this is the one I use, and it’s worked great for me

Trying to understand her thought process here...

Microwave = warmth.

Socks on radiator = warmth.

Socks in microwave = warmth.

Microwave doesn't use flame.

Microwave cannot be a fire hazard.

Or thinking that since these go in the microwave, ALL fabrics can, which means she doesn't understand simple concepts like cotton is different than velvet which is different than linen...

With that inattention to detail, can your boss really afford to keep her dumb ass..? This isn't going to be the only time she could've killed y'all

My wife is a ballet dancer/instructor, going strong in her 40s. Her pain routine:

  • Keep ice packs in your freezer. Your local drugstore should have something like this. Wherever it hurts, and joints in particular, ice for 20 minutes, BUT NOT LONGER. After about 20 minutes, your body has some kind of reaction that kicks in and lessens/counteracts the effectiveness of the ice. (I don't really understand it, but it seems to work for her.) Do this a couple times a day.
  • Alternate ibuprofen and acetaminophen.
  • Epsom salt baths, as u/GypsyWitch05 said.
  • Stretch thoroughly before AND AFTER dance.
  • At night, lie on the floor with your butt against the wall and your legs sticking up the wall. You may want to put a belt loosely around your legs at the knees so you can fully relax your legs. Do this for 10-20 minutes, or longer if you want. She says it helps with inflammation.

    Break a leg!

It was a 2018 gift, but this cute hot water bottle. My feet are freezing most of the year but fall/winter especially. I can't sleep if my feet are cold so my husband bought me this. I fill this with hot water when I shower at night, pop it at the foot of the bed, and it makes sleeping SO much more comfortable.

Plus the cover is super cute and keeps things from getting too hot. :)

Some version of a flowing water ice pack

I copied what they did in physio: I got myself this long heating pad put it on the inside of my leg wrapped in a blanket, let it warm my muscles up, and then stretched the leg by putting my ankle on something and a weight just above the knee for a few minutes at a time.

/u/_jeth needs this book so she can have it signed by David Sedaris when she sees him speak next week. I've heard that when he signs things he writes hilarious inscriptions. It would be a shame if she missed out on that amazing opportunity.

I don't need double talk, I need this hot water bottle to soothe all my aches and pains.

Orange already covered most of what I would recommend.

I will say though 6 hours isn't all that much to a puppy, assuming he's ~3-4 months old you probably want to stop once or twice just to let him potty. that's not even a full night of sleep for context, something I'm sure you hope he can sleep through in the very near future. Puppies (and dogs in general) sleep a lot more than humans do, typically falling in the 12+hour/day range.

I'd expect the pup is getting to play with littermates and will be pretty tired before you pick him up, and will fall more-or-less right to sleep.

Have a crate, and try to make it as comfortable as possible, old towels or blankets at the bottom that can be removed in case of accidents, and nested in otherwise. Some way to provide water. Either Frozen Water bottles, or heated pads depending on the dog may help it settle and get comfortable as well, breeder might be able to make recommendations here.

Don't expect the pup to love you right away. It is a sammy so there's pretty good odds it will love you immediately, but at the end of the day you're a stranger stealing him from the family he knows. Just try to give him a safe space that is his - honestly sitting in that space and forcing yourself on him may make things worse instead of better.

Make sure the pups needs are met and you stop to give it potty breaks - especially if you notice it drinking a lot, but 6 hours should be fine w/o much issue.

Depends on what you want. Modern heating pads are only allowed to get so hot, unless you have to actively keep them on.

So if you are going for HOT, a "classic" thermophore is great. (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000ZHJS0G/?coliid=I33NO79SFPCZG8&colid=7F8Z4MNFKO4P&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it) These are loved in the chronic pain community. And again, it has a switch and it just keeps heating.

