Gurl. Liquid. Iron. I was severely anemic and had high blood pressure AFTER GIVING BIRTH. I had to be put on blood pressure meds. My midwife told me to get liquid iron, that it would be easier on my bowels and easier to take. IT WAS AMAZING. You need to drink it COLD, though. Otherwise it tastes like straight-up ass. LIQUID MOTHERFUCKING IRON.

u/swozey · 7 pointsr/ketogains

I've got a jar of NOW Potassium Chloride. It's 10% of daily potassium (365mg) and yells at you multiple times to not take more than 3 servings.

Tastes fine except for when I forget I've put it in my water glass, go for a drink expecting water and it's warm saltish water. ugh.

Checkout this listing of various types: http://fixyourgut.com/magnesium-most-overlooked-mineral-for-improving-health-2/

  • magnesium oxide (worst) -> Not very bioavailable, laxitive
  • magnesium citrate (ok) -> Good bioavailablity, laxitive
  • magnesium glycinate (better) -> Good bioavailablity, not laxitive
  • magnesium taurate (best IMHO) -> Good bioavailablity, not laxitive, best at deilvary to cardiac tissue, also supplies a large does of taurine

Its worth pointing out low Magnesium doesn't usually show up on a blood (serum) test as the cells in your body will buffer your blood Magnesium (unless you are deathly deficient). The only way to really know is a oral magnesium tolerance test where the patient is given (usually IV magnesium) until they start expressing normal amounts of it in their urine.

Rather than try to find someone who is willing and able to give the test, I would recommend just taking magnesium. Make sure you take a decent kind magnesium oxide is worthless, magnesium citrate is OK, ideally you should take a chelated magnesium.

The chelates are more bioavaialbe and not laxative. The type of chelate influences where it ends up in greater concentrations in the body.

I take Magnesium Taurate for my cardio tissue once a day [1], and Magnesium Glycinate once a day to target my skeletal muscle [2].

I would highly recommend a glycinate and malate combination. the malate is great for atp production.

u/starstough · 5 pointsr/Hypothyroidism

My constipation resolved when I got on Nature Throid which is desiccated thyroid and has T3 and T4. If you are on a highish dose of synthetic T4 like Synthroid or generic levothyroxine, you may remain constipated if your body sucks at converting T4 to T3.

So if it gets too bad, definitely try magnesium.

For relief TODAY, if you can sit around at home this weekend, take 2 caps of Miralax and mix it in some juice until it is fully dissolved and drink up. It doesn't taste like anything and is fine to use this way. You can even take a cap full every 2 hours and you'll be shitting water by the end of the day. That's how we always cleaned out my son when he had to have colonoscopies regularly. (he's fine now).

u/eyewhycue2 · 5 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

You would need to do some research. I weigh more than you and am older but this might be a good place to start. Read some reviews... of course some may not be real but it worked for me.

I took Accutane many years before and it didn’t work and just dried out my skin and seriously harmed my mucous membranes. Zinc is like giving your immune system extra ammo. Helped keep me from getting as many colds, too.

u/WilsonsHead · 5 pointsr/fasting

Thanks. I buy pretty much everything off of Amazon, for the potassium and magnesium in capsule form I like Now Foods brand:

Potassium Citrate

Magnesium Citrate

I broke the fast last night, just wasn't feeling right and decided it was better to end it than to push on. They say your body will tell you when you need to end it and I was having that feeling, but no regrets and I feel good about it.

u/MgmtmgM · 5 pointsr/fasting

For sodium, regular table salt works but it's theoretically possible to get too much iodine if you eat enough of it. I'm not sure how big of a concern that should really be though.

For potassium I use No Salt which is just straight potassium salt and can be found at Walmart. They also have things like Salt Lite which is about a 50/50 mix of sodium and potassium, but I don't think the sodium has iodine. You could always mix in a little table salt to get your iodine fix, if you went this route.

As for magnesium, magnesium glycinate seems to be the best. You want at least 200g. The one I use is https://www.amazon.com/Magnesium-Glycinate-Chelate-450-Supplement/dp/B076J7BC6Z

It is out of stock on Amazon but on their website they have it for $20. Take an hour or two before bedtime so you aren't tired in the day. I linked to Amazon in case you want a different but similar product.

