How about a pedal exerciser just to give him a safe way to burn some energy while he watches TV. You could put up a big world map and track how far he “rides.” Then you could research the different countries as he’s “riding” through them.

I got the XTERRA Fitness FB150 Folding Exercise Bike from Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LYFWKMH/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I read a bunch of reviews between several foldable bikes, and this one won out on being the quietest and sturdiest. For only $115, it has been a great investment. It was maybe 30 minutes to set up, and it fits nicely in the corner of my kitchen when I'm not using it.

We have this one : https://smile.amazon.com/XTERRA-Fitness-TR150-Folding-Treadmill/dp/B01M0L0D90/ref=sxin_3_ac_d_pm?ac_md=5-0-VW5kZXIgJDUwMA%3D%3D-ac_d_pm&keywords=treadmill&pd_rd_i=B01M0L0D90&pd_rd_r=07255046-34d5-4040-9456-58b5950d408a&pd_rd_w=8AjLd&pd_rd_wg=AlHhq&pf_rd_p=eeff02d5-070a-45ea-a79e-d591974b877e&pf_rd_r=Y0ZTZTS55Y9QKXMP6FHE&psc=1&qid=1567628499&s=gateway

Works fine for us. Between the wife and I we run between 18-25 miles per week on it. Over a year of consistent use, never given us a problem, no maintenance needed. Plopped a small TV on the wall right in front of it so we can watch Netflix while we run - makes more than 3 miles on it tolerable. It's not the fanciest, nor does it have the widest or longest belt, but it's cheap, reliable, and fine for those days when you don't want to run outside.

Also, wife and I are about the same weight as you and your husband, so you shouldn't have any issues with this treadmill.

This is the one I ended up getting, but a friend has this one and loves it. I wish the height was adjustable, but it works fine otherwise.

It did kind of make a little squeaky noise at first, but I sprayed the bars (not sure if they have a name, where the pedals join the body) with cooking spray (and wiped off the excess with paper towels) and it's totally silent now. The resistance can be adjusted pretty far: with pliers (for I am weak, apparently) I can get it so tight I can't push the damn pedals. Took me a while to find a happy medium, but it's a pretty neat little thing. Gives me something to do while watching Westworld and the like other than the nothing I'd been doing.

u/SanguineMermaid · 7 pointsr/TrollXChromosomes

I've never rowed before - I only bought it because I needed cardio & my posture is terrible. Maybe the cheap one I bought is magic?

u/AlexTakeTwo · 7 pointsr/AskWomenOver30

I have a teeny machine at home, I am short so the reviews saying that "this is not big enough for tall people" made it ideal for me: rowing machine. Except it turns out. . . I'm so short the machine is actually a little bit too big for me and I need about a 1 inch booster on the foot pedals.

I put it up in my "loft" which is my little workout/meditative space for yoga and such, so it's very convenient which means I actually use it.

u/thecalcographer · 7 pointsr/proED

I got this one, the Stamina InMotion Elliptical Trainer. It’s small and fits in a closet when I’m not using it. I like it because I can do a proper workout on it (according to my heart rate calculator, I can burn around 700 cal/hour on it), but I can also use it sitting down while I’m doing other things and burn calories more passively. There are also a bunch of upright ones on there with the arm workout part, which are bigger but make balance easier.

u/EgoDeus1 · 6 pointsr/rva

Free: Gazelle Edge. I'm the second owner, but it's completely functional. Pickup in the Fan

u/dmartin352 · 6 pointsr/Fitness

I'm a woodworker (amateur) and I think I could build this, but honestly, the best rowing machine you can own costs $900 new, and you can find one for half that on Craigslist (I did). It will last for generations (I'm the third owner of the one I have and it works great):
http://www.amazon.com/Concept2-Model-Indoor-Rowing-Machine/dp/B001A0ZT2I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1344745867&sr=8-1&keywords=concept+ii

u/midwest-of-eden · 4 pointsr/pelotoncycle

I have the Sunny Magnetic Resistance . Got it for $480 (watch camelcamelcamel for price drops). I got the wahoo cadence monitor ($40), I received the wahoo heart rate monitor as a gift, and both cadence and heart rate display on the app screen on my iPad. I put on my pedals/bike shoes from my road bike, as I started in the winter (and recently got new pedals for the road bike now that I know I will get use out of both).

Regarding resistance, the resistance knob turns 10 full revolutions, so I count each half turn as 5 points. If you are lighter or heavier, your “starting point” could be different. I get a great workout.

