I'm gonna give you a straight answer. These are stuff I got when i went from 35k to 75k.

  1. Roomba if you already don't have one. Get the 960 at least. use the always available 20% off coupon from bedbathbeyond.com
  2. A decent new shower head if the one in your apartment is crappy. While in the bathroom get those inverted soap pumps you can attach on the wall. also recommend: curved shower curtain and new decent towels like from frontage.
  3. I see you are on bulking diet so a good chef knife if you dont have one already and a sous vide if your diet involves lot of meat cooking.
  4. All TVs have crappy built in sound, get a decent soundbar.
  5. I had a shitty cat litter box, got the really nice modkat litter box. It ended up actual being easier to clean and maintian compared to my old one that was shoved instead a end table type furniture.
  6. I love to cook, but hate using the big oven, so I got a smaller toaster oven from breville and use the big oven for storage of pots and pans.
  7. Get those under bed, motion sensing light-sensitive led strips, I wake up and not stepping on my cat thanks to it.

OP, just a suggestion, but do what I did and get one of these to put behind it and leave that one in the bath, then you can leave the other one free to hang outside the bath and look cooler.

I don't take issue with manufacturing being in China. I just don't believe in buying the same generic item and slapping your private label on it and pretend its yours. Just type in Shower Curtain Rings on Amazon and look at all the same shower curtain rings with a different private label.

Amazon is still manufacturing in China but they are working with the manufacturer to make the product to the specifics they want. To me that extra effort goes a long way.

> In fact, in reality, many triggers are completely unrelated to the actual thing being discussed.

Huh. That explains why this is my trigger. No joke. Only seems to bother me seeing/using it in person though. I always thought this mostly unrelated item meant I was weird.

I use these dispensers in my shower. I hate looking at bottles. The only bottle in our shower is face wash and it sits on top of one of the lids to this.

If you're talking about the liner, I highly recommend an antibacterial liner. They practically never grow mold.

Toilet Plunger - Not a sink plunger
Zip Stick Drain Opener

In our last apartment we paid electricity, and had electric heat. The windows were drafty as heck. In hindsight, I wish I had taken the 30 minutes and $10 to apply some simple weather stripping.

Rubber stamp carousels can work for both razors and brushes. Folks also use test tube racks for razors. Personally I have a couple of these toothbrush racks on the mirror right behind my bathroom faucet. I love that it uses no counter space at all and uses space that would otherwise be dead.

Get one of this style of plunger. Put it in the toilet, slowly push down to collapse the plunger then allow the plunger to expand to fill with water. Then quick push down on the plunger to force the filled bellows to push water down the drain. If the clog doesn't clear after you do this two or three tries you have bigger troubles, call a plumber.

Also you could bring a pocket shower. I love mine and it isn't a waste of weight because I also use it as my food bag and bear bag. It is barely heavier than a normal dry bag and yet doubles as a shower or water carrier you can use anywhere!

u/McFeely_Smackup · 4 pointsr/lifehacks

I use one of these in my shower.

Shampoo-body wash-shaving lotion

If you use body wash, it really is a lot more convenient than having to pick up the bottle and reload the brillo pad every few seconds. The rest...meh, it was more of "in for a penny, in for a pound". Plus my wife uses so many different products that there's no place to put my stuff.

You don't want floor stands. They are ugly and flimsy and take too much room. What you want is some shower curtain rods. The tension mount kind. Install them vertically between floor and ceiling, then use camera mounts to hold the lighthouses. Temporary yet sturdy, they take up only one square inch of floor space, and can even be attractive if you get a style that matches your decor.

Personally I use these rods with these camera mounts. I've used them in four different apartments and they worked perfectly every time, even with high ceilings. In fact, I've started using them to mount other things like security cameras as well.

u/Reddywhipt · 3 pointsr/Plumbing

I don't know plumbing... but if it pushed it 25' further down the line, I'd think it would be pushed into the main house drain, and the rest of the house wouldn't be draining anymore.

Yes, I tried plunging the hell out of it using one of these. Didn't seem to help, but it was also blowing back through the second drain in the laundry room sink (double).

u/Ass_Explosion · 3 pointsr/Plumbing

Here is a good example of an appropriate curtain rod:

Two things to do:

Boil several pots of hot water, pour them down one at a time to melt the obstruction.

Second, get a specific type of plunger. All the rest are bollocks and utterly useless, etc. etc.

