Yes. Turkish here. This is the brand most popularly consumed. I like to use about five tablespoons per batch. You start off by washing the leaves a few times with hot, not boiling water. This eliminates any small particles, and will produce a clear brew. After boiling water in the large kettle, you pour it over into the smaller top kettle with your washed tea leaves. I like to place the small kettle directly on the stove to bring it to a quick boil, just until the leaves rise to the surface. This gives it a richer flavor in my experience. You then place the small kettle back over the large one, and let it steep for about ten minutes over a very low flame. Et voilà, Turkish tea. It's recommended to consume within half an hour/maaaybe an hour, or it'll go bitter and kinda rancid.

edit: they're not speaking Turkish though. Just the method of brewing is the same.

u/MrOtsKrad · 5 pointsr/tea

Im going to go with Sencha and add Dragonwell to that. Do not steep either of these teas for more than 90seconds at temperatures no hotter than 180f.

Also, invest in a nice mug strainer. The frugal and beneficial thing about green tea is the amount of times you can make a cup with the same leaves. Sencha is really only done 3 times, and each steep as a different taste.

Abiding by my dont over-steep/overheat, 2nd and 3rd steeps should be have 60seconds/10f added to each steep Or jsut steep a lil bit longer in a little bit hotter water. There are chemicals that get let go when the water is too hot, and also flavnoids when it is steeps too long. These effects weaken with each steep.

My absolute favorite rose tea is the Signature rose tea from Huntington Gardens in California, which luckily you can buy online. They also have a white rose tea. Some close runners up include Lupicia Momoko tea (green tea with rose petals & sugar) and Pukka Womankind, which is rose and some other flavors, and Yogi Skin Detox rose hibiscus tea. I usually also have some other kind or kinds of rose tea on hand to try, but few of them are winners.

Drinking and sheet masking is a great way to destress. Enjoy!

Don't fall into the craze of getting tea with fruit and whatnot added to it, like every damn tea that Teavana sells. Good quality tea has a complex flavor and, depending on your preference, tastes very good on it's own.

A good loose-leaf black tea, like Twinnings Earl Grey or English Breakfast, is a good place to start, it's hard to mess up. Just measure a teaspoon of leaf per cup (I like to give one full teaspoon, then a half for each cup over one.) boil some water, pour it on, and steep for just under 4 minutes. Add sugar or milk if you like, but try it plain first, I promise it won't be bitter if you practice a few times and don't steep too long.

If you want something without caffeine for evenings, a tablespoon of chamomile flowers steeped for 5 minutes is slightly sweet, has no caffeine, and will help you sleep as well. Just be sure to strain it, lots of little flower bits floating on top of your tea are no fun to drink

u/MagneticPerry · 5 pointsr/boba

I use this powder! I like it because it comes unsweetened so I can make it as sweet as I like.

I dont have exact measurements, but the way I make taro milk tea is with this powder, nondairy powdered creamer (traditionally user in boba shops to make "milk" teas), sugar and black tea. Play around with portions as you like, I think I started at 1:1 ratio creamer to taro powder. Pour that and sugar into hot black tea, stir, then pour over ice. If you have a drink shaker, you could shake the hot tea mixture with ice in that for a better iced result!

I worked in a boba shop for a time and based my recipe off of what I learned there. The "recipes" online are all pretty confusing and I never figured out how to make boba tea at home until after I had worked in a shop. You can follow this method for most milk teas. Hope this helps!

I’ve tried both ways and actually just like to add in a teaspoon of dried buds! I leave it in there until I’m ready to drink and don’t find it that the flavor gets bitter or overwhelming. I use these Organic lavender flowers from Amazon

Started this morning off with some Caykur Black Tea, Altinbas, Turkish black tea. Needed a bit of a major wake-up. Been drinking a lot of Supreme Golden Needle Black Tea or Wu Yi Shui Xian Oolong in the afternoon depending on what I'm feeling. Love the strong bold flavors in the Wu Yi Shui Xian, and the strangely more delicate/light of the Supreme Golden Needle. Although it's not delicate/light overall, but in comparison.

Considering of doing a bit more green tea, although I do find I need to drink green when it's hot rather than it being OK to cool somewhat with lots of my black or the Wu Yi Sui Xian oolong above.

