Expensive, too.

You can get nearly as good, much, much cheaper moldable plastic from amazon. You heat the little plastic beads with a hairdryer for a minute or so, and they are as malleable as rubber. As it cools, it sets to a hard plastic.

10 bucks got me something like 6 oz. A year later I've used maybe 2 oz, and saved headphones, a fence hinge, etc.

Friendly plastic melts in somewhat hot water. Ball up your weed inside three baggies, and coat it with the melty plastic. When it cools to 120F, it will reharden into solid, army man type plastic. Then you have a plastic ball with weed inside, that no one would suspect.
Here's another brand with diagrams and shit.

It's an amazing product and kids fucking love the shit out of it.
You can also completely ruin any keyhole with it, forever.

u/ccai · 10 pointsr/3Dprinting

Honestly I don't think it's a good idea to use 3d printing in this execution. Try this stuff. It's moldable at ~150F and is quite hard at room temperature, you can create a protective "shell helmet" for him by hand and mold it to fit. Without an accurate 3d scan or tons of pictures of Lumpy and the injury, it's going to be hard to get the proper angles and contour for the shell and it might take a bit too. The prototyping would be a pain in the ass to do as you can't instantly figure out the fit.

With Instamorph you can easily make adjustments to it as you go. Best part, when Lumpy is all better, you can remelt it down to be used for another project afterwards.

u/bluemoonmystic · 8 pointsr/somethingimade

It's Instamorph, moldable heat sensitive plastic. It is some amazing stuff.
Also, I used 9 LEDs total, copper wire, the plastic, a drain cover, some cardboard, and hot glue.
If someone wants some more detailed pics, I can do them when I make another one.

This is a special interest area of mine.

I spend time in noisy datacenters, in noisy aircraft (as a pilot, when I'm not
hacking), and in gyms working out to music. I spend a lot of time with stuff in
my ears. I like my Etymotic ER-6i earbuds. But MUCH more important than which
particular earbuds you use is how they fit your ear and hold well they seal the
noise out. And getting a good airtight seal is the key factor.

In my experience the absolute best way to go is with a custom made earpiece
from Avery Sound:

http://www.averysound.com/

When you place your order Avery will email you a lab order form to take to your
local audiologist for the ear mold telling them in medical terms exactly what
parts of the ear to make sure the mold covers. I went to a local audiologist
such as you might find at a hearing aid store and for $20 got left and right
molds made of my ears. That includes ear canal and outside detail. It was quick
and easy. Then I mailed those molds off to Avery. They used the same molds to
make me three different sets of earpieces which I acquired one by one over the
course of several months:

  1. Etymotic earbuds for music. Left and right. They fit great. The earbud just
pushes into a hole drilled into the flexible silicone-rubber-like (but not
actually silicone) material which has a hole in the other side for sound to
travel to the ear. Fits very securely. I couldn't make these things fall out if
I wanted to. And they seal out noise very well.

  2. I own a Clarity Aloft aviation headset which is earbud-style also. Much
lighter and more comfortable to wear than the great big ol' traditional
ear-muff Dave Clark style headsets. Avery made me molded earpieces to replace
the disposable crushable foam earplug style material that fits onto the earbud
drivers. Much easier to put in, cleaner, no need to buy new ones all the time,
and kills noise just as well.

  3. I have a Jawbone Prime bluetooth hands-free for my phone. It is a great
hands-free device except that none of the rubber bits fit my ear and it always
fell out. This was especially dangerous when driving. I know, I hate using the
phone when driving, but it has often been unavoidable if I want to keep my
customers happy. Now not only does it fit perfectly but the audio is louder
because less sound escapes through a poor seal. The Avery guys caution against
setting audio devices too loud due to the better seal.

So Avery Sound is the way to go. They generally make earpieces which attach to
devices for which they have already molded against. They can do custom if you
send them whatever it is you want molded against but that may cost extra, I
don't know. The only thing I might ask of them is that they make the earpieces
a little larger/thicker to block more sound. But their audiologist I spoke with
on the phone didn't seem to think this would make much difference. I wonder if
the material is expensive and they like to minimize quantity used in each
earpiece. The other thing to be careful of is that since they really do mold to
your ear and fit securely if your earbud wire catches on something it will rip
the earbud out of the hole in the earpiece which isn't good for either. So
secure the wires inside your shirt or something.