Personally, I enjoy a more heat and toss approach. So this is used with a blanket on the other side (so you make a sandwich you-heating pad- pillow/ blanket) but you don't have to monitor it. (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LX5CR0M/ref=sxr_rr_xsim_1_a_it?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_p=3513574162&pd_rd_wg=R8QBF&pf_rd_r=WYNPNJR4TFDTXKQJTBE6&pf_rd_s=desktop-rhs-carousels&pf_rd_t=301&pd_rd_i=B00LX5CR0M&pd_rd_w=ws5nT&pf_rd_i=heating+pad+wrap+around&pd_rd_r=c5bcf031-4ce6-49e6-85d5-d975b57ad023&ie=UTF8&qid=1522531102&sr=1)

I use this one, I’m sitting on it right now. It uses infrared heat. Oddly, it was my psychiatrist (who happens to suffer from chronic pain as well) who recommended it to me.

I had the same brace after my ACL/meniscus tear, but I would take some of the straps off so I could slide this kind of pad in. It did wonders for the pain. I did it over the wrapping.

Once I got more healed up and didn't need the icing machine, these were the best ice packs I found. They stay soft, only take 2 hours before you can use them again, and they're the only ones that didn't break on me. I recommend getting two.

I have the Microraptor Pro case & live it. Feels like it would survive quite a beating. I don't think it'll fit as carry-on, but I have no immediate plans to fly anywhere with my Phantom.

It's supposed to be watertight to 1m for 30 minutes.

I may get down voted for this but oh well. I'm just throwing out some ideas if they can be at all helpful.

It maybe something helpful or it may not but I thought I would share. There are some Japanese who believe in facial massage . It's called Tanaka and it's highly regarded. It maybe helpful?

There's a good thread on Tanaka method here and here that really go into it. You can find her videos on youtube, here is the first one.

It may help reduce swelling? I'm not making any claims but I know other parts of our bodies , a massage can be beneficial to help with swelling.

Compression is also used for swelling in other parts of our body and there are such things as facial compression masks like this.

Then another option maybe to look at getting cooling masks to help with the puffiness or maybe the jade rollers? I use these on my eyes in the morning because I wake up to under eye bags. But some people say rollers help a lot too.

I got these little moldable ice packs, and while the fit is a little snug (Pixel XL, 2017 DD), it works perfectly for keeping the phone cool. I just wrap it in a paper towel to fight off condensation.

With a 5 pack, your battery will die before you ever have an issue with heat.

I'm not sure what the non-UK equivalents of these products are, but here we have...

A "snuggle safe" for keeping them warm on journeys https://www.amazon.co.uk/SnuggleSafe-Microwave-Wireless-Heatpad-Fleece/dp/B0014LJKUA

And "pet nap" heat pads as an alternative to CHEs https://www.amazon.co.uk/SAFE-Petnap-Electric-heat-33cm/dp/B00265EVZW/

Those combined with AC in the car & heating in the house should keep your hog happy

u/bruxbuddies · 2 pointsr/RATS

I got a Snuggle Safe microwaveable heating pad and I use it every day when it’s cold Pet Heating Pad by Snuggle Safe,... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0014LJKUA?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share. It can hold heat for about 8-10 h. I put it on top of the cage above where they sleep, and I put a piece of cardboard under it so there’s no chance of nibbling, and I put a blanket on top of it to hold the heat. When I put my hand in the cage underneath it, it’s toasty warm but not hot. They can just move away if they get too warm. Another option would be an oil-based space heater. These are pretty safe and can be set to turn off when it gets a certain temperature. Make sure the cord isn’t by the cage and it’s not too close to the cage. Probably a humidifier would be good to add since it can dry out the air (as someone suggested). I only have two boys currently and one has been on antibiotics, so I really want to keep them from getting too cold (gets down to 60 F in their room). Also, fleece cube hides and pocket hammocks are good to have as options. They can really stay warm and you can add extra fleece to keep the heat in.

u/nursethalia · 2 pointsr/migraine

I'm so sorry you're in pain! The only OTC advice I can offer is these cool gel sheets, which I buy in bulk for migraines. You can find them at most Walgreens, too. They don't make the pain go away, but they can help make it more bearable while you wait for the Excedrin PM to take the edge off and help you sleep.