Turkish Black Tea this week! Deep and dark in a strong and slightly bitter way. Too strong for the better half though who promptly added some dried apples to her first cup in a vain attempt to recall her hippy days in Istanbul. For the curious. http://www.amazon.com/Caykur-Black-Altinbas-17-6-Ounce/dp/B000RJARJS

I second everything else said in response to this but I also want to mention that I have heard this tea is really helpful for all things hormonal, including acne! I haven't had a chance to try it myself yet so YMMV but my friend said it helped her a ton with her cramps and chin acne, and it seems like the reviews say similar things. Best of luck :)

Red Raspberry Leaf Tea might help. It's got some vitamins and minerals that have been shown to help reduce PMS symptoms.

I bought it here https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DLLE1NM. It works and the price isn't bad for the weight of mugwort ($2.30 an ounce) and it worked for me but I plan to buy from somewhere else next time

u/Arcendus · 3 pointsr/StackAdvice

From my experience it isn't so much good for sleep "quality" (though it's never had any negative effect on sleep for me either) as it is a virtually guaranteed way to experience vivid, and eventually lucid dreams. I've read that it also aids digestion, but I've never really noticed any effects on that front.

If you're curious to try it, I'd recommend starting with Buddha's Mugwort Tea. It has a pleasant taste, whereas bulk mugwort (while more cost-effective) tastes pretty unpleasant. I usually brew loose mugwort with damiana and chamomile, which helps offset the taste a bit and is an all-around good combo for a bedtime tea.

NOTE: Pregnant women should never touch mugwort. I'm not privy to the specifics, but every time I've read about Mugwort, it says this in bold/caps.

EDIT: Grammar

u/yeahyeahsuresuree · 3 pointsr/LosAngeles

I would just buy on Amazon! Here's taro c honeydew , and coconut !

It's a little harder to find these mixes in store. My family used to own a boba place and we used to buy some of the powdered mixes online from a distributer (can't remember which one though). To get the flavored iced green/black teas, you'd just need to add the mango, peach or passionfruit syrups that you can find on Amazon too.

Oops--I skipped over your note about the bulky sizes. My bad.

u/zootytang · 3 pointsr/mflb

i love peppermint for that reason too. usually i vape in my room (i live with the ‘rents at the moment) and the mintiness evens out the dank.

i usually just grab some organic lavender from amazon (this or this), but i’ve used locally dried lavender from a farmer’s market and that was suuuuper nice.

Harney and Sons is a good brand for bagged tea, the tea bag is in a pyramid shape so there is a little more room for the tea to float around in. Lavender is my go to comfort herb, I would say you are safe with anything that has lavender! Plus, they come in a metal tin, she can save it and think of you even after the tea is gone!

If you think she would enjoy peppermint, they also have that in Harney and Sons - to me Peppermint can be a pep up or soothing, depending on my mood.

u/Hot--Beef--Injection · 2 pointsr/kratom

So ive found my way because I could never convince my friends to throw a heaping spoon of powder in their mouth and painfully wash it down with some liquid to achieve a feel-good state (They would think ive lost it) and I didnt want to kratom all by myself. The best tasting most classy way to take kratom is.......

Smoothie it my friend. Get yourself a nice little easy to clean blender, and obtain some frozen fruit to keep on storage. Throw a handful of maybe blue berries and pineapples in, add some milk and a bit of ice cream (Honey to be healthier and more convenient, shit dont go bad or melt) add your kratom dose and blend that bitch!!! For some added antioxidants or energy boost (As well as yummy flavor) Add yourself a teaspoon or two of matcha green tea!! IT works so well with the kratom (that you can hardly taste) Throw any extracts you wish in there as well. Blue lotus? Fuck it. Kava? Fuck it. THC? Fuck it. Throw em! Got some veggies like kale? Fuck it, throw em in!!!

For the matcha
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001T5GHUM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The more kratom you use the bigger you should make the smoothie. Cons about this is the kratom does add a bit o a weird texture, as if there are fruit peels. But its so easy to ignore. If my snob ass friends could enjoy it you for sure can too. And also cleaning up sucks of course. Your blender will make the cleaning easier or harder or you. Luckilly, I got one of those bullet blender that dont have a lot of nooks and crannies. In the end, its worth it. Im making kratom margaritas next, cause fuck it.