Some people like active noise cancelling headsets, especially for aviation. But
the way I see it they all work by cancelling noise in the space inside the
earcup. Earbuds have no earcup and no space. Just sound blocking material and
an audio driver closer to the eardrum so active noice cancellation would seem
to be unnecessary. Besides, I have two pairs of noise cancelling headsets after
using my earbuds I hate their bulk, discomfort (the headband often causes a
"hot spot" right on top of the head after about 4 hours), and having to worry
    about the batteries dying.

The only downside to Avery is that it was rather expensive: I paid $150 for my
Clarity Aloft earpiece set. The ER6i set was $135.00. And my Jawbone was
$79.00. All of these were tax writeoffs for me as business expenses, for
whatever difference that makes. These things seem likely to last for many
years and I've already gotten my money's worth. I've had my oldest (the
Jawbone) for three years now and it is as good as new.

I just snapped a quick pic with my phone:

    http://imgur.com/H3St8Wb

The Etymotic earbud earpieces are natural color. Sort of a translucent beige.
Color costs around $10 more. I think the colored earpieces (Jawbone and Aloft)
    do look nicer.

I have no stake in Avery. Just a satisfied customer. :)

I occasionally go shooting and I've been thinking about getting a set for
regular ear protection. I don't really want to pay Avery's price of $89 for
shooting ear protection though. Just a week ago I ordered a couple
do-it-yourself kits which are far cheaper:

    Radian:
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002C7ZQ58/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It looks like a two part epoxy dough type stuff you just mix up and then stick
in your ear and let it harden then pull out. Similar to that fix-it putty you
may have seen advertised on TV but doesn't stick to your skin. You can stick it
in your ear then push your earbud into the other side and then drill a sound
hole afterwards to make a custom mold for music earbuds. Various youtube videos
    on how this works here:
    https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=radian+ear+mold

    Instamorph plastic:
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003QKLJKQ/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Not made specifically for this purpose but has intriguing properties which may
lend itself well to making ear molds. Videos here:
    https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=instamorph+plastic

I haven't yet had a chance to play with either of these yet so I can't report
on how well these cheaper solutions work.

They come as plastic beads that you can melt in hot water and mold like clay. I primed it but didn't sand it because it takes paint pretty well as-is.

Edit: I just realized you asked which one. I used instamorph. You can get it here!

Not really 3D printing, but Instamorph would be a good way to model what you want, and may wind up being usable all on its own.

I dig the angle but hate paddling out not being able to breathe correctly. My solution- I used this to mold a mouth mount around the clip that also clips into the surfboard mount.

The result: Clip it in and paddle out with nothing in your mouth but air, then unclip it and hold it in your mouth when you catch a wave.

As far as holding on when you fall, I either grab it with my hand or just bite down ;) Missing teeth builds character, right?

Safety pins, hot glue, superglue, fabric glue, that fabric adhesive that you just iron, iron-on transfers for symbols/logos/etc., fray check. Did I mention safety pins? LOTS of safety pins. And lots of tea/coffee/other hot beverage.

Instamorph and other similar thermoplastics work really well for props and accessories, especially in a time crunch. It's easy to work with. You heat it in water on the stove, and by the time it's soft, it's cool enough to touch still and if you mess up, you just toss it back into the hot water. No baking or setting time required. It takes paint well if you sand it first and seal it, I've used clear nail polish in a pinch and it worked perfectly as a sealant.

I always make a bulleted list of things I need to do that I can just cross off as I go. It makes things seem less hectic and it calms me down and helps me focus. There's a sense you achieved something when you can cross things off.

u/bigchastity · 3 pointsr/chastity

Shape-lock plastic.

It's plastic you put in hot water, then mold to any shape you want, and it cools down to a hard, pretty strong, plastic. I use it to make the sharp edges of the lock, and the back side of the tube bracket smooth and rounded. Works like a charm. and is much better looking than the rubber bands everyone else seems to use.

If you put a big enough ball of it on the lock it can be challenging to get off. Not impossible, but also not 30 seconds. It can take several minutes of heating to get out of if it's a big enough lump. It's great for those of us who sometimes need a bit of additional self control.

Super strong moldable plastic pellets.

Heat, mold, and use within minutes. Reheat to remold again and again.