When you are able to see a doctor, I would ask for abortive medicines to try, like triptans, and ask about starting the two-month free trial for the new preventative drug Aimovig. It's the best and fastest working preventative I've tried in the past decade (you give yourself a shot in the thigh every month).

I wish there were more I could offer, but ultimately the best help you can get is in the form of prescriptions.

u/fangirlsqueee · 2 pointsr/Fibromyalgia

Funny you ask about MRI and EDS. Sadly, I tried to do an MRI last month, but had a horrifying (and embarrassing) panic attack about 4 minutes in and have not rescheduled. So I can't help at all with sharing a diagnosis from MRI. At least they didn't charge my insurance. My orthopedic doctor took x-rays a few years ago and saw very slight calcification. I get steroid shots a few times a year and it helps, so inflammation is a factor.

Two family members have been diagnosed with EDS. I have not pursued that that avenue of possibility, so again can't share my own diagnosis.

I do ice pack and heating pad about every other night for about an hour. 15-20 cold, then 15-20 heat x 2. It helps me a ton. I've also started at home physical therapy that orthopedic doctor gave me. I use this ice pack cover and use this ice pack in it. I've also become mindful to not sleep on my side. I try to stay on my back when I'm aware/able.

Sorry I have no solid answers. This symptom comes and goes for me, just like everything else with fibro. Hope you find some relief.

My best friend sent me this when I was having some early complications, and it is THE MOST AMAZING THING. I get weepy thinking about how it is like a hug from her. <3

I have 2 skinnies and neither of them got on well with any clothing. Mostly just freaked out and tried to get them off ASAP (rip photo opportunities).

I tend to just leave a couple of fleece blankets in their cage which they burrow into and they seem to be happy enough.

Recently I just bought this which they absolutely love. As soon as I added it to the cage they instantly ran over to it to snuggle. Am considering getting another as there were harsh words between them until they realised they could both fit! I've put it in their cage before work, and when I got back it still had some residual heat which was good too.

u/Contrecoup42 · 2 pointsr/BabyBumps

Yeah... I've had to do this 😩 I started doing it occasionally around 36 weeks after he had been kicking the same place for at least a month. I picked up some mini gel ice/microwave packs from Amazon that are the perfect size. They don't stay cold super long because of the size, but I find that perfect for this because it makes sure I don't keep the cold on for too long. They were recommended for relief when nursing due to the size/shape.

Sunbeam makes one for neck, shoulders and upper back. It isn't cheap, bt it is the best I've ever owned ad I have gifted some to family and they love them to. The link posted is Amazon, however many large drug stores sell them as well. Note the way it is made. The collar has a strong magnetc clasp if you want to use itthat way.

I bought these disposable cold packs that were pretty amazing: perineal cold pack They’re like padsicles, but you don’t have to make them yourself and they don’t require freezing. You fold the pad in half to activate the cold pack and throw it out when it’s no longer cold.

If you want to help her financially, get her a giftcard to a local grocery store (for something sweet ;) ) or a local clothes shop that she likes. Some grocery stores do grocery delivery that you can pay for online, and a few areas have things like Amazon Fresh. As a proud woman who has spent a lot of time down on her luck, these are the helpful gifts that feel like gifts and not charity.

If she's been physically unwell, maybe look into something like: this
You can also buy a cute pair of socks, fill them with uncooked rice (not instant rice) and lavender, seal them up and presto, home made lavender heat wraps.

u/iRsysadmin · 2 pointsr/EdmontonOilers

Make sure whoever picks you up after has food ready. Don't be scared to test your leg. It's in basically cast with that brace on. I was walking on and off under two weeks. (You will need to lay in bed and ice all day after probably.)

This is the only thing that helped me when I had daily migraines in the first trimester. Yes it looks dumb but I was at the point of not caring. It velcros on and stays put.

u/Chopii · 2 pointsr/alaska

I recommend the Flexikold. You can order them on Amazon, and come from like letter size to literally the size of your back. They are very tough and not likely to leak. You can also get a reusable gel ice pack at pretty much any store with a first aid/recovery section. I got a decent one at Fred Meyer for about 10 bucks. They are awesome and re-"freeze" in like 30-45 minutes.

