I only do it with other people if I must. When I do it, it's in total darkness, with nice headphones, and this song (cool solo at 2:30) on my iPod. I watch the fractals dance on my eyelids; as the music as the rises and falls, I see the guitar strings dancing in my head like a psychedelic fantasia. (If you're interested, the song segues into this one and it has a cool solo at 3:50.)

Your individual "right" to entertainment isn't higher priority than the "right" of everyone you walk past to not be bothered by your phone speakers. As people were saying elsewhere in the thread, being rude is different from calling someone out for being rude. They're not equivalent.

You're doing something rude, something that bothers others, and then you're making excuses for it. With the possible exception of a stationary group of people sharing music in a public park or beach, it's rude to listen to stuff on speakers in public spaces, and you just shouldn't be doing it. It's not particularly excusable when a $5 pair of open-air headphones can basically solve the issue.

Sennheisers have good sound quality, judging by specs alone, the Sony does seem better as mentioned by imag1ne. I would try searching for some reviews on both of those see what people who have them have to say. I use Sennheiser HD-515 and am very pleased with them, however these might be out of your price range. The HD-515's were quite a lot more expensive when I got them as a gift 5 years ago.

u/twich35 · 6 pointsr/pcgaming

Razer makes good mice, not headsets. Get a Sennheiser
Lower priced
Higher Priced

And just use this mic. It works great, and is very clear. I have never heard of pulsewave as a competitive brand, and that headset doesn't look as sturdy as most Sennheiser's.

Do you know any Bluetooth headphones that are similar to cheap, lightweight, wired, on-ear headphones? I am prone to headaches from headphones and earbuds AND giant DJ style ones both give me headaches. I own a pair of Bluetooth headphones in both styles but I use super cheap Koss headphones because I can wear them for a long time. Anything like that? I own hundreds of dollars worth of headphones but I almost always pick these ones because they don’t give me headaches in like forty minutes. https://www.amazon.com/Koss-KPH7-Lightweight-Portable-Headphone/dp/B006T9ZKAQ/ref=sxin_3_ac_m_rm?ac_md=0-0-a29zcyBoZWFkcGhvbmVz-ac_d_rm&keywords=koss+headphones&pd_rd_i=B006T9ZKAQ&pd_rd_r=7768e630-73cc-4406-8f44-00082d0979e1&pd_rd_w=oOJdu&pd_rd_wg=KkCag&pf_rd_p=d1a6ea92-24ed-409e-8e33-97dc5a8de815&pf_rd_r=1JZKS4805VQA29N2GGSD&qid=1569014659

So 2 weeks ago I had this same sort of question. So I looked up reviews, the more common brands, etc. What I wanted to use them for, and then balance the cost vs. the features.

In my case, I wanted comfortable headphones what would go over the ear, not slip off, good build quality, bluetooth, and would work at the gym and sitting at my desk.

I found these beauties!
http://www.amazon.com/Bluedio-Headphones-Bluetooth4-0-Revolutionary-Retail-Gift/dp/B00H1XKC2U/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1407182416&sr=1-1&keywords=bluedio+r%2B

Bluedio R+ Legend (I didnt need to get the Legend versions, just a different color)

  • bluetooth and wired (comes with the wire too)

  • MicroSD card slot, up to 32gig.. for the times you dont want to eat your phone/ipod battery

  • simple control scheme on the earpiece

  • comfortable as hell, dont slip off

  • built well

  • NFC

  • The comparable Beats versions cost $250.00 MORE.. and I know that there are other comparable wireless headphones, but the Beats were a well-known product to compare against.. I am not sure the Beats have volume/seek controls on the earpiece, do they?

