That (actually steel) 3LB can of gound coffee from Costco is great in a shitty drip machine. makes great go juice for the morning.

Plus, afterwards, you have leftover steel coffee cans! they're so useful!

Interestingly enough, I can find it on Amazon.

Watch the ibrik closely when on the stove.

As the sides start to roll and bubble slightly toward the center, pull it off the heat.
Let it settle, and put it back on the heat, watch till it starts to roll and bulge on the sides, then remove again.
Repeat this a couple times and remove and let sit a couple mins to settle grounds.

If you let the coffee boil up and “break the surface” it will kill your crema.

Pick yourself up some Kurukahveci Mehmet Efendi brand coffee!

Mount Hagen has a pretty good instant coffee that I used to drink a lot.

I keep coffee beans in stock for myself but very rarely does anyone partake. Maybe because I am in a Beach Resort area, virtually all of my guests are millennial couples. They almost all go for K-Cups so I keep a couple boxes of these in stock.

Another big winner is the investment I made in bedside charging stations. 2 Apple Lightning Cables, 2 micro USB cables and an Apple Watch charger all organized on the nightstand. As the father of two 20-something’s, I can tell you from firsthand experience they have trouble sleeping if their phone is more than 3 feet away. /S. Keeping up with multiple charging cables and USB adaptors is a pain when I’m traveling so I try to make sure they don’t have to take theirs out of their luggage.

u/fieFIfo-um · 3 pointsr/financialindependence

I drink a lot of instant. Mainly because I use coffee as a milk-flavoring for my morning cup :)

I've been living on Cafe Bustelo Instant espresso for a month now. It is a perfectly palatable instant, and way better than Nescafe Taster's choice.

If you want a little (a lot?) more expensive look for Nescafe Gold and Davidoff Cuvee. Expensive for instant coffee but damn it's delicious!

Or maybe I am just showing my coffee-illiteracy :P

They have a bunch of premium roasts. They are either French Press or Siphon. The $28 is Blue Mountain beans from Jamaica. it's $46 for 1 pound on amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Jamaica-Blue-Mountain-Certified-Roasted/dp/B000F9FHDQ

So there are 2 kinds of Nespresso pods, the original line and the vertuoline. The vertuoline is still patented and you can only get it from Nespresso. There are lots of suppliers for the original line devices like so:

Try Cafe Cubano from Mayorga Organics. I like it better than Bustelo and it's organic and fair trade.

Turkish here.

Buy this brand of coffee : https://www.amazon.com/Kurukahveci-Mehmet-Efendi-Turkish-Coffee/dp/B000CMFKNS/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1527586354&sr=8-1&keywords=kurukahveci+mehmet+efendi+turkish+coffee

And get one of these : https://www.amazon.com/Beko-Turkish-Coffee-Machine-Elegant/dp/B01FV1EXM8/ref=sr_1_1?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1527586377&sr=1-1&keywords=arcelik+turkish+coffee+maker

This takes out all the guesswork out of making Turkish coffee and its not like a nespresso vs real espresso experience. Most coffee shops here in Turkey now use these machines (its not some water heater, I work with the company that produces these - Arcelik, huge home appliance maker, and this device has like 19 patents on it. They literally found the best coffee making people in Istanbul, analyzed their cofee making process, from the amount of stirrings to the speed the water heats etc and basically replicated the average).

I'm guessing all the coffee shops recommended here are also using these. Most turkish homes that have regular coffee have these now (they've been around for 7-8 years now and are hugely popular).

This coffee maker with some kurukahveci mehmet efendi coffee is my go-to gift for visiting foreign friends and they always ask for more coffee after they run out.

u/TheGreenGoo · 2 pointsr/gatekeeping

If you're willing to overpay for instant coffee, this stuff (Mount Hagen brand) is pretty good for instant. Additionally, the Starbucks via stuff is alright but also very overpriced.

u/LaLocaChristina · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Ok, so first off I am not entering but wanted to share a crazy coffee related product: Black Blood of the Earth!

Here is the mad scientist that is behind its story. Basically it is extracted coffee. It has all the flavor notes of coffee without any of the bitterness and is super caffeinated. Personally I like the darker versions because they have a much stronger taste. My favorite is actually Death Wish but you can't drink much because it is really strong.