Note how I didn't suggest potassium supplements. Due to outdated regulations, they can't sell more than 99mg supplements (even though a product might have a higher number on the label, this number is just total weight) which just doesn't cut it as far as your needs go.

u/tzamora · 4 pointsr/Nootropics

I have been using this brand: https://www.amazon.com/NOW-Magtein-90-Veg-Capsules/dp/B00JEZQAFG

I use it as it says. 1 capsule at noon and then 2 before bed. I think thats about 2g if the nutritional label is correct.

At first it felt really good, super focused, but now the effect is less noticeable. Nevertheless I prefer to not increase that dosage and simply continue with it for supplementation purposes.

One thing to say its that because I researched about this type of magnesium I now eat more salads and magnesium rich foods. Ha now I feel I'm drugging myself with salads.

Benefits? Super focus, I think I respond easier to questions, take decisions faster.

u/Whereruchristmas · 4 pointsr/BabyBumps

No. You cannot. I really, really tried with just foods. I ate an insane amount of iron rich foods and it wasn't enough. I forgot what my levels were but my iron was dangerously low. I thought I could do it with food alone and I have been passing out this entire pregnancy from lack of oxygen from such low iron. I learned my lesson when I recently almost passed out while driving on the highway. I should have listened to my doctor and didn't take them seriously when they tried to stress how I needed more iron. I also didn't realize when you're low iron, you're more likely to bleed more after birth. That woke me up real fast. I've been on this liquid iron ever since and I can literally feel the difference. Warning: It tastes like death. So take it like a shot and throw it in the back of your throat. Then follow it with a swig of soda and food to cover up the taste. It's that bad. But the trade-off is tons of iron and no constipation at all. I bought mine at Whole Foods. Good luck and don't wait until it's too late!

u/LeoXearo · 4 pointsr/keto

What magnesium and potassium supplements are you taking? Magnesium carbonate pills didn't help me with my blood pressure or lightheadedness. It wasn't until I switched to Magnesium Citrate powder that I mixed with water and a potassium salt-substitute that my blood pressure went down and I stopped feeling faint/dizzy.

I really feel that switching to magnesium citrate powder was the key to lowering my bp and feeling better. This is the one I use NOW Foods Magnesium Citrate Powder

u/SoyBoyMeHoyMinoy · 4 pointsr/vegan

Doc sounds incredibly ignorant. 5 slices of bacon supply 0.38mg of iron and 3 eggs supply 1.57mg of iron. The same amount of calories from lentils supplies 7.8mg of iron.

Keep eating your beans and greens, but try to eat them with foods that contain vitamin c, it’ll improve absorption. Also make sure you’re not missing out on b12 because that can also lead to poor iron absorption. Worst case scenario you gotta spend $7 on a supplement twice a year.

u/PinniPie · 4 pointsr/Anxiety

I'm sorry you're feeling this way. Have you tried taking a magnesium supplement? I had a hard time falling asleep for years, as I was anxious as well. After reading someone's suggestion for magnesium (for palpitations), I ordered [these] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01GW4V7MC/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1493450972&sr=8-1&keywords=Natural+Rhythm) on Amazon. They've worked wonders for both my anxiety and getting restful sleep.

Or [this stuff], which is better.

First 90 days:

u/blippyz · 3 pointsr/Nootropics

How have you attributed it to the zinc? If you skip it for a couple days do the side effects go away, and then immediately start again as soon as you get back on it?

I've been taking this Zinc for a year and haven't experienced any of the things you mentioned: https://www.amazon.com/Source-Naturals-OptiZinc-120-Tablets/dp/B00020I7Q2

u/tmroach2 · 3 pointsr/keto

Magnesium I use these. My stomach was very upset with me for about 4 weeks as I tried different brands/types of magnesium. These are the only ones I've tried that work great without making me a fountain.

Generic multivitamin.

Potassium- Cooked spinach each morning and a little nu-salt in broth or on food.

Salt- beef broth daily & salt everything.

Then Track amounts in MFP each day, to make sure all electrolyte amounts were met.

Here is some reputable magnesium citrate power : http://www.amazon.com/Foods-Magnesium-Citrate-Powder-Ounces/dp/B004189JCW

Here is some potassium powder: http://www.amazon.com/Now-Foods-Potassium-Gluconate-1-pound/dp/B0015C2ZI2/ref=sr_1_1_s_it?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1457137020&sr=1-1&keywords=potassium+powder

Both will last you longer, be more effective, and in the end just be more efficient at tackling the electrolyte imbalances we suffer through as alcoholics.

