Blizzard has already profited from me and probably doesn't care whether I continue to play the games I've already paid for, but we can voice our frustration at this atrocious decision to would-be customers. I had previously left some 5-star reviews. I've deleted these and/or changed them to 1-star to reflect how Blizzard's choice has affected my enjoyment of their games.

Hearthstone (Google Play)

Hearthstone (Apple)

Hearthstone (Amazon)

Diablo 3 (Amazon):

Switch (You can select a different platform to review from this link)

D3 (Walmart): Switch Xbox One PS4

D3 (Best Buy): Switch Xbox One PS4

WoW Classic (Metacritic)

While you're at it, don't forget to cancel your Diablo: Immortal pre-registration!

Note: I'm not suggesting you go drop a bunch of reviews for games you haven't played. But if, like me, you feel like your overall enjoyment of the game has been affected, let others know about it outside of Reddit!

Games on other consoles are basically guaranteed to gradually go down in price, with Nintendo we have to wait for something drastic like Nintendo Selects - otherwise these games just sell for their original retail price for an entire console generation.

A good example would be Breath of the Wild and Horizon Zero Dawn. Both came out at a similar time, both exclusives for their platforms, both critically acclaimed. Yet on Amazon I can now buy Horizon for £18.44, but Zelda is still £47.99.

Their pricing strategy obviously works for them, especially when you see games like Arms and Fire Emblem sell 2 million+. But I do find myself entirely skipping some games just because of the price, whereas this is less of a problem on my other consoles.

u/asteroidkicker · 52 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

Dark Souls Remastered still has the Prime discount, so we know the already announced games are fine. We'll have to check this out once we get another remake.

Thanks OP. I'll pick it up at BB if amazon doesn't match (It's 47.99+tax at amazon for Prime members now).

€49.99 in the EU eShop on preload. No idea on the US one, but Amazon.com has it for $59.99

Just in case, remember that if you're preordering it digitally, do it from November 1st onwards, so as the coins don't get just until October next year.

Switch games are very expensive compared to other platforms in the UK. BotW new is still £40-£45 compared to a new copy of Horizon Zero Dawn (around the same release dates, both first-party games) for £15-£20.

Yes Digimon

They actually listen to their customers and fixed and done many things their customers have complained about or asked for

This is why I have started playing Digimon Cyber Sleuth Complete on Switch, has more character development and intrigue in the first 10 minutes than half a Pokémon game.

If Digimon and Bandai can create such a game on one-fourth of a budget as Game Freak this just shows how little passion Gamefreak has for fans and it’s own franchise.

Digimon Cyber Sleuth is great game and story

It’s on sale at Amazon for 41$ and is two whole game and all DLC

I doubt you'll see any deals like these before Nov next year. Nintendo products don't really drop in price as much as Sony / Microsoft.

I'd advise you purchase the Grey Console + Mario Rabbids for £279.99 and the Mario Odyssey game separately for £39.99.

That comes to £319.98 (which is £5 cheaper than Base's Odyssey Bundle). You also have the Physical version of Odyssey (rather than a game code) and you have an extra game to play (or sell/trade-in).

u/SlimeBeherit · 4 pointsr/dragonquest

You can pre-order Dragon Quest Heroes I + II on Amazon already.

u/paidbythekill · 4 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

You probably want it digitally, but Amazon has it for $24.95.

> So bigger chains and sites like amazon won´t sell it and you have to know a smaller store, that imports the game on his own.

you prolly can buy it in amazon. amazon also lists other shops and imports.

u/thelardboy · 3 pointsr/AskUK

For anything vaguely new, they charge the same as new for pre-owned, which is taking the piss, quite frankly. Online is even cheaper for new.

Source: SMO is £45 pre-owned at Cex vs £44.95 new at Argos or £42 at Amazon

u/contextParam · 3 pointsr/ireland

>Thanks for all your replies! But in terms of pricing is it good to buy online from places like amazon and game? How do they compare to CEX and GameStop?

I buy almost all my stuff digitally cos I'm a lazy shite, but the odd time I buy physical Amazon has always been cheaper than Gamestop. You can have a browse now and see that's pretty much the case - Destiny 2 is €51 vs €75, Mario Odyssey is €47 vs €75, Horizon is €43 vs €75, Nier Automata €43 vs €65, and on and on and on. It's especially egregious right now cos the British pound is tanking, but even before amazon was always way cheaper. Maybe with brexit their prices will go up and retail here will be more competitive. I doubt it though, retail prices are even higher than digital sometimes - Destiny 2 is cheaper on PSN than it is at Gamestop right now.

You would have to get the bedrock edition on Switch. I don't have a Switch so I'm not great on the details but I think they have one called the Switch edition, that one is not cross platform.

Edit: This is the ome you'd have to buy: Minecraft - Nintendo Switch https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07D13QGXM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_.K0wDb6A18DFV

I'm not sure why it is more than $20 though.

