Good guide. Especially the method of drying. ;-)

That said, I recommend against nail polish and nail polish remover; polish doesn't set as well as enamel paint, and thus, it won't last as long or look as nice. One factor to this is that enamel paint settles flat better than nail polish does - the latter tends to curve inward or bulge outward, depending on exactly how much there is, whereas enamel paint can be polished off relatively even to the gun surface. Here's a comparison, with nail polish on the left and enamel paint on the right, and here's the final product. Note that this method also works on plastic; I filled the etching of the Crimson Trace laser as well.

Instead, I recommend Testor's 1168 Flat White enamel paint, which can be found at most hobby supply and arts & crafts stores. I apply with a very thin brush or with toothpicks, depending on how fine the work needs to be. I'll stick the tip directly into the etching grooves so that I don't end up with bubbles. I try to keep the coat relatively thin, but just thick enough so that I can't quite see the etching through the first coat when I'm done. (More on the second coat shortly.) Let it dry for an hour with a fan on it. You can sometimes get away with less time, or use a hair dryer to speed up the process, but I've found less than an hour (if you don't use a hair dryer) leaves the paint too tacky and more comes off than I'd like.

To clean up the excess paint, don't use paint thinner - not even Testors. Paint thinner will, well, make the paint too thin. This makes it too easy to accidentally remove paint from the etching that you want to leave behind. Instead, I use Hoppe's No. 9 Bore Solvent. It works similarly to paint thinner but isn't quite as powerful, which means it doesn't thin the paint as much. It's also a useful gun cleaner, so it's handy to have around anyway. :-)

Use a combination of cotton rounds and makeup sponge wedges, both of which can be found in the make-up section in most grocery stores or pharmacies for a few bucks per bag. The rounds are good for broad strokes to wipe away larger amounts of excess paint, and the wedges are good for detail work or to gently swipe evenly over the etching without pressing loose cotton threads into the etching. I try to do as few wipes over the actual etching as possible - the more you wipe the etching, the greater the chance you remove paint from inside the etching. Don't press hard, either; just press enough to maintain contact; let the solvent do the work for you.

Let the paint dry for another hour, and then apply a second coat. Odds are good that you've accidentally removed too much paint in some parts of the etching, especially where it's thin or has sharp corners. Then let dry for an hour, remove the excess with Hoppe's again, and let dry overnight to fully cure.

This will probably take you around a total of 3 hours to do, but it's worth the extra time - it looks beautiful and will last forever. Obviously, you'll need more beer for this method, but OP says you can get a 30-pack of Miller Lite for $18. It may suck, but after 30 of them, you probably won't care.

What makes this so pointless is you can get a full set on Amazon for 10$.

A cushion foundation is shaped like a portable powder compact (just a bit bulkier) but with a foundation-soaked sponge inside. Also a little puff and a mirror for portable application. Sephora's cushion foundation selection is pretty limited, but it's a K-beauty trend and if you do some reddit research you shouldn't have a problem finding information about what's available from other retailers (1, 2)

Coverage varies but the general expectation is that cushion foundations will have light/medium coverage at most. The most affordable and easily accessible option if you're in the US is probably L'oreal's cushion which you can find basically wherever L'oreal is sold.

The drawbacks to cushion foundations are that you get less product than in a traditional liquid foundation, so you run through them more quickly (this is the same as with stick foundations). There's usually an option to just buy a refill sponge when you run out (cheaper than getting a whole new compact).

Cushion foundations on the whole do have the stereotypically K-beauty "this comes in 5 shades of pale beige" problem. It's gotten a little better across the board but it's still hard to find deep-dark options.

If you can't find a formula and shade match that works for you, you can buy an empty cushion and fill it with a liquid foundation of your choosing. I've done this; I don't really wear foundation often enough to give it a ringing endorsement but I enjoyed it and thought it worked well.

[resubmitted, forgot to use np links. as usual.]

u/cassandrawasright · 13 pointsr/muacjdiscussion

I use this foundation and love it! For reference, I have combo/oily skin.

