I get these. You should change your case every 30 days, so every year I buy 12 and write the month on the back with sharpie. All the extras that I get in lens solution and doctor visits end up going in travel bags for various other purposes.

u/format32 · 9 pointsr/Switch

From one old guy to another....These work well with my switch, laptop and desktop computer.

Have you considered any dietary changes to see if that may help? I say this with full understanding of how hard it can be, I have been cutting things out/experimenting with what works best for my various autoimmune conditions for the last 5 years.

I have been on an elimination diet called the Autoimmune Protocol for over a year now. I think cutting out all grains and soy is the best thing I’ve ever done for my health.

I also take a medication called cevemeline to increase tear and saliva production and it helps tremendously! I added a sea buckthorn oil supplement and it does seem to help, along with lots of preservative-free eye drops. My doctor recommends those because they have the added flax seed oil to help lubricate the eyes naturally.

I hope you find something that works for you, this disease is the worst! Sending big hugs <3

Thank you ♥️ my doses were as follows:
Month 1:
20mg
Month 2 & 3:
40mg
Month 4:
80mg

Luckily I never really popped my pimples so I never got deep scars; only hyperpigmentation. I avoid the sun like the plague so that's going away on its own.

Extremely SENSITIVE SKIN FRIENDLY :D

I should be taking fish oil for joint pain but I'm not lol

I'm in the minority that has to wear hard contacts (mine happens to be a scleral lens) so I'm posting my plan since you can't toss these like soft contacts and you usually only have one pair

It's relatively simple, I'm bringing in a hard contact lens remover, a simple contact lens case pre-filled with contact saline. I might bring in one of the sealed saline vials in with me. I plan to pop a squat somewhere to take out the contact into my lens case right before the sunset set that I attend or while I'm eating dinner

I'm not going to try and bring in the usual prescribed pH solution and disinfectant solution since that has to stay upright in the [disinfecting canister] (https://www.clearcaresolution.com/images/prod-triple-action.png) to work effectively (but you should do this everyday after you leave the festival grounds). I'm not planning on bringing in any eye drops

u/VerySuperGenius · 5 pointsr/Ultralight

Wow, I wasn't expecting this large of response, thank you.

Backpack

  • I'll probably just go ahead and do this. Every time I ask for help, people always say to dump this rain cover.

    Tent/Sleep

  • The only extra bag in the tent bag is the one for the stakes. I just weighed it. It's only 2g, might as well keep it.
  • It's a ProLite Large. It is very bulky and heavy. I'm waiting on a good deal on a large XLite. I tried a Z Lite and it didn't seem like a good fit for me.

    Cooking

  • This is a very cheap cooking set. It's a .5 L and 1 L pot set.
  • I've split the fuel and cannister on the list.

    Tools

  • I'm on the fence about the Platypus vs just carrying 2 Smart water bottles. I'll probably end up with the bottles. EDIT: I'm getting rid of the Platypus. Going with plastic bottles.
  • I'm not even sure what's in the first aid kit, I'll probably end up making my own that weighs a bit less.
  • I wear contacts. The glasses would be a backup in case my eyes get irritated. I may buy one of these. Seems like a good option.
  • The bear bagging kit includes the bag(48g), 50 foot of cord (51g), rock bag (3g), mini carabiner (2g)
  • Fixed trekking poles, forgot to put as worn. Thanks

    Clothing

  • I split the clothing categories.
  • My only concern with extra clothes is having clothes to wear in town while washing them. I planned to just swap clothing sets every time I hit a town.
  • You're probably right on leaving the balaclava. I've just heard of it getting really cold and windy when you're up above 12,000 feet.
  • Added the down jacket to the "To-buy" list.
  • I really like my rain jacket. It works perfectly.

    Electronics

  • I'd like to use my phone for navigation and as entertainment at the end of the day (books). There is going to be a few 6 day stretches between towns on the CT so I'd like to be sure that I'll have enough battery to get me through.

    Missing

  • I've been told that the Colorado Trail is very well marked so I'm sure I can get by with my phone and data book (I added the data book to the tools section).
  • I have the bear can but I'm not sure I'll even get a permit so I'm not bothering making a list.
  • The cold weather gear is for the CT. Will definitely look into lightening up on my down jacket though.

Thanks a lot for the info. I'll definitely take this all into consideration.

These are pretty trendy right now, just search "circle wire frame glasses" or some other combination of those words. Eyebuydirect has several options from like $25-35 if you want prescription glasses. If you just want the frames you have plenty of options – Forever 21 for $6 (they're probably pretty much unisex even though they're shown on a woman), Amazon for $9, H&M for $10, etc

u/KaiHein · 3 pointsr/functionalprint

Not OP, but I used to use that style of contact lens storage and each of those tubes holds a pair of contacts in them. The A and B would either be because they are different prescriptions for different uses or because they swap back and forth on some sort of schedule for whatever reason.

Here is a link to the best picture of these I could find on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Clear-Care-Cleaning-Disinfecting-Travel/dp/B00FDXACA2/. One or both of the blue and white sides is marked with an R or L. The gray gear looking thing on the bottom does something (reacts with the soaking solution, I think) and I think got replaced periodically, but it has been a long time since I have used that style case so I am a bit fuzzy on the specifics.

edit - Found this listing that has more pictures better showing lens holder looks outside of the tube: https://www.amazon.com/Mosuch-Plastic-Contact-Cleaning-Lenses/dp/B01MZ4OD3I/ If you zoom in you can barely make out the "R" on the one side. Could also just be that my work laptop's monitor is not the best and that is obvious on something better.

any of you guys know where i can cop frames like these but for prescription lenses?

u/YouareMrRobot · 3 pointsr/Futurology

Here you go: http://www.amazon.com/Instant-20-Adjustable-Glasses/dp/B00GM01TMA there are others like this which could maybe help depending on blindness level. Also, water glasses.