Also if you never had taro look it into, shit makes good ass smoothies. Reminds me of hazelnut at times just not as robust
http://www.amazon.com/Qbubble-Tea-Taro-Powder-Pound/dp/B00CSPMB9I/ref=sr_1_1?s=grocery&ie=UTF8&qid=1422651303&sr=1-1&keywords=taro

Kratom and coffee could pair, but im not sure.

I've heard really good things about fenugreek, but don't know if you'd get too much of a boost from that. I have felt a boost with raspberry leaf tea but it can also dehydrate you a bit, so it can be a trade off.

Also, especially with number one, I could not pump much of anything without looking at pictures of her, listening to recordings of her garble noises, and/or very actively trying to imagine the feeling of her nursing. I just wouldn't get any milk. So, maybe try that sort of thing if you haven't?

If I were in your position, I would not supplement with formula. I would consider cutting my milk with cow's milk to make it last the last month until she can have straight up cow's milk. But when doing that one would need to be incredibly vigilant about her reaction, if there were any. Is she gassy/more fussy? Is she having trouble digesting it/yucky poop? Is she spitting up more? Etc.

Sorry that your time nursing is finishing up sooner then you'd like. Good luck.

That is a very reliable way to produce a healthy SCOBY. If you're seeing some good activity, it may be unnecessary but a fresh batch of tea with sugar and a bottle of plain store bought kombucha will be perfect for sure. In case you're reading something different, here is my recipe for my base batch of sweetened tea (using black tea):

  1. Bring 6 cups of water to a boil
  2. Remove from heat and stir in 35 grams of loose leaf black tea (cover with lid)
  3. Steep for 4 minutes, stirring once at 2 minutes
  4. Strain into clean fermenting vessel
  5. Add 1 cup of sugar and mix until dissolved
  6. Add another 8 cups of cold water
  7. Leave in ice bath or on counter until temp drops to 72-75
  8. Add two cups of starter tea (now you're at a full gallon)
  9. Wash hands and rinse SCOBY under cool tap water to remove excess yeast/bacteria
  10. Add SCOBY to tea and cover with appropriate cloth cover
  11. Ferment at 72-75.
  12. Taste a spoon/straw full each day beginning at about 5 days. If it's not tart enough, let it go another day and taste again. For me, a week is perfect. Just like with beer, an ambient temp that's higher will ferment faster and the reverse is true also.
  13. Once you have it to your tartness preference, pour off two cups for your next batch.
  14. Mix any juice flavorings into the remaining tea.
  15. Bottle and let it sit for another 3 days to carbonate.

A few additional tips while I'm at it:

  • Take a clean plastic jug (mine was a leftover apple juice jug from making cider) and pour in 8 cups of water. Using a Sharpie, mark the water line. Going forward, after each batch, fill the jug to the water line and throw it in the fridge. When you get to your next batch, use that water in the steps above. The colder water will drop your temp faster.

  • I sanitized everything the first time I made kombucha. I never did it again after that and I've never had a problem. Save yourself this step and in the rare instance that you have a bad (i.e. moldy) batch, pour it out and toss out the SCOBY. Grab a new one from your SCOBY hotel.

  • I get organic tea and organic sugar from Amazon. They're cheaper and delicious. (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GA0QVMA)(https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B006CVNF2G)

  • I'm thinking about purchasing a relatively large hop sock to put my loose leaf tea in. I want it to have plenty of room to move around but filtering the leaves after steeping is a bit of a pain in the ass.

  • If you add flavor adjuncts directly into the bottles (like crystalized ginger), make sure to cut it small enough that it will still come out after swelling. I've made this mistake.

  • Invest in clear EZ Cap bottles. They're easy and they look nice with the colored kombucha.

    Good luck!