Clearly I specifically have a caffeine problem but if you are looking for bean recommendations try Kicking Horse, 454 Horse Power

I used to buy Starbucks from the grocery store but I've never liked supporting them as a business, it was just what was available. I did some research on better coffee and I've grown to really like Kicking Horse Coffee. Even more when I found out they started out as a small business and still treat their employees really well now that they've been expanding.

u/WhiskeyandKittens · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Just get a nice medium Arabica roast, nothing fancy. Grind it super fine till it's like powdered sugar. You can put some cardamom in there, maybe somewhere around 5g cardamom powder per 100g ground coffee. I usually eyeball it to be honest so my numbers might be off. In some places, they add some extra stuff like cinnamon, nutmeg etc. to the mix, you can experiment with spices to see what you prefer. I personally might add cardamom but most of the time I don't add anything.

If you wanna skip all that and get some ready-made stuff. Try [this](https://www.amazon.arabiccom/gp/product/B000CMFKNS/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B000CMFKNS&linkCode=as2&arabic coffee=foolplivin-20&linkId=46d02820e758ce2411961af9b495aa0f&th=1).

I've been experimenting with home roasting these single origin beans for past couple weeks. I think I've finally dialed in the appropriate roast and grind size to bring out the flavors I like, and have been enjoying the coffee ok, but i still find it a little bland. Seems to be best brewed 1-2 wks after roasting. I'd prefer to have a bean with more of a nutty flavor, can anyone recommend a raw bean to try ?

u/Aerim · 2 pointsr/JapanTravel

If you're an American, Suntory now sells Boss Black on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/BOSS-COFFEE-Suntory-Japanese-Original/dp/B07PMNR4FR/

You don't have to buy anything in bulk on Amazon. Here is one single brick of Bustelo with free shipping if you have Prime- http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00I8GA6O8?keywords=bustelo%20coffee&qid=1450372208&ref_=sr_1_2&sr=8-2

I've been really happy with Cafe Bustelo. Recently started using their Instant Espresso when I didn't have access to a coffee maker. Now I prefer it for a quick drink in the morning. Makes excellent iced coffee as well. Big Lots has been carrying this (and their espresso grind) so you can pick them up pretty cheap.

PS since it went completely over your head, I was calling out your irrelevant point about the higher cost of higher quality produce because you eat empty calorie trash.

u/MikeWaz0wski · 1 pointr/Coffee

For getting my daily caffeine fix, I like Kicking Horse 454 Horsepower via Amazon Subscription

It's not always the freshest beans, but the $/lb is ok and has good flavor. I make this daily, mix with a bit of heavy cream to drop some of the bitterness, and get good dose of caffeine with one cup.

I usually buy a small bag or two of fresh-roast local beans to make in my Aeropress when I really want to savor the brew process and flavor ... or make cold-brew.

u/zeCrazyEye · 1 pointr/news

I was looking at some Starbucks Espresso and the reviews showed multiple people who received cans that just had sludge inside or were absolutely covered in maggots. https://www.amazon.com/Starbucks-Doubleshot-Espresso-Cream-Fluid/dp/B00DS4Q1IK#CustomerImages

Decided not to order anything but dry goods or canned goods if I'm going to bother ordering from them, definitely not anything that goes rancid.

But honestly, especially if Amazon is doing 3rd party order fulfillment, better to just do pick up order from Walmart or Safeway. Getting a non-food item that's bad is no big deal, just exchange it.. getting bad food can be dangerous.

u/klashe · 1 pointr/fitmeals

Little late to the party, but I am a huge iced coffee fan and I'll tell you what worked for me.

I loved Starbucks Iced Coffees but they got too expensive after a while. I initially used regular VIA packets (not the Iced Coffee one) in a 32 ounce bottle filled with ice water, they were good, but again, got too expensive.

I then found this: [Cafe Bustelo Instant Coffee] (http://www.amazon.com/Cafe-Bustelo-Instant-Espresso-3-5-Ounce/dp/B001E95KUQ/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1376341585&sr=8-6&keywords=cafe+bustelo) Makes strong, tasty iced coffee.

If you need it sweet, add a scoop or two of Protein Powder (chocolate or vanilla). Makes it a Iced cafe mocha.