You take a tea spoon/table spoon/whatever spoon and mix it into water, stir it up and gulp it down.

u/tarmical · 3 pointsr/vegan

I experienced the same thing when I first stopped eating meat. I've had canker sores my whole life. But a few months after giving up meat I had a very severe sore that gave me fevered symptoms and made my whole body feel horrible. In my experience they generally start with some kind of trauma: accidentally hitting my gums while brushing, biting my lip, etc. I did some quick googling and found that they can be worsened by a diet lacking in vitamin B-12, zinc, folate (folic acid) or iron. I got this https://www.amazon.com/VegLife-Iron-Vegan-Tablet-Count/dp/B000H7SR9W/ref=sr_1_2_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1502118010&sr=8-2&keywords=vegan+iron+supplement and haven't had any significant incidents since. The best thing to do while you have a sore is to rinse the area with warm salt water and treat it very gently, because more trauma will just make it worse. Hope this helps!

u/african_violent · 3 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

I'm not sure if this fits your requirements, but someone in this sub suggested a zinc supplement. It's awesome! I have had WAY LESS cystic acne/chin break outs since I started taking it about a month ago. Here's the suggested one.

u/mslindz · 3 pointsr/Celiac

Honestly taking iron never helped me and often made things worse as iron supplements can cause constipation which is already an issue for me (especially when glutened, sigh). I have chronic low iron that goes up into normal ranges occasionally, but usually sits a bit below normal. Doctors never seemed to be too worried about it for me unless it's causing issues, which it does occasionally but not consistently enough for them to do anything given the side effects I get from it.

Treatment is varied, so it depends on how bad it is. B12 and Vitamin D deficiencies are also common because your small intestine can't absorb what it needs to. Any good doctor should be running a full blood panel to see what's going on because any of these things could contribute to her symptoms. Vitamin deficiencies were the first thing my doctor considered, then thyroid issues, then I ended up at the GI.

I did take a supplement for a while after diagnosis that seemed to help with my energy levels and didn't have the negative side effects. MegaFood - DailyFoods Blood Builder. It's gluten, dairy, soy free and vegan. Supposed to be gentle on your system compared to other iron supplements, so it might be worth a shot for her. It really sucks to have to go through all the nonsense with doctors. Tell her to hang in there and keep seeking the right treatment and get answers. Its worth it, even though its so tough right now.

u/SirFoxx · 2 pointsr/conspiracy

I use both. Epsom salt baths 4 times a week after a workout and I take this form of magnesium:

https://www.amazon.com/Now-Foods-Magtein-90-Count/dp/B00JEZQAFG/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1469285530&sr=8-1&keywords=now+Magnesium+Threonate

So with what I get in the Epsom salt baths and this supplement, I've got Magnesium covered. So instead of using Fluoride rinses, I was thinking about using this:

https://www.amazon.com/Apagard-M-Plus-toothpaste-nanohydroxyapatite-remineralizing/dp/B0016GCZQO/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1484008970&sr=8-1&keywords=Apagard+M-Plus+toothpaste+115g

Any thoughts? Or does anyone have something else to use to replace Fluoride?

u/AlGeee · 2 pointsr/funny

I was having symptoms of low iron, but didn't digest normal iron supplements well.

I strongly recommend these plant-based tablets:

I have times when I’m more fatigued than others... like I need a nap after work or sometimes even during my lunch break and my job is not even strenuous. Something that has given me a lot of energy are iodine drops. They are great and usually don’t fail to get my energy up.. I take em in the mornings.

What type of magnesium are you taking? Regular magnesium you buy in the store won't do shit.

You need to take Magnesium Glycinate (chelated magnesium) Here's some information about magnesium glycinate and mdma + some other supplementation info!

Here it is on Amazon

u/flipflops36 · 2 pointsr/IAmA

Maybe she should take liquid iron instead. My mom took it for low iron and after a few weeks she was fine. She actually had to take it less because her iron was too high. Also, liquid iron doesn't make you constipated.

u/Captain_Midnight · 2 pointsr/keto

Ah, then you may not be getting enough actual absorbed magnesium. I'd try the Doctor's Best. I can personally vouch for it. Or you might want to try the Innovix stuff, which adds mag malate. That's what I'm taking now.

Edit: Also be aware that potassium pills are not legally allowed to provide more than 99g of actual absorbable potassium per pill. So for our purposes, they're actually not that useful. I've been pouring the powdered stuff into a tall glass of water three times a day. Once in the morning, then as soon as I get home from work, then before I go to bed. Don't try to get your day's allowance all at once. Gotta split it up, or else you can have issues.