So what I’m ‘missing out’ on from the true experience is the leaderboard and metrics - specifically output. I am more interested in getting a good workout for myself and don’t need to compare to others on the leaderboard, so that’s not a loss for me. Output and metrics over time would be neat, sure, but for saving about $2k upfront and $20/month, it’s not that worth it for me. I have a friend who has a real Peloton bike, and uses it a small fraction of what I do - it’s about you, not about the bike itself.

I’m super happy with my setup, and would recommend it to you.

u/swancandle · 4 pointsr/loseit

I got one of these cheap exercise bikes to use at home, for the days I don't feel like going out. They take up very little space and it's easy to work up a sweat on them. Also very easy to just hop on and watch TV while you cycle. I highly recommend them and at $100, the savings of a gym membership add up fast.

u/chrispyb · 3 pointsr/Fitness

Make sure you hit this as often as possible

500m repeats with 2 min rest.

4 X 1500, 6 min rest

edit: Also, you will never be big enough at your height to be really competitive at a heavyweight level. If you want to get recruited for college, you will pretty much need to beat the heavyweights on your HS team while maintaining your weight. Aim for at least a sub 6:50 2k at about 150 lbs to be a reasonable recruit.

10min, 9min, 8min, 7min alternating with a partner.

I'm selling:

[Stair climber] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00K6ZURAW/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1) for sale for $75. See the amazon post for specs and reviews. This works well and it is put together so you can try it out before you buy it. I've upgraded to a treadmill so I no longer need it. It's compact and easy to fold up for storage, so it's good for small spaces.

Fitbit Flex for sale for $35, which includes a package of colored replacement bands, a $15 value alone (wrist bands are the smaller of the 2 wrist sizes). The Flex was bought less than a year ago and still works perfectly. See the amazon post for specs and reviews. I've upgraded to one with a heart rate monitor, so I no longer need it. This comes with the setup instructions, charger, and wrist bands. The black bands are little worn, but others are in good shape.

TV stand with Flat Panel Mount for sale for $50. See the post for specs and reviews. I bought this, but didn't really fit my decor, so put it in storage shortly thereafter. Perfect condition and is assembled.

I live near Oracle and Orange Grove.

u/50by25 · 3 pointsr/pelotoncycle

Just got notified that the water rower I've been eyeing is on sale at Amazon for half off the normal price. Debating pulling the trigger, especially if Peloton is going to launch rowing workouts next year. I need to stop shopping for exercise stuff and start actually exercising today! :) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075MB7DM8

u/MasterOfSporks · 3 pointsr/loseit

I was having the same dilemma. Just bought this pedal bike for under my desk at work. It's not the most rigorous workout, but it beats sitting still all day. I like it so far, but I'd keep the height of your desk/chair in mind.

u/CJOttawa · 3 pointsr/Rowing

You linked to Amazon.ca later in thread: $1249CAD is standard MSRP for the Model D.

There's no sale, it's just marked as "$413.03 off $1662.03 - 25% discount" which is a pretty old tactic for drawing attention to a product.

Don't take my word for it. Here's the CamelCamelCamel price history: https://ca.camelcamelcamel.com/Concept2-Model-Indoor-Rowing-Machine/product/B00NH9WEUA

Looks like Amazon bumped the price to $1662.03 on October 25th so that they could indicate a 25% "Black Friday discount."

u/Stikes · 2 pointsr/TreadmillGaming

There are some great options but it totally depends on your setup and space under desk and such. I got this one https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B007O5B0LC
And this is my setup https://imgur.com/PzcL7Cw

u/skittles_rainbows · 2 pointsr/autism

I understand the foot thing. I have Achilles tendonosis. My PT recommended an exercise bike. I bought this one the other day.

Make some Crystal Light or iced tea for him. It is not as good as water, but liquids are liquids. He needs them.

I am not saying get something with animals on it but something small like that. That is his snack dish. He can fill it twice. You are letting him get two helpings, but you are controlling his portions. Its a "compromise".

I hope I'm helping and not just giving stupid suggestions.

u/vimmi · 2 pointsr/Rowing

Sorry I should've specified. It's the model d with pm5 down from 1662 to 1249. I'm also on Amazon.ca if that makes a difference. [Here to see]

A quick google search, and I came across this. I'm not sure if this would work for you, but it's worth checking out.

You can buy a (in my opinion) pretty shitty home exercise ladder: https://www.amazon.com/MaxiClimber-original-patented-Vertical-Climber/dp/B00K6ZURAW

You can buy a very well made, but crazy expensive one: https://versaclimber.com/product/h-consumer-model/

I've only ever used the Maxiclimber, you can definitely get some work in with it, it just feels poorly made. That said, I'm well over 200 lbs and it has held up for me.

I marked things with a [w] if they're on my WL!

  1. Something that is grey. China Glaze Polish Ecollection Recycle [w]

  2. Something reminiscent of rain. Hehe, a watering can [w]

  3. Something food related that is unusual. Miracle Noodles - they're these weird low-carb noodles [w]

  4. Something on your list that is for someone other than yourself. Tell me who it's for and why. (Yes, pets count!) LARPing Book for my friend Dennis. His is missing several pages, which is very frustrating to him. He's endlessly dear to me. [w]

  6. An item that is less than a dollar, including shipping... that is not jewelry, nail polish, and or hair related! Mickey Mouse Cookies!

  7. Something related to cats. I love cats! (keep this SFW, you know who you are...) SmartCat [w]

  8. Something that is not useful, but so beautiful you must have it. Triple heart necklace <3 [w]

  9. A movie everyone should watch at least once in their life. Why? Love Me If You Dare. Everyone should have more French film in their lives. It's a beautiful, artistic, funny, romantic movie. The main characters are hot.

  10. Something that would be useful when the zombies attack. Explain. Cast Iron is heavy! [w]

  11. Something that would have a profound impact on your life and help you to achieve your current goals. For exercise, way easier on my knees than the treadmill [w]

  12. One of those pesky Add-On items. Awesome fabric softener - and I really want it, too! [w]

  13. The most expensive thing on your list. Your dream item. Why? A Roomba. I have pets. I need to vacuum more often. I'm lazy. Also he would be my robot butler friend. I'd name him Alfred or Jeeves or Pennyworth. My cats would be afraid of him. [w]

  15. Something smaller than a golf ball. Pearl earrings [w]

Realistically I'd like to bike, except up hills. Oh, here we are!”. Right?! Also what they sell electric bikes on Amazon? Damn! [w]

Fear cuts deeper than swords!

Grey Tribble!

Reminiscent of rain. If you turned a sound machine on and set it to "spring rain" and put this on you'd think your face was actually being caressed by gentle cooling drops of relaxing rain. :)

Weird food Haggis flavored chips. What? I love tasting new stuff. This intrigued me. :)

For my mom She loves horses. I once gave her an ornament with a horse on it that meant a lot to her. It's become sort of a tradition to get her an ornament as part of Christmas. This one is soo pretty. :)

Book! If you've watched the show I don't have to sell this too hard. :) I LOVE this show and really really want to read this book!

Less than $1. Technically... Digital delivery is a delivery method. It's not a food, polish, or anything to do with my hair. ;)

Cat related!

This key does nothing useful, but it looks awesome!

Across The Universe (movie). I had a friend who had the soundtrack. We listened to it pretty often. It's worth a watch just for the music alone, but it's a great watch. :)

Useful for zombies? Maybe? It's a knife that fits in your wallet like a credit card. It's at least a weapon that you could always have on you so you're ready at a moments notice. :) If only they made a credit card size folding flame thrower. ;)

Life changing. I need to be less fat... :/ This would definitely help.

Add on. My hedgehog loves these!

This is my second most expensive. My most expensive was the one for not being fat... lol. Before I used a wishlist I just added stuff to my cart and then saved it for later. This is the oldest item I've had stashed away. Every camping trip or competitive horse ride I went on with my mom/parents always involved sitting around the fire talking before heading off to bed. Whenever I get the chance to see them (we live in different states now) we still sit around a fire. This just reminds me of good times spent with family and essentially being home...

Bigger than a breadbox. For side table fishy times! :D

Smaller than a golfball. I'm obsessed with stars. I really love this ring. :)

Good smell! I bought the lotion and body spray on a whim when I was at the mall a while back. This stuff smells sooo good. It's like summer time!

Safe for work toy. These things look really neat. I saw them mentioned somewhere else and googled to see what they were. The video makes them look pretty cool. :)

I'm always late for class, but if I had a watch that I couldn't stop looking at I might just make it on time. ;)

Speaking of "can't stop looking at"... I'm obsessed with Doctor Who and David Tennant. :D

I added this to show someone else... I think it's crazy that they even make these. There's an appliance for everything! What beats fresh donuts anytime you want them? NOTHING! That's what... This is why I need that elliptical.. :P

Pm'd what I think is your name! :D

Oregon Cherries!

This is the link for the equipment

Confidence Fitness Slim Full Body Vibration Platform Fitness Machine, Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00COGQ9IK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_K9g.zb0TGE20P

u/GhostBond · 2 pointsr/Fitness

Sorry for all the crappy replies.

It is true that the best piece of equipment is the one you'll actually use.

I'm surprised at the weight limit comment though. I'm in the US, not the UK, this one has a weight limit of 275lb's and is around $300:
https://www.amazon.com/Weslo-Cadence-G-5-9-Treadmill/dp/B007O5B0LC/ref=sr_1_1

NordicTrack T 6.5 S has a weight limit of 300lbs for $650.

Rowing machines are pretty popular, though at the top end of your price range:
https://www.amazon.com/Concept2-Model-Indoor-Rowing-Machine/dp/B00NH9WEUA/ref=sr_1_1
https://www.amazon.com/WaterRower-Natural-Machine-Ash-S4/dp/B000A6QIMS/ref=sr_1_1

It really has a lot to do with what you'll use though. I mean buy one of these and put it in the garage, good chance it will never get used. Who wants to spend 30 minutes staring at the wall of the garage?

Some people buy bikes just because they're more likely to ride them and use them.

u/wondering_person · 2 pointsr/loseit

Hmmm....Understandable. Every gym I've ever used one at has been a life fitness one, but I don't see any prices on their website. Did you check craigslist for any used ones?

Also did you consider one of these things: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0000AS7W2/metafilter-20/ref=nosim/

I haven't used one, so I don't know anything about that except that they're supposed to be low impact.

u/emmygurl09 · 2 pointsr/pelotoncycle

My husband and I have our DIY setup in our garage and absolutely love it! I was hesitant to purchase a new Peloton since I had never been the workout-at-home type and was worried this expensive piece of workout equipment would become a dust collector in our garage. We decided to try the DIY workaround before investing a lot of money into the "real" thing.

We use a Sunny B1805 with the Wahoo Cadence sensor attached to the crank arm. I really wanted a magnetic belt drive and this one was probably the most affordable we found. I wish we had spent a little more and invested in a bike that comes with SPD pedals since I know we will be upgrading those in the near future. Other than that the bike is great and I highly recommend it!

We live in CA where the weather is mild pretty much all year so we decided to put the bike in our garage. We screen cast the classes to a TV we have hung up on the wall using an AppleTV and use our phones to view cadence in the Wahoo app. I also have a FitBit Versa that I use for HR purposes, though it does not sync with the Peloton app (huge bummer).

Other odds and ends we have in our setup: WiHoo Mini Handheld Portable Fan we attach to the tablet holder, floor fan, a set of Bowflex SelectTech 552 Adjustable Dumbells for strength classes (we don't do weights on the bike), and a basic Yoga mat.

It has surprised me just how happy I am with this setup! I thought I would feel like I was missing out by not having the leader board and not being able to track my stats. But I have yet to take a live class since the times don't work well for us west coasters with 9-5 jobs and commutes. And while I would like to be able to see output and resistance, I don't feel like my workout is suffering for not having them. I used to take spin classes regularly and most of those were about feel rather than exact numbers.

We've been using this setup since July and, honestly, I don't see myself buying a Peloton now. If anything I may upgrade to a better bike at some point. But for $20 a month I am getting an excellent workout that dips and sways with my schedule. I don't think I could justify being locked into $40 a month when I don't feel I am missing out much on the extras that come with the full price.

Here's a pic of our setup.

u/vohk · 2 pointsr/homegym

I can strongly recommend to stay far away from gas shock ones and that the Concept series (~$1000) are lovely, but my experience with the in-between is mixed and limited. I suspect they- like treadmills- are just not something that can be done both well and cheap. I can say that water vs. air resistance is much less important than the overall quality.

Spin bikes are a much more economical option if price is a big factor. The design is simple enough that even the more highly rated lower end ones are plenty well built, and they both last a long time while being easy to repair. The cheap ones tend to have a very basic if any built in computer, so if you want programs and such you'd have to go up some or get one separately.

My default recommendation is to stick to the well reviewed low to mid range unless either budget isn't an issue or it's something you love. Less pain if you change your mind down the road.

Sunday: After a few days of thinking about it, I purchased a wind-resistance exercise bike on Amazon. Low-impact exercise is good for depression and if I actually do have osteoarthritis, it's good for that too. I had a similar machine as a kid and I used it a fair amount. It's kind of expensive but I think it'll be worth it if I actually use it regularly. We'll see. It should arrive around Tuesday and if I need help assembling it Amazon threw in free assembly which I have scheduled on Friday. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00F74RX40

I spoke to a person who my ex had made friends with (via text) yesterday... I had spoken to her (the friend) a little bit last year but found it too triggering. Oh man. So I have the craziest item in that it is super expensive and I know I a) won’t ever be able to afford to buy it for myself and b) of course no one else can afford it for me either. But it would be the perfect thing to help me lose weight and be productive at the same time. I’ve heard of a couple people (richer people lol) who have them and love them!

But I also have this and this which are crazy because they are just weird. lol One is a car fridge (who needs that?! lol) and the other is one of the many weird board games I want.

Edit: Realized you said under $25, and the craziest thing I have under that is this. I love all the thinking putties and might buy myself one eventually.

u/AustinLurkerDude · 1 pointr/Austin

I think the two are colluding at some level.

I was shopping for a water rowing machine, its usually $400, it dropped to $300 at Amazon and Walmart on Monday. I checked last night and the same machine was back up to $400 at both Amazon and Walmart! I ordered from Walmart because their 90 day returns is better than Amazon's 30 day, but they're both a necessary evil to keep the other in check unfortunately.

OMG my son loves creepy kids books, and he loved that trailer. That is amazing!! I would love a copy of this book!

So I'm super really excited because today is my very last day as a smoker, and tomorrow is day one of me being healthy!! Once I quit smoking I plan to take up working out to get back in shape (though round is a shape) and this will really help with that.

What an awesome contest, and Yay for you!!!

Edit - raffle phrase. Mcubb may be just a tad bit excited today!

It's this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009QXP77I/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Works well for what I wanted at the time, but the hydraulic nature does mean the pump gets hot and expands so you have to crank up the tension as you go. I used it a lot more in the "winter" months when I got home after dark and didn't want to be outside.

u/guytechie · 1 pointr/buildapcsales

It's not working for me.
"The promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchase."

Not PC related, but was trying to purchase a treadmill, and it the promo showed up. I redeemed it, but it still tries to charge me for the snack.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007O5B0LC/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1

It ships and is sold by Amazon.com.

What gives?

u/allyouneedarecats · 1 pointr/TheGirlSurvivalGuide

I have this stationary bike. I got it when it was on sale for $100, and even got the extra 3 years of warranty (since it only brought the price up to $110 after shipping!). I ride about 20-40 miles a week, depending on how much time I have. I use it in conjunction with my regular workout schedule (so HIIT MWF, bike for cardio on Tu/Th/Sun). I've done 150 miles since January 1. My legs certainly feel stronger, and I know I'm losing weight, but I don't think it's completely through the bike alone.

I didn't know there was a "right" or "wrong" way to ride a bike. I've just been steadily increasing the tension on the pedals and getting my heart rate up.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B014VX254A/ref=ya_aw_od_pi?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I use this and have used this since I was 400lbs. It is sturdy and will give you the best bang for your buck for cardio equipment. I'm 5'11.5" so pretty much the same height as you.

I also purchased a adjustable dumbbell set for 180 (goes up to 100lbs each hand) and a bench for 79 (800lb weight limit). You could have a very nice setup for 700 which includes weight training that you could expand upon later too.

u/SomeUser5000 · 1 pointr/DIY

They sell these ready made and the cheapest are less than $50 (€28 locally). The really nice ones are $150. I doubt you can build one for less than $50
https://www.amazon.com/DeskCycle-Exercise-Pedal-Exerciser-White/dp/B00B1VDNQA
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00P1ANC0O?psc=1

E: then again if you have your desk setup correctly you shouldn't have enough range of motion to be able to raise your legs up that high without your knees hitting the desk. So really, all round bad plan. Just get up and do some excercises every few hours.

u/konamiko · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

My whole list says that I REALLY like clothes and gadgets. I think this says that I'm an awesome mom (at least, I like to think so), and this says that I am perfectly aware of my level of addiction to technology, but I won't let that stand in the way of getting exercise. :P

Both are also from my overpriced list that's really there just for shits and giggles.

u/chugotit · 1 pointr/loseit

This. And I call bullshit on you not having the time to get some exercise during your "busy but sedentary day". Sure, you may not have the time to hit the gym or take a shower if you get sweaty, but you can get more exercise during the day... Walk between meetings or appointments. No time? Park further away and walk fast for a few minutes.