I think it's important to make sure you skin is properly moisturized. If my skin is thirsty then it doesn't blend or sit as nicely. I use the Becca Backlit Primer all over my face then draw some streaks with the ABH foundation. Then I grab my brush, one of those fake Artis brushes, and I put a little bit of the primer on it as well. I guess using an oil would have the same effect, but I definitely don't feel as thought I need something as serious as an oil to blend. It blends like a dream this way! I think the important part is having a nice dense brush.

u/missyanntx · 10 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

Real Techniques! I've recommended it to all of my friends, all of them that have bought it (3 or 4?) have thanked me and raved about it. I've had mine for about a year now and it's still in perfect condition, it's an all around great brush.

One option that I've seen on here (but haven't tried) is using a stippling sponge. I believe that Goss used a similar product in a video.

(Sorry, I can't find the video right now but if you poke around youtube a bit, you should be able to find it!)

Edit - found it!

I like Real Techniques' Lash Brow Comb (http://www.amazon.com/Real-Techniques-Lash-Brow-Groomer/dp/B00A7H8ECW - it's cheap on Amazon! Compare to $6 at ULTA). Does the job and you can clean with makeup remover. :)

u/Dubaya · 7 pointsr/wicked_edge

ok well here is the thing. preping your face right is more important than the razor you use. you are using a fine razor but that goop you are using for shaving cream can actually be working against you getting a great shave. the propellents and chemicals in that can that make it so convienient and awesome can actually dry out and cool your face. Generally when you are shaving you are trying to add water and warmth to your beard area. this softens the hair to let them be cut as easily and closely as possible.

so basically you need to switch out that can for a shaving brush and real shaving cream. and dont worry it doesnt last 5 shaves. a tub of taylor of old bond street will last 3-6 months and thats if you are using probably more than you should.

since you linked amazon primed items i will suggest this brush and this cream. if you dont mind spending a little more moneyon the brush this synthetic brush will be a little bit more efficient with your creams and it will be ready to go right out of the box. Meaning it will be as soft as it ever will be and you wont have to get rid of any wild animal smell like with the boar brush.

edit: i forgot to add you will always probably have to do atleast 3 passes and touch ups for a bbs shave not sure what your routine is but you said you never get close with just wtg. de razors work by beard reductution each pass. so you start wtg. then do across the grain. then finish against the grain. relathering between each pass.

THESE VIDEOS explain it better than i ever could

In the morning, I apply this Senka chemical sunscreen. Later in the day, I use the Skinfood Peach Cotton Pore Sun Pact SPF 42++++. Obviously there are set backs to powder sunscreens, such as not knowing if you're actually getting enough product/coverage on your face. As I am mostly an indoors person, I find this suitable for me cause my UV exposure tends to be more "incidental". I have also tried both the SuperGoop powder sunscreen and the derma-e dupe of the SuperGoop one, and I didn't like either of them because of the brush mechanism. I think the idea is neat, but the execution is a big nope for me. When I am purposely going to be out in the sun again, then I use a custom cushion filled w/the same Senka sunscreen, and then use some of the Skinfood powder on top to get rid of the shiny/dewy look lol.

EDIT: Ok, this totally slipped my mind, but a lot of Asian SPF powders contain talc. If you are looking for something without talc, I have personally been recommended Vintorte Mineral UV Powder before (JP name: SPF50+PA++++ ミネラルUVパウダー) but since I still have my Skinfood compact (and even my SuperGoop and derma-e powders lol) laying around I haven't bothered figuring out how to buy it outside of Japan aside from maybe bugging a friend to buy it for me. It is on YesStyle, but it costs like 2x as much on YesStyle as it does in Japan.

I really like the BS Mall brushed from Amazon! It's a set of 10 brushes that are like Kabuki brushes, dense and packed tight. I use the set for my face makeup and for $10 USD it's great. Check Amazon to see if you can find it in the UK. I'll try to link it once I'm off this train. :)

Edit: it doesn't seem like UK Amazon has the exact set but there are others and you can definitely go on YouTube searching Amazon brushes. I personally think they're good and if you do Amazon prime, it's free returns!

