Here it is

EDIT: This first link I posted sold out, here's another one you cat fiends.

EDITA NUMBAH 2: Let's just clean out the whole damn site, second link is almost depleted so here's another.

YTA if you do it.

Look into what declawing actually does to a cat. It's basically if you were to chop off the first joint of your fingers.

ETA: And back once I hunted down a link to a particular product. I'm not recommending that particular brand, but claw caps like that are much better for your cat.

u/SilverishSilverfish · 79 pointsr/news

Rubber caps are a great solution as well.

I use these caps on my cat and they work really well. They're just rubber caps you put on their nails so they can't really do much damage. In my experience, they stay on for a few months before naturally falling off.

It's find to post links. You can't post *affiliate* links, which are links that have identifier bits in them and someone makes $ when you purchase using that link.

u/Micro_ID_DO · 8 pointsr/ragdolls

I’m going to copy-paste a previous comment I posted elsewhere on having a few things for rag doll kittens.

Everyone will tell you about food, litter, water, etc. But you will want a few other fun things. Get a long piece of 1/2” thick ribbon for your cat can chase. Mine LOVE ribbons and will run til they fall over. Buy a few scratching posts to put up around the house; mine don’t claw the furniture if they have enough posts. A cat tree gives them a place to call their own (and get away from my small children). We over-indulged.

Both our ragdolls like being brushed, but my girl will flop over and let me brush her for a full half-hour with this one. Fave cat brush. Now that our ragdolls are full grown, we give them a full fur-cut every year because their butt-fur gets so long that stool will stick to it (and track around the house) so be warned.

The healthiest cat treats generally have >70% protein, so I like these ones best.

There is always more to think of, but these are some more indulgent ideas.

We put soft caps on our kitties' claws to save our furniture. One of our cats has definitely caught a mouse or two with them on. There are various brands and colors you can find on amazon; they all seem to work the same. The caps don't bother our cats.

I use this and it works pretty well! The bonus of this is that you don't have something to "use up" like with lint roller sheets. It's re-usable!

Edit: wow, I just saw the price. Some people in the reviews recommended this. I actually bought the Pledge one after it was discontinued, I called them directly and ordered an entire box of them, haha. It wasn't very expensive, IIRC.

u/[deleted] · 6 pointsr/Pets

I adopted both my cats. My older one was 5 when I got him and fully declawed in all four paws. I wish he wasn't.

I got my other cat at 8 weeks and decided not to declaw her. It's been fine. She loves this kind of scratcher so much that I didn't even have to train her on it. The only issues I've had are some scratches on my hands when I play with her or when she rides around on my back (as she loves to do...in fact she's sitting there now) and she's taken to using one of my dressers as a scratching board. But, frankly, that's my fault because I don't mind either the scratches or the damage the dresser, so I don't trim her claws and I haven't trained her not to use the dresser. And any scratches on me are accidental--she does truly seem to try to avoid scratching me. She knows that no (thick) clothing on my back means she has to retract her claws while she rides around, otherwise she loses back-riding privileges.

Also, when I did care about trimming her claws it was super easy. Just get her used to being trimmed young and she'll probably be totally fine with it.

Additionally, I feel better knowing she has claws in case she ever accidentally gets outside (knock on wood). I don't want to leave my cats defenseless.

As for the kids, at some point they need to learn that some cats have claws. I mean, obviously try not to let her scratch, but explain to them that she's pointy and she can accidentally hurt them. I don't think that's unreasonable, especially if we're not talking about kids that live with you.

Ninja edit: Also, there are sooo many alternatives to declawing these days. Claw caps, different trimming systems, etc. It just seems unnecessary.

u/The_Minstrel_Boy · 6 pointsr/todayilearned

Maybe your cat is too aggressive to even try this, but have you considered using claw caps? My cat is pretty free with her claws, and these things work beautifully at keeping my skin unscathed.