Along with the stretching recommended below, pure magnesium oil sprayed on the soles of the feet and then rinsed off 25 minutes later does wonders for foot pain. https://www.amazon.com/Life-Flo-Magnesium-Chloride-Zechstein-Rejuvenating/dp/B004NHN9OA

u/cutercottage · 2 pointsr/xxketo4u2

Does the bottle say what kind of magnesium it is? It should say on the nutrition label. Ex magnesium citrate, magnesium taurate, etc

Edit:

Here's a guide to keto magnesium supplementation and the different types of magnesium. Magnesium citrate and oxide are known to have laxative effects. I personally take a combo of magnesium taurate, glycinate, and malate and do not have any bathroom side-effects from it. I've been taking it for about a year. It works wonders for my anxiety.

u/RunAMuckGirl · 2 pointsr/microdosing

Oh good for you on the water! Nice going.

I love this stuff > Magnesium Oil It's inexpensive and works great. Also epsom salts in the bath are another good delivery method. Oral supplements can cause diarrhea. That's counter productive.

Always trust your synchronistic worm holes. LOL Magnesium is the antidote to vasoconstriction. Do let us know if you have resolved your side effects! =]

Edit: Also, Do consider taking a multivitamin.

u/Mister_Cupcake · 2 pointsr/Supplements

I've heard Floradix is good for people with low iron. You can get it at most health food stores.

u/Ratscallion · 2 pointsr/xxfitness

This doesn't directly answer your question, but I went through this last summer and successfully got my iron levels back up to normal by using Blood Builder and using the app HabitBull to remind me to take the pills every day. Blood Builder is a lot gentler on the system than the other iron supplements. I was able to take it every day without needing to add laxatives.

I also ate some chicken liver, which I don't love. But, it is tolerable if you make it into pate and eat it with chips. :)

u/sugemchuge · 2 pointsr/keto

I'm from Toronto and couldn't find it anywhere but all you need is a generic potassium chloride suppplement. It's pretty much the same thing and only took a couple days to ship. 1.5tsp will get you daily requirement. Just sprinkle it in place of salt.

u/Carb_killa · 2 pointsr/keto

It's not listed as a stump remover, but it's the same thing he mentions.

Yea, just saw the comment, and another identical one, so I removed it.

u/ravenously_red · 2 pointsr/TwoXChromosomes

I think you should start supplementing iron. I went to my doctor with complaints about feeling faint on my heavy periods, so they drew some blood to run tests on. They told me that my results came back as "normal", but when I looked at the levels they were on the lowest end of normal.

I started taking "Mega Food Blood Builder" (its certified vegan) and it took that fainting feeling away.

I don't take it every day, but I eat meat and I supplement with these about twice a week.

This is the one I use, but I'm sure there are a ton of vegetarian/vegan options out there.

u/wastelands33 · 2 pointsr/Cardiology

Yes. Oxide from what I understand it poorly asorbed. Glycine salt is relaxing while so is the magnesium bonded to it and its more bioavailable. I get mag glycinate 200mg by itself at night and during the day take mag glycinate/malate blend. Ill need to get the brand that has the blend

EDIT: Advanced MAGNESIUM (by InnovixLabs). Highly Bioavailable Bisglycinate + Malate Formula, 150 Vegetarian Capsules. 200 mg Magnesium per serving. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00QSR9D9I/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_qxp-AbT52NN70

For regular glycinate I get KALS

u/follyboyz · 2 pointsr/conspiracy

Huh? No I only take 20 mg of zinc a day now. I used to take zinc pills like optizinc: https://www.amazon.com/Source-Naturals-OptiZinc-120-Tablets/dp/B00020I7Q2/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1525883474&sr=8-1&keywords=optizinc

But I was taking like 270 mg! I know it was stupid, but I just wanted to fix my deficiency so bad. I had diarrhea all the time! When I overdosed however, I started getting hypothyroidism symptoms. It was a nightmare. So glad I moved to something that is low dose.

u/fuckingoff · 2 pointsr/fasting

Not one to be a conspiracy theorist, but I've yet to find out on what basis the RDA of 150/250 mcg iodine ingestion is based on. It's my belief that this is the minimum amount required to prevent goiters and gestational mental retardation but not the optimum amount for brain and body health.