  • If I get a phone call, I can answer and talk on the headphones (built in mic)

  • the bass is freaking insane in these.. seriously, for me, it's almost too much. I see OP loves bass though. I'm 100% serious, these monsters have bass galore.

u/random_LA_azn_dude · 4 pointsr/headphones

Huh? The Amazon link for the one shown in your pic is among the first few google hits for "behind the neck headphones": https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LU1RFLU

Check the models listed under "suggested items" and/or "customer searches". These days they appear to be also called "neckband" and "ergonomic" headphones, the latter term being a bit ambiguous imo.

u/talvis0ta · 4 pointsr/ADHD

i personally have the bose quietcomfort 3 and for my purposes, they work great!

i typically use them in an area of my university's library where people are free to talk, make noise, etc. since i usually study better when there are people around (except for the noise, hence the headphones). unless someone is really yelling or talking loudly a couple feet away from me, i don't hear a thing.

the only concern i have as far as comfort is concerned is that if you wear glasses with thicker frames, wearing these with your glasses might cause your ears to be sore after a couple hours of wearing them. other than that, i have no complaints comfort-wise.

these aren't exactly budget, and i got them as a gift, but they've served me really well. i don't know much about the other headphones in the quietcomfort line, but perhaps those are worth checking out as well. good luck with your decision!

u/veni_vidi_vale · 3 pointsr/headphones

there's always been a market for vintage walkmans. But thanks to GoG prices on specific walkman models like the TPSL2 went up into the stratosphere

Plus Sony probably made a nice chunk of change from product placement fees when the movie did as well as it did

of course, all you really need are these and these to be able to listen to your own Awesome Mix #1 just like Peter Quill. And maybe with these headphones, you can get to make out with your own Gamora Zen Whoberi Ben Titan too. Just make sure you don't upset her dad :-)

u/TheNikonShooter · 3 pointsr/headphones

I got the Gold Limited Edition which comes with a hard case and has a built in remote. The box it all comes in is really cool. It’s quite the presentation.

https://www.amazon.com/Koss-Limited-Headphones-Microphone-Control/dp/B01NCF1WJQ/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1504783266&sr=8-6&keywords=koss+portapro

There is also an all black edition that’s supposed to be on Amazon exclusively soon as well, might be my Christmas present to myself. Lol.

u/drapier · 3 pointsr/headphones

Brainwavz HM3

Read up on them, they're really good and they are currently only 26$, that's a steal!

u/buttsquirts · 3 pointsr/buildapcsales

if $60 is too much for your headphone budget, get the KSC75 + headband for less than $25. Just as good IMHO, with the KSC75 being more fun/bassy, portable, and doesn't leak sound as much.

u/OrangeBuck · 3 pointsr/headphones
  • Budget $50-100 USD - Very flexible (up to $150 if the difference is that significant)
  • Location Baltimore, Maryland
  • Source Laptop and iPhone
  • Requirements For Isolation Not much, dorm room and library usage.
  • Preferred Type of Headphone On/over ear. No in ear please. Something comfortable and not stand-outish. Bland? I guess is the word I'm looking for.
  • Past Headphones Astro A30 and A40. The former broke (like 2 hours ago, put em on and .. snap), hence the search for music only headphones (the A40's are fine for my stationary and gaming needs). A40 is solid, but obviously not easy to lug around, and the neon orange I have doesn't deflect attention very well.
  • Preferred Music Electronic music. Mainly Drum and Bass (B1) (B2) and Electro (E1). I also listen to alternative music, but not as much. (A1) Whatever Chvrches , 3oh!3, and Panic at the Disco are - maybe it's pop, I don't know and I don't care, I like it.

    ***

Extra comments: detachable mic would be nice, in line possible. NOT a necessity. Just be cool to have the option, ya know? Build quality and comfort above sound quality. After breaking one pair of headphones (albeit they were old) I'm paranoid about snapping others. I can buy another pair of A30's for 50 used or 100 new, so I thought I'd shop around for something better.

Here's some possibilities of things I'm considering. If they aren't good choices for me, then at least you know what style I'm looking for.

u/Zombiesnacks · 2 pointsr/sennheiser

I have both the Sennheiser Urbanite On Ear and the Urbanite XL Wireless Bluetooth and I listen to basically the same music as you. Their performance is fantastic, the bass is solid, and they are really comfortable. They're good for both indoor and outdoor use, but neither are active noise-cancelling; they're passive but work well.

u/GymothyCharles · 2 pointsr/headphones

The Audio Technica ATH M40x is quite popular in that price range, however, they have been recommended with the Brainwavz HM5 Pads. Another option is the Sennheiser Urbanite(On Ear), which is a little bassier than the M40x, but, in my opinion, looks a little nicer. You can also do some browsing around the sub, and visit/comment on the Daily Purchase Advise thread.

