I went to China when I was 11 (I'm from Michigan). It was the fourth or fifth day, and we always got to eat breakfast at our hotel. The spread was amazing... so much you could choose from, they had American selections, or if you were feeling adventurous they had authentic Chinese meals too.

On the Chinese side, there were these hard boiled eggs. They had a dark tinge to the shell, and when you opened them the egg whites were more of a cream/peach color. I'm 11 and figured fuck it, i'll try it... OMG it was the best hard boiled egg I ever had!! It had this tart flavor immediately, but it was followed by a sweet undertone, idk, it was just amazing!!

A day before we left, I had to ask our translator how these were made BAD IDEA NEVER DO THIS IF YOU LIKE IT!!!!!.

Her: "Oh those, the're just horse piss eggs."

Me: (with a dumbfounded look on my face): "Excuse me? What?"

Her: "Horse piss eggs, they boil eggs then soak them in horse piss for 3 days."

tl;dr: Ate hardboiled eggs that were marinated for 3 days in hose pee. I had at least 2 dozen over the course of 10 days

You can still buy them. Many candy stores carry them, there's a small box called Bean Boozled that has many nasty flavors, along with normal flavored lookalikes. It's a fun prank to play on people. Personally the worst one I ever had, which made me almost throw up, was the rotten egg one.

My grandma used to bring me this stuff all the time and I've missed it so goddamn much! It was this hard square of caramel and sugar that melted almost instantly when it went into your mouth.