Muscle Milk is the best brand for this recipe (although higher in calories).

u/Konijndijk · 1 pointr/keto

I figured there's no noticeable difference. Here's my recipe:

2tbsp unsalted tillamook butter, 1tbsp coconut oil, 1tsp nestle vanilla sugar-free creamer, a small chunk of 85% coco, and a couple tablespoons of Medaglia Doro instant espresso. Add boiling water.

Everyone should seek and try "the Dag" at least once. I could write a short story on its virtues.

u/stompinghippo · 1 pointr/personalfinance

If you're looking for AMAZINGLY GOOD but rather inexpensive coffee, I highly recommend Kirkland's Columbian coffee (you can get it at Costco or with Amazon Prime here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008P731LK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). 3lbs of ground coffee beans $17.47 on Amazon with free shipping if you have Prime. It's not Folger's cheap, but it's just about there and it tastes really, really good.

u/Anikando · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Well, the sugar plums (mentioned in Cellophane_Girl's reply thread on this post) were pretty awesome.

I would say my favorite thing to get from there is probably Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee beans. Here's a link to them - so smooooooth, best coffee I've ever tried!

What do you enjoy primarily buying there, food or otherwise?

u/fonduman · 1 pointr/Coffee

It looks to be roasted ok, I think I just overextracted it due to a full 4 minute extraction on too fine a grind. I always thought the 4 minute rule a bit strange in that I noticed a better result closer to 2 minutes, but I wanted to do things by the book when I first got the new coffee. Might make sense in hindsight.

This is the product I bought:

Sounds like they were going for a mexican chocolate flavor and failed...

I did a bit of research to find out where this k-cup came from (our office supplies them for us so I never know what we're going to get) and I guess it came from this, which might be something you'd enjoy: https://www.amazon.com/Two-Rivers-Flavored-Sampler-Single-Cup/dp/B00N0JIACS?th=1.

u/KillerNathan54 · 1 pointr/teenagers
u/sweetmercy · 1 pointr/Cooking

Are you talking about the instant espresso form of Bustelo? In the little packets? Or the kind you brew? If it's the latter, it's preferable because the finer grind works better. If it's actual espresso powder, the sort you mix with hot water and stir with a spoon? Don't use that.

u/p0rt25 · 1 pointr/sandiego

Here's my go to, at home or on the trail. Can't live without espresso. It is so much simpler, more self contained, and I guess I just grew up on it. My pot makes 3 servings, but kind of looks like this. Goes right on the stove, and whistles when it's done.

Ive roasted these beans: https://www.amazon.com/Single-Unroasted-Coffee-Specialty-Nicaraguan/dp/B014THN4OI/ref=sr_1_3_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1522262091&sr=8-3&keywords=nicaraguan+green+coffee+beans and made cold brew concentrate 4 oz of coffee for every 2.5 cups of water. after it brews for 12-16 hours ill pour half of the concentrate over ice in the glass and then dilute it with another half of milk or water. Seriously turns out incredible. Also any fruity african beans like Kenya Kirinyaga Thunguri AB or Ethopian kochere always comes out delicious when cold brewed.

u/MiRIr · 0 pointsr/gaming

I'm pretty sure my math makes sense here. 1 cubic centimeter is equivalent to 1 milliliter. 192 mL is equal to about 6.5 fluid ounces, which is the amount of espresso in this drink, which is certainly closer in size to a 3DS than a CRT.

u/JHatter · 0 pointsr/Coffee

If you check on Amazon (which is where I've ordered a lot of my stuff that didn't come from my parents holidays) they sell it for £8.81/100g

They do sell a black 'premium' bag if you visit but I don't think it's sold globally. Really nice coffee tho, it's cheap-ish enough that you can kinda use it once a day and not feel terrible while also being not as expensive that it's one of those coffees you only use on 'rare occasions'

u/YRYGAV · 0 pointsr/theydidthemath

> Tea costs $100 a pound which breaks down to about ¢.50 a cup.

> Coffee costs on average $7.25 a pound so a cup comes out to ¢.16 per cup. Significantly less than tea but still more than 5 times the cost of a lemon wedge.

Restaurants are not paying anywhere close to that amount of money for tea, are you serious? They are going to have some cheap ass tea bags that is not anywhere in the realm of $0.50 / cup or $100 / pound. And some cheap ass coffee.

And that's for retail prices that include shipping that one item. A restaurant is going to have some supplier and buying in bulk, their prices are going to be way cheaper than that.