Bookmark and check out /r/NintendoSwitchDeals regularly.

/u/nintendeals keeps a running list of what's on sale on the eShop since navigating the eShop is a bit of a pain.

My personal $20 or less favorites from the eShop:

  • Stardew Valley
  • Wargroove
  • Rocket League
  • Golf Story
  • Celeste
  • Hollow Knight

    Other things:

  • Civilization VI is on sale for $28 on Amazon right now. Plays well on the Switch and it's a great game.
  • Minecraft is on sale for $25 - $5 off. I might prefer a digital copy to physical for this game though.
  • Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle is half off on Amazon at $29.

1 I wouldn’t be. No confirmed cases yet, and if it does, send it in, not having a Switch for a week isn’t the end of the world

2 No loss of processing power. It’s identical

3 Don’t understand. No kickstand because it’s not meant to be played with a separate controller. There are cases which exist that add a kickstand though

4 Only one case worth getting. This one, which releases in the west soon: https://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/product/B07X5L6GSW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

5 It’s amazing, and I prefer using it over the OG Switch now. But I do recommend having a docked Switch separately and just bouncing back and forth via cloud saves, if you can afford it.

u/[deleted] · 2 pointsr/postmates

Almost 3 weeks now. It‘a great. Had the original switch before. Both are nice but I’m enjoying the enhanced portability of this. I recommend investing in an SD card and downloading the games. That way you don’t have to carry any cartridges. And this case: https://www.amazon.co.jp/任天堂-Nintendo-Switch-Liteフリップカバー(画面保護シート付き)/dp/B07X5L6GSW/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?_encoding=UTF8&imageClass=hi-res&keywords=switch+lite+case&phoneCarrier=wifi&phoneType=iPhone&qid=1574878784&rd=1&sr=8-3&view=Touch9

I don't know how much you're hoping to spend on a new hobby, but video games can provide decades of entertainment. The barrier to entry can seem daunting, because some of those games are so complex and huge and confusing, but there are some very simple games among the variety. I agree with others in this thread who say Nintendo is the way to go for someone brand new to gaming. They cater to children first and foremost, so every game they make is designed to have intuitive controls that anyone can figure out regardless of prior gaming experience. That being said, they've made some of the most highly awarded games of the last few years, which are both accessible to new gamers and extremely fun and rewarding for adults. I've taken a moment to link some Nintendo stuff on Amazon that I think would be an excellent starting place. Also, getting into gaming is a brilliant way for older people to connect with their youngest family members in a natural, enthusiastic, and unforced way. They'll be able to give you tips, help you with hard levels, and just generally be interested in your hobby because it's something they already love.

.

Nintendo Switch Console on Amazon In order to play most video games, you'll need a console or a PC. This is the Nintendo console, and it is only compatible with Nintendo Switch games. Be careful you don't buy Nintendo Wii games or Nintendo 64 games, those are different consoles and they aren't compatible. Xbox and playstation games are also not going to work. This box is everything you need short of a TV and an internet connection to play the new Nintendo games.

.

Mario Kart on Amazon This game is as simple as it gets, and it's a timeless classic that has been remade half a dozen times. You hold one button to make your car go forward, and you steer left and right with the other hand on the joystick. It sounds simple, but there is a lot of fun to be had in this game. This is traditionally considered a good party game, so if you decide to pick up an extra controller or two down the road, you could invite people over to race against!

.

Super Mario on Amazon This game is a step up in difficulty for a new gamer, but still within reach and arguably one of the best games made in the last five years. You'll control Mario himself through different levels trying to... you guessed it... save the princess.

.

Zelda on Amazon This game is the most difficult game on the list, but is still easy enough to be the first game that many young people ever play. You'll control Link, the Hero of Time in a similar manner to how you would control Mario in the previous game, but you won't get simple levels. You'll get an entire world to explore, get lost in, and fight monsters in. There are more things to learn in this game than the other two, but remember, everything is designed so that a ten year old can learn it. And this game is widely regarded in the gaming community as the best game in one of the biggest franchises in all of gaming.

.

If you have any questions at all, feel free to hit me up. I think video games can be for everyone, if you just know where to start.

has any other site posted the price of the game yet?
Amazon UK has put it up at £60. For reference wii u RRP in UK is £40 and ps4/xbone RRP is £50, and amazon usually undercuts these a little bit also (eg horizon ps4 is listed as £44). This has me scared that the carts are going to make this the most expensive console to support :(

u/Holly164 · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

Did you actually spend $50 on DQB physical? Most physical games can be bought for less than the official retail price - e.g. on Amazon.com you can save $5.39 by buying physically, even without the Prime discount. That's equivalent to 539 gold points.

As a general rule, buying physical gives more of a discount than the value of the gold points you'd earn by buying digitally. Usually significantly more of a discount, such that people who buy digitally feel the prices aren't fair to them.

