Two tips for your WRX mate:

1. Perrin shifter stop. It'll make shifting so much better feeling. It eliminates the shifter gate slop that's prevalent from the factory.

2.. If you aren't worried about tuning, a tune goes a hell of a long way in these cars. It literally made a night and day difference in the way mine drives. The throttle-by-wire system in the WRX is very touchy in stock form. 30% throttle pretty much equals 100%. Tuning eliminates that, and gives you a natural pedal travel. Not to mention the stock tune is just junk.

Anyways, have fun, and welcome to the Subaru family!

The only reason I link these are because they interlock. other companies use a glorified flat washer that's a little awkward to keep together while installing(helped a buddy install a set of em). These steeda ones are just easier.

These are what I bought. Excellent machining, easy install but the Mountune ones are essentially the same thing. Pick between the two depending on who's sticker you want.

I didn't have mine that long before I changed it. So I never experienced it.

If you're interested in changing out your shift knob. These are the pages I used as reference.

https://www.accordxclub.com/threads/my-2018-honda-accord-2-0t-manual.1914/

https://www.accordxclub.com/threads/changing-the-gear-shift-knob.1012/

You'll need a new shift boot collar otherwise the boot will just sag and not made with the new knob you buy.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BM21ZN3/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Also comes in black.

A 10 x 1.5 threaded knob is what you'll need. Mine does not spin (now). If it did, I could probably use some loctite on the thread to prevent it from spinning.

sorry for formatting I'm in mobile. I have this one in my 2016 wrx and it works fantastic, it's a part that saving a few bucks on is not going to injure your car.

If you are going to play ETS2 or ATS, get an SKRS. This is the one I use, and it is amazing. Pricey, sure; But it is amazing quality, and it really adds to the experience: https://www.amazon.com/Shifter-Replacement-Logitech-Thrustmaster-EasyJakeBrake-Windows/dp/B07DVW2WYK/ref=sr_1_16?keywords=skrs&qid=1573415326&sr=8-16

Just ordered a shift stopper from unknown china company on amazon and popped that bad boy in after about 30 minutes and two small adjustments, wish I did this waaaaay earlier like when I got the car...it’s similar in design, build etc to perrin’s shift stopper but I’m a cheap bastard — it was cheap and worked great on my 2018 wrx base. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BQH23K7/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_LyBvCb0VXG5ZM very easy install just take your time as some of the hardware you will remove and reattach is super tiny and if I didn’t leave a Home Depot receipt under the shifter linkage I’d have lost a nut twice lol. Good luck on choosing a short shifter kit I know kartboy and several other guys make em!

Originally I had planned to do a shifter rebuild today. I had a few of the OEM Bushing, but cut a corner somewhere and got this Doorman shifter rebuild kit from Amazon. And it didn't work the moment I took it out of the box. turret bushing and others weren't the same.

So I had this MiataRoadster shifter that I bought during the Christmas sale. I wasn't planning on putting it on today, but since I already took off my shifter. I went ahead and installed it. Installation should be straightforward. Just follow this guide it will help.

As for the Pros and Cons. The quality is really nice, throws are super short it took me a minute to get use to it, and to be honest I'm still not use it to it yet. You'll probably be laughing at how crazy fast you shift now. Only did a quick night run with it a few hours ago so not much else to say really.

Cons. I would say it's stiffer than stock. Even though the throws are shorter I was thinking that there would be less work involved, and sometimes I feel like I have to force it in gear? Not sure if there's any break it process and if it gets any better. Also, another con, this may only pertain to me, but I'll just throw it out there. It was difficult for me to downshift into 1st gear. Again, not sure if that was my error, but it happened a few times were I had to shift back to neutral from 2nd in order to get into 1st.

I got both the bushing and shift stop from Amazon due to prime and cheaper price.

The Invidia R400 is louder at cold starts and its a deep sound. At idle, it sounds stock. Below 2.5k rpm is not too loud and but does get louder at higher rpms. I do love the deep bass sound. I typically try to shift below 3k rpm when leaving my Apt community in the morning. Wife says her 18 Stock Mustang 5.0 is still louder :/

I don’t know if any speedometer color changes you might have to remove the whole panel and switch out the led lights for maybe a colored on or RGB lights but again, i’m not familiar with this.

I use this memory foam seat belt pad (distributes force over wider area)

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00RPVVR2W

This arm riser, though there are many others:

And a product called "Elbow Friend" for the door armrests.

Yup! You get the “teeth grinding” feeling. Buy one of these:

PERRIN Shifter Stop Compatible with Subaru WRX 2015-2017 and 2018-19 WRX with OEM Short Shifter https://www.amazon.com/dp/B019D8RK5W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_ORxKDbZWJJYPF

Very easy install. It def helps but doesn’t eliminate it entirely. It really tightens up the shifting. Also, get yourself a weighted shift knob (400 grams +) and that will also help!

Edit: adding link to install vid that I used. Hope this helps!

I just bought a new 13' manual R/T. I managed to talk them down a grand or two. But with you targeting a used R/T I think it will differ heavily on the person you are dealing with, and the condition of the car. Whether it be a dealership or private owner.

As for the shifter, I purchased this mopar brushed aluminum shifter. And I couldn't be happier with it. In my opinion its a lot more comfortable than the original, and it's quite easy to install. I can take some pictures of it if you'd like.

Yes.. Dorman makes an upgraded part. Easy to change once the shifter is out. There's youtube videos out there on how.

Yes it is, you replace it with a good aftermarket one like this one. I also have this in my 02 GT. Shorter shifts, tighter feel, and much better springs.