As an Eskimo living in Anchorage, with an apartment that has terrible cross-breeze, I need these to survive! In a pinch you can use a 2 liter bottle (make sure you don't fill it too full), but the gel packs are the way to go.

u/ShardAerliss · 2 pointsr/Rabbits

For the hardwood and tile floors put down some rugs to help her walk. One of my little guys plays the floor is lava between our rugs, and dashes up and down the long runner in the living room. Super cute.

Getting her used to people is really only a matter of time and patience. Bunny trust is hard to earn, and easily lost. Quiet time on the floor with her, treats... that sort of thing.

As for sitting out in the rain; three of mine quite enjoy it, if it's not a very heavy downpour. Wild buns are keen to be out in the rain, because it puts off predators. Domestics haven't all lost that instinct, even if they have lost their waterproof coats. You could put something out there for her to sit under. That way she can stay dry but be outside. I've got some planks resting over a couple of buckets, and an old deck chair opened to the lying position with a blanket thrown over it for mine.

If you're worried about her being cold you could get a snuggle safe. You heat them in the microwave for 5-10 minutes and they stay warm for hours. I've got two that I put in the shed for my outdoor buns in winter. UK Amazon, but they are available in many other places around the world. https://www.amazon.co.uk/SnuggleSafe-Microwave-Wireless-Heatpad-Fleece/dp/B0014LJKUA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1497180006&sr=8-1&keywords=snugglesafe+pet+heat+pad

If you are still having a headache try:

  • Excedrin migraine. Or something with caffeine. Caffeine is the difference between normal Excedrin and Excedrin Migraine.

  • An icepack - my fav icepack I have been through many, many icepacks LOL

  • If it is coming from your neck biofreeze can really help

  • Take a nap in a dark room and/or use an eyemask

    I hope you feel better!

These were the ice packs I used, i had a 3rd degree tear and lived on these things for a week, they felt so much better, yes they go on top of the pad. They're the same ones the hospital gives you. It takes about 4-6 weeks for your abs to firm up, the corset style support was nice but too hard for me to breathe in! It does help you get up and move around without a jelly feeling belly though!

I am so sorry your pain has been dismissed for so long. I had my lap back in March. I wrote a pretty long post afterwards because I was so angry about my treatment by doctors. Maybe it will help you feel like you're not alone in this.

As for recovery, the two hardest parts for me were 1) making sure I was able to go to the bathroom afterwards. I finally had to take magnesium citrate to get things moving again. I was so scared I had a bowel obstruction. and 2) the shoulder pain you get from the gas they use to inflate your abdomen is really intense a day or two after your surgery. Make sure you have an electric heating pad that you can drape over your shoulder. This one looks like it would be magical. It will help a lot.

You'll do great, and I promise it's worth it. During your next period, you'll feel like you can run a marathon <3

I do them every second day.

Eccentric exercises, and a good heat pad.

There's only so much that you can push that weaker scar tissue though.

Resistance Band

http://www.amazon.com/Black-Mountain-Products-Resistance-Included/dp/B002L6WO5U

(I cut off the handles so that I can wrap them around my hand).

Squeeze ball

http://www.handmasterplus.com/

Heat pad

http://www.amazon.ca/Sunbeam-2013-900-Xpress-Heating-Brown/dp/B00942VQQC

The rest is just using assistive technology to limit physical computer use.

E.g. speech recognition, contact-less controls, eye tracking.

Achilles tendinosis (mostly in the right Achilles):

I found that the bent knee heel drops felt the best.

I did way more of those than the eccentric exercises with a straight leg.

(You should still stretch with both a straight and bent leg.

The straight leg stretches are for the calves, and a bent leg is for the Achilles).

On a side note, I noticed that doing a lot of the eccentric exercises felt great on my Achilles, but it bothered my shin area, which is in the front (shin splints?).

I was wondered if my Achilles area was being built up, and that would cause an imbalance in the front.