The Japanese people naturally ingest over 80 times that amount on average or 13 mg (13,000 mcg) from their seaweed. The FDA won't let you buy food in the US with that high of a concentration of iodine.

That's why I order this from Amazon and ingest 8 drops a day.

The only thing that has ever worked consistently and without building up a tolerance is Seroquel. Xanax works great but leaves me lethargic, and I'll keep having to increase the dose. I went off the Seroquel last year because I couldn't stand the side effects, but I miss consistently getting 8 hours per night.

Now that I'm off the Seroquel, I have to cycle through various options because none of them work well for more than a few days at a time. 10mg melatonin tabs work the best, a medical marijuana tincture is also helpful, and I still sometimes go for the Xanax when I'm struggling with bad anxiety. If I take something that doesn't work, I have magnesium and valerian supplements that will help. They're rarely enough on their own, though.

I tried the following for my sleep:

  • Magnesium

  • Magnesium L Threonate Capsules

I sleep like a baby and wake up refreshed. You can look into that and try it out. I sleep late like 11:55 pm and wake up around 6 am. Refreshed. Also my quality of sleep has improved by like 30%. Earlier I used to have difficulty sleeping even after doing exercise and not taking any caffeine after 10:00 am.

Uh ok... so i made some research on my own and found this:

https://www.amazon.com/NOW-Magnesium-Citrate-Powder-8-Ounce/product-reviews/B004189JCW

I just purchased 2 bottles, only to find out it was NOT "pure" Magnesium Citrate powder. I am a long time, and recurrent, purchaser of the magnesium citrate powder. I make my own capsules for easy ingestion. However, I noticed the powder was different this time, and when I tasted my latest purchase the exothermic reaction on my tongue was certainly enough to convince me. I highly suspect the stuff is actually sodium picosulfate/magnesium citrate, SPMC (I was a chemistry major, now a physician).
If the product is SPMC than putting it into capsules before ingestion can be dangerous, as there are case reports of stomach ulceration caused by the known exothermic reaction. If you dissolve it in water before ingestion then it should not harm you, as it is a well used laxative before colonoscopies in certain parts of the world.
However, I am disappointed in the manufacturer for changing their product, and marketing it as the same old "pure" stuff that I have come to know and love. It is NOT pure magnesium citrate powder!

So thats that... So yeah... Gym Beam (im sooory guys if i hurt your favourite brand- dont be so touchy feely) is probably the same case as written above.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/18557129/

Over the last several decades, our soil has been depleted of minerals and magnesium is the one listed the most.
Reading about magnesium, around 75% of humans are deficient of magnesium because there is simply not enough in our diets no matter what we eat.

That being said, Adderall and many many psychiatric drugs including high blood pressure meds deplete your body of valuable minerals... Again with magnesium being the one that is most prevalent.

Now you must keep in mind and you will have to research this on your own but there needs to be a balance of potassium, magnesium, sodium, and other minerals in our bodies for it to operate at full capacity.
Magnesium alone is responsible for over 300 co-factors of enzymes in our bodies.

https://ods.od.nih.gov/factsheets/Magnesium-HealthProfessional/

I am ADHD-PI and have been prescribed Adderall for approximately seven years now and this is from three different psychiatrist. I take one 30mg XR per day.

If you are truly ADHD/ADD there are several kinds of doctor prescribed medications that typically work well for ADULT ADHD, to focus and engage in lectures and staying in conversations without being distracted just to give you a small sample size of what amphetamines are capable of helping those with ADHD.
THEY HOWEVER DO NOT WORK FOR EVERYONE BECAUSE WE KNOW OUR BODY CHEMISTRIES ARE ALL DIFFERENT.

I truly believe without magnesium, fish oil, zinc, vitamin D, and vitamin C taken before bed each night to help empty your system of amphetamines... Adderall would not work after all the years I've taken it.
And to fully disclose, there are other supplements I take as well.

Adderall and Vyvanse do their jobs well for a large majority.

I tend to switch up the brands of magnesium I personally take AND I dose throughout the day and typically take 600-800mg each day...

And, the two I have bought most recently and are working very well for me and are extremely well absorbed in capsule form are the following two:

Yes, Cronometer is great. I track all my foods using it. I don't eat avocado often nor sunflower seeds, but I am able to get about 2000 mg potassium a day from chicken, vegetables, and nuts. You really don't need to absolutely hit the potassium recommend daily allowance. It really depends on how your body feels. I used lite-salt for the first week of keto and haven't used it since. You won't really know your needs until you try it.