Happy hearing!

u/somnambulist80 · 2 pointsr/headphones

Momentums are on sale too. Most colors are available for under $130.

u/expired_methylamine · 2 pointsr/headphones

Budget- Under $50, preferably under $40

Source- LG Optimus F6 (pretty quiet device I've noticed) with occasional PC.

Requirements for Isolation- Isolation is important to me. Think of the average McDonalds or city bus. I want to be as immersed as possible within my price range .

Preferred Type of Headphones- Over ear

Preferred Tonal Balance- I listen to a lot of hip-hop and rap, so think balanced with a slightly emphasized bass

Past Headphones- Behringer HPM1000 is my current pair. Really good $10 headphhones

Preferred Music- Again, I listen to a lot of hip hop and rap. Mostly old school west coast (NWA, Tupac, etc.), but some of the new stuff too (Various Artists). I have a few outliers, but that's pretty much it.

Additional Info- I've only seriously considered two pairs so far, SOL REPUBLIC Tracks (which I was willing to spend $10 more on the used ones because I fell in love with them at the store) and some Audio-Technica ATH-M30. But I trust you guys can either help me make a decision, or find better. My headphones work, so if you think it's not worth it to spend on something only slightly better, that's fine too. This is the first time I've been willing to spend more than $20 on headphones though, so don't let me down guys

Edit: Location- The great US of A

and minimal leakage please

u/MutatedSpleen · 2 pointsr/steelseries

The 800s are, by a significant margin, the best headphones or headset I have ever worn. My only complaint is that I can't take them on the bus with me to and from work because if I could, I would. The sound quality is through the roof compared to anything else I've ever worn.

I haven't had a ton of super high quality headphones in my life. The previous headsets I've used include: Logitech G230 wired, Logitech G430 wireless, Logitech G930 wireless, Bluedio R+ (link), and Turtle Beach X12.

The 800s smoke all of those, no questions at all. I'm not sure how they compare to more modern competitors, as I haven't even for a second thought I needed an upgrade. When I had my battery issue (the post to which you originally replied), I actually thought about DOWNGRADING because I didn't think I really needed a headset this good.

So yeah, those are my thoughts.

u/bilbicus · 2 pointsr/BuyItForLife

I have had two pairs of these (first ones lasted five years of SERIOUS abuse) and they sound amazing. Also less sweaty as not right in your ear like buds.

u/CluckMcDuck · 2 pointsr/bodyweightfitness

Maybe these? https://www.amazon.com/WhiteLabel-MusicJogger-Bluetooth-Headphones-Headphone/dp/B00DVEJA7G/

For what it's worth, I could never get over the ear headphones to stay put long enough. I use these: https://www.amazon.com/Sony-MDR-J10-Headphones-Non-Slip-Design/dp/B000092YR6. I know they're technically in-ear, but they stay put and are really easy to clean (wipe down with a clorox wipe).

u/andysaurus_rex · 2 pointsr/headphones

For wireless? I'd go with either the Plantronics BackBeat GO or the Jaybird Freedom Sprint. There's a ton of other options though, but I would be worried about the wireless quality and built quality of anything costing less than $60 or so, but you never know. If I were to pick one of these, I'd go with the Freedom Sprint because it has a lifetime guarantee against sweat damage, which is hard to find. Sweat is a killer to many headphones so if it doesn't say sweatproof, I would be wary.

u/FULL_METAL_HOODIE · 2 pointsr/headphones

The KSC75 drivers fit on the headband of this $4 Parts Express headphone if you don't want to use the clips

u/yuikl · 2 pointsr/headphones

Take a look at the on-ear version of Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 . The over-ear is over your budget but I would pay the extra money for it if possible: on-ear just bugs me too much. Either way, I think they hit most of your bulletpoints, and are foldable w/excellent battery life. Oh yeah, and they're Sennheiser so there's that.

u/tgosubucks · 1 pointr/headphones

Sup y'all, I'm new here. I'm looking into buying these guys:

Budget - Under 100.

Source - Samsung S7

Requirements for Isolation - Maximal. I will be walking to class, in the gym, and at home.