Great for all types of art, hobbies, prototypes, props, modeling, etc.

what grips are on the handlebars? i got a pair of oury grips over the summer and was surprised at how well the surface grabs whatever touches it. a more ergonomic grip might help too, or you might be able to make your own custom one with something like this.

no ideas for the gloves though, except maybe to turn it into an advantage -- like using the spare fingers for super-secret double-agent type storage

Could something like moldable plastic work? link

u/burke_no_sleeps · 1 pointr/fivenightsatfreddys

Would clothing work? Could someone create a custom t-shirt or blanket or w/e, and it would be allowable as long as they submitted all design docs as well as photo proof of a physical item? (Most folks are saying they don't have materials so I'm trying to think of the most accessible items possible -- fabric paint or iron-on transfer sheets are cheap..)

Decent sculpting / modelling clay can be found, 2oz for $7, on Amazon. You could make minis, or a set of pins, or various types of home decor, or a cup or plate..

Would posters be applicable? Many people here have stunning graphic arts skills. If they were able to create a physical poster using their own graphic -- get it printed at a local shop for example -- would that qualify?

Does food count? Could someone create a customized recipe and a mock-up package for "Freddy Fazbear's Pizza" or "Chica's Mr Cupcake", for example?

Could an existing item be customized to fit the FNaF theme, or does the product have to be created "from scratch"? For example, could I customize existing action figures into humanized FNaF characters, or would I have to build the figures themselves? (that's a terrible example but would be an awesome joke entry -- "FNaF Force, Fighting for Freedom!")

Are collaborations allowed? Could several people gather a "team" and have some folks working on design and others working on production?

Some other ideas, for those who might be stuck (I'm not saying these are good, just that they're options):

  • dress-up kits (Foxy's pirate hook and eye patch, Mr Cupcake and a headband with Chica's distinctive feathers, et cetera) -- either as alternative Halloween costumes, or as kid's roleplay toys

  • "ceramic" (painted clay) masks of Marionette, Ennard, Baby, similar to these; similarly, fabric dolls with 'ceramic' head and hands

  • an Easy Bake Oven branded for FFP - this is basically a mini convection oven, or a metal box constructed around a heat source (a high wattage light bulb, or an actual heating element). The hardest part, really, would be ensuring electrical connectivity to the heating element. You could build a small metal box with a hinged door, and salvage the rest from an old toaster or toaster oven.

  • makeup kits / bath kits with specific character themes (because making your own lip gloss, shampoo, or soap is fairly easy.. heck, even toothpaste.. mmm, pizza flavor)

  • customized nightlights or lamps: you could either remove the base of an existing lamp and re-create it in FNaF fashion, or (if mods say it's OK) use the existing base in your design. OR just re-design the lampshade. You could even design lampshade panels and then cut them to fit and attach them. Nightlights are even easier because you can easily create a flat design, make a mold, cast your design in plastic or even silicone, and then attach it to the base. Nightlight bulbs don't generate much heat so there's little concern of the design melting or catching fire, as long as it's made from adequate materials.

  • Slippers are the lovechild of plushies and socks. If you can make a plushie, you can probably make some comfy slippers..

  • similarly, does anyone here remember Pillow Pals? there's nine million modern clones with fuzzy animals. Craft projects don't get much easier: create a square for the body, attach some arms and feet (and for the Bons, some floppy ears), paint or embroider a face on it, ta daa. Distorted squishy bedtime friend.

  • the essential FNaF security guard's first aid kit. flashlight. bandaids. taser. energy shots. ya know. but branded!

  • a LEGO set that doesn't currently exist, but you wish it did.

  • FNaF winter gear: gloves, hats, scarves? a balaclava with the Puppet's face on it, or Crying Child?

(There isn't enough time to make it, but I'd love to see a custom line of beers / wines / alcohols for the stressed security guard. The joke being, Night One is a nice yummy drink to take the edge off, while Night Five is just a flask of the cheapest, strongest whiskey available.. could probably fuel a generator with it if you had to.. or start a fire..)

Finally, you can always check out sites like Instructables and, to a lesser degree, Pinterest.

You could also just browse your local department store and ask yourself "if this product was FNaF merch, how would it be different?" I mean.. everything is merchandised now. We're probably going to see a TON of it when the movie is finished. So predict what you think we'll see.

Just look up whatever it is you're interested in making, find the instructions that make sense to you and have materials you can obtain, and get going.