If you really want to make sure you're getting your potassium, I don't see the problem with taking the 99mg tablets. Otherwise, there is potassium powder you can take, like this one. It's 1/8 tsp, put in a shot glass with some water, toss it back and chase it with something else.

I can see how not being able to cook all your own food can be limiting, so that is definitely something you'd have to decide for yourself.

The salt helps the most, but you need the others. You need 5,000 mg of sodium a day, measured out. Salting food doesn't come anywhere near that. The bouillon cubes are purely for the sodium, not the other nutrients. One cube/packet usually has around 2,500 mgs, thus two a day -- bone broth is not salted enough.

You can get magnesuim glycinate here on Amazon FR.

Thanks, how would I go about diluting such a solution to get the required dilution of something like this?

Should I use distilled water or something else?

Hi there Mr. Wiz! Any ROA will give you the “symptoms” after it’s built up enough in your system during your session. Last night I did more lines than I usually do. If my tweaker ass can remember to use my little fan, I don’t get that hot. Face is still oily after a certain point.

No clue, but I think the deal with smoking (at least for me), is I will just sit there and smoke and smoke and smoke and smoke. That’s where people get stuck with smoking. Plus it makes my high really raw and aggressive. Lines all day!!!

So yeah. Smoking will give you symptoms much faster because it is absorbed into your system much faster. It takes a 10+ hours for me to get to that spot with lines.

Best thing in the entire world for oily face is Dude Face Wipes - I’m super happy with mine. They have moisturizer in them and all the other crap. They smell amazing and are very handy in the summer in general. I would strongly encourage you to get them!!

Odor: Magnesium (specifically Citrate) and either Zinc or B vitamins. Magnesium will also give you the lovely benefit of substantially increasing the euphoria if you take the supplement every day. Below is what I order.

Amazon links: Magnesium Citrate $9.00 and/or Vitamin B Complex $7.49 and/or Zinc

Note: When Magnesium and Zinc are used together, it is supposed to increase the effect. And we should all be taking Vitamin B.

Hope all this helps!

More potassium.

[This stuff] from Amazon is amazing. Doesn't really taste like anything, dissolves in water nicely.

Start off with only 1/4^th teaspoon a day, though.

Mix it with a good amount of water. Gradually increase your intake.

Kelp is known to have a lot of iodine, and it's pretty cheap in supplement form. Lugol's if also popular: http://www.amazon.com/J-CROWS®-Lugols-Iodine-Solution-Twin/dp/B00E3B49R2

I make my own homemade 'gatorade'.

Water + Potassium Gluconate + Stevia.

The potassium gluconate is roughly the equivalent of 1 banana. Nothing extreme. I get plenty of salt thru diet so I don't find any need to add it to the mix. The stevia is just for a tiny bit of sweetness and flavor. The potassium is more or less flavorless but I like 1-2 drops of stevia for good measure.

As far as 'energy' drinks, I don't find them necessary. I have enough coffee and/or tea daily that I don't go out of the way to time it for a workout.

Can you help me with something? My grandmother wanted me to order magnesium for her, and I found this:

Magnesium Glycinate Chelate 450 mg - Magnesium Supplement in Chelated Form for High Absorption and Gentle Digestion, Non-GMO, Vegan, Gluten Free, Soy Free, 180 Capsules https://www.amazon.com/dp/B076J7BC6Z/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_p9OYAb65NJ2Z9

She wants whatever the "best" is and doesn't want oxide or citrate. Magnesium citrate makes her have to go. So I settled on glycinate, and it's hard to find than oxide or citrate. Is this a good option? Or there cheaper, similar brands on Amazon?

u/GravityDead · 1 pointr/fasting

If you don't mind, could you tell me if these products I've found on amazon are right or not?

Epsom Salt
Pottasium Chloride

Also, why is lemon/lime not recommended? Did I break my fasts by having one/two lemons a day!

To get an even number of grams of magnesium I started with 33 portions

33 grams of sodium = 81 grams of table salt

6.6 grams of potassium = 17.2 g potassium citrate

2 grams of magnesium = 13.3 g magnesium citrate

Then I looked at prices

$3.50/1000g of table salt (40% sodium)

$20/1000g of potassium citrate (38.3% potassium)

$19/1000g of magnesium citrate (15% magnesium)

So $42.50 (same price as 30 day supply of LMNT recharge) will get you...