Also...it could be possible that your cat is allergic to her food...?

u/kvossera · 4 pointsr/Eyebleach

That answer depends on the cat, the time of day, and the person interacting with them. The male follows me around just about everywhere, he loves being near me. The black female can be insane doing parkour around my room when she wants to go out at night / early morning, yet will demand that I cuddle her and pet her the way she wants for a couple minutes then dashes away only to come back to lay down beside me for hours. The calico can be pretty antisocial tho she will follow my spawn around because she likes the way the spawn pets her, but if I pull out the cat lick brush she will follow me around demanding I brush her.

So to answer your question..... they are all crazy and they are all loving.

Sure! Back when It was really bad, I took Aerius once a day. If on a day, my symptoms were really bad, I would take a benadryl. I didn't like taking them because they made me woozy and incoherent. It really works for severe allergy symptoms. I really wish they made a non-drowsy version.

An air purifier will help immensely. Get one with a HEPA filter- this is what you will need the most. Check out something like these. Read the reviews before you buy a purifier to see if it fits your needs, if you do buy one.

Mix an Omega-3 supplement into the food that your cats eat. I know this sounds a little gross, but oh wow is it worth it regarding shedding and dander. I suggest this one. Your cats may take a while to start eating it without fussing, but I found it was worth it. I feed them dry food, put the liquid on the food and shake the food around in the bowl until it covers all of the food. If you feed them wet food, I imagine it would work just by mixing it in when you're preparing it.

If you're up to being able to handle and brush your cats, purchase a Furminator (short hair, long hair). Make sure you get it from a reputable source, because there are fake ones that will actually hurt your cats because they aren't designed the same way as the real ones. Basically, how it works is that instead of just brushing the hair and grabbing already loose hairs, it removes undercoat hair (where I find most of my short haired cat's shedding occurs). If you have both short and longhaired cats, I've read that the longhair one also works on shorthair cats. YMMV. It's a bit more expensive, but it's worth it and you won't ever use a different brush. You've probably seen the "we brushed our (insert animal here) today and look what we got! The first time you brush your cats with it, the pile of hair will probably be so large you'll be wondering when you adopted another cat. I do not kid!

Pick up wipes like these and wipe your kitties with them. They're safe for your cat and will remove dander and saliva (what sets allergies off) from the coat.

Lastly, you probably already do this, but keep your house really clean. Vacuum a ton (make sure you have a vacuum that gets deep into your carpets if you have carpets). Vacuum your couches, chairs, carpets- anything that you can't sweep basically. And sweep! Gets rid of that cat dander. (I can't say I follow this advice constantly... I'm a bit lazy. But when I do do it, I notice my allergies go down.) Make sure you change your bedsheets and wash your blanket often as well.

After handling your cats, or brushing- basically anything where you could have their dander, hair, or saliva on you, wash your hands. This will help with itchy eyes etc.

Okay, whew. I don't even know how to tl;dr this. Maybe:

tl;dr: doing all of these will curb your allergies considerably and you will still be able to enjoy your feline company!

The simplest way is to take her to a professional groomer and have them do it while you watch. You can ask them for advice while they're doing it. Also just my personal preference but I like using a grinder instead of clippers on my dog. This is the one I use https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01IPW47BW/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1. It's wireless and rechargeable. The head is diamond encrusted so it should last for years. Plus it's quiet. I find grinders are safer to use than clippers.

Hi! My husband and I put these caps on our cats a few times. They didn't really like it. I haven't attempted to paint their nails, yet.

Any pics of your kitty? I love kitties!

u/officer_nofun · 3 pointsr/guineapigs

Poor baby! I live in New England and outside in March is no place for a piggy! We use this nail grinder for our girls, quick and easy trims with no bleeding quicks. It takes two people (one to hold and one to trim) for us, but I think our girls are exceptionally naughty about nail trims.

You can always get some of these until you're comfortable putting him in the bath.

Also you're awesome for taking him in!

A picture with you wearing shoes and a dress shirt would have helped a little though, but...

-- The sleeves need to come up quite a bit.

