've never run Autobleem or Bleemsync.

FYI鈥擭one of my included links are affiliate links.

Edit: Also, I'm using this 5V 2.4A power supply.

I hate having the USB sticking out of the console all the time as well. I ended up buying one of these. It is very small and hard to notice. It almost looks like an empty controller port.

u/Deadly_Fire_Trap 路 2 pointsr/PlaystationClassic

Ah thats unfortunate. I hate to say this but you could buy an extension for the cable, or use an extension cord from the outlet

AmazonBasics USB 2.0 Extension Cable - A-Male to A-Female Adapter Cord - 9.8 Feet (3 Meters) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NH11PEY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_e0d7Cb5ZA5XPA

Fortunately they are cheap

I been doing this during xmas holiday. But my brand new USB key https://www.amazon.ca/Lexar-JumpDrive-64GB-Flash-Drive/dp/B00S5V5PEC just died after a month of using it in my PS classic. It had about 30 games on it. Sometimes it would just not boot from the key, so I had to power off, remove AC, put back key in, AC back on, retry, wouldnt work 50% of the time, or sometimes had to put in back in my PC to try to scan/fix the key. And the this week it simply died and wont even get ready by my PC. Are the games constantly running from the key ? It shouldnt be a problem right ? My RPI has way more hours (2 years+) running the games from an old key and still going. Wonder if others had premature key deaths using the PS1 classic bleem sync.

u/MoeFoh 路 2 pointsr/PlaystationClassic

Look for a cable that uses 24AWG on the power wires. Many use 28AWG, which are doomed to fail in high current situations.

You could try this OTG adapter instead of a cable.