Had similar pain after laparoscopy. My surgeon said the cyst they removed was on the back of my ovary. It seemed like anything I ate made the inflammation worse. Here’s what worked for me:

  1. Chaste tree berry pills every day +
  2. CBD oil (like a 5:1 CBD THC ratio, if you live in a state where it’s legal) +
  3. Avoiding inflammatory foods (dairy, gluten, alcohol, soy, whatever makes the pain worse) +
  4. Embracing anti-inflammatory foods, like salmon and coconut oil.
  5. Hot yoga 1-2x a week to stretch out any scar tissue
  6. Yogi Tea - Woman’s Moon Cycle
    https://www.amazon.com/Yogi-Tea-Womans-Supports-Healthy/dp/B0009F3QLQ
  7. Avoiding hummus/chickpeas seemed to help but idk if that’s just me

    Other things to try:
  8. Progesterone-only (no estrogen) birth control pills - worked for me relatively quickly but made me feel weird after a few months. I would try again if needed. I don’t think you can take them AND chaste tree berry at the same time, since they both act on your hormones.
  9. Definitely call the surgeon and make sure they know about the pain

**when healing, my body was REALLY sensitive to certain foods. I slowly brought back some gluten (sourdough bread mostly) and occasionally cheese... but I can tell the dairy causes inflammation. Also brought back alcohol but, when I drink too much, I feel slight pain on my right back side creep back until I take or rub CBD oil in that spot.

The higher end hyper premium blends at Breakaway Matcha are extraordinary but super pricy.

Theanine apparently imparts an umami flavor to matcha while catechins make it more astringent. If you’re looking for “liquid meditation” you’ll want an umami-bomb.

I’ve also tried this Ippodo Matcha from Amazon which was excellent too.

If you buy ceremonial matcha, it’s important to prepare correctly. Use water that is no hotter than 165 F (never boiling). Use a sieve and a bamboo whisk or an electric milk frother or you will get tiny lumps. A well prepared cup of matcha should have a green froth on top.

This video shows how the modern way to prepare it.

Matcha is tea powder basically - they powder the leaf so you're drinking the leaf in the tea. It's prepared in one of two ways generally: Usucha, where you get a thinner liquid by putting in fewer scoops, or Koicha, where you put enough powder in to make a thick drink. Both are more bitter than you'd probably be accustomed to. They're good in their own ways, but you'll want to read up on and possibly try a smaller amount of matcha before committing to a lot of it.

Here's a mediocre-quality sounding sencha for <$20 for a pound:

It cost a bit more, but I was just looking for a test sample, and they are actually pretty nice. I'll probably get the stuff that cost $3.00 next time and do it myself. If you have tea bags, just fill them up about half way, grounded. You can also smoke it. I tried smoking through a bong because the smoke was harsh, and I'm not really sure if it did anything besides give somewhat of a head high. But it might be different for everyone.

Are you insisting on Red Bull? I recently started drinking 4c energy, which is a powder that you mix with water (It's cheap with many of the same ingredients). My work keeps free bottles of water for us in the fridge so that comes easy.

I had the same question as you and could not find any cheap energy drinks unfortunately. I'm curious to see if anyone else has answers.

I thought long and hard about this for a few hours, so this is my well-thought out decision.

I want to nominate /u/salziger because she's just the most incredibly kind hearted, helpful person! She's paying it forward every day of her life! She just embodies the spirit of RAOA for me. She acts as a foster-mom to cats and kittens who would otherwise be put-down at shelters! And she spends tons of her own money on super expensive surgeries for kittens even though the shelter tells her to put them down. She believes they all have a chance to live and be happy and loved! I just think she's amazing!

And I think she should have [these] (http://www.amazon.com/Tea-Forte-Single-Steeps-Herbal/dp/B004XN8RWI/ref=wl_it_dp_v_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=G3URUKOC28JJ&coliid=I36ZDDNQSFXMO2) because she's always asking for things for her rescue and foster cats and never asking for things for herself. And she deserves to spoil herself sometimes instead of always putting other people, and kitties, before herself <3

Tyara, I'm not used to the username yet.

Vanilla Comoro - Not only is it my favorite H&S Tea, it's the best vanilla tea I've ever had. I've never tried the Tahitian Vanilla, but I'd be interested to see how you think it compares.

This is the RRL tea I have been drinking. http://www.amazon.com/Traditional-Medicinals-Organic-Raspberry-16-Count/dp/B0009F3PP8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1394634053&sr=8-1&keywords=red+raspberry+leaf+tea

I had 1 cup/day in the first trimester, 2 cups/day in the second, and now that I'm in my third I have 3 cups/day. Once I hit week 38 I'm going to drink as much as I can. FYI it doesn't taste amazing. I drink it with Lipton tea (I just put both bags in at the same time) or sweeten it with POM.

