> I don't need a $230 256GB microSD

The cheapest Samsung microSD with 256 GB is only 140 Dollar on Amazon.com: https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-microSDXC-Adapter-MB-MC256DA-AM/dp/B01JNGCWHU/

Given that Samsung produces them inhouse and that they are mostly that expensive because of the novelty factor this is even with the cam or charger more of a 100 Dollar off deal.

How you and the people that upvoted think that the extras justifying a price drop of probably +550 Dollar is beyond me...

Edit: I'll say that BestBuy's prices on Micro SD cards are normally pretty brutal. Even on there "sales" always make sure to compare with other websites or at least Amazon.

>That memory card alone is $200

It's actually $160 right now, and has been as low as $130 recently. The 128GB version is under $50.

$99 was an absolute steal, but I wouldn't write off the card as a standalone purchase.

It was $100 January 13th, never been lower (on Amazon.) Who's to say when it'll drop again. It's been awhile though, maybe soon.

SanDisk was just $116 on Wednesday. https://camelcamelcamel.com/SanDisk-Ultra-MicroSDXC-Adapter-SDSQUNI-256G-GN6MA/product/B01IC0GJKE

????????????

Just buy it directly?

They're always marked up many times above their actual market value if you buy them as 'xyz system memory cards' instead of as regular microsd cards. Exact same thing.

u/S3w3ll · 4 pointsr/newzealand

Let's be fair and do a like for like comparison:

https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-256GB-EVO-UHS-I-microSDXC/dp/B01JNGCWHU/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1484871306&sr=8-2&keywords=256+sd+card+evo

US$149 = NZ$207

But it doesn't ship to NZ, so add $12.50 for Youshop

Save yourself NZ$67 (when on sale in NZ and not in USA) by buying off Amazon.

RIP NZ.

I'll be so livid if they reject the claim because I swapped out a defective unit after submitting for the promo.

The manager at the Best Buy said he would ensure I got a headset if that happens. I will expect a memory card at a reduced cost with that, but to be honest, after looking into it more, I can get the Samsung card for between $120 and $145 on Amazon usually, the $99 isn't that big a deal for me. I was in it more for the card than anything. He also said he'd waive the restocking fee if I get rejected and still want to reject Samsung.

FWIW, I have been using Samsung EVO Plus 256gb cards without a problem in my Hero6's at 4k60. So... ¯\(ツ)https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01JNGCWHU

legit yes it's a Samsung https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01JNGCWHU/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1501622183&sr=8-2&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=256gb+micro+sd+card

tested.. well I did see if uma0 worked and it did. but as far as using it normally before..
nope. I bought it. tried uma0 that was all. nothing previous

Read speed wise, most microSD cards are comparable so if that's your only concern, the 200gb SanDisk Ultra is your best bet. If you care at all about write speed, you should look elsewhere. Also, be wary of UHS-II spec cards that claim 150mbps read speed (along with a laughable 20mbps write) that require an adapter to achieve such speeds such as this one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00U77V5KU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_ep_dp_5BxzybEV9MBMT

If you're looking for the best microSD hands down, it's the Samsung 256gb EVO+. MSRP is $249 and Amazon has it for $139. Quite the bargain. A ton are in the wild considering that many people such as myself chose this as the freebie for purchasing a Note7 (or S7/S7 edge). https://smile.amazon.com/Samsung-256GB-EVO-UHS-I-microSDXC/dp/B01JNGCWHU/ref=sr_1_6?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1483139819&sr=1-6&keywords=evo%2B+256

If you're looking to spend a bit less and can do with half the storage, the Samsung 128gb PRO Select is your next best bet. https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01DOB6YUQ?ref=emc_b_5_t

Both of those cards are rated at 90mbps write and read with real life usage hitting within a couple mbps of that.

u/zook388 · 2 pointsr/tmobile

I keep seeing these numbers but they are totally wrong.

Micro SD Card - ~$150

Headphones - ~$120

Gear VR - New one with remote is not for sale yet, but given they are giving them away to all pre-orders, market value will be much lower than $129.

that's the one i got for free from Samsung when I preorder the note 7 and its very fast.

>And you've got to start carrying around multiple micro sd cards. I eagerly anticipate the day I lose those.

  1. You're not going to lose your MicroSD cards if you keep them in a case, like this.
  2. With the average size of Switch games, I doubt most people are going to be needing more than 128 GB storage over the life of the console, anyway. In fact, assuming that most people will buy physical cartridges for retail games, storage space is then mainly only used for DLC and indie titles on the eShop.
  3. I'm just trying to suggest a way to save money. If you want to pay $150 for a 256 GB, by all means. Nothing's stopping you.
u/ToxicMufffin · 1 pointr/Dashcam

I've been using this SanDisk 128GB card for the last year or so without any issues. My sister got me this Samsung 128GB card for Christmas last year as a backup card, and every time I try and use it I have nothing but problems. The camera (650S-2CH) continuously exclaims, "Check SD card," every five seconds after the first video tries to save.

I've been looking to upgrade to a 256GB card because since I drive 100+ miles per day and can only capture about a weeks' worth of footage. Is this the Samsung card you're talking about? I just don't want to get the wrong one.

u/xeronut · 1 pointr/gpdxd

200GB and 256GB cards work in the XD - I use this one in my black 32GB unit without issue. It does take a bit longer to boot up with all the data I have on it (full ROMsets, scads of ISOs, a few Android games) but it does work well.

For extra storage a fast Micro SD card like a Samsung EVO+ or Evo Select is a good choice. For reference, check other sources for availability and pricing.

There are also small USB SSDs available ...

This is the one that comes with the S8 (at least I am pretty sure). Only one picture that has speed, and the read/write looked like it maxed at 92/85. One review mentioned around mentioned 82/74, another said 85/72.

I saw one review that mentioned this generation had better read/write than older ones, so your opinion might be based on previous generations of the card?

edit: I would test it myself, but I honestly wouldn't trust my SD card hub plugged into a USB hub plugged into my PC to be the best test bench.

This one does not have Class 10. Should I avoid this one?

I edited this one after, but I guess you missed the edit.

Which is nearly the same price as the new gear VR

Still not a ridiculous request.

After a lot more research, realized I need to get microSDXC with U3 with UHS-1. It's pretty rare but seems to be the fastest.

Great Performance in Action Cameras, DSLRs, High-End Smartphones, and Tablet PCs

Sandisk and Samsung are reliable brands.
512GB Micro SD cards are kinda scarce, and very expensive, mind you.
Here's a 256GB one from Samsung

u/azngamer101 · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

Going with a 256gb card I like my storage. Im hoping somehow we can connect an external hard drive to the switch like you could with the wii.