Preferred Type of Headphone - Over the ear, i Want to bathe my ears with sound

Preferred tonal balance - I am a bass head, but i also like to maintain balance

Past headphones - Klipsch Image S4, Bose IE2

Preferred Music - @ the gym I listen to metal, everywhere else a mix of EDM, Rock, Pop, Rap, and alternative. I listen to everything equally.

What would you like to improve on from your set-up: I would just like to upgrade.

This is what I'm currently looking at:

I love these. Not only were they reasonably priced, the charge life is crazy long, it's super responsive, the sound clarity is great, and they are really comfortable. I go running in them 5 days a week and use them when I'm strength training and never have an issue of them feeling loose or uncomfortable.

u/Kustomised · 1 pointr/headphones

With micro-usb the slider works. The volume on everything is way too high with the 3.5mm, like 2% was still too loud.

"Sennheiser Momentum 2 around-ear" are the headphones, bought them from retail shop in Finland.

So is there anything you'd recommend plug it into between computer and the headphones, would amplifier do anything?

Hello, I'm looking to upgrade my headphones from Sony MDR V55s.

I'm looking to spend about £90 ($135), I have seen the Audio-Technica ATH-M50X and the Sennheiser Momentum 1.0 On-Ear for good prices.

I will mainly be using them to listen to music from my laptop or phone as well as sometimes using them for watching movies or playing video games.

Any advice would be very much appreciated

u/Limin8tor · 1 pointr/headphones

Location - USA

Budget - $200 U.S. dollars

Source - Lenovo and Dell laptops

Requirements for Isolation - Minimal, using at home

Will you be using these Headphones in Public? - Rarely

Preferred Type of Headphone - Bluetooth On-ear for exercise

Preferred tonal balance - No strong preference

Past headphones - I have tried the Dylan Bluetooth Headphones Linkwitz Wireless Sports Around Neck Headset, the Jarv Joggerz PRO Sports Bluetooth Headphones, and the WhiteLabel MusicJogger Wireless Bluetooth Stereo Headphones. I liked the WhitelLabel MusicJoggers the best for comfort and usability, but all three have had similar problems of reliability and performance (stuttering, not turning on, etc.)

Preferred Music - Mostly listening to television and movies. Music preferences trend folk-y.

What would you like to improve on from your set-up - I'm looking for a reliable pair of sweatproof, on-ear bluetooth headphones for use while exercising. I don't care for the in-ear headphones, and after trying several different brands of on-ear headphones, I've had the same sorts of problems where the sound starts to stutter or the headphones will not even turn on. I'm looking for a pair that will withstand exercise and sweat and not have these problems.

Any help you could provide would be very much appreciated! Thank you so much!

u/florinandrei · 1 pointr/PS3

> a good pair of wireless headphones

Hey, I got those! (or another, very similar Sennheiser model) I use them with the PS3 late at night. :)

The nice thing is - you can buy additional phones that you can use with the same cradle.

http://www.amazon.com/Additional-Headphone-RS120-Wireless-System/dp/B000EBPJCO/

EDIT: Oh, and the batteries are just regular AAA NiMH rechargeable elements that you can swap when they don't hold that much charge anymore after like 3 years or so.

u/SanjiWatsuki · 1 pointr/headphones

For pure comfort, I would suggest the Panasonic HTF600. It typically sells for about $25 and is the most comfortable stock sub-$30 headphone I've seen. If comfort is your main concern, this is the way to go.

If you want to get things closer to your $10 goal, I'd pick the KSC75. It's only about $15 on Amazon and is very good sounding. In most cases, I would suggest picking up a Parts Express headphone to grab the headband, because it is a lot more comfortable than the stock clips, but in your case I'd understand if you didn't.

If you want to actually go for $10, grab the Philips SHE3590. Of the super budget IEMs, they're the most comfortable by a mile because of their small size. They're not very durable, but that'll be fine if you're looking to use them as a stop gap.

u/valkyr · 1 pointr/SuggestALaptop

He is correct. The soundcard they put inside the G750 is pretty decent, and it has a headphone amp port that improves the sound quality even further. You'd be negating this by using the inline USB sound card that comes with the ROG.

I'd personally say get some good quality headphones, like these Sennheiser HD515 or Audiotechnica ATH-AD700, and add an inline clip mic. Mic quality might not be quite as good, but the headphone sound quality will be miles better than what's inside your average $100 "gaming" headset.

