Get one of those phone cord twist relief things... I have one at work and it's brilliant.

Your answer is a $5 cord swivel

Yes it is more that the $3 for the cord, but it is a one time deal...

Needs more duct tape!

But seriously, if I couldn't find a way to hide it under the pillar trim then I would use a couple of these:

3M CORDCLIPS 5 Black (Dark 3M VHB) Cord Clips to secure wires from your DASHCAM or other devices https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MT1W3IT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_ZLnVAbHYW13PQ

Yep! The colours of the wire are not USB standard but that doesnt matter, just so long you are keeping them consistent on both ends. The cable looks like this.

If you had a spare outlet next to the computer jack, you could use these too at either end. I plan using it to provide a desk phone for the wife in our computer area but i was the one installing cables so i made sure each desk had a full quad outlet installed for future uses.

This happens if your phone is on the opposite side of your dominant ear. It will also happen if you switch hands once during a conversation. For example, if you tend to hold the phone on your right ear and the phone sits on your left.

Here's how it happens.

  1. You pick up the phone with your left hand.
  2. During conversation you switch from left to right (or before speaking)
  3. Notice how you twist it while switching hands?
  4. Now when you hang up the handset you likely don't twist it back.
  5. Over time you tangle the phone yourself without noticing.
  6. Install one of these for a few bucks and you'll be all set.

The alternative is to either stop switching hands while you speak on the phone or try moving the phone to the other side of your desk if possible.

    Have a good day.

Mother of god... please order these:
Telephone Cord Detangler, Uvital Anti-tangle Phone Cable 360 Degree Rotating Landline Swivel Cord Untangler Black (2 PCS) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07423KW3V/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_ocraBbQ8KDGAS

I've actually wondered if they would do the same thing for Vive cables as they do with the old school phone detanglers

With all the connections involved though, I don't see it as a viable solution and wireless will eventually be the way to go.

u/wonhundo · 2 pointsr/Dashcam

These are the ones I got with my a119s and they work great.

Yes, as long as it has all six connectors and wires and they are in the same order at each end (a straight through cable).

The issue is that "RJ-11" is widely misused to refer to the plastic connector size whereas it refers to the wiring standard. RJ-11, RJ-12, RJ-14 and RJ-25 all use the same plastic connector format and fit into the same socket, but only RJ-12 and RJ-25 have 6 metal connectors and 6 wires. If you just buy an "RJ-11" cable at Home Depot without looking carefully at it you might buy the standard 2-wire phone cable (the "true" RJ-11) or perhaps the RJ-14 4-wire cable (2 phone 2 power or 2 phone lines), and it won't work.

Similarly if you decide to make one yourself with a crimp tool you need to make sure the uncrimped connectors you get have the little metal inserts for 6 connections (6P6C, or RJ-12/RJ-25). Since the typical RJ-11 phone cable only uses 2 pins the manufacturer can save a fraction on the cost of each connector by not fitting the other 4 metal pieces, and if you get one like that it won't work.

Here is an "RJ-11" cable which only has 4 connectors and 4-wires (so actually RJ-14):

Here's a six-connector one (correctly listed as RJ-12):

This is a "telephone to ethernet adapter", so unless you're using one of those to somehow get internet, you have no clue what you're talking about.

u/-inneedofhelp · 1 pointr/Advice

First off, do you know if you live in a one party consent state? If so you don't need to tell the other person you're recording the conversation. I do not know how this works outside the United States.

Second, you'll need something like this to record the calls and then a voice recorder with the thing I linked for it to work.*

Sure thing!

A lot of these were purchased on Amazon for this build, but I do a lot of electronics tinkering, and I usually grab this stuff from Aliexpress and just wait the 3-6 weeks for it to arrive in the US. I had one Pro Micro on hand, but needed two, so I just got the 3 pack from the Amazon seller below:

Pro Micros

Bumpons

Something like this plus this would probably work.

I think it happens when you always make a full rotation of the handset between picking up and hanging up. I think you can mitigate it with something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Rotating-Telephone-Detangler-Clear-Black/dp/B001B0B0RA

u/ZazzlesTheKitten · 1 pointr/HomeNetworking

Last little snag I've ran into, if you can help brainstorm - How will I hook up my landline? I'll move that comcast router/modem (pic 3) into that wall panel, but I need a hardline out of it to connect to my landline phone. There are no phone lines in the house, just cat5e. Is there a way to use a splitter to essentially split one of the cat5e outputs on the wall in a y with phone line on one end and cat5e (going into my PC) on the other end?

Woud something like this work: https://www.amazon.com/Telephone-RJ11-Network-Connector-Cable/dp/B0194M8M8G

or this: https://www.amazon.com/URBEST-Female-Telephone-Ethernet-Adapter/dp/B00RX8I0PY

Try these. I'm about to upgrade to dual monitors.

Ehhh, slip rings are used for data but just not fast data. For those of you that remember corded telephone handsets: https://www.amazon.com/Softalk-21002-Detangler-Telephone-Accessory/dp/B001B0B0RA

It really just depends on the application where they can be used.

u/Chicken_beard · 1 pointr/southpaws

They make little phone cord detangler thingees that are plugged in between your phone and the cord. It lets the cord spin freely/independently of the hand set and prevents this from happening.

u/samisbond · 1 pointr/cosplayers

For the tubing? I was just figuring some typical hose/tubing:

a b c d e f

or electrical wiring for thinner frames:

u/OpticalPrime · 1 pointr/lifehacks

After you untangle it they make swivels for those so they don't end up like that. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001B0B0RA?pc_redir=1407511183&robot_redir=1

>I really didn't understand what she meant by a cord for a telephone

Are you for real right now? Has cellular so taken over for the younger generations that they don't know what a telephone (RJ11) cord is?

On the one hand, I guess I'm not surprised.. on the other, get off my lawn.