This sounds weird and very un splurge like, but this hot water bottle is the bomb. Seriously.

If there is any reason that you didn't get it by now, here is your chance. Just think about suffering with cramps or sore muscles and wonder, what could I do to alleviate this horror? Hot water bottle is the answer.

How do i know? I used to have bad cramps when I was younger. I don't anymore, but this seriously helped more than aleve. Also, I had two since I'd get back and lower stomach cramps. Oh, the pleasures of being a girl! (゜´Д`゜)

I've never been able to control my temperature, it's a side effect of the fibro I have. I don't think Cymbalta helps (I'm on it too).

u/Sunfl00 · 1 pointr/RATS

One of my rats has a respiratory infection so I cannot give him water to play in but I want to keep them cool. The ice packs are made of safe ingredients, but I am putting them in a little tin anyway to keep ratty teeth off of them. The blue metal box is about 10 inches wide which should be plenty of room for my two rats with the cold tub inside.

I'd wait until you get the take from your PT. I was back on the bike within three weeks for both of my ACL repairs but full recovery took months and I had a lot of swelling for nearly a year. I did PT for a year in both cases, obviously less and less as time progressed.

A subsequent total knee replacement was actually easier to recover from.

If you don't already have one, pick one of these up on ebay with the knee attachment. I use mine still after long hard rides.

It's not a pillow, but one of my fav things in the world is a hot water bottle like this: https://www.amazon.com/Premium-Classic-Rubber-Bottle-Purple/dp/B01KSLPKS2/ref=sr_1_8_s_it?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1518421496&sr=1-8&keywords=hot+water+bottle

It's a soft rubber bottle that you fill with hot water out of a kettle (obvs don't fill it up all the way, just 2/3 full). It fits inside a soft cover and when you hug it, it's just so warm and soothing. Everytime I have period pains or a bellyache this is my go to solution. Or any kind of aches really. Or when I'm sick. This stuff is amazing and so comforting.

I think a plastic tub with ice packs like these or a bunch of the small hard ones will probably be fine (just swapping out the packs with fresh ones every day). I went to Home Depot and got this which I can use for both a fermentation swamp cooler and for bottle conditioning (can close it up and throw it in the closet easily).

I'm just being super nervous and worried as a first-timer. I'm sure once I finish the first brew, I'll have learned a lot about the process and how my apartment can handle it.

That looks like the same model as this one: https://www.amazon.com/Radiant-Saunas-BSA6310-Rejuvenator-Portable

It looks like it would work for a while, #1 selling sauna. Not super robust, but enough to do the job.

This heating pad actually has levels that feel hot, unlike other brands, and while it has an auto shutoff feature it also has a feature where you can make it run continuously which I love. I had tried many other brands before this and they were terrible....would shut off all the time after what seemed like a short while and they never felt warm, let alone hot. Now that I mention it I should buy another one because my spouse sometimes steals mine when she has pain from cramps and other would be good to get her one of her own and would be nice to have a backup anyway.

This is the one I have....

But they also have a couple for the neck as well...

There are bags you can microwave or freeze that I find very helpful. They are filled with corn or rice or buckwheat hulls. Most people call them rice bags. I don’t know if you are crafty or feel like being crafty, but if you get some flannel or other very soft fabric, you can make a bag filled with rice for very cheap. Otherwise you can buy them many places, including amazon; just search rice bag

But if you have a scrap of fabric or even buy a little bit, with the cost of rice it can be sewn for a few bucks.

It’s nice to have more than one when using frozen because you can use one while the other is freezing.

I love this case:

Good quality case. Definitely worth it, especially since you can leave the props on while storing your Phantom in it. :)

I use this one , it’s a bit cheaper and it’s been a life saver. Probably the best money I’ve ever spent, but I get tons of migraines.

Not a reusable ice pack, but I've had some luck with these cooling patches : BeKoool Cooling Relief for Migraine Soft Gel Sheets, Pack of 3 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004AI8ZE6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_Kre4Cb4PFW6HH
