Ok so I got the legs from goodwill for $5 in the box and everything. But I honestly think they have them at Home Depot for like 20. I got the handles on amazon-they were an opened box. They were silver and the legs were black so I spray painted. I did sand it but not very much lol. The color is starlessnight by behr. And to everyone saying they like the wood more-lucky you your wouldn’t have to take the time to paint it! Thanks to everyone saying they like it!! handles ](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MS9NU0O?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share)

They sell electronic locks that use a fob to unlock. Something like this ETEKJOY RFID Electronic Cabinet Lock Hidden DIY for Wooden Drawer Cabinet, Ready for Use & Programmable https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07G5MPC95/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_pleiDb0FXS8CB
I believe they sell ones that use phone apps as well. Wouldn’t wreck the exterior but still lock it so kids can’t get at it.

I ended up using pneumatic hinges on kids chest. Like this https://www.amazon.com/Apexstone-Close-Support-Safety-Hinge/dp/B06XZRSHWB/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1543354605&sr=8-1&keywords=pneumatic+hinge

Couldn’t find a more elegant solution. This has worked well. All hands still 3-D

Paint it, then reinstall the plate with 3" screws.

If you want to you can get a new plate like this https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B000LNMTRS/ or https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00D2K38HW/ so that the screws are not in the same spot as the old screws.

I expect you could have some washers and m3 or m4 pan or cheese head screws on the inside, then have two handles to spread the 12 KG load across 10 holes and 10 washers.

Spring Loaded Surface Mount Handle with Rubber Grip Zinc

It might work with one handle, if you used larger washers.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B06XZRSHWB?psc=1 I bought these for a fish tank lid that weighs roughly 25 pounds and only used one. Even with just one it is almost to powerful. Using both should give you 66# of holding force. They are cheap enough if it's not enough you could go up to 55# struts. Being soft close will help keep fingers from being smashed as well.

My go-to manufacturer is Blum. Never ever had a problem with their hardware holding up, even in rentals:

My personal choice would have been this one

u/workin2hard · 2 pointsr/CCW

I have a consolevault in my truck - and honestly, if they had any sort of return policy, I might not have it today. The fact that they don't should say something too... The overall makeup of the safe is pretty solid - it's thick metal that'd take some work to defeat - but it wasted probably half of the volume of my console because they simplified it to a basic square box and use a top cap to make it look flush - but it wastes an absolute ton of usable space. In addition, the lock is seriously the weak point... it's a simple desk style cam lock. I also don't like that you have to leave the dial on the combination, meaning my kids can see the combo and know it. I'd really like to upgrade it to this and still might (it's made by the same company that makes all their lock options) - but they told me it'd void the warranty... but I really may switch it out. Edit - vehicle is a GMC truck.

You can get 3/4" overlay hinges easily enough. There are lots of them out there.

u/[deleted] · 2 pointsr/DIY

Looks nice. They make round white stickers to cover the screw heads if you want it all white. Like this. Also, this stuff will fill and color match any little chips that it gets.

u/sonoflee · 2 pointsr/HomeImprovement

I found these on amazon - they look like stickers, so might not be exactly what you had in mind, but should do the job. I know Home Depot, lowes and Ace also carry a selection of diy furniture parts in the hardware section, so you might try there.

u/beaniebabiesliedtous · 2 pointsr/WaltDisneyWorld

Best I could do and they're flat and probably knock offs. The ones you want have been retired. Honestly some carbon steel balls (like in a pinball machine) on a magnetic plate and then superglued into place would probably get you closer to what you're looking for.

Blue white and gray would look nice. If you do plain cabinet door faces they would be more reasonable depending on soft close and all. https://www.myscandinavianhome.com/2018/07/an-eclectic-19th-century the blue In this is gorgeous http://www.montenegrin.org/the-bathroom-design-decoration-33/ there’s basics you decide on. Like you like clean so I don’t think open shelves would work. Clean replacement doors and painting it blue or another color would work. Grays I would probably stay neutral with. There’s some now with purple undertones. They might look good but some colors can look funky if your lighting is cool and warm. There are some gorgeous grays like Sherman Williams Let it rain, Morning Fog, Lazy fog and Argos. Cabinets in Adriatic Sea, Blue Nile, Georgian Bay, Regatta for more muted Inky Blue, Denim, Bracing Blue. If you do cabinet knobs there are tons of options. I would stay clean or eclectic. Zahra Premium Quality Assorted Ceramic Knobs- Multi Color Mix Designed Ceramic Cupboard Cabinet Door Knobs Drawer Pulls & Chrome Hardware (20, Black & White) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07R3RTH6N/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_lTV1Db72CMK50, Artncraft Knobs Grey & White Cream Rare Hand Painted Ceramic Knobs Cabinet Drawer Pull Pulls (12 Knobs) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07TCTR7TS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_VTV1DbJWSNGWD , 36 Pack Kitchen Cabinet Handles Sunriver 26 Pack Cabinet Pulls Brushed Satin Nickel 10 Pack Cabinet Door Knobs 3-3/4" Hole Center Stainless Steel Cabinet Hardware for Bathroom Cupboard Door and Drawer https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074SD6233/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_NUV1DbCGD33NF there’s funky pumpkin knobs YDO Ceramic Glazed Pumpkin Knobs Classy Vintage Cabinet Door Pull Handle 6pcs (Blue) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077QN7Z6H/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_JVV1DbPV5SKPN . Otherwise stick with plain. If you plan to add any cabinets make sure the hardware you get can still be bought. I’ve had friends get gorgeous clearance stuff but changed their kitchen and couldn’t find anymore of them. They ended up replacing all the hardware. If you might add cabinets or island and get a good clearance deal buy extra.