Today I tried listening to music on my commute and the music coming out of my Bose QuietComfort 3 sounded terrible. I figured it was my phone but I just came home and it's juste as bad on my pc.

It's hard to describe really what the problem is, all I can say is I still hear fine but some frequencies tend to just sound distorted, mumbled and whatnot. For example, on this music it sounds pretty much fine until the drum starts, then it starts to sound like a mess. On other songs I can only hear the the rhythm guitar, the baking vocals and a bit the drums, and it generally sounded pretty bad, especially the ride cymbal of the drumkit.

It's really weird, It's like only part of the instruments are problematic but all the others are fine, I can't seem to figure out why.

Any recommendations for a good set of bluetooth headphones? Don't want to spend too much, less than £50-60 ideally (~$100-120), and I just want a neutral sound - no heavy bass or anything. I'd like them to reduce as much sound as possible from the outside. I'll mostly be playing from my iPhone 6 or MSI Gaming 5 motherboard with a wifi/bluetooth card in the PCI express slot... if that's relevant :)

Can stretch the price a little higher if you really think I'll benefit but I don't want to be spending much more than £50-60

How good is the Zalman Mod Mic? I just ordered some from Amazon along with a Sennheiser HD-360. I feel like there is a mixed review that it's really good and at the same time it's super bad. Did I at least make a better choice than a gaming headset?

For home use only (or on-the-go if you're brave, these all leak sound):

Sennheiser HD558

Sennheiser HD518

AKG K240

Audio-Technica ATH-AD500X

Grado SR80e

For both at home or on the go:

Shure SRH440 *

V-Moda Crossface M80

Sennheiser Momentum on-ear

Sony MDRV6 *

have longer cables.

It's not so much a durability thing but a usability thing. You won't to hear everything going you in the subway while listening to music, and the people around you don't want to hear your music either. So that is why I recommend open headphones for home-use only, and closed back if you need pair for both applications.

For the most these headphones are easy to drive, and you should be able to power them straight out of your phone or computer.

I highly suggest reading reviews for all of these as they are very different from each other. My
personal* picks for each application:

At home:

Grado Sr80e

Both:

Sennheiser momentum

How would they match up to the Logitech UE6000 which are around £70@
Thanks

Also

Budget - £60-£80

Source - Phone and Laptop

Requirements for Isolation - Isolation is useful, will be using it on public transport

Will you be using these Headphones in Public? Yes

Preferred Type of Headphone - Full size

Preferred tonal balance - See last question

Past headphones - Had Logitech UE6000. I liked the bass a lot on the noise cancelling feature but the headphones broke so I returned them.

Preferred Music - https://gyazo.com/ef69fbf806953a58fc12503f654355cd.png https://gyazo.com/be49d43e241d5f41470f9f203d3a07d9.png
The two pics above are some songs from my playlist

What would you like to improve on from your set-up - The logitech UE6000 had very nice bass on noise cancelling and relatively good bass too on regular setting however the sound wasn't anything amazing for non bassy songs. The sound was good but I didn't find it significantly better than some £30 Sony headphones I tried in the past. Looking for something that sounds good for regular music. If it's good for bass heavy songs that would be even better

Thanks

I like the Harman/Kardon CL Precision On-Ear Headphones with Extended Bass

You can hear the bass perfectly, even on the subway or an airplane.

  • Type: Over ear

  • Tonal Balance: Unknown

I have no previous headphones and I am looking to get something cheap until I can save to get something in the $200~300 range.

    I found these in Amazon:

I can't do anything without the earloop, and I refuse to wear giant headphones on a run (how?) or in the gym. These have been my go-to for the last few years, look very similar to the JVC ones: https://www.amazon.com/MEE-audio-Memory-Headphones-Version/dp/B0038W0K2K/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=earbuds+me&qid=1563229602&s=gateway&sr=8-3 Full disclosure, I just ordered two more pairs to keep me going but they were recently redesigned and I think fit quite as comfortably.

My wife prefers these as a bud alternative (although she is willing to use MEE Audio set above: https://www.amazon.com/Sony-Lightweight-Behind-Stereo-Headphones/dp/B00LU1RFLU/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=sony+behind+the+neck+headphones&qid=1563229780&s=gateway&sr=8-2 I just don't like how the foam ear covers get sweaty or how they fit under a hat when running outside int he winter.