Any without preservatives, personally I like clear eyes multi symptom preservative free eye drops because you can buy them in a whole bottle instead of single use vials, plus it's only like 8$ off amazon

Phenylephrine might do it, but I don't believe you'll be able to get it in eyedrop form without some ability to prescribe it.

this might be able to do it. I'd recommend against it as the dilation usually causes photosensitivity, and is painful.

u/smackythefrog · 2 pointsr/3DS

Alcohol can be corrosive but it seems others use it with no issues. I bought some Zeiss lens cleaner spray for the screens I own like my phone, 3DS, iPad, laptop, etc. It's worked well.

Edit: Sorry, didn't link originally. It is alcohol free.

I stopped wearing my glasses, they are plaatic frames as well. They went past my ears and at the sightest lowering of my head they would slide to the end of my nose. Bought these(7$) and also some nose grips(on amazon 10$), glasses fit great, makes me want to wear them again. Hope this helps.

I got the drops and eye wipes from Amazon.
Refresh Optive Mega-3 Lubricant Eye Drops, 30 Single-Use Containers, 0.01 Fl Oz, 30 Count https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074ZHK96H/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_.UaDDbJW98AK3

OCuSOFT Lid Scrub Original, Pre-Moistened Pads, 30 Count https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000PY15I2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_UVaDDbJ0R29AV

What I like about the drops is they do not make your vision blurry like the gel or moisturizing drops. I’ve tried many brands of drops by the way.

These are called "prism glasses," you can order them online.

Here is one example.

I hate sitting at my desk. I just ordered these to use my laptop in bed:

I’ll let you know how it goes.

That's what this is for. That and titanium/flexon frames with scratch/shatter resistant lenses.

u/dandv · 1 pointr/DSPD

I've looked through the top 3 items listed on that sleepxp site, and they're all quite inferior to others on Amazon:

  • Blue Light Blocking Glasses Inside| Blue Blockers by Eye Love only blocks 30% of blue light and are designed for all-day and outdoor wear, while OP mentioned working late
  • Cyxus have clear lenses and again, don't block as much as other brands, but perhaps would be easier to disguise by OP. However, Prospek are also clear and have better ratings.
  • Twilight has many reviewers mentioning they break easily

I don't know how that list was compiled.

Far better reviewed on Amazon are the Swannies, the Spectra479 (including these clip-ons), or these $20 fit-overs.

It’s called stenosis of the spin and you can correct it with exercise/PT and making sure you get and maintain good posture. Also I got these bc I read a lot and it actually helps 🤓

Yep! These are the ones I got. I liked the clear lenses better because they don't really mess with colors.

Unwind By Neal S. Copying the summary bc I can't explain it well... It's a fiction thriller

Publisher's Summary

In a society where unwanted teens are salvaged for their body parts, three runaways fight the system that would "unwind" them.

Conner's parents want to be rid of him because he's a troublemaker. Risa has no parents and is being unwound to cut orphanage costs. Lev's unwinding has been planned since his birth, as part of his family's strict religion. Brought together by chance, and kept together by desperation, these three unlikely companions make a harrowing cross-country journey, knowing their lives hang in the balance. If they can survive until their 18th birthdays, they can't be harmed - but when every piece of them, from their hands to their hearts, are wanted by a world gone mad, 18 seems far, far away.

And gonna come back to edit wirh my wl item

If you can't find a shop anywhere might be quicker to expidite mail order via Amazon these adjustable ones until you get home to order real ones if you're visiting. There's a slight possibility a local store, like Walmart/Target may sell this. http://smile.amazon.com/Adjustable-Eyeglasses-Variable-Prescription-Technology/dp/B01BTY2BDO/ref=sr_1_2_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1464382546&sr=8-2&keywords=adjustable+glasses

The other thing you could do is if you can wear contact lenses most eye doctors keep those in stock so you can get those immediately. For contact lenses you can go to an eye doc at like Walmart, get the prescription then buy the contacts at Costco if you have a membership there as it's cheaper that way.

u/Tyrantkv · 1 pointr/oculus

This is the link to the one I got costs a lot less. Simichrome 390050 All Metal Polish Tube - 1.76 oz. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0002YUQ4E/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_W.vKAbHYWEWSK

And here's the exact lens cleaner spray. Set of 2 Carl Zeiss Lens Cleaning Spray 2oz - 60ml Travel Pack https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JFD6KAW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_8bwKAbYQA3VMW

A couple things that I've read here that I want to clear up. The fresnal ridges are not on the side of the lens that you look through, they are on the other side so you're not sanding that down you're sanding down a side that is supposed to be smooth. If the scratches on your lens are not visible in the hmd then obviously you don't *need to do anything, unless you're like me and just can't stand scratches.

Proceed with caution but a pro tip - it doesn't matter. You'll be happier after the scratches are gone. Also get yourself a small thumb sized led flashlight. You can hold it in near the lenses to better see the scratches. Enjoy the clarity...

Can get a band that goes on the ear pieces and around the back of your head. Should tighten, but if it doesn't just use a rubber band or a binder clip. Try to find something like this

This isn't a full solution, and probably only for work.