Sounds like fun! I'll have to do this later

1.) Something that is grey: Pelican Gray Nail Polish. (on private WL)

2.) Something reminiscent of rain: Shower Curtain is a barrier between the bathroom tiles and cascading, rain-like, waterfall that flows from the showerhead. (on dream WL)

3.) Something food related that is unusual: Candy Mold. Chocolate frogs, anyone? (on under $5 WL)

4.) Something on your list that is for someone other than yourself. Tell me who it's for and why. (Yes, pets count!): Ice Cream Maker. No ice cream for me because I started keto last week. My friends and family would benefit from this when I make them some delicious ice cream. (on dream WL)

5.) A book I should read! I am an avid reader, so take your best shot and tell me why I need to read it!: The Knife of Never Letting Go. It's book one of the Chaos Walking trilogy, which has rave reviews. Apparently it's a dark, dystopian book full of suspense. (on high priority WL)

6.) An item that is less than a dollar, including shipping... that is not jewelry, nail polish, and or hair related!: Laser Finger Beams (not on WL)

7.) Something related to cats. I love cats! (keep this SFW, you know who you are...): Westside Warrior Nail Polish. Lions, which are really big cats, are warriors of the jungle. (on under $5 WL)

8.) Something that is not useful, but so beautiful you must have it: Origami Star Paper. I like folding these, but once I make them into stars, I literally have nothing to do with them. There's jars of them all across my house and all I can do is look at them (on under $5 WL)

9.) A movie everyone should watch at least once in their life. Why?: Song from Iron Man 3 Soundtrack. Everyone should see it because Iron Man + Tony Stark + RDJ = <3 (on digital WL)

10.) Something that would be useful when the zombies attack. Explain.: Spin-the-shot. If zombies attack, I would need to be drunk, so this would come in handy for some last minute fun before I turn into a brain eating zombie. Let's face it, I'm not surviving a zombie attack... (on $5-$10 WL)

11.) Something that would have a profound impact on your life and help you to achieve your current goals: Coconut Oil. Everyone on the keto subreddit raves about this stuff. Being a newbie to this lifestyle, I feel that if so many people had great results using this oil, that it would help with my goals. (on $11-$25 WL)

12.) One of those pesky Add-On items: Anti-stress face mask (not surprisingly, found on my add-on WL)

13.) The most expensive thing on your list. Your dream item. Why?: Globe Bar. I would feel like a super cool James Bond-esque spy who would have a secret room hidden behind a bookshelf. Plus I love alcohol and globes. (on dream WL)

14.) Something bigger than a bread box: Desk Easel. (on $11-25 WL)

15.) Something smaller than a golf ball: Earrings. (on private WL)

16.) Something that smells wonderful: Pink Punch Baby Lips (on add-ons WL)

17.) A (SFW) toy: Kindle. I would consider this a techie toy. (on dream WL)

18.) Something that would be helpful for going back to school: Fun Colored Pens. (on add-on WL)

19.) Something related to your current obsession, whatever that may be: Paints. My current obsession is painting! (on $11-25 WL)

20.) Something that is just so amazing and awe-inspiring that I simply must see it. Explain why it is so grand: Mug. I love love love this literature mug. I not only love the varying typography all over it, but I think that there are some really striking first lines of literature. (on $11-25 WL)

BONUS

1.) Real name: PM sent

2.) Made in Oregon: Handwarmer Mug

Edit: raffle phrase - fear cuts deeper than swords

I store my Muhle silvertip synthetic brush and soap container on the top shelf of my shower caddy and my razors on the other on the other end of the tub higher up on the wall using a tooth brush holder like [this] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000SQPEZW/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) right next to a fog free mirror also held by a suction cup. Works great, no rust issues on the Weber or Edwin Jagger DE86bl/Maggard MR6B frankenrazor. Some rust issues on the ikon standard head, but that's because it really hugs the blade close and has no openings in the base plate to air it out.

Rubber jar grippers. You can also usually find them at the dollar store. Research university biosafety EHS person here. These would be legal in most all our labs because you can spray them down to decontaminate them with whatever cleaner you're approved to use in your lab.

Purchase a solar powered backpacking shower. It uses a black bag to attract sunlight to heat the water, and gravity allows the water to come out. I've never used one but I've heard good things about it and plan to purchase this model once we have more storage space.

ok, so may be weird but I just finish my own shower, get Cruiser and give him his shower. I know I am gonna get soaked so why not give in to the inevitable? Being in the closed curtain with him means he doesn't freak and he really does believe the curtain is some kind of impenetrable barrier. I am glad of that. The one gadget that has helped is I have a hand held shower head but because I am leaning over to wet him down and later rinse him off, I installed this suction mount at a lower height so it can hold the shower head in easy reach while I lather him up.http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001CFACMI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Its surprising some of the things you find out that you need after you move in.

