I treat mine by this:
1 Drink more water
2 Laneige lip mask
3 Lanolin, I prefer the lanolish brand but also own it in chapstick form, but I have to keep it in the fridge and can only apply it by dabbing it on, since I live in Houston. It doesn't always help because I also have a horrible habit of picking at my lips. It's an idle hands thing, I don't even realize I'm doing it.

No, you can definitely go with just the basics. I'd even wager that's how most of us got started! I know that was the case for me; it began with just some Bare Minerals face powder I had a gift card for, then what the heck let's try eyeliner, then boom fast forward ten years and here I am with a whole "battle station" full of beauty products. But you definitely don't have to have all of that. So if you're aiming for minimal product usage, this is what I'd recommend (I'm linking to some classics I personally like):

Since it seems like one of your big concerns is evening out your skin tone, you will definitely need a BB cream or foundation (that's what the "face goo"s that even skintone are called :} ). Finding your color match is the trickiest bit, and can be kind of a trial and error process. If you can get someone to take a picture of your face, straight on, in natural light and upload it here, that'll help us help you. Powder is probably easiest to apply, although I personally think the liquids looks more natural.

Other than foundation, to get a more put together look all you probably need is mascara and tinted lip balm or lipstick. If you can stomach getting one more product, I'd recommend a nice bronzer/blush combo, because then you can use the bronzer as eyeshadow too.

All of this is available in the makeup aisle of most drugstores. You'll also find brush sets there (EcoBrush and ELF are nice and inexpensive). Another option would be to get one of those inexpensive all-in-one sets to play around with. I know they're not popular on here, because frankly the pigmentation and wear is shit compared to higher-end products, but for a beginner it's nice to have so you can figure out what you like and what you don't without having to buy tons of stuff.

I use a makeup finishing spray that might work. I too have had the horror of an amazing sharpie scene that degraded into ruined clothing & sheets. :( I buy my finishing spray on amazon & it's well worth the price. I haven't personally tried it for sharpie but it works well to keep makeup in place for hours so I think it's worth a try?

This is the brand I've used, but there are tons out there!

I rely on 2 items, but they are more in balm form than stick form, not sure if that matters to you...

smiths rosebud salve which you can get at Sephora, is petroleum based like vaseline.

dr lipp nipple balm for lips also available from birchbox. this is 100% medical grade lanolin. This can rescue the most dire of dry lips.

Both of these LIVE in my purse.

Their lip butters in the tins are great, but for my purse I keep this, or aquaphor also makes one that's specifically for lips that's also awesome. they're not quite AB, but i haven't found anything better.

I have the same problem and recently bought the Monistat primer and Skindivia Setting Spray(which sadly I got for 19 dollars a week ago without Prime so I'm really sad it's on sale now :( ). The monistat didn't do much to control the shine but the Setting Spray did completely. I lasted a good 6 hours without blotting and no shine! Soooo happy I bought this... Try it out while it's still on sale :)

This would be a better question for r/skincareaddiction, but since I experienced extremely dry skin while on Accutane, I'll tell you what helped me. I think it's very important, if you're taking a medication that dries your skin out, to make sure your skin is hydrated during the day and even more hydrated at night. I used a bunch of different lip balms (mostly Aquaphor, which was pretty good). The untinted Fresh Sugar lip treatment was my favorite, but it's pricey. What really helped me was the Neosporin Overnight lip renewal protectant. But the main ingredient is petrolatum, so I'm pretty sure Vaseline would be equally effective. I not only put it on my lips, but I dabbed a little extra in and on the corners of my mouth because the skin there can crack and become very painful if it gets too dry. It looks gross, but it will provide some relief so you'll feel a little better in the morning.

I use the one with vitamin E and peppermint oil. I usually just pick it up at Walmart or CVS or something.

I'm addicted to lip balms! This is the one I use at night and enjoy it.

I have used this stuff for years. It was recommended to me by an aesthetician who said my chapstick addiction was bad for my skin.

What a wicked fun idea!! This thing that I have needed for a berry long time...heh heh. And for when you need healthy sweets, why not this? And this is cute and sweet, which is always a great match! Thanks for hosting!

u/howdidIgetsuckeredin · 2 pointsr/AsianBeauty

Yup! It doesn't even need to be nipple cream specifically; a rich, natural lip balm (such as Burt's Bees or these (there's also an all unscented version)) can also do double duty.

u/sugarbibbles · 2 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

**Skin type and skin concerns:**

Main concerns: Dryness, acne (cystic and general acne all over chin and cheeks), and splotchy discoloration all over my face (my dermatologist said it was melasma). My skin is consistently congested and breaking out, yet my entire face is sensitive, dull, itchy and flakey. After years of reading tips here, I've finally gotten to the point where redness and the majority of flaking is gone and products don't burn when they touch me, but my skin remains dull and feels tight.

While the products I've selected are relatively affordable, they add up. Plus I'm worried I'm doing more damage than good by overwhelming my skin with all these product. Mostly though, I'm so jealous of all your minimalist routines I see on here, and I want to create one that would work for me. I don't know where to start. What are your thoughts?

    **Daily behaviors possibly impacting skin:**

My diet is crap. While I don't eat a lot of processed food, I eat too much sugar, too much oily and fatty foods, too much red meat and not enough vegetables. Because of my family, it's going to be difficult to make adjustments, and honestly I'm not sure where to start. Caffeine consumption is pretty high, while I only have the occasional coffee, I drink a TON of green tea and oolong tea. Water intake is fair, and I usually refill my 32oz water bottle 2 times a day (yes, I have to run to the bathroom at least every 30 minutes). I pretty much stopped wearing makeup a little over a year ago, now I only wear for special occasions and the occasional eye liner.
u/mazelpunim · 2 pointsr/muacjdiscussion

I use this kind as a sort of lip mask, since it's a bit goopy.... but I really like it, since it actually stays on my lips and doesnt have unnecessary added ingredients: https://www.amazon.com/Medical-Grade-Lanolin-Green-Label/dp/B01N9DHVC6/ref=asc_df_B01N9DHVC6/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=312176484635&hvpos=1o1&hvnetw=g&hvrand=377613478014360347&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9033303&hvtargid=pla-568152821190&psc=1

I love this emu oil one for an all-day touch-up balm (it is a larger stick = easy to cover lips in one swipe): https://www.amazon.com/Montana-Emu-Ranch-Therapy-Unscented/dp/B01M8LI1PR

The emu ones come in single sticks and different flavors, but the 3 pack is the best deal. I'm pretty picky about lip stuff but.i know preferences really vary person to person!

I think that this chapstick would be ever so useful for me to keep my lips hydrated and soft! Plus it's <$3 with free shipping!

u/chlead · 2 pointsr/Accutane

I used an overnight lip treatment every night and it helped IMMENSELY. So much that if I really wanted to I could wear matte lipstick and be okay. It's by Neosporin and you can find it at Walgreens or on Amazon.

Vaseline Lip Therapy Advanced Petroleum Jelly, 3 Count https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01AUJ11N0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_sUp7AbBFPK6QW this is the best stuff but I prefer the scents so I like Palmer's or Burt's bees

u/tragopanic · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

My total is $18.27.

$4.00 Lip balm ($4 + free shipping)

$4.00 Used book ($0.01 + $3.99 shipping; used version available at this price from multiple sellers)

$8.00 Nail polish ($8 + Prime)

$2.27 Batteries ($2.27 + free shipping)

I spent sooooo much time on this! It was a lot more difficult than I thought it'd be. ツ Here's a screenshot in case the prices change. They tend to do that, especially for the cheap stuff. The batteries in particular go up & down more than a few times a day.

u/PM_ME_UR_LAT_SPREAD · 2 pointsr/Steroidsourcetalk

Heh, I've been on for three months and when I got your pack I've been on 75mg ED with no nosebleeds yet :D (almost done with the first pack). Tried 100mg yesterday but felt even more of a lethargic zombie than usual. Super strong stuff. Had to end up buying this because my lips got way more dry than with another supplier's accutane at 60mg ED: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001B4X1YQ/ref=mp_s_a_1_2_a_it?qid=1466504522&sr=8-2&keywords=cortibalm&pi=SY200_QL40

It's supposedly highly recommended for accutane users.

On the left of the search page you can choose the seller. I usually click on AMAZON and feel like that weeds out all of these random sellers out there. Also, some beauty brands have accounts on Amazon where it shows the actual company name as the "seller" on the right of the product details page. Example - My favorite lip balm.

This stuff is amazing. It's better than anything, even the more expensive stuff. It makes your lips feel better immediately, and softens up the cracked part so that you can exfoliate it off. I use it every day before bed, and I have since high school.

u/reversemermaid · 2 pointsr/beauty

I also get fairly shiny/oily in the summer (and live in constant humidity in coastal South Carolina) and the best thing I've found for combating shine is a mattifying spray before primer and then a light BB cream. I use Skindinavia No More Shine spray and Smashbox Photofinish primer and follow up with Maybelline BB cream. I admit, I'm a little new to the world of mattifying sprays and BB creams so I'm sure there might be better out there that I still would need to try, but these have worked for me pretty well so far. I still get a little shiny around my nose and chin, but it's nothing a bit of blotting tissue or powder can't take care of.

Sound advice, but you must use this.

I would like to enter for this lip balm, please!

Thanks for the contest! <3

u/Yoyochan · 1 pointr/SkincareAddiction

I've been loving Nivea lip balm lately, and they also make versions with SPF added. I also have a chronic habit of biting and licking my lips, and when I put a thick and nourishing lip balm on like these it helps remind me not to chomp on my poor lips. These do have a slightly sweet scent and flavor to them, so that might not help you if it tempts your taste buds. :P

I also do a quick exfoliation on my lips every other day when I get out of the shower by wetting the corner of a towel and gently buffing my lips for 5-10 seconds to slough off the dead skin that softened up in the warm water - helps keep damage from peeling at bay.

Nivea lip balm is the first lip balm I ever thoroughly used a whole tube of, then bought another. I like the blue ones the best, a kiss of smoothness and a kiss of moisture I think. The lip butters in the tins are nice too and smell really good! I recently bought a Palmer's cocoa butter lip balm on a whim from a 5 Below store and it's actually really nice! When I first opened it, it was a bit hard so it takes your body heat to warm the product up but once you use it several times it's good to go and it's really moisturizing. I'm really picky about lip balms and chapsticks! :P

Neosporin Overnight treatment is incredible. I used to get really chapped lips all the time, and have not had any issues for over two years thanks to this stuff. I use it at the first sign of dryness.

Good luck! I find this stuff works wonders without a lot of reapplying. Individually they're about $2 at the drugstore.

One day a twenty-something girl was walking down the street when she saw some cat butts in front of her.

"That's weird..." she thought to herself, as she pulled her Burt's Bees out of her pocket and applied it to her lips. "I wonder if those cats are plotting to kill me?"

"Oh well" she decided, walking past the suspicious cats. "At least I'll have one last geocaching experience before I die"

In the end, the cats didn't kill her. But when she got home her pants were wrinkly from wandering around in the woods. Good thing she had an ironing board to smooth them out!

I’ve been using this sugar scrub lately and it’s pretty nice! Scrub it on at the beginning of my shower and rinse and was it off when I wash my face at the end (giving the oils sometime to soak in). It seems expensive for such a small tub, but you only need a tiny bit each time so it does last a while!