Yay congratulations for getting an awesome Christmas gift lol :D I wish all bosses were like that :D

Hmm let me share a few pictures/videos of items with you that you'd probably want to try out with me :D

A. Master Airbrush Kit

First of all, have fun with art using a Master Airbrush Kit :D When it comes to giving art such as drawings, sculptures, or any of your creations color, the airbrush excels at giving you total control of how light or how deep you want the color to be :D It allows you to give your work a beautiful subtle transition from one color to another :D Very easy to use, extremely fun for the whole family :D The price is also very affordable compared to other airbrush kits! The Master Airbrush kit from Amazon is only $79 and that already includes the airbrush itself, the air compressor, the hose, and everything necessary for it to work :D Normally, airbrush kits cost around $300 to $500, but fortunately the Master Airbrush kit is a very good and functional budget version that works just like the more expensive variants :D

Oh let me show you the airbrush in action... and a baker lady is using it on a cake instead of sculptures or paper or toys :D See how easy it is to control? It allows us to make a color go from light to deep, very great for those subtle changes from our artistic imagination :D

Here's another awesome cake airbrushing and cake creation, this time somebody's making a dog cake lol :D

Whether it's cake, sculptures, paper, or toys, a Master Airbrush kit is going to bring us a lot of joy as we paint our creations :D

B. Instamorph Moldable Plastic

Here's another fun item we can both try and explore :D It's called the Instamorph Moldable Plastic :D Basically, it's a bunch of plastic pellets that you can soften in hot water. When it's soft enough, you can then shape it into anything as if it's clay :D It will solidify again after a few minutes and it's very durable :D It's also reusable, so for example if you didn't like what you made, you can just put it back into the hot water and it will soften up again :D SO AWESOME! :D It's pretty affordable as well because it's less than $20 :D

You can use it to create little toys, accessories, or you can even use it to repair broken things at home! One reviewer on Amazon even said they used it to create a false tooth and it was functional and fitted him/her well lol :D

Here's a lady showing how Instamorph is used :D You can even use molds to shape it, so awesome and fun :D

Here's another video showing another brand all sorts stuff we can make with the material :D

Here's someone who actually made a fake tooth from the same material Instamorph is made of haha :D

We can create all sorts of fun stuff with it, let's grab some :D

C. Smooth On Silicone Mold Making Rubber Oomoo 30

Oh YES :D Since we're gonna create lots of fun stuff, we also need a way to create a mold so we can easily recreate our shapes without having to redo them from the very beginning :D Here's Smooth On Silicone Mold Making Rubber Oomoo 30 to help us with that :D Fortunately for such a useful item, it's normally around $25 to $30 and we can use this many many many times :)

This is possibly the most well loved mold making item that every fun loving creative person has :D Just mix the two parts, pour it on the item you want to make a mold out of, wait a couple hours and that's it :D

Here's a video of Smooth On in action making a mold out of an action figure :D So cool! :D Imagine all the items we can create with Instamorph, we can use Smooth On to make molds out of them and recreate them easily :D We can just push the soft Instamorph into the mold and we'll have the items we made once more :D

Of course, we can also make an item out of silicone so we can have some kind of soft stretchy item :D Look, some people make props using them... like horror gore hands lol :D

D. Bubble Head Nurse from Silent Hill 2

Let me welcome you to my beloved world of toys :D Here is something I like that you might also enjoy :D It's the Bubble Head Nurse from the horror game Silent Hill 2 :D

In the world of Silent Hill, the main character gets transported into an alternate world where scary creatures and the undead wander freely. One of them is the iconic sexy Bubble Head nurse. At first glance, you would notice her very attractive body from a distance as the shadows hide her face. As she gets nearer, you'll notice that she's holding a knife or a metal pipe, ready to lay the smackdown on you... and then you see her horrific face! OH MY LORD :O It's a zombie disfigured nurse!!! All the excitement that you might have had from your little nurse fantasy gets ruined and you remember that in a world made up of nightmares, there is only despair and dread :D

Here's a video review of the super sexy but scary Bubble Head Nurse :D

She'd be so fun to put on desks and all sorts of places haha :D She's really cute isn't she :D

E. Kenshin Himura from Rurouni Kenshin

This one's something very personal to me, but you might also like him once you learn who he is :D His name is Kenshin Himura from a show called Rurouni Kenshin aka Samurai X here in the USA :)

I really loved his show back during my teenage years. He has a very interesting story and he's just so awesome!

Kenshin Himura was a samurai used as an assassin by the Japanese government during the Meiji era. Anybody who opposed the Japanese government back then, Kenshin heartlessly killed. He really was the best and most skilled killer of the time.