But yeah, if your headphones are shocking you, you probably should replace them, even with another pair of the same...

Actually thinking of getting these. Retro looking and the gold will go well with the GB. Pricey though

Sol Tracks HD (Around 120-130)

u/yumyumcabanossi · 1 pointr/headphones

What type of music do you usually listen to? Will you be using them mostly at home or during commute? Do you need them to isolate from outside noise?
$50-100 can get you a pretty good pair of headphones.

Not sure what you consider 'plain jane' but have a look at the AKG 540, Grado SR80i and the Braniwavz HM3.

They aren’t apple brand, but they said compatible with iPhones. The mic is detected, but it doesn’t pick up voice. It works fine with an android or iPhone.

They are these headphones

Either my LG wireless headphones (for the gym) or my sol republic tracks (for everyday jamming).

Looking for some cheap Bluetooth headphones and i think ive narrowed it down to these 2. They look very very similar and im having a hard time deciding which one to get. Can anyone offer some advice? Thanks.

I know man, for the last 3 years i've used these https://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-239-Headphones-Black/dp/B005SNPTRS/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1484034032&sr=8-1&keywords=sennheiser+hd+239

They're basically music headphones but man do they sound awesome for games also. But now the earpads have teared and i can't seem to find spare earpads anywhere. And listening to music or gaming on teared earpads make my ears hurt.

Now for the time being i just bought these https://www.amazon.com/Plantronics-GameCom-Gaming-Headset-Games/dp/B00LNJ2YMY/ref=sr_1_1?s=aht&ie=UTF8&qid=1484034163&sr=8-1&keywords=plantronics+gamecom+318

and man they sound really substandard, like on my Sennheiser which is basically only for music, i can hear almost each and every sound in games, but with these Plantronics ones, most sounds seem to be muffed and i can't hear them, the bass is also weak. I mean i know they're no Sennheisers but being advertised as gaming headset i was expecting something more.

So i thought i will invest in a good gaming headset which will be sufficient for next 3-4 or maybe even 5 years.

If you're okay with an on ear design, Koss Portapros are widely regarded as being insanely good for the sub $50 range (it helps that they've been sold without being changed for a few decades). If you have a K-Mart near you, they probably have them. Just be forewarned, they have the tendency to rip out hair if you adjust them while they're on your head.

Edit: Here are the headphones I use for ASMR videos, myself. They're ridiculously comfortable.

  • Budget - Up to around $150, willing to push that a little bit if it makes a difference.

  • Source - Almost exclusively a desktop PC

  • Requirements for Isolation - Nothing really; I'll be keeping these at home and I live alone.

  • Preferred Type of Headphone - Full-sized

  • Past/current headphones - I currently use Sony MDR V-6s at work for podcasts and music, and Sennheiser HD239s at home for gaming/TV and movies.

  • What would you like to improve on from your set-up - The plug on the 239s is dying on me, such that the sound cuts out/fades away when it's not in the perfect position. Plus, they don't stay on my head anymore when I lean forward/backward. I want to replace them with something that has a mostly neutral profile but still has punch to the bass for explosions/gunfire/whatever when gaming or watching actions shows/movies.

I did the Purchase Assistant and it suggested the Sennheiser HD558s, and I just want to verify that they're probably the closest to what I'm looking for.

Fun Fact: Those Beats only cost about $14 to produce.

If the Momentum are not fashionable enough try the Sennheiser Urbanite.

u/hucifer · 1 pointr/headphones

They're a bit over-budget and not IEMS but check out the pink Sennheiser Momentum On-Ear.

They sound great, look "funky" and are very comfortable.

u/Smondo · 1 pointr/nfl

These are remarkably effective if the debators manage to maintain "indoor voices."

Both colors of Koss Porta Pro Limited Editions just went on sale for $49.99 ($10 off the usual price...I have never seen these go on sale). Snag them while they last! I just bought my beige ones last week and they are gorgeous.

I've been reading good things about the SOL Republic headphones that Michael Phelps was wearing at the Olympic tryouts. I'm close to pulling the trigger. I like their unique look. Add a good clip on mic and you're good to go.