Stuck at a desk on the phone?

Swap your chair for one of these http://www.amazon.com/Gaiam-Balance-Ball-Chair-Black/dp/B0007VB4NE/ref=sr_1_22?ie=UTF8&qid=1325090871&sr=8-22

Get one of these under the desk http://www.amazon.com/Stamina-15-0120-InStride-Cycle-XL/dp/B000PEM63K/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1325090675&sr=8-2

If you can make this work in your office and have the funds, I highly recommend this http://www.amazon.com/LifeSpan-Fitness-TR1200-DT-Treadmill-Desk/dp/B006M2PJV0/ref=sr_1_53?ie=UTF8&qid=1325090932&sr=8-53

Sling some weight while on conference calls http://www.amazon.com/Cap-Barbell-Neoprene-Dumbbell-5-Pound/dp/B002OEU3KC/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1325091060&sr=8-5

My point is that your best chance at success is not to come up with excuses or be a victim. Instead, figure out how to get some exercise, in spite of being busy and having a sedentary job. Sure, it's not the same as freeing up an hour or two a day to 'hit the gym', but if you can get 25% of your exercise requirements addressed without adding a 25th hour to your day, your 25% closer to your end goal.

Lots of little things add up... A little more exercise, a little more water intake, a little more attention to portion control, a little more of your plate filled with veggies. Suddenly, a new you! You can do this.

u/kat3l1bby · 1 pointr/running

I'm debating on this one from amazon for $278

I'm debating it based on the 1st review - comparing it to a more expensive machine, and saying it's good quality, and the 6th review - saying they run 5-9 miles on this 4x a week.

Also price - I'd prefer to be outside, and have a gym membership, but sometimes just wanna bang out a few miles while watching my SO game or a movie we wanna check out....

u/uHoHHunTeR · 1 pointr/Fitness

If I use a bike for HIIT, I usually go with an assault bike

They're a bit pricey though.

Hey! I was looking for optimal workspace suggestions (I have a new home office that I need to sort out) and I saw this so I figured I'd answer- I have one of these bad boys:

https://www.amazon.com/FitDesk-Under-Desk-Elliptical/dp/B00Y1FRULM

Not that exact model, but the same idea. It helps prevent me from constantly getting up and walking around, because I can take my energy out on it. They do make a little noise, but that's probably more preferable to your wobbly monitor problem.

u/IAmNotCreative101 · 1 pointr/loseit

You could get an elliptical or a bike machine for a home machine.

u/ladyboss_1 · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

This is what I am saving for you might like it fitness as for something for the contest this is really nice infuse whatever into you water without the bits and pieces getting stuck in the straw. They also have a pitcher made like it but it's a little more.

I'm trying to save up for a piece of [exercise equipment] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0000AS7W2/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=I1QPKMR72XJ5X0&colid=FNI1C5LMSDH1). This one in particular cause I've used this before at my father's. With me having lupus and a lot of joint pain, I need something to help me lose weight that isn't going to be hard on my knees. This isn't.

u/Rhodie114 · 1 pointr/Rowing

I wouldn't go anywhere near one that isn't a concept II at this point. I've tried several other no-name machines (including models with the water wheel design) and none of them feel right. A lot of the time they just feel sluggish and make it difficult to bring up the rate. There's a reason Concept II has been the standard for years. http://www.amazon.com/Concept2-Model-Indoor-Rowing-Machine/dp/B001A0ZT2I/ref=sr_1_1?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1344003657&sr=1-1&keywords=concept+2

> we would be better off to allow them to leave the dispatch area, walk around the block or something to not only exercise the body, but to clear the mind as well.

the thought of this is nice, but if you're halfway around the block on a stroll and shit goes down, you won't hear the radio traffic/phone ringing/whatever and it will take you more than a few minutes to get back. a treadmill in the next room means you can still hear everything that's going on in the office and get back to your console immediately if you need to.

if your dispatchers have said they aren't interested in treadmills, maybe ask them what they are interested in? our office has talked about under desk ellipticals (like this). we don't use foot pedals but i'd imagine those are small enough that they wouldn't be in the way too much.