The largest of these oval brushes is HANDS DOWN the best brush I have ever used for foundation. And I absolutely adore one of the more medium sized brushed for cream blush application.

Haven't found a good use for the other ones in the set but for 8 bucks I'm good with obsessively using only two. :-D

  1. These brushes. Because they're soft and nice and help me look less dead when I go out into the world of living creatures.
  2. Terek Noir!

I have not used any WSP best badger, but I have owned three WSP brushes, and they're all quality items.

Specifically, I have the WSP Stubby in "Superfine." It's a marvelous brush and feels wonderful.

The Best should have less scritch than your Pure, and a bit more backbone at the same time.

Other nice brushes on Amazon might be something like:

u/BellisBlueday · 4 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

I got a silicone tip brush and it works a lot better for me (still not great, but that's my skills) also easier to clean!

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Real-Techniques-Silicone-Liner-Brush/dp/B00GXFZHD6

u/ZombieButch · 4 pointsr/learnart

If it's dry, you can just scrape it down with a palette knife or sand it down with some fine grit sandpaper. It doesn't have to be, like, smooth as glass or anything, you just want to avoid any big piles or little spikes of paint.

In the future, if you do your underpainting with pretty thin paint for your darks, you can wipe away the light areas with a rag or paper towel. If you're working in oil paint, cosmetic wedges are awesome, and tonking is a really useful technique for pulling up excess paint while it's still wet. (It may work on acrylics while they're wet, too; I don't really use them but unless there's some kind of extender in the medium I would think it'd dry too quickly.)

I have tried out a lot of eyeliners. I always seem to come back to the Elf brush liner. I guess I really like their formula. Plus, they are really cheap. What you can do is buy one of those silicone eyeliner brush and use that instead of what it came with.

u/TheKittenButcher · 3 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

I bought this pack of false lashes from amazon, they're one of the less-full varieties that were included in the box.

u/lambchops0 · 3 pointsr/Makeup

Ah, Another european. Everything is super expensive over here :(

Here are some recommendations:

I got a mini Models Own set - http://www.boots.com/en/Models-Own-5-piece-Brush-Set_1211220/

I was pleasantly surprised with the quality. There is a powder, angled, blending, shading and lip brush. The middle 3 should be good for most eye looks.

Eco tools are also a good brand. Several of my friends use them and I have seen others on reddit comment on them positively. Something like these are efficient http://eu.iherb.com/EcoTools-Eye-Enhancing-Duo-Set-4-Brush-Heads/55067 as is this set - http://eu.iherb.com/EcoTools-Fresh-Flawless-Complexion-Brush-Set-5-Piece-Brush-Set/46977

I've heard you can use eye tape to make the hooded eyelid match the non-hooded (double hooded?) one.

Edit: There are tons of videos on how to use eye tape.

u/skelezombie · 3 pointsr/RandomActsOfPolish

Okay so there's lots of places you can get things, but with some of amazon you might not get things in time so keep your eyes peeled, I'm linking random ones for you. It'd be easier to build your own basket instead of trying to find one. What I would suggest is:

-dotting tools like this

-brushes for art/cleanup like this

-clear stamper/scraper like this

-some stamping plates like this

-liquid latex (so her fingers don't get messy when doing different nail art styles) like this

-makeup sponges (those triangles, for gradients) like this

-striping tape like this

-good base coat (people really like nail envy by OPI and ORLY bonder) OPI ORLY

-good top coat (Seche vite is great) like this

I didn't pay much attention to the prices but a lot of those tools can be purchased fairly cheap, the most expensive things are the polishes and some stamping plates (some are very cheap and can be not so good, some are more expensive but are more likely to work well)

If you need more help let me know!

I went with Ariel for my Disney Princess look!

Sorry for the last two, my flash hates me. D:

These brushes would be my item of choice!

u/chloekatt · 3 pointsr/ProductTesting

This was the one I got: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B017B9SSOW/

Both sets look fairly similar, but are different brands. But for all we know, they could have been made in the same factory in China and just had different labels put on them. Especially strange that we both had similar problems after using somewhat similar looking sets of makeup brushes....

u/Lrs8855 · 3 pointsr/Warhammer40k

For the weathering, he uses quite a coarse sponge.

Personally, I prefer using: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003BMGAFI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Very even coverage for weathering effects, making them seem more genuine to me.

Cheers!

u/capslion · 3 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

These cheapo lashes. They're natural enough while still being glam lashes, and I like that the band is clear to help disguise that you're wearing falsies.

u/1877cherns4cherns · 3 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

Ugh. I know how frustrating it can be to not know where to start. Hopefully we can help you!

I would agree with the previous comment. Go to Sephora and get color matched for a foundation and a color-correcting undereye concealer. You have beautiful skin and I think a light coverage, but Dewey foundation would be the best (I really like the Bare Minerals liquid foundation).

As for blush, I would stick to warmer colors to best flatter your skin tone. This Sleek blush palette in Lace would be a great place to start. Great value, great colors, and it will give you an idea about what you like.

Invest in a quality eyelash curler (important!). Curl as close to the roots as possible and work your way up. Find a drugstore mascara you love.

I'm pretty ignorant about eyeshadow, but I think the Naked 3 palette or any rose-gold palette would look gorgeous on you. You can use a concealer as an eyeshadow primer.

As far as lips go, it's a matter of experimentation. I think warm, rosy colors would look incredible on you, especially if they have a hydrating formula. Ask a Sephora makeup artist to show you different shades, and you can find similar ones at the drugstore.

Quality brushes are essential when starting out. Don't skimp and you'll never look back. You will need a foundation brush, a crease brush (you can easily use this in crease and on lid until you get a flat shader brush specifically for the lid -- just clean in between colors), and a blush brush. Later, you can invest in a fluffy crease brush
for better blending and a flat shader brush.

I hope this helps! Try some things out, and post a picture when you're gone so we can give you CC. I would use a better quality picture next time, so we can see :)

Have fun!

I would recommend this brush, which is large and soft and performs very well. It's a little large for face lathering, but I think it would be just the ticket for legs.

For soap, I recommend you try a pack of samples from HoneybeeSoaps.net. It's quite a good soap (with shea butter), is inexpensive, has a great range of fragrances, and the samples are thin pucks. Get a bunch and see which you like most. (Fresh Lemon is great, FWIW.)

u/stupidminnow · 2 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

I can only speak from experience doing makeup on someone with hooded eyes. I used a Sigma E25 for the majority of the blending especially for the outer corner/outer crease. I did use the E40 which is bigger for initially laying down a transition color, but looking back it wasn't necessary, I definitely could've used the E25 for that as well. For more precise definement of her crease I used a brush similar to this Sigma (again lol) E45 as well as for blending out the lower lashline.

u/OriginalMisphit · 2 pointsr/AltLadyboners

I’d recommend 3 things: an eyeshadow primer, shadow of choice, and a brush. Primer is a paste that makes shadow go on smoothly and last longer than without it, ELF makes a good one that is inexpensive. Just smooth it on your eyelids with your fingers. For shadow look for something matte or metallic. Glitter gets messy so if that’s what you want try to compare and find one with smaller glitter. For a brush, look for one that is rounded at the end of the bristles, and about the size of a chapstick tube if that makes any sense. Like these:

Real Techniques Eye Shade + Blend Set Makeup Brush Kit For Powder & Cream Eyeshadow https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N1MKXEM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_JOD7Cb1JC6GCB

When you do it the first time, remember makeup takes practice. You might not want anyone to see your first attempts, for cleaning I recommend micellar water on s cotton ball, then washing your face however you already do. All of these things are at any drugstore.

i'm not 100% sure what your troubles are, but if you're talking about your eyelid crease moving down causing a "monolid" at times, potentially eyelid tape might be what you're looking for. http://www.amazon.com/D-U-P-Wonder-Eyelid-Tape-Extra/dp/B000V2F6BU
instructions for how to apply: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4zKvZBK2QKQ

if you're talking about reducing puffiness in your eyelids, a cold compress for 10 minutes at a time might help you out. cold causes vasoconstriction and reduces edema, kind of like icing a sprained ankle. wrap your ice in a towel and no longer than ten minutes without taking a break though; you don't want a frostbite. to prevent puffy eyes, you can think about elevating your head on more pillows or even elevating the head of your bed to reduce the amount of fluid that collects in your eye area.

Currently using Missha Essence Sun Milk (SPF 50+/PA+++), and like how it wears under makeup. I am planning to try the Etude House Sunprise next, given the hype.

I’m ordering DIY Cushion Compact for easy reapplication over makeup with my upcoming vacation to NOLA.

And of course, wearing oversized sunglasses with UVA/UVB protection and a hat with the same are the best measures you can take for your sensitive eye area and often overlooked scalp - particularly if you’re facing the sun each day for hours at work!

If it was my birthday I would love, love to get some new brushes, a new NYX lippie, and this lipstick scarf!. It's my party!:)

"Um. I...I just don't know."

I misunderstood the assignment and did a screen shot. Then I discovered some fantastic stickers on my phone. So here is all of my mobile inbox.

The first is my BFF with his constant words of wisdom, the second and third are my friend Marie who for some reason has two phone numbers (one is just for pictures), then my friend Rachel who had sent a pic of her lovely daughter Eleanora, then Richard who is a handsome gentleman friend I'm trying to make more than a friend, then my boss's reaction to The Ultimate Warrior dying last night (he'd just gone down to New Orleans for some big WWE thing where that guy had made an appearance), then a message from a creep from Tinder who didn't understand how inappropriate it was to insta-follow me on every social media site and was not a fan of taking no for an answer (I gave him my number so he would give me his and then I had something to give to the cops, if it comes to that), then a message to a delivery driver who was dropping off some equipment yesterday.

So ta da. Link to an item from my 5 and under list

I've had that happen from a random foundation brush I got at TJ Maxx! My nose started breaking out and peeling and itching; it's like it was exfoliating my skin and I was maybe also allergic to it. Bad times.

Like someone else said, Elf brushes are great! I also LIVE for the basic EcoTools duo and this Wet n Wild blending brush. I can do pretty much all my eye looks with just those three brushes. I've also got a couple from Sonia Kashuk (which I think is Target-exclusive, so hopefully you're in the US) that are quite nice. And, like others have said, Real Techniques is really nice too! I highly recommend their face brushes and their blending sponge. (I do NOT recommend the EcoTools sponge. I've never hated a sponge more.)

You don't have to spend a ton! You can get a really great set of brushes, curated by you for your own needs, just in the drugstore/Target.

I hope this doesn't seem like a cop-out, but I don't know what it is yet! I have Chocolate Bar and am planning on getting a new palette SOON, either Lorac Pro or Pro 2 (or something else, I'm not 100% sure yet). So whatever my fall color will be will be on my new palette, whatever that is.

Speaking of, I have my eye on pretty much all of the Sleek palettes, though I don't know how work appropriate they would be...but I especially like these:

Okay, that's several things and not all palettes but I'd be tickled to get any of them.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! I think it's neat we found each other on here again; I just hope I can be more active these days.

Sorry for the delay in replying! So I got the brushes from this link: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00I3VHKVK/ and this link: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01EWBYUDU/ for a great variety of basic eye and face brushes. Paid about 16 bucks total, and that should still be the price! The bristles on the first set are so dense that I needed a separate dusting brush for brushing off loose powder/finishing my foundation beat, and luckily i already had one. If you don't, this one looks excellent: https://smile.amazon.com/EcoTools-Sustainable-Materials-Synthetic-Packaging/dp/B001KYVLSU/

As far as wigs are concerned, I look at wigs marketed to both white women and women of color, since they both have different, excellent attributes. If you want something silky and smooth that you can style yoursef, do a search for K'ryssma wigs and pay attention to the reviews! I got this one: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XJ3BGJC/, and it was gorgeous. Needed some work on the hairline (I plucked out some of the hair from the lace so the hairline looked more natural). K'ryssma wigs are machine made and come in a wide range of styles. The one I got had a LOT of hair, which was great! I was looking for a base wig to stack on and style myself, so the straight/slightly wavy style was perfect for me.

Many of the wigs for black women's hair have phenomenal texture (like straightened kinky hair) which gives them great body and fullness. Not as much movement, but not everyone needs that! The one I got for myself was the NEESHA wig (tons of YouTube reviews! this one is very popular) at this link:https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01B3GZTBO/. Haven't tried to stye it yet, and the lace is quite stiff/hard but this wig has a TON of hair.

BEFORE YOU BUY A WIG decide if you are going to try to style it yourself or if you need one that's mostly good right out of the box. That way you can avoid ending up with a wig you can't use without buying a ton of other styling products. Check out onlinekyne on YouTube--he has a ton of styling and baby queen tutorials, and isn't so experienced that his stuff is intimidating to watch. I also watch Mr. Villberg's wig transformation tutorials for ideas.

That's all I have time for now, but I will try to get back to you later today with more info! Best of luck, and let me know if you have any other questions!

They are actually really soft af makeup brushes. Often called oval or paddle brushes. Here’s a set on amazon just so you know what the full brush looks like. They come much bigger than the one in the picture. :) They’re usually incredibly soft, I love them lol.

Thank you! :D Here is my bright birthday look!
If I win first place, I would love this brush because I think nicer brushes could really help my eyeshadow game, so I've been wanting to slowly replace my old ones. :)
If I were to win second place, I think these would be fabulous because I always carry my lipstick of the day around in my pocket, and it would be great to have a case with a mirror with me!

Hey!
I know going straight in with surgery might be a big leap, especially if you're not sure about it.

I think a great less permanent 'fix' or 'trial' (which eventually becomes permanent I believe?) Would be double eyelid stickers.

https://www.amazon.com/D-UP-Wonder-Eyelid-Extra-UPD/dp/B000V2F6BU

You use a small tool to stick the sticker in the crease of your eye and it holds your lid up giving you the double eyelid look. In your case, it may lessen your eye irritation and let you decide whether or not you like the look on yourself.

Honestly it's really up to you if you want surgery. I'd at least give these a shot first. There is probably a bit of a learning curve (I've never used them myself) as with any tool, but if you can get it, keep using them :)

u/irlhyunion · 1 pointr/KoreanBeauty

I believe some companies will sell just the case with an plain sponge so that you can put your own bb or cc cream into it.

something like this?

But I'm not sure that it will fit your missha cushion though. But it could be worth a try?

u/dizzyvonblue · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Hey, I hope you cheer up. It sucks being sad. I will come through the computer and tickle you.

I'm trying to collect all these brushes Real technique brush

u/darksugarrose · 1 pointr/Indiemakeupandmore

I stalked your profile because I'm a creep to see your work with darker shadows. I think the blending is all you need to rock those. Also a lot of tutorials I've followed suggest layering with lighter colors and making a gradient with multiple shadows. They don't exactly have to match the primary dark color, it can be matte taupes and nudes.

I don't know what your brush kit is like but I do recommend these two brushes (E25) (E35) from Sigma. They're excellent for blending, and the E25 is considered a MAC 217 dupe, I don't know first hand since I don't own a 217 but I like the E25 a lot.

No problem!

u/valentineviscera · 1 pointr/MakeupEducation

I haven’t read any reviews on the KVD lash liner and personally I don’t know anyone who uses it so I can’t say whether it’s good or not.
The products I like to use:
L’Oréal
maybelline
urban decay waterline
And brushes I prefer:
real techniques silicon liner brush This one helps me push gel into my lashes easier to fill in gaps.
sigma e10
sigma e06 for easier winged liner in my hooded eyes.
And for the “stamping” I use a flat japonesque brush that they apparently no longer make as it is about 10 years old BUT sigma makes quite similar that are on sale rn that are described as “tightline and waterline brushes.”
sigma e17
sigma e16

To REALLY get in between the lashes place your ring finger (don’t push too hard!!) on your eyelid right above the lashline of where you’ll be placing the product and lift up a little bit. Tilt your head back so that you’re looking downward to the mirror a little bit. That will keep you from blinking/tickling ish as well as spread the lashes so you can work the product into the gaps easier. It also helps keep that part of your eye from getting wet as it will pull it away from your eyeball a little bit. If you get teary, you can squint your lower eye a bit and it should force the tears out so you can keep going once you’ve let them fall from the corners. Do this all before the rest of your shadow. Allow yourself to blink if you must and you can dab off excess moisture on your upper waterline and lashline with a clean finger.