One day, he was tasked to kill a person that the government wanted to get rid of. That person was supposed to get married to someone, so the two of them fought. All throughout Kenshin's career as an assassin, he was practically untouchable, until this moment when the opponent somehow managed to slash at his face to give him a scar in a last ditch attempt to survive so that he'll be able to marry the girl he loved. Kenshin finished him off, but suddenly, knowing that the person he killed was about to get married somehow affected him and he felt some guilt.

Later on, he met a girl whom he fell in love with named Tomoe. Her affections slowly transformed his ice cold killer's heart into a warmer human one that has become capable of giving value to people's lives. Unfortunately, it's later revealed that Tomoe's actually the fiancee of the previous person he assassinated and she was actually out for revenge with the help of an opposing group. Still, despite her original intent to avenge her first lover, she also fell in love with Kenshin as a person.

Tomoe revealed the group's plan to kill him, but the battle already started. Later on as Kenshin's being beaten up because he's unable to see clearly anymore and he was about to get killed, Tomoe stepped in the middle of the fight to grab the enemy's weapon, but Kenshin didn't know she was there and he stabbed right through her and the enemy. Tomoe sacrificed herself to save Kenshin, but in the end, she gave him another scar on his face as a symbollic message that he can repent for his past sins by never killing again and using his skills to help people instead.

From then on, Kenshin started wandering Japan, helping random people with their problems. He still uses his sword to fight, but he uses a modified sword with a blunt edge so that he'll only knock out the bad guys and not kill them. He also has become a friendlier and more cheerful person because of the positivity that Tomoe gave him and that's how Kenshin finally started making friends.

I really love the story of Kenshin because it tells us that even the worst person can change once he realizes the true value of his own life. If you learn to love yourself, then you will learn to love others. That is the core message of the Rurouni Kenshin series and it's very true.

Kenshin's story is very inspiring for many people because it tells us that there will always be hope even if you did some truly horrible things in your life, as long as you're prepared to take responsibility and contribute to society in a positive way. Even if you started out life as a very bad person who can't find happiness, once you open yourself up to others, you'll find beauty in this world and happiness as well.

Another plus is that the original opening theme song is awesome haha :)

Well that's it from me, have fun and thanks :D

Barely used much of the 12oz tub. Easy to work with and you can re-mold it if you damage it. Its locked tight on my board and isnt going anywhere.

Get creative! I might want to do an integrated nose guard/footstop.

If you are able to make it by hand, then InstaMorph (or a similar product) might be an option.

You would probably like this stuff: https://www.amazon.com/InstaMorph-Moldable-Plastic-12oz-White/dp/B003QKLJKQ

It comes in prill form and you just dump them in hot water until they turn clear and mash them together, mold it into whatever shape you want then dunk it in cold water. Once set its unbelievably strong and with just enough flex it's extremely hard to break. You can get it to stick to most plastics and some other surfaces if you heat it up with a lighter. It's also reusable, just reheat & remold.

You just can't use it for stuff that would get hot, like something that would go through a dishwasher or get left in a car. Also you can find generic versions of this thermoplastic which are a lot cheaper if you want to buy a lot but the small pack of instamorph I bought has lasted me years because you can just remelt it.

I followed this guide and made a chin mount for my Shoei GT-Air. You can substitute out the epoxy putty for something similiar like Instamorph or Sugru if you want. You can use 3M VHB 4991 Tape to stick it on. It's the same stuff Go Pro uses.

I can't help you find the mask, but you can use some oil based clay to make the form (not hard to do) then some moldable plastic. If the moldable plastic causes the clay to misshape you can use plaster of paris to make a mold from the clay form and then use this to make the mask out of the plastic.

woah very cool. Can you soften it again by placing it back in hot water? And how are you planning on powering the new camera since you wont be able to use the 5V out from the vtx anymore?

Looks like it called instamorph here in the states. Looks like very cool product. So you just pushed and molded it around the fatshark camera? Do you have any kind of glue between the polymorph and the camera mount from the frame?

Make your own hardware.

  1. Spray some WD40 on the threads of your bassinet.
  2. Heat the plastic according to the directions.
  3. Squeeze and press the plastic into the threads using enough plastic to create a reasonable sized "nut". Use more plastic than you think you'll need. Don't worry too much about making it look pretty; you can worry about that later. Make sure you press it into the threads as much as possible.
  4. Let it cool and harden.
  5. Unscrew it from the bassinet. The WD40 should allow it to come off easily.
  6. Trim it to size using a Dremel, hand saw, etc. Cut at least two flat faces that you can use to grip as you tighten it. Sand it smooth.
  7. Clean and assemble.