Good luck!

When you buy tea in bulk it isn't all that expensive, maybe only $0.10 per cup at cost to you. With cheap prices you can allow risky purchases as well as making a profit. With Amazon Prime you can cheaply buy lots of fairly good teas in bulk.

1LB Assam Black Tea, $18

1LB Irish Breakfast Tea, $17

1LB Ginger ORange Peach Black, $19

Figuring that each pound of tea makes 150 cups, and you can re seep the leaves once more for a strong flavor you get 300 cups of tea per pound.

For Irish Breakfast Tea you spend roughly $0.06 per cup under the second seep method. You can charge $0.25 and selling 1LB of tea would get you $75, four times the amount of money you spent on your initial purchase.

---

You don't want to start too big though. At $0.25 per cup people would have to be stupid not to buy it, at least that's what they'd think. But you're going to need to advertise and get the word out. You don't want to spend $100 on tea and realize that certain flavors aren't very popular, or realizing that 300 cups of tea sells out sooner than you expect with hundreds of students, or not selling enough tea to double seep your tea.

You also have logistics to worry about, such as how will you be preparing the tea? Will you make it on the spot, or keep it going thought the day? Will you only be doing it on your break? For preparing the tea I'd recommend an electric kettle. I'd also look into finding something to keep the tea warm.

For advertising you always have loud speaker announcements and the student newspaper, but it would be best to prepare for demand by sampling that demand.

---

Take some tea from home, brew it and sell it and see if people buy it. If people are interested, if people are coming back then expand the operation and start advertising. Tell people about how much healthier tea is than coffee. Tell them that you only charge $0.25 (or whatever number you chose) over Starbuck's $3. Hell, sell the "Star's Buck" deal for $3 and offer a prepayment good for 15 cups of tea, that's a hell of a good deal verses going to the coffee shop.

---

Depending on how many customers you have to offer you might start doing some other things too. Charging a quarter per cup you might take inventory of students names and let them pre pay. Steve pays $5 and is good for 20 cups of tea. Sell specialty teas besides black and green for higher prices, offer them as premium teas.

Also some questions you have to ask yourself: hours, are you going to have someone there during the entire school day? Boiling water, seeping tea maybe takes 7 minutes, do you customers have 7 minutes just to get their tea? What about mugs? Do they drink on the spot or bring their own?

I've been making it in my French press...about 1 tbsp per cup...about 3 cups per large French press...

Then after a cup...more hot water about 170 F...and maybe another spoonful of Maté...

I think I'm overdoing it
...just read that someone suggested one teaspoon per cup...oops...

I just bought the Canarias which is all small broken leaves, no twigs...

I've tried a cold brew version but can't remember how that went....

Ps...it made me want to cuddle your wife too...🤓

I really love the fandom blends. Adagio is brilliant for thinking that concept up.

Also I forgot to mention that Amazon has Davidsons bulk tea if you want to get crazy. I've heard the quality is pretty good, and it's 15 dollars for a pound. Which is crazy. Totally worth it, I think, if you really love a particular tea type and just want a boat load of it. They also have probably any type you'd want. I have my eye on the Moroccan Mint and the Earl Grey.

In the same vein, Harney and Sons also has bulk tea, like for the Paris tea.

Yeah, both of the ones I'm seeing on Amazon are things I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on as my first very real matcha.

I noticed that this one is about 2x more expensive on their website. Any idea what's up with that? It's pretty tempting to pull the trigger on it just for that reason.

I'm not sure where you're located, but if you can land your hands on some Harney Tea try anything they make. It's a smaller production place out of New York, that makes all sorts of fantastic teas. Cherry blossom is a favorite, or if you like vanilla flavor, there's a black tea called vanilla comoro that's phenomenal with a touch of honey.

Edit: I decided to not be lazy and looked it up quickly, https://www.amazon.com/Harney-Sons-Fine-Vanilla-Comoro/dp/B000R32F6M

Guess they aren't as small as I remember.

I picked this up at an organic grocery store. I think its delicious. Might be more traditional than you want if you're coming from Starbucks or Teavana but it tastes really nice. It has a little scoop inside. Last a long time.