Are you just looking to cover the screw/screw holes? Or the entire strip?

If you are just looking at covering the holes, these may help:

https://www.amazon.com/Fastcap-Adhesive-Cover-Caps-White/dp/B0006NICL0

They are PVC adhesive screw caps. They are PVC so they are fine in wet areas, and just stick right on top of screw holes. I used them to cover screws in my vinyl windows, they work very well. They have their own adhesive, if you really want to get crazy with it, maybe use some caulk or silicone or something to apply them.

If you're looking to cover the whole strip, that's a different story. Could buy pvc planks or something, I used those on an outside window frame and with composite decking. They are just plain white and you can cut them with a circular saw to fit. Screw those in, then use the PVC caps for a cleaner look if you'd like...It's a pretty rough surface as-is, so it may not be pretty.

I'd be inclined to find bins to fit the bottom half then install battens on the long sides so a custom fitted bin that's half the total width would slide across to allow access to each bottom half. It means you'd be losing some space but if the bottom bins are deep and he file folds into the bins it could be much less than 1/4 total volume. If the bottom part of his trunk is 18" deep and the bins are 12" tall then he's only wasted 1/2 of 6" for instance. Off the top of my head he'd be losing 1/8 the total volume. Then the lid could have mesh attached to slide underwear and socks in so the space in the lid is used as well.

However here's the hardware you are thinking about using. Think about how to protect what's exposed to the hardware and clearances needed since you are raising and lowering a bin rather than a shelf. You may have to build a box then a drawer that fits the box as the trunk may not be sturdy enough to take the strain of these hinges. There is one review with photo that shows them in a chest but not with attached drawer.

Definitely a worthwhile project if you can pull it off. I love these trunks too. Great for bulky stuff like bedding but a challenge to use daily for clothing.

I did this - not with reflectix but with blackout curtains. Just cut the curtain to fit each of my windows and I use some industrial strength magnets on the frame to hold them up. I didn't sew them into the fabric, though you easily could by just measuring extra and folding it down over the magnet and sewing around it to make a little pocket. I just have a magnet in each of the corners, and take the top 2 off and let the curtain hang down. They don't get in the way, and I don't have to worry about messing around with it too much - they hang right back up super easy! The magnets I'm using - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IYFO7KM

I got mine from Amazon. Make sure you get right size. Blum 33.3600 Compact 33 Screw on 110 Degree Opening Face Frame Hinge, Zinc Die-Cast (Pack of 10) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XJ6YBP7/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_QonMAbZA69QEM

I bought a second hand smoker that didn't line up too well and leaked heat/smoke everywhere until I found a sealant.

https://www.amazon.com/LavaLock-Performance-gasket-smoker-STICK/dp/B01F9FE60K/ref=sr_1_1?rps=1&ie=UTF8&qid=1498888297&sr=8-1&keywords=smoker+tape&refinements=p_85%3A2470955011

I used that on the lid (on the smoker and the lid) along with some latches that locked the lid down to keep it sealed up real good.

Latches: https://www.amazon.com/Accessbuy-Stainless-Spring-Pack-90mm-Overall/dp/B01MR126O6/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1498888397&sr=8-3&keywords=spring+latches

If my explanation doesn't make sense, let me know and I will make a quick video.

I think you're looking for toggle clamps

u/Frozty23 · 1 pointr/HomeImprovement

I might look into that option (and see if maybe I can do it myself -- an excuse to buy a few forstner bits, if it's just one simple cavity on the door).

Edit; Just found this Kreg Hinge jig. I'm a big fan of the Kreg pocket-hole jig, so this may definitely be an option.

u/crazyivan111 · 1 pointr/DIY

I have/had already intended to buy a table saw, router table, orbital and belt sanders, and a power drill. I assume the drill press is just for the hinge cups? I was planning on getting one of these jigs to ensure consistent and even cup placement. Would this be enough to preclude a drill press for the time being?

The shopvac/respirator setup is something I was considering, but will definitely do now thanks to your advice and others.

The edge finish issue is something I keep hearing about but it seems there are a million solutions (spackle, drywall paste, wood glue being the most common). I guess I'll just have to make a few test pieces and see what works best with the paint and primer I end up using.

Thanks for the advice and insight!

u/maddenstyles · 1 pointr/HomeImprovement

Right? I'm going to try this on one door and drawer tonight but this has seriously changed my whole project plan and possibly outlook in life.

Here's the drawer version of the dampers.

Video showing how the installation goes...looks super easy!

Hi, I'm working on a folding gaming table with the tabletop hinged in the middle to fold down. I used these on the underside to provide support but it still kinda sags a little bit. I know I've seen "slide bolt" style braces before that I could use on the underside that would distribute the weight a bit better and keep it from sagging. However, all I can find when I search for that are the kind used for door locks. Anybody have any idea what I'm talking about and what I should be looking for? Thanks.

u/furluge · 1 pointr/gundeals

What kind of lock is it? Is it like a standard cam lock? I was wondering if it could be replaced by something like this

u/staudd · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

it doesnt look quite like this, but you can always just screw in a handle into your current case.