  1. Trashcan

  2. Can opener... I had to get really creative one night trying to open a can

  3. Flash Drive with high storage

  4. Mirror

  5. A nice rug

  6. Shower Caddy or if you have communal bathrooms portable shower caddy

  7. Command Hooks and tabs

  8. Over the door hooks

  9. Desk Calendar/planner

  10. A few cheap dishes and flatware for microwave meals

AND A FISHY TO BE YOUR FRIEND!

These are just a few things. I just graduated college and I will never again underestimate the necessity of duct tape and a plunger :P

EDIT: Would you like a falafel with that?
u/aydoubleyou · 2 pointsr/Coachella

Seems like you already have your shower situation figured out, but I prefer the pocket shower. Just hang it from your canopy or bike racks on a tall car. Don't let the size fool you, it holds more water than it appears to.

u/particle409 · 2 pointsr/Plumbing

No need to scoop out shit water. As others have said, get a snake or toilet auger. Home Depot sells a cheap toilet auger for $10. It's only 3 feet long, but it should do the trick. Also, what kind of plunger are you using? People often use the wrong kind of plunger, which doesn't seal correctly. I like the beehive style, it seals best:

http://www.amazon.com/Korky-99-4A-Performance-Plunger-Small/dp/B00GRTD942/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1457766676&sr=8-1&keywords=beehive+plunger

u/River_Ro · 1 pointr/Indiemakeupandmore

Wow I am so late on this! Sorry, if you're still interested I was finally able to take a bath last night after receiving this stuff.

I purchased this drain stopper and this overflow cover Together they worked very well together & allowed me to fill my bath probably another 3 inches or so. My bath is fairly old in my apartment & without the drain cover it drains (very slowly) but let's say I'm taking just a 20-30 minute bath, it will be less than half full by the time I'm finished.

I had really bad luck last night - I guess I chose to take a bath when everyone in my building decided to run their dishwasher & do laundry & whatever else so I had 0 hot water & really didn't feel like sitting in lukewarm water forever. I feel like the overflow cover would have allowed me to fill up even farther which would have been nice.

Coupled with some candles & a bath pillow & it would be a perfect bath. I really recommend them. Also for as cheap as the items were they seem pretty durable & with proper care I would say they would last quite a while.

u/oberonbarimen · 1 pointr/pics

I know you already have three, but I would like to recommend a master plunger. If used properly they beat any regular toilet plunger. Compress slowly and usually you only need to use short strokes but most of the time you can compress and then pull out and you're good to go. You can get them at the hardware store and not just online. I never end up with wet floors. They are worth it if you end up having a difficult toilet in the future. Saved me from calling the plumber a billion times.

u/autarky1 · 1 pointr/HomeImprovement

I also suggest getting a shower liner and something that seals the liner against the side of the tub.

I recommend getting a proper mounting solution for the base stations.
I got two telescopic bars (is this the right wording? I'm German...) and smallrig v2 clamps and this is doing it's job pretty fine. It's an additional cost but afterwards you're pretty flexible in positioning you're base stations.

Okay, so picture this: You're alone in a cabin in the woods. You decide to take a shower. You can't hear the squeak of the door over the water running. It's a masked serial killer just like in the movies! You turn the water off and peak out, but you see nothing. You turn it back on, continue to shower, when he sneaks into the bathroom with his weapon of choice: a hammer. He attacks, leaving you bleeding in the tub, surrounded by water and a bloody shower curtain.

The director yells cut, tells everyone that's a wrap, and a few weeks later you get to see yourself as one of the main stars of the new horror movie! And it all relates back to a squeaky hammer!

I used to fart huge farty farts, crap huge crappy craps, and regularly clog the toilet -- to the extent that I got very quick at getting the lid off and closing the flush valve before the bowl overflowed. Indeed, at one point I had to go buy a more powerful plunger because the usual kind didn't work well enough.

Then I started eating more vegetables and fiber and less gluey refined starch and fatty burgers and such. I don't clog toilets any more.

It's not going to pressurize the water beyond what gravity provides, but it's only 4 ounces and works pretty well.
