If you want protection, but also looks and grip, I'd definitely take a look at a UAG case. They're a tad pricey but offer amazing protection, Look really great, and drastically improve grip/handling

-Cutout for IR blaster

-Good button clickeyness (tactile response)

-Includes a decent screen protector

-Comes in 5 color variants (navy blue, white, black, orange, and clear)

-Has a flat back, so it feels and looks thicker than most cases would, but it won't rock on a flat surface

9/10 for looks

9.5/10 for protection

9/10 for functionality (button response, port access...)

Alternatives:

Incipio Dualpro (I own one, 7/10 looks, 7/10 protection, 8/10 functionality)

Incipio Feather (I own one, 9/10 looks, 3/10 protection, 8/10 functionality)

Poetic Atmosphere (I own one, 8/10 looks, 6/10 protection, 8/10 functionality)

Spigen Slim Armour (do not own one. Excellent ratings, cheaper than UAG)

You can definitely get a original Pebble for £50, (not including VAT probably).

I love my Steel version of the original, and the timeline update (yours will ship with it installed) is fantastic.

The SanDisk Sansa was my go to device for a few years. I tend to push mp3 players past their limits because I run daily. Switched over to a Diver mp3 player and it's now my fav player. It's main benefit - waterproof.

I sweat a lot and sometimes run in the rain - this thing is a champ. Plus, it connects to a computer as a USB drive - nice and simple.

I swear by the Skullcandy 50/50 model, but I wish they would make a bluetooth pair. I just bought a pair of refurb Powerbeats 2 and they suck...way to much bass. I'll probably give the beats to my wife.

Here's an Amazon link to the 50/50:

All the emulators have easily configurable game controller layouts, and I'm sure the controller is cheap on eBay.

I'm not sure about third-party replacements, and I wouldn't recommend it.

To be honest with you, I'd take it back to the store and ask for a refund. If you're in Australia and it's under warranty period, you have right to do this. Then perhaps buy a better android phone. The galaxy s5 was not robust in my experience.

Alternatively, take a look at the fusso oleo phobic coating you can buy online and reapply it on the screen yourself and I presume it's higher quality than the one Samsung uses.

http://www.amazon.com/Worlds-Fingerprint-Oleophobic-Coating-SmartPhone/dp/B008H2GFUW - that's the coating and it's available on different stores for different countries and there are other alternatives. You can also buy the slightly more expensive tablet version if you want a bigger bottle for reapplications ;)

There are these available which aren't too bulky if you have a case for the tablet/phone.

There's several others, but here are a few examples.

Cables from Deal Extreme and eBay

I bought the official Nexus charger due to the magnets, I have it propped up so I can see the screen with out picking it up. But there are cheaper ones available.

Look what I just found Amazing phone but camera is sub-par and there is no flash. Still cheaper than the Nexus 5.

u/smurfhunter99 · 3 pointsr/AndroidMasterRace

No I'm not getting a case for it, it's too comfortable to put a case on for me. I'm getting this (G4 version). They also have NFC so you don't have to worry about losing that.

u/_quantum · 1 pointr/AndroidMasterRace

You could always jerry-rig one of those bluetooth receivers to the aux jack... We did it for my mom's old minivan and just taped the loose cords down.

Features NFC, too... Still gotta be able to show off a little.

honest question: are you trolling?

I have no idea, how you could've read the text, that you've just quoted, and still think that flash storage somehow works "like paper"

let me break it down for you, so you can understand........ELI5:

flash storage are maaaaany different small disks
small disks can write veeeery fast
but small disks also get broken, after writing a looooot of times
hurts
cheap disks get broken faaaaast
expensive disks get broken sloooow
but, there is good news:
if one disk dies, others are still there to work
yaaay
but they are not as fast as before :'-(

And now ELI17 (which is probably your actual age):

You've just quoted, that there are different types of flash storages, that have different PE cycles (according to the manufacturer)....so you understand that there is a quality difference in flash storage

I think your problem is, that you think 100000 PE cycles lasts for 1000 years or something.....

First of all: the flash storage that you buy from the store (in any shape or form) isn't the same as device manufacturers use as components for their devices. Especially when we're talking about embedded systems (you think they put a Samsung SSD inside their smartphones? They don't!) manufacturers want to save money, and therefore usually go for the rock bottom cheapest option they can get. (just like they use the shittiest reject fruit to put into jelly)

And secondly: A PE cycle doesn't mean that something gets deleted off of the disk, whenever you uninstall an app or delete a music file. An operating system that works entirely on a flash storage is constantly writing and deleting files! Every time you leave an app in Android, (and the onStop() method of the activity is called), the app gets cached on the storage to free up ram (DRAM)

therefore you have hundreds or even thousands of delete operations every day, especially with TRIM enabled.

-----

Don't be a retard. Either fully read the links I've provided, or just stop arguing about something you know absolutely nothing about. Don't just Ctrl+F through an article to find signs for things that vaguely sound like they'd make your argument. And stop claiming that flash storage is like paper. I'm usually a big fan of analogies, but I have no idea where you pulled this one out - especially because it doesn't make any sense

if you're actually interested in this subject matter.....I purchased this book, when I was studying computer science:

http://www.amazon.com/Computer-Organization-Design-Fifth-Edition/dp/0124077269/ref=dp_ob_title_bk (this is the newest edition, I have an older one)

it's a pretty good point of reference for understanding how computer hardware works. it is very dry though

>So? And when you build a pc you'll have to buy a decent keyboard + mouse which will also cost atleast $55-60 (If you get a relatively cheap one)

http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Wireless-Combo-MK270-Keyboard/dp/B00BP5KOPA/ref=lp_1194464_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1417762955&sr=1-1

>and if you'd want those games they would cost the same on pc too. Yeah you can buy older games on the pc but that doesnt make the games "cheaper", because they cause the same on both.

Remember that $10-15 charge from Microsoft and sony? It doesnt exist on PC. Borderlands TPS is $40 right now, Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor went on sale for $30 last week, and some other deals. They do not cost the same, and there are far more and better games to play on PC anyway.

>Oh, you mean the red ring of death, the rare issue that only happened to 1 version of a console in history?

"Worldwide 78.2 million units [6] as of September 30, 2013[7" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_360_sales

>Please explain to me what would happen to a hard-working pc without the proper cooling.

The processor would probably be the thing heating up excessively (which they almost never do, especially if you arent overclocking), and it would reduce it's voltage to get the temperatures back down, or force shutdown if it couldnt regulate it's temperature.

>Hint: it would fail too, and you'd have to throw it out if the motherboard or cpu get fried.

It's kind of hard to fry things. Ive seen people try to destroy their computers via overclocking and the PC will read out over 300 degrees before it shuts down, and it will still boot up about 5mins later. It would not fail because there are lots of failsafes on much more expensive processors. What really kills the Xbox is that it uses an APU, where the GPU and CPU are on the same chip. This concentrates all of the heat into one very small spot and if there's ever an issue it becomes a huge issue.

>PS: The correct reason to play on a console: Opinion and personal preference.

Please explain what the opinion is and why someone might prefer it.