400 portions of sodium

58 portions of potassium

75 portions of magnesium

So if you want to spend an afternoon up to your elbows in various white powder you'll get almost 2 months supply for the same price.(with salt and magnesium left over)

Prices were what came up here. YMMV:

in my personal experience, unless I was already sleep deprived, I could never sleep past like 4 hours.. From then on, it's restlessness with brief sleeps. I found a more bio-available form of magnesium than the one I used to take and it completely fixed my sleep issues single-handedly. My other trick when I wake up like 2-3 hours before i want to is to chug water. It sounds stupid but just try it. I typically drink 64oz before bed and another 32 ready on bed stand if I wake up.

2 things worth trying, goodluck!

What is your diet like? Are you female? And do you get outside much during the day?

You should be able to get b-vitamins and iron from meat and vitamin D from animal products and the sun. Lots of foods are fortified with these vitamins, too. You can cook in a cast iron skillet for iron. Floradix can bring up iron levels, too. b12 supplements. Vitamin D.

I'd try these in addition to iron rich food with vitamin C. Take on an empty stomach and wait 30 minutes before eating again. Once iron deficiency reaches a certain point, it can be difficult to correct with diet alone. I recommend supplementation with ferrous fumarate (30-33% elemental iron) as it has more elemental iron per mg than ferrous sulfate (20% elemental iron) and ferrous gluconate (12% elemental iron). Generally, polysaccharide complexes aren't as effective as ferrous salts.

You may end up needing these (and a LOT of water) to help counteract your high sodium levels

Godspeed. I believe in you.

That's great to hear! I've had a nice experience with Citrate too, although I think I liked Magnesium Malate more.

You said you use the NOW brand. I've seen many complaints in Amazon reviews that, for at least the recent year or so, the Magnesium Citrate powder by NOW doesn't dissolve well in water - a lot of it seems to sink to the bottom.

Have you noticed such a thing as well? Water solubility could be important for optimal absorption, so that's a possible concern.

No, I didn't. I mixed the perlite in with the coco peat and potting soil mix. I tried to give it a bit of a base lower in the pot then less firmly packed higher up.

Definitely some, but not as much as something like Fox Farms. Coco Peat is low in nutrients. The soil mix is comprised of Peat Moss, Wood Shavings, Composted Green Waste and Perlite. Next watering i'm just planning on using dechlorinated water

I have been using this potassium powder to supplement the extra 1000mg that we are recommended for keto. Most reviewers, myself included, find the powder near tasteless. I HATED drinking lite-salt in water, so this has been a real life saver. 1/2 tsp has 270mg of postassium. I just take 1 tsp spread out over a few times a day and I'm feeling good!

Excellent post.

At times, I do feel a bit depleted when taking adderall XR continuously. The only breaks I give the self are on Fridays and Saturdays. Sometimes, not even once! Only 2 or 3 per month.

I felt that Vitamin D was lacking, that helped a bit. It did not give me some narcoleptic feeling especially int he mornings. I then added Vitamin B, which seemed to fix the issue for long days. However, I did not suspect it to be magnesium.

When I take magnesium consecutively, the next days would feel quite different. 50% of the time, I will be tired, and 50% of the time (added with fish oil) I would feel high in libido.

I believe I get less brain fog when magnesium is in the system. H

Extremely helpful post.

I. What type of magnesium would you suggest I take first?

I have only been taking magnesium from nature made, as well as magnesium glycenate

II. What made you not take Vyvanse? Lately, I have been feeling a high push and then, it crashes down 40-60% of the time. I might not have been taking better sleep and brain fog usually happens if it is less than 6 hours (but funny enough, no brain fog if 4 hours and might be the bad cycles I wake up from). This time, with your suggestion, (and after 2-3 hours since breakfast) I have taken vitamin c, and magnesium. I feel quite better. I tend to just eat various foods before sleep, but I believe this might all be solved if I switched to Vyvanse, since I read that it does not really give you a push and this might mean no hard crashes or brain fogs. But I also heard it is less effective

I do realize the fish oil dosage is low, but honestly it's too much effort to carry around those giant capsules to take with every meal so I usually just take one at night after dinner. But if that could possibly help I guess I could find a way to work it in to my routine.

As for zinc, I've been using this which includes copper in it for reasons beyond my knowledge, but I don't think it noticeably cancels out the effects of the zinc:
