For reference, discarding took about 4.5 months in my 1400 sq foot home and two storage sheds. I have started working on deep cleaning, upgrading necessary yet ugly items, and storage/organizing. I expect this to take another two months. I am watching "Clean My Space" and "Home Organizing by Alejandra.tv" channels on YouTube now to help with the process.

I am trying to keep in mind getting products out of original packaging, if possible, to limit exposure to constant advertising in my home. I am choosing to spend quite a bit on higher quality products that I love and expect to last many years. Fortunately, I have a budget that allows for some luxuries.

Bedroom

I started with my closet and these great baskets from the container store http://www.containerstore.com/s/whitewash-rattan-bins/d?productId=10037633&q=Large%20Rattan%20Bin%20Whitewash. The closet has a built in shoe organizer and I used my label maker to indicate what style shoes go on which shelf – heels, sandals, sneakers, flats and boots. I also labeled the shelf for each basket. Clothes hangers are all white. They used to be all kinds of colors, and I realized that white is more calming. I am now using these for my socks and undies since konmari folding did not quite work for me on those items http://www.amazon.com/MIU-COLOR-Collapsible-Underwear-Organizer/dp/B009A3HTXY. The folding works great for most of my other clothes. I am still pondering how to organize the nightstand drawers.

Kitchen

I bought a couple of 10" bamboo lazy susans for keeping my oils and vinegars organized in my cabinets. I bought some refrigerator organization units from InterDesign and the Rubbermaid FreshWorks Produce savers. I intend to get Oxo food storage containers for dry goods.
I upgraded to these measuring spoons http://www.amazon.com/Cuisipro-Stainless-Steel-Measuring-Spoon/dp/B00004SU1I and these measuring cups http://www.amazon.com/Sagler-Measuring-Piece-Heavy-duty-Stainless/dp/B00V5EFWTO.

When I was discarding in my kitchen I found I did not really love my dinnerware so I got this set http://www.amazon.com/Corelle-Coordinates-18-Piece-Dinnerware-Service/dp/B00R790CLY plus matching lunch sized plates. I love the simple clean lines and the durability of the product. I downsized from a 12 person setting to 6 and it is great.

Bath

Have not done much here yet. I don’t have much need for storage organization in the cabinets. Still considering what I want to do with the drawers. Right now the drawers are still organized with small cardboard boxes from Glossybox, a cut down cereal box, and an empty jigsaw puzzle box. I upgraded my plunger and brush to nice stainless steel containers, and got a toilet paper holder that matches them http://www.amazon.com/Home-Basics-Vented-Stainless-Toilet/dp/B00JB20IDW.

Laundry

I replaced my bulky plastic basket with this http://www.amazon.com/Bajer-Design-Marketing-5234-Basket/dp/B0010KZCFC. It now hangs on a Command Hook next to the washer.

Car

I have repacked the car kit and 72 hour emergency kits in these for my car and my son's car. ttp://www.amazon.com/TrunkCratePro-Best-Premium-Trunk-Organizer/dp/B01AHK0J9Y. We live in an area prone to natural disasters so I like to be prepared wherever we are. I bought a car trash container (http://www.amazon.com/Highland-1932600-Car-Trash-Keeper/dp/B0027QWNGO) and created a little kit in a ziplock bag in the glovebox with essentials. Also, found tissues in a round container that fits perfectly in the door cup holder. I also bought a set of matching reusable grocery bags (http://www.amazon.com/ReBagMe-Reusable-Grocery-Reinforced-Handles/dp/B00Y17OIR4) so I don’t have the mismatched set. Finally, I have these on order (http://www.amazon.com/Car-Hammer-Seatbelt-Emergency-Must-Have/dp/B00CB8WM2S). Not organization related, just something I have been thinking that I needed for safety.

Purse

I reassessed what is in my purse. I used a couple small cosmetics bags that I had on hand and now have many things I wished I had at various times. Everything is neatly organized and I know exactly what is in there and why I have it. Everything from safety pins, to pen and notebook (http://www.amazon.com/Marble-Composition-Books-Notebooks-Green/dp/B00WRDIS9I), to a tiny flashlight, a granola bar in case I am out and hungry, a tide stain remover pen, a tiny Band-Aid package, tiny measuring tape (http://www.amazon.com/Stanley-33-115-10-Foot-4-Inch-PowerLock/dp/B00009OYGH), my phone, my wallet, and my keys are always on the little hook. Not exactly Konmari minimalism, but those are all things that I wished I had at various times and I am happy that I will not be caught without again. It is a medium size purse, packed just right, with stuff easily accessible.

Home office

I have not done much there yet, but this drawer organizer is working pretty well http://www.amazon.com/Rolodex-Regeneration-Deep-Drawer-Organizer-21864/dp/B002JG48R4.

Command center

I am currently working on a “Command Center” to keep clutter off the kitchen counter. I have not purchased anything for that yet. I am writing down ideas, measuring, and considering products. http://thehappyhousie.porch.com/20-fabulous-command-centers-to-get-your-life-completely-organized/

Other random stuff:

I moved my CDs into a holder http://www.amazon.com/Case-Logic-DVDW-92-Capacity-Classic/dp/B00005ATMD and they now live on a Command Hook in my car. For movies I transferred them to these Sleeves http://www.amazon.com/Atlantic-74604729-Movie-Sleeves/dp/B002JR2V7C and they now live in a small drawer in my living room. I tossed the packaging because it was bulky and does not give me joy.

I am using these in my linen closet http://www.amazon.com/Honey-Can-Do-STO-02986-Nested-Woven-Esspresso. This box for my jewelry http://www.amazon.com/Black-Leather-Jewelry-Travel-Case/dp/B0006JCGUM.

Not related to organizing, but I am loving these brushes for getting tiny spaces clean. So much better than an old toothbrush. http://www.amazon.com/OXO-Good-Grips-Clean-Brush/dp/B003M8GMS6

If you made it this far, congrats. Something that I have noticed is that I can now shop with confidence, I can easily toss or donate the old unloved items, and I am organized enough to return those few items that don’t work as well as I hoped. My home feels much more open and inviting. I know where everything is and my clear vision is starting to come to fruition.

I have a standing jewelry box/mirror like this.

u/careyjmac · 9 pointsr/weddingplanning

I bought two recently, one for my bedside table where I can put it when I sleep/shower, and another for the kitchen where I can put it when I cook/wash dishes. Both are super adorable and were very affordable :)

This one is in the kitchen:

I use jewelry tray inserts, some feel that the 24 space rather than the 18 space are better (but the 24 space is too small for 1846 tiles). I place them in these jewelry trays to stiffen them up.

Alternately you can use this Darice tray with the lid cut off (and then rubber-banded on to store them), the rounded bottoms of the compartments make it reasonably easy to pull the tiles from (again, this like a 24 slot tray doesn't hold GMT 1846 tiles).

I wouldn't bother with plexiglass for most titles, unless the map is only paper. All recent commercially produced products and most products from AAG or GSG come on mounted boards and don't need any help to lay flat.

The most important thing is to get poker chips to replace the paper money. Using poker chips will reduce the play time of most titles by at least an hour over trying to handle paper money.

I feel like I've seen something like this on Etsy....I know Amazon has one but the box itself isn't sailor moon themed. Depending on how crafty you are you could maybe take the mechanism out and put it in a large Star Locket or custom made box.

Good luck and hope you find the perfect gift :)

My wife does a similar thing. She uses https://www.amazon.co.uk/YiGo-Storage-Box-1-Pack/dp/B00H8MWWKY these type of things for all jewelry. Things never gets dusty, lost or tanged and packing jewelry for a trip is as simple as grabbing a case and throwing it in her bag.

She's came up with it herself in her teens and has been doing it this way for 20 years and we've never found anyone else who uses hardware/craft organisers and we've yet to find a superior solution.

I used to live in an apartment with a built in tie rack that was actually perfect for necklaces. Now I use something like this

u/Siodhachan · 4 pointsr/AnycubicPhoton

I have this UV light, on this 3D printed curing chamber. Works great, the only issue is it does not have an on/off switch, so I just hooked it to a smart plug and yell at Alexa to turn it on, I also have it with an auto off switch when it hits 15 minutes, which is helpful cause I used to forget the lamp on all the time.

For most normal size minis, like 10 mins is more than enough, for bigger things, what I do is run 2 cycles and its usually fully cured at the end.

Also, put one of these solar powered rotating disks to help hit the entire mini more evenly.

I've got a nice set of 300 Majestic poker chips, white, red, yellow (20), black, purple, and orange. Paid about 33 cents a chip from Apache Poker Chips.

I also use jewelry trays to hold the tiles.

Action shot of the trays in use here.

Went to Pacificon this weekend so I got to play 1846, 1817, and 1857.

1846 was fun, but it is definitely not a top 18xx for me. It seemed primarily about running a good company, and I found it uninteresting. There wasn't very much pressure in the train rush. When the permanents were available, I was simply able to sell my own company stock to easily fund the purchase.

1817 was a beast though and I'm glad I purchased it. Can't wait to play this game more to explore every nook and cranny of this crazy financial world.

1857 is always a blast to play because of the brutal train rush in 2 hours.

I just moved back home with my parents (fuck my life) and share a bathroom with my little sister... I got myself a Toibocks to lock away most of my stuff. I also have an extensive collection and not everything fits in it, but it locks, which is why I bought it. The rest of my stuff, including lubes and condoms, are in an old purse in my closet.

u/cosycookie · 2 pointsr/RepLadies

I've got my eye on a few things from Amazon:

  • This box for storing Pandora bracelets and keeping the beads tidy. My mom has one as I want to get it as a gift to go along the Pandora bead I got from taobao.

  • A travel jewellery box. Undecided between this one and this one

  • This cute reusable water bottle. I've been wanting a small one for a while since the 500ml ones don't fit into most of my bags and can get heavy to carry.

  • Some videogames for my fiancee. We still haven't got the latest God of War and he really wants Red Dead Redemption II.

I also want to check out some shops in person and hopefully finish buying Christmas gifts.

I am super impressed with this jewelry shelf - it holds necklaces, bracelets, rings, earrings (including studs - super easily!), and I put my deodorant and body spray on the shelf.

Plano 3600’s are expensive or difficult to come by in the UK - I recommend these as an alternative as they’re the same size and work well with the BGG template too

I am going to reiterate what others have said. You have a very real potential to destroy this watch if you attempt this.

Dremel like tools take a bit of skill to cut accurately, and this is a very ambitious project for having never used one before.
Additionally, the high vibration from grinding has a real chance of causing potential damage to the delicate internal mechanical parts of the watch.

It would be far better and easier to get the correctly sized watch band, or modify the watchband to fit this watch than the other way around. Bands are cheaper and easier to replace if you mess up. Not to be discouraging, but you will likely mess up, if you have no experience doing anything like this.

That being said you seem like you might soldier on ahead with a dremel regardless. So here is some advice if you insist on attempting this.

Use abrasive grinding disks or stones for this. If you try and do this with metal burrs you will likely work harden the metal and end up with a useless burr and frustrated. Buy several stones and a package or two of disks. These will get used up quickly.

Wear eye protection, if not a full face shield, hand protection and consider a dust mask. This process has the potential to create nasty dust, throw sparks, and the dremel grinding disk break notoriously easier, often shattering and throwing bits around at high speed, protect yourself and your workspace accordingly.

Protect the parts of the watch you will not be cutting. I would probably wrap it tightly in several layers of a low tack masking tape, like a blue painters tape. The dremel grinding disk with likely catch and skitter across some part of the surface when you attempt this. Several layers of tape will minimize the damage when you make a mistake.

Make very clear marks as to what you want to cut away, and what you want to keep. Get a good marker and color the whole area, then using a sharp needle and a straight edge scribe away lines where you will cut.

Work slowly and cautiously, essentially nibbling away at what you want to cut off. Don't try to cut it out in big chunks. If you use disks, they will bind and break if you do, and you will likely over cut accidentally.

I would try to use something like a Jewelers Ring Clamp to hold it while you grind on it. It will keep your fingers farther from the dangerous cutting bits. Be cautious of clamping it too tightly as it will likely break the crystal.

You will likely need to clear the hole when you are done, as a burr will form from the grinding so consider getting the appropriate sized drill bit to do that.

Good luck, and I hope you don't destroy your watch.

We use this for our night stand drawer:

Baby Proofing Magnetic Cabinet Lock

It keeps toy drawer securely locked and we store magnetic key at the back of the headboard for easy access.

We got it when we started child proofing our kitchen drawers many years ago and then we had a-ha moment. :-)

Before that we used ToiBox which has secret compartment and can be also unlocked with magnetic key.

Unfortunatelly this box is not available anymore as far as I know.

that's rough - ikea doesn't have a lot of options typically.

How about a nice grey couch? I wouldn't keep the legs on this one though. (I looked on the website and picked a random European country - hopefully they have the same stuff at your ikea): http://www.ikea.bg/DefaultM.aspx?page=sproductview&iID=19525&cr=1_25306_0_0_1

It looks like you're into purple -and I like purple with gray (it's a bit less harsh than against black) so if you get a grey couch, you could have a purple rug too. Maybe purple drapes (but not both - that's too much!).

Also - you have a beautiful bathroom, but how on earth does it have no medicine cabinet or storage? I say get some free standing shelves for under the sink or just suck up the cost and buy a cabinet to install under there. Either that or buy a bathroom tray to put on top of that clothes washer to put your things in: http://www.amazon.com/Display-Fixture-Store-Full-Size/dp/B007PSHDQO/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1397405503&sr=8-7&keywords=tray

I (usually) don't wear it to bed -- I do if I'm in a hotel or someone else's house or if I'm drunk and taking it off seems like too much work. I put it in the ring box that it came in for bed, and don't put it on until after my morning shower typically.

I have this cute kitty that holds my ring when I'm in the kitchen.

I also take it off to do laundry, cleaning of any kind, and scooping cat litter. I'll either put it in the box in the bedroom or on the kitty in the kitchen, whichever is closer.

I realize I'm probably a little extreme, but I'm such a clutz that I'm really nervous about it still! The important ones are to not wear it while exercising or cleaning.

Something like this on my dresser. Cheap, very functional, easy to get into/out of, adequate protection from dust, able to see the pieces when it’s closed.

u/mercsterreddit · 1 pointr/mechanicalpuzzles

I bought a very nice heavy wooden watch case for my hanayama puzzles. Something along those lines is nice; search amazon for watch cases or other storage things that also have a quality and display qualities to it.

I got this but you may need different size arrangement:

Yeah! I hate when they get all dirty! And yes! I got it on Amazon. There’s like a million and mine was literally $10 and they come in 22 COLORS. I got a pale pink to match my phone case and wallet, and it’s the perfect size for my bag, but I’m sure there are other sizes. Also, they’re kind of soft on the outside? Not hard like a jewelry box, but sturdy like one. Almost like a suede. I love it.

Also, some designers make them as well, like Vera Bradley, Fossil, Coach, Pandora, etc so if you search “Travel Jewelry box” on Poshmark there are some great deals. You have to look at this Coach one:

The curing chamber is an open cube used for making shelves that I coated with a roll of vinyl mirror sticker in the inside. I cut a hole in the top and inserted a LED curing lamp. Since the box is made of hollow boards, the top hole is larger and the inside hole is a step for the lamp to rest on. I made a door out of scrap plywood and painted it black and attached it to the box with a piano hinge. Then I lined the edge of the inside of the door with weather stripping and added a magnetic clasp and printed a knob on my form 2. Add in a solar turntable to rotate the parts and you are good to go!

The finishing kit is nice because it contains the mess of cleaning the parts in IPA after you take them off of the build tray.

I feel loved when I'm thought about. It could be a random text that says "Good Morning" or maybe a box of my favorite candy. It makes me feel warm and fuzzy.
