Gently, place this near the edge of their fence. It works.

Have you consulted a veterinary behaviorist or a trainer that specializes in aggression?

Get a leash that says "no dogs" or "needs space." While it won't deter everyone, it's a better indicator for people not to approach your dog.

Is there a reason why you are apposed to muzzles? If your dog has a history of biting other dogs when approached, it could potentially save you from legal rammifications if he injures a dog. It will also protect other dogs from him. Muzzles get a lot of stigma but they're really great training tools, and dogs can be taught to accept and even enjoy wearing muzzles.

While it won't help with catching the people, I've a friend that used something like this with fair success.

Pepper spray for the win. Bless his sorry ass with the seasoning. Next time you see him behind you, turn around and whip that shit out and ask him in a very assertive voice, "Do you know what pepper spray feels like? I've heard it's like your eyes are on fire".

Or you leave the gym, he leaves 50 feet behind, then your boy friend and his 3 large friends leave 100 feet after. They 'catch up' and he trips and falls off the curb. 23 times.

As much as I hate shitty people with shitty dogs, maybe try something less likely to hurt the dog if you, say, sprayed it in the face with Cholula laced with cayenne pepper...

Co-sign the dog hammock. We went with this one on Amazon and we’re pleasantly surprised. Keeps all dirt/sand away from the floor areas (although we have weathertech already) and has the ability to unzip one side for a single passenger.

We rarely have passengers so it works great for us!

As a pet owner, this is the best purchase I have made. Our one cat had issues with the couch too, and this is the only thing that got the smell out. It is super loud, but it's been nothing but reliable for the last two years.

Also we have these (I couldn't find a UK link, but maybe you can find something similar) and we keep them on our couch when we're not around. We haven't had an accident since.

Sound Alarm for Pets.

I was having trouble with my dogs getting on surfaces when we were home but not supervising as well as we should have been. These are an affordable option to try if it's happening when crating isn't an ideal option. It just sets off a high pitched alarm so not only does it deter the dog from getting on the surface, it will alert you when they attempt to get on the surface. Now I don't even have to have the dang thing turned on, the dogs see the mat and know to stay off. I bought one for all my couches and my friend uses them in place of dog/baby gates to block off certain rooms.

u/Odie-san · 2 pointsr/aww

I used to use the exact same model bark collar on my mini-schnauzer. Watching him "learn" not to bark was heartbreaking and hilarious, because he'd yelp a little bit, but he'd also make the weirdest faces when it'd go off.

We've recently switched to one of these and it's worked wonders for both him and my conscience.

(I don't get any money for posting this link, by the way, I bought mine from a local hardware store)

u/satsugene · 2 pointsr/Dogfree

Unfortunately, I do not have any specific product recommendations. I'd say in general look at amazon reviews. The highest rated ones are:

Modus Anti Barking Device, Ultrasonic Dog Bark Deterrent and 2 in 1 Dog Training Aid Control Range of 16.4 Ft (4xAAA, Handheld, On-Demand Button Press)

KCSC Mini Bark Control Deterrent, Anti Barking Device, Dog Training Tool, Stop Barking, Safe for All Dogs, Indoor & Outdoor use, up to 50 Feet Range (Upgraded) (1x9V, Passive, runs all the time when switched on)

However the page from the first model says:

>The conditioned reflex of the dog usually takes 3-10 days to form, adapt and consolidate. During this period, the owner should continue to train the dog patiently. If you can't achieve the results you expect, we are very sorry, we will do our best to improve the performance of the products.

>
>Note:

  1. The product may not be effective on dogs with hearing problems.
  2. The product cannot be used for dogs under six months.
  3. This device is not intended to provide protection against aggressive dogs.
  4. Different dog breeds may react to the ultrasonic sound differently. [ People who train their dog to "come" when they make the noise might actually be attracted... ]
  5. For optimal results, please use the product as a training aid, along with other tools/commands. Be patient during this training process.

They are typically sold for training your own dog so the documentation and pages tend to focus on using it to get a dog to do whatever it is you want. How they work on neighbors dogs or dogs in the general public (single encounter) to stop barking/approaching might be different. The comments might give an idea how well it works for those those off-label uses.

The basic idea is that when the dog starts barking, fire the device as quickly as possible and stop it as soon as the dog starts. The idea is that the animal hopefully puts together barking and an unpleasant noise, and that the unpleasant noise stops when they do. This makes me think the on-demand button press will work better, but people might see you carrying it.

If you leave it on all the time, to make a "bubble" around you, it might cause dogs that were not barking to start barking. Ultrasonic sound is also highly susceptible to walls and obstructions. More or less assume it is "line-of-sight." Low-frequency sound like bass travels better though physical obstructions. Non-handheld ones putting it in a purse or backpack might decrease its efficacy.

KONG works wonders for me. Half-freeze it and boom! Endless puppy satisfaction. It's really strong and you can put treats in it entice your pup. As fuckmylife112 says, rotate your toys so that your pup won't get bored. I also use those rope toys (tug-of-war toys) because they're also pretty strong. Do note that you need to reward good behavior and use a stern but warm voice when correcting your pup like yelping when he bites you.

If toys don't work, you can use an anti-biting spray. Spray it on the things you don't want get chewed on and once your pup tastes the bad flavor, they are less likely to bite again.

There's this so called indestructible chew toy (with a guarantee, never used it but many people are worshiping it lol) if your pup is a death machinehttps://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0042JJB82/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B0042JJB82&linkCode=as2&tag=territerri-20&linkId=R63I4QQQKB7BCLBS

EDIT: If you can't have these things delivered, you can buy those rope toys from the pet store or a supermarket in the pet sections. They're pretty good if you buy those tight and thick ones. Squeaky toys are really good too. Wipe some peanut butter on them if your pup doesn't seem interested and reward good behavior.

I also found ice cubes or iced toys really good too. The coldness soothes the gums and helps your pup.
You can get rawhide (get the big ones) but you need to supervise your pup when does chew on it because there are certain cons this https://www.dogingtonpost.com/rawhide-good-bad-ugly/

Good luck!

Hi! That cage looks like a good size for two degus but my only concern would be the shelves - are they plastic? It's better to go for metal or wood because they chew everything and plastic may not be best for them! I will link the cage that we bought for the two degus we adopted - they love it and it's a great size!

I don't know why this is being downvoted. There are lots of ultrasonic bark deterrants which emit an ultrasonic tone in response to barking that the dogs don't like but people can't hear. These work fantastic with some dogs, not at all with others. /u/76oakst won't know if it works until they try it. It would be worth it to me to buy one if that is was the solution and see if the person taking care of the dog will put it inside the house.

There are lots available. Here is just one example: http://www.amazon.com/PetSafe-Ultrasonic-Indoor-Control-PBC-1000/dp/B00068R98C

I would recommend getting a harness similar to the one I have, link provided below. There are several warning messages to choose from to suit your dog. I understand your frustration. My dog has the ability to seriously injure or kill another dog that runs up to her and she was trained as a fighting dog unfortunately before I got her so I always try to warn others around me. I'm looking out for your dogs safety, I know my beast will be fine! Sounds like you are in a hellish situation and my thoughts go out to you....hope it gets better!

> there is no noise ordinance.

Simple soloution... AIR HORN.

If there is no noise ordinance, and the dog's owners wont train them, blast them with an air horn.

Or, if you want to risk some HF interferrence... these might be an option as well.

Sunscreen for my cat so her nose doesn't burn and this to get my head straight.

Thank you for the contest and I hope you have a wonderful night!

u/ferrethelppls · 1 pointr/ferrets

Have you looked into this? It's made from apple bitters so it's safe and non-toxic, but it tastes HORRIBLE and smells very bitter and pungent if you get up close (i.e. your ferret would smell it right at the stove, but you wouldn't). If you do try it, do not just spray is at the offending area, it will diffuse through the air and you will taste it for days. Saturate a paper towel and wipe down the front of the stove and the area in front of it.

My dorm apartment stove had the bottom drawer, so I duct taped pieces of pizza box cardboard (the narrow edges) to the bottom of the drawer, but not to the floor, so they moved with the drawer, and then coated it in bitter spray, which the ferret I was babysitting at the time got grossed out by as he was trying to dig away the cardboard. So, maybe consider blocking it until your fuzzy learns to not want to play there?

We also got one of those signs from Amazon that says please don’t ring the bell. Some read it, some don’t.

The dogs have only woken the baby up a handful of times in the last 4 months, if that gives you a little hope. If the baby’s in a deep enough sleep, the barking doesn’t bother him.