-- Shoulders look good, and it seems to fit assuming there isn't too much excess room in the chest area.

-- Jacket is a LITTLE short, but that's acceptable. I'm a shorter dude so I also prefer a shorter jacket.

-- Pants DEFINITELY need to be hemmed

-- Can you get away with the shoes? yeah, you can. you aren't wearing an ill-fitting rented tux so you'll already be doing better than half the guys there

-- Are the shoes your best option? definitely not. plain black cap toes would be a better alternative, and you'd probably get more mileage out of them if you buy quality

-- Shirt color? White. Spread or semi-spread color. If you have the budget, buy a quality dress shirt and you'll get a lot of mileage out of it.

-- Black necktie. Keep it simple and learn how to tie a proper half-windsor or full-windsor knot and you'll look awesome

-- DON'T WEAR A BOW TIE. A bow tie would only make sense if you were wearing a full tuxedo, wearing one with a black suit makes it look like you're trying to trick people into thinking you're wearing a tuxedo.

-- Cat? Don't give her a bath. Use cat wipes. I use these on my cat and she doesn't seem to mind!

We put nail caps on our cat. They come off every so often but then we just put new ones back on. I don't agree with declawing but I know that some cats can be little terrors.

I have this.

If your dog is fearful of his paws being touched, you will need to countercondition him with the grinder. It does make a buzzing noise that can be very weird to many dogs.

What I'm doing:

  • I touch my Shibas feet and teeth a LOT. While she's sleeping, if she's playing with something, when we're training, etc.
  • I left it on the ground and gave my Shiba treats for touching it. I get really excited when she paws at it though. I did this when it was turned off first, and later did it while it was turned on.
  • I recently got to her letting me touch her feet with it off. I essentially give her a treat and touch her feet with it while saying "yes!" when she doesn't pull her feet away. You can later do this while it's turned on.

You eventually want to get to a point that your dog is not scared of it being near their nails to be ground down. Haven't tried to trim her nails yet, but will be getting there soon!
u/Krispyz · 2 pointsr/dogs

I was dumb and bought one of the pet-specific ones. Something like this. It was worthless. I could trim maybe two nails before I had to charge it again and it took so long because it didn't have a lot of power to it. Then I just went ahead and bought a normal cordless dremel. My dog actually tolerates it much better because it takes so much less time. After several months of trying to get her comfortable with me trimming her nails with a clipper, the dremel was so easy!

I'd wear a jacket in case he tries to nip. It also helps to have two people (one to restrain rabbit, one to clip).

Some people also choose to file their rabbits nails using a dremel. It's a slower process, but for some rabbits stresses them out less. https://www.amazon.com/Dremel-7300-PT-4-8V-Nail-Grooming/dp/B003TU0XG4/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1540144457&sr=8-3&keywords=pet+nail+grinder+for+dogs

Just brush. You'll be surprised how much fur you remove. You may need to get him adjusted to being brushed. Lots of positive reinforcement and treats can help. My cat doesn't like being brushed but she tolerates it. I do it in short sessions and give her lots of praise for being a good girl while I do it. I brushed three handfuls of fur off her today. :)

There are many kinds of brushes. I use ones like these and they work well: 1 and 2.

This kind of rubber brush is awesome at removing fur from blankets, cushions, carpets, and other fabrics.

Vacuuming and sweeping frequently helps too.

Still, I keep lint rollers at home, in the car, and at work. Cat hair just gets everywhere.

No need to bathe unless it's a hairless cat or he gets dirty.

You could be talking about my dog. My senior beagle was shedding so much that I swept CONSTANTLY. You could see the hair drift off him as he walked over the clean floor. Immediately after using the rubber brush! It was crazy. How did he have any fur left on him?