Also, when you buy digitally, there's less of a cost to Nintendo/the devs, due to not needing to produce the cartridge and box or ship the games. Also, if you buy directly from the eShop, they don't have to share the profits with a game store, either. So they can afford to give more gold points.

Actually, I retract that. My info was based on the release date listed on Amazon's sale page, but it occurs to me that they have it set to the last day of the year so that it's still listed for 2017 release. After a bit of googling, it appears that the Switch release was delayed and there's been no word as to a new release date as of yet.

> disgaea 5

> $90

okay what. Nowhere is Disgaea 5 Complete $90. It's $60 on the eShop, and $60 (or less!) on Amazon.

> ridiculously overpriced

PuyoPuyo Tetris is $30, which IMO is a little more than what'd I spend but it's also filled with content and has it's own online system so you can play Puyo Puyo or Tetris (or both) with people all over the world. Which makes it more worth the $30 cause getting that kind of stuff to communicate is hard.

> USF2

okay im gonna agree on that one CAPCOM just dropped the bomb with that.

> minecraft

aka a game that isn't for everyone, and if you own it on PC there's no reason to own it on Switch as it's objectively worse (not updated to latest version, no customization, etc.)

> MK8

again a game that isn't for everyone.

> LEGO City Undercover

which was highly regarded as one of the best Wii U games and is now on the Switch...I haven't played it myself but it's one of those games that looks interesting.

Ok game choice is subjective but most gamers like First Person Shooter games. Sadly these are out for now as are most racing games.

Turn based strategy games are the best entry point as there's Zero Reliance on speed /timing
You said mario so I'm guessing you've got a Nintendo switch?
https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Games/Nintendo-Switch/Sid-Meier-s-Civilization-VI-1460609.html
This is a great game

Role Playing Games are the sweet spot as they are less demanding than FPS. I play these, but you'll have a bit of work to do to adapt the controls at this point
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Nintendo Switch) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01N1083WZ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_x7ySCb1QQMHKN

Touch screen App games.
Clash royale is very good 1 finger card/tower battle person Vs person game ( I play this allot) does need timing
Clash of clans- good game low dexterity needed- (base building strategy games)
Sim city build it is also a solid game
Sports team managers games good again low dexterity
Words with friends (Scrabble) turn based
Check out the accessibility features on your smart phone too.
What devices do you have?

Oh just remembered if he's still in hospital and you've got the cash Bose or Sony noise cancelling headphones if it is too noisey.

It's sort of a weird situation. It's not officially announced for North America (or Europe) at this time, but during the Switch event they never specified "in Japan" like they did for X and XI.

It's not listed on Nintendo's Switch product slate for the West, nor has Square Enix said anything about it outside of Japan. Yet, despite all of that, some retailers do still have pre-order links for it:

My guess is that it is in fact coming (the work is basically done, so there's really no reason not to) but Square Enix is (understandably) trying to stay silent on the matter until Heroes 2's PS4 launch is out of the way.

Amazon has [Wolfeinstein 2](https://www.amazon.com/Wolfenstein-II-New-Colossus-Nintendo-Switch/dp/B077ZNDMST?th=1) physical cart for $40 new with prime shipping. Can you do lower?

u/TheBlackUnicorn · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

Amazon shows a release date of December 31st:

https://www.amazon.com/Wolfenstein-II-New-Colossus-Nintendo-Switch/dp/B077ZNDMST/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1521840765&sr=8-1&keywords=Wolfenstein+2+Switch

Could just be a placeholder. It seems a bit weird to release ANYTHING, be it a port or an exclusive title, AFTER Christmas and Hannukah.

u/jsilvrs · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

Amazon has it up now.

u/CyrixSG · 1 pointr/ShouldIbuythisgame

Yup, up for preorder.

u/MemeTroubadour · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

According to what someone said higher, no. Only the physical Ancestral Edition does.

I'm just going by what Amazon says. I checked on the status of some orders I had and noticed that DD got pushed back again.

u/redditmeat · 1 pointr/NSCollectors

I went with Amazon.es. It's cheaper than Amazon.de. It costs €34.90 and because you live in the U.S. it will be even cheaper since you won't be subject to VAT (value added tax) that many Europeans pay. Just remember it's euros and not dollars so the exchange rate may give you sticker shock.

FLASHBACK: 25th Anniversary - Amazon Spain

I've also bought the EU version of Bayonetta 2 Limited Edition from Amazon Spain. It came in over a week from Europe. In my experience I've tried Amazon UK, France, Germany, and Spain. My amazon.fr deliveries took a little longer than say Amazon.de. Amazon.es was reasonable in terms of delivery time.

Hope that helps.

You can pre-purchase the collectors edition on Amazon Germany right now:

Edit: It totaled to about 37 euros for the game and shipping to the US.