The vet tested him. He was well, especially for his age. The vet tech talked to me about it possibly being a food allergy, even though I felt in my heart it wasn't. I'd chosen his excellent food very deliberately. But this was just nuts. So, I switched to a good quality low ingredient food, which he doesn't like as much but he will eat (cuz he's a beagle!) For years I've been adding green beans to his food. I switched it up a bit and began alternating with carrots, peas (canned, no salt added), or a couple chopped up berries. I think those little things helped with the transition to new food.

And we switched from the red curry comb to a shed reducing brush like this one. If you get one, be sure to be gentle with it. You don't want to hurt your baby. We do still use the curry comb occasionally because he likes it.

It's been three months and our beagle sheds a normal ridiculous beagle amount. It's at least half as much as he used to. I'm not sure which of these things, or combination, worked. Good luck to you. The struggle is real!

Wooooo okay! Here's 1-20, and I will give the bonus ones a go in just a few minutes! fear cuts deeper than swords

1.) Something that is grey. How about a knife set?!

2.) Something reminiscent of rain. Cinema Paradiso! The cover of it is two people in the rain :) (Movies wishlist)

3.) Something food related that is unusual. This Manatea infuser is unusual! (Default wishlist)

4.) Something on your list that is for someone other than yourself. Tell me who it's for and why. (Yes, pets count!) I have a pet wishlist and a wishlist for my best friend! This traveling litter box is the perfect combination--it's so I can take my kitty on trips to my best friend's place! (Kitty wishlist)

5.) A book I should read! I am an avid reader, so take your best shot and tell me why I need to read it! Why have just one book when you could have 3000?! This little usb is loaded with over 3000 classic novels. Yes, almost all of these novels are free on Project Gutenberg, but having them all in one spot ready for you to peruse is amazing. You're almost guaranteed to find a book worth reading that you haven't read yet! (Books wishlist)

6.) An item that is less than a dollar, including shipping... that is not jewelry, nail polish, and or hair related! Well, not a physical item, but I have an mp3! (Music wishlist)

7.) Something related to cats. I love cats! (keep this SFW, you know who you are...) Kitty nail caps! I have a sphynx, so I have to clip her nails roughly every week (otherwise when she scratches herself, she cuts herself up D:). Nail caps are a cute and more hassle-free way of dealing with her claws! (Kitty wishlist)

8.) Something that is not useful, but so beautiful you must have it. This one is pretty tough for me, actually--I love purposeful items! However, I already have a cheese grater, so this hedgehog shaped one isn't actually something I NEED--it's just so cool!! (Default wishlist)

9.) A movie everyone should watch at least once in their life. Why? Life is Beautiful. It's a sweet, touching, and heartbreaking story of a Jewish father trying to keep the joy in life in a concentration camp. It's laugh-out-loud funny, and so sad you'll cry. Definitely worth watching. (Movies wishlist)

10.) Something that would be useful when the zombies attack. Explain. Packaged, high-cal foods will be really helpful! You have to keep your energy up while you're on the run, and you need a portable snack! These cookies are sure to give you the extra boost you need to escape the zombies. (Default wishlist)

11.) Something that would have a profound impact on your life and help you to achieve your current goals. Hmmm this is a toss-up for me. I need a laptop for life. I have a little chromebook, but when I need to update my resumes and write cover letters, I need to go to the library to use an actual computer to make sure the formatting is right. A laptop would help with the job hunt and (hopefully) help land me a job! (Expensive things wishlist) My other goal, to become healthier, would be helped by wrist weights to wear during my runs! No, it's not a huge amount of weight, but it will make my runs that much more difficult and help tone my arms! It's a small change with a big impact :) (Default wishlist)

12.) One of those pesky Add-On items. Oh gosh, take your pick. Cat snuggie (kitty wishlist), sriracha (who doesn't love hot sauce?! Under $6 wishlist), a pumice stone (Under $6 wishlist), or a kitty laser toy! (kitty wishlist)

13.) The most expensive thing on your list. Your dream item. Why? A $500 keyboard. I love playing piano, but I'm a young and flighty thing--I fully expect to be moving around a lot for the next 5-10 years, and I can neither afford an actual piano, nor can I imagine transporting one in and out of various apartments. This keyboard will give me the chance to practice and enjoy playing, but it's a much more compact and liveable way of doing so. (Expensive things wishlist)

14.) Something bigger than a bread box. A relatively cheap and yet still nice vacuum cleaner! Nice, easy to use, and practical :) (Expensive things)

15.) Something smaller than a golf ball. A storm trooper USB! Cute and practical! (Default wishlist)

16.) Something that smells wonderful. Lavender chamomile bubble bath! I don't know about you, but few things smell more relaxing to me than lavender and chamomile, so a combo bubble bath just sounds like bliss to me. (Default wishlist)

17.) A (SFW) toy. Here's a whole bag of toys! And less than $10 too! My kitty would have a field day with all those toys :) (Kitty wishlist!)

18.) Something that would be helpful for going back to school. A lunch box! I always brought my lunch to school, so every year I got a cool new lunch box for that year :) These ones are super cute, and insulated! (Default wishlist)

19.) Something related to your current obsession, whatever that may be. I've had a life-long Disney obsession! (Movies wishlist) My whole bathroom is Mickey themed (default wishlist), and I'm always looking for cool new Disney items to add to my wishlist! I seriously love Disney.

20.) Something that is just so amazing and awe-inspiring that I simply must see it. Explain why it is so grand. You too can own the Sword of Gryffindor! (Expensive things wishlist) Not only do you get to wield the weapon that destroyed three pieces of Voldemort's soul, it's also pretty practical! It's a letter opener that you can proudly display resting in the hands of a lion :) (Expensive things wishlist)

I've been using this one primarily for my golden: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0167AVKCI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 . The smell lasts a long time and I rather like it and it makes him so soft and fluffy.

u/VentiPuppuccino · 2 pointsr/Frenchbulldogs

Ah, I found my original source: [(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TxBcXEQeCkM)]
Looks like their original reasoning was that lighter frenchies can have double coats, but they've since posted a correction video and now say some simply have thicker coats than others. So....I guess it's really up in the air.

To be slightly more helpful, this is the brush I use on my little guy. A lot cheaper than similar brushes I could find in stores and it does some serious de-shedding. [(https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DM1DDBW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1)]

Good luck, and hang in there with your fluffy frenchie :)

u/Pasteque · 2 pointsr/Allergies

I don't have cat allergies myself so I can't attest to this personally, but I've heard that using bath wipes in addition to brushing helps.

u/silver_wheel · 2 pointsr/Rabbits

The Hair Buster is our go-to comb for our short and mixed hair buns. Wouldn't recommend it for lionheads or woolies. One of ours is a single mane lionhead, so I only use this brush on her short coat, and use a simple comb on her mane to prevent mats.

For clippers, we use generic small kitty clippers like these with comfy handles (we have a couple, since I tend to misplace them). A small LED flashlight is helpful too, if their nails are dark and hard to see through to find the quick.

u/M3FTW · 1 pointr/corgi

The ones curi posted is good for clothes. For furniture, I recommend the chomchom. It works great on my cloth couches between vacuums.

Have they tried having air purifiers/hepa filters in the bedroom/living room and using this to wipe the cat? https://www.amazon.com/Earthbath-Natural-Hypo-Allergenic-Fragrance-Free-Wipes/dp/B001ANBV7W/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1464819793&sr=8-1&keywords=cat%20allergy%20wipes

Just in case...that's what my friend's husband use and he's SUPER allergic to cats

u/cookiepusss · 1 pointr/Pets

I have a bully cat too, try putting these on the bad cat. I know my new cat would've been hurt by the resident cat if I hadn't put these one (he's declawed).

Also, did you keep them separate and do the standard slow intro?

u/toominty · 1 pointr/aww

You might want to try wipes or this one to reduce the dander, which is usually the cause of cat allergies.

u/Clomojo87 · 1 pointr/lifehacks

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Earthbath-Hypo-Allergenic-Cat-Wipes-Pack/dp/B001ANBV7W there's specially formulated wipes for this I would recommend. They're inexpensive and good pet shops sell them. Also you can buy mitts that contain the formula so it's like stroking but with the cleaning agent on. The cat thinks they're having a cuddle rather than a wash. Don't use home remedies. My vet only suggests warm salt water for cleaning wounds & I wouldn't put that near their eyes. Cleaning wipes are good for fur & build ups if your pet is unable to wash themselves correctly.

u/LorenTaylor0025 · 1 pointr/AustralianShepherd

Ive been using this shampoo

I don’t wash her more than once a week. Usually on Saturdays, if she gets dirty in between baths I will do either a rinse or use a puppy wipe.

u/bthirsty · 1 pointr/CherokeeXJ

Do you know those silicone pet brushes that are gloves? They will pull it all out with ease. I can't upload a picture to imgur, some reason it's not going past 'pending..' but this is what I'm talking about.

u/Binxington · 1 pointr/femalefashionadvice

The furminator seems to be less tolerable then other brushes I use on them. The other ones I own have this type of bristle.

u/skyblueandblack · 1 pointr/cats

Lol my magic tool is one of those rubber mitts, similar to this. They hate it being used on them, but damn if it isn't effective.

I just like being able to wash off the oil and dirt that ends up building up after awhile.

u/wheelfoot · 1 pointr/cats

Nothing gets out the undercoat on Gunther like the Furminator for long hair. It really helps with all my cats. Well worth the $. For matting though, it might not work that well. I'd use something like this pin brush for that. This glove is loved by all my cats, long and short haired.

u/cas_hills · 1 pointr/cats

Try to brush her yourself to help with the hygiene if she’s not doing a good enough job. Also, consider changing her diet. What cats eat will affect their skin and hair health. A healthier diet (don’t know what you’re feeding her now though) can make a great difference. Also, if she’ll tolerate it you can try to wipe her down with cat wipes that should help with dandruff like these . Finally, a visit to the vet can always help!

u/Odedoralive · 1 pointr/SupermodelCats

I barely got anything done the last couple days of working from home...they’re too cute to ignore! As for the couches...that’s why we own a ChomChom: https://www.amazon.com/ChomChom-Roller-Dog-Hair-Remover/dp/B00BAGTNAQ

It works great!

u/Bsketbalgrl101 · 1 pointr/breakingmom

Not sure if they truly work. But I heard there's these wipes you can wipe the cat or dog down with every day. It's supposed to help with the allergy. https://www.amazon.com/Earthbath-Natural-Hypo-Allergenic-Fragrance-Free-Wipes/dp/B001ANBV7W ( I think this is them).

u/lostnprocrastination · 1 pointr/greatdanes

I use something similar for my pups baths and it works great. For every day brushing I use a really soft Wahl horse brush.

Here's the glove I use

You've got to feed them, water them, brush them. Trimming their nails every couple of weeks isn't a big deal.

u/veggiezombie1 · 1 pointr/funny

Exactly. Unless the cat got into something, baths are completely unnecessary. Cats are self-cleaning. Plus they have special wipes for cats.

u/SesquiPodAlien · 1 pointr/cats

I don’t think it’s any worse that anything else he does to his fur. If it really worries you you might get cat bath wipes. Something like this

u/why_you_beer · 1 pointr/cats

I use the scissor type cutters to trim my kitten's nails. Like this one: https://www.amazon.com/Pet-Republique-Professional-Nail-Clippers/dp/B01GBSSKVU/ref=pd_day0_hl_199_2/132-8113501-7696351?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B01GBSSKVU&pd_rd_r=57dea2ea-362c-11e9-a0bc-1d623743e79f&pd_rd_w=jVKS4&pd_rd_wg=rv3oA&pf_rd_p=ad07871c-e646-4161-82c7-5ed0d4c85b07&pf_rd_r=14WWMBNENQSJTS1T4DWZ&psc=1&refRID=14WWMBNENQSJTS1T4DWZ.

If you don't want them to freak out, you need to get them accustomed to the clippers first. Spend a few days having them smell the clippers, give treats. Spend a few days to a week holding their paws in your hand and gently exposing the nail. Give treats.

For clipping, I sit on the bed, couch, w.e chair and place him between my legs on his back with his head facing me. This prevents him from kicking free with his legs. Then I gently expose each nail and clip them to about 2 mm from the pink. See here: https://airportanimalhospitaltoledo.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/cat_nail_trim_diagram_450x338-300x225.jpg. Do this for each nail. If they start squirming and refusing to sit still, let them go and try again later. It's fine to do 1 paw per day if you need to. I can do all 4 within a few minutes now, without him freaking out too much.

The best time to trim them is when they are sleepy/napping. Or just about to fall asleep. Do not attempt when they are playful. Make sure you give lots of treats so they start associating the clippers with a positive experience (the treats).

u/PiXXiESTiCKK · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I want to get this for Nacho, but he's spoiled enough as it is & we really need to save money right now. Bc of moving & whatnot. So I can't really justify getting it, since it's not something he actually needs 🤷

Start with trimming the claws. I have this kind and it works fine: https://www.amazon.com/Pet-Republique-Professional-Nail-Clippers/dp/B01GBSSKVU/ref=sr_1_1_sspa. I trim my cats' claws when they are asleep and it's no problem. If they wake up and aren't cooperative I do the rest later. Be sure to avoid cutting the quick of the nail (the pink part--look for images online if you need more explanation) or you will hurt them.

If you do that and she's still scratching herself excessively, take her to a vet, it could be a skin problem making her itch, or maybe anxiety.

u/AbsolutelyPink · 1 pointr/BroMoHousekeeping

https://www.amazon.com/MIU-COLOR-Professional-Deshedding-Effectively/dp/B00DM1DDBW/ref=sr_1_2 like a Furminator, but less expensive. A Roomba would be my other suggestion, but not good with pet accidents. A stick vac.

u/BorisTheZombie · 1 pointr/sharpei

It's an older version of this brush from JW Pet Company.

Both cats love it.

u/PutSumNairOnThatHair · 1 pointr/roughcollies

I use a couple of brushes. I start with this little blue square shaped pin brush I got at petsmart (originally for my cat, but hey it works good). After he’s all detangled I go in with my knock off furmirator https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M5DS0Z7/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_Z.KaBbFTA993T

It takes time and patience lol. If you can believe it this pile is only from his backside. I could’ve put together a whole other Luka.

(That “pin” brush I mentioned is actually a little square slicker brush..forgot what to call them..) found it

u/RobAtSGH · 1 pointr/dogs

For a coat like that, all you really need is a hound glove and maybe a shedding blade

u/ransim · 1 pointr/nova

A lot of normal groomers will take cats that are groomer friendly. Honestly though most of the time cat don't need a groomer unless they have long hair and even then they usually just need to be brushed out.

I had a couple terrible experience with my long hair cat before I finally just started doing it myself, it wasn't worth having a stressed out cat because of an impatient groomer, or a facility not equipped for cats where he was put in a cage next to dogs.

Like someone else said, if you want to cut their hair you can do it yourself with some electric clippers, just take your time and have patience with your cat. If they need a bath there are a lot of really good water free products out for cats now that are better for them then a full bath.

Cats have oils in their hair that using soap would destroy. Those oils help keep their skin from getting to dry and agitated.

This is what I was using. Before or after it just brings her oils up where if I don't use it shes clean for at least 2.5 - 3 weeks before I feel oil/grease and then I wash her on week 4.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015UE70PI/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Does something similar but doesn't seems to bring the oil up.

So you could be right, maybe not getting full contact with her skin. To be honest her fur is short but thick and it seems to just absorb the shampoo no matter how much I use.

u/Americanherbivore · 1 pointr/husky

I've used a friend's furminator but I ended up buying this one, and it works just as well.