If you use pencil you can use a blow dryer on the tip for a few seconds (not too long! )to warm it up and make it glide easier and be more malleable.

Again, there are many techniques I’m sure that are easier that other people use, this is just what works for me❤️

Buy these! I have them and holy crap are they worth the money. You will have to get some glue (I suggest Duo non-permanent) but the lashes are easy to trim down to your length and if you mess one up you've got a whole bunch more!

I've used the full tapered set and the set that looks like it has points with a smokey eye. Love them!

u/PatitoIncognito · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

You need some brushes! Real Techniques is a great brand to start with. They have some nice kits for eyes or face and great single brushes like the expert face brush and blush brush. EcoTools is another inexpensive brand for good quality brushes. Have you tried a lipstick before? Try the brand NYX. I'm around your age and I honestly used to think lipstick was for older ladies (sorry!), but I'm digging it now. Like others have said, primer, concealer, and color tattoos would be good items to add to your collection as well. Update us on what you end up choosing and happy birthday!

I actually love one of the smaller brushes from this set for contouring my nose. Something about the shape/handle makes it so easy, and it's so soft and fluffy.

u/Moosetracks01 · 1 pointr/MakeupAddiction

I think they are actually pretty good. Got some short ones and medium ones, and some really thick ones that are thick as hell. They look really cool with heavier makeup.

I Heart Drugstore Makeup :)

  1. Revlon!
  2. Face: Revlon BB Cream, cheeks: Physicians Formula Mineral Glow Pearls, lips: Soft Matte Lip Cream (Like really. The best.)
  3. Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain. Thanks for the 10 minutes of lovely lip colour!
  4. Anything by NYC! Okay not so much the foundations. But really great lip and eye products for under $5 is awesome :)
  5. I don't know if they're just in Canada, but Outdoor Girl is a brand I see a lot in dollar stores here, and what I've tried has been really nice! Even their brush set is great. Good stuff, good value.
  6. Nail stickers! You could pay $8 for less than a week of nail polish, or $5 for an entire bottle... I mean, they can be cute and all but really.

  7. I don't have any high end products, so I don't really know! But I've tried some Dior face powder at a counter and thought that my Almay powder was much nicer :)
  8. New York Color Smooch Proof Lip Stain :( I wanted to believe.

  9. This NYX Cosmetics Eyebrow Kit!
  10. Definitely the Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler!! My eyelashes just won't give in to any old curler. Shu is my last hope for pretty lashes.

This was so hard! Thanks for the contest, I'm having fun looking through all the answers :)

One thing I would suggest is getting a brush with a large knot. I recently got this one and my wife likes it for her legs because it is so soft, holds a ton of lather and is very large so it covers a lot of area space fast.

as for a long handled razor I would highly recommend the merkur 180.

u/zagood · 1 pointr/wicked_edge

There are a few opinions on this I'm not going to share. But here are some that I will.

  • Switching to a safety razor will almost certainly result in a worse shave with your method. New carts have so many "idiot-proof" features that you're able to get away with shaving dry.
  • The cost of cartridges is probably worse for you than for most people. Without prep, you're not softening the hairs, resulting in the blades doing more work and dulling more quickly.
  • I can't guarantee it, but I would think that a synthetic brush and unscented shave soap would solve most of your problems, even if you stick with cartridges.

I think I found some good brushes but honestly clueless as to how to properly use them... They had awesome reviews and won't break the bank but I'm not sure I'll even use them all.

I'm looking to get new eyeshadow, foundation, mascara, and blush. My skin is acne prone and a bit oily. I have some scars I'm looking to cover up as well (so I'm assuming I'll have to get the green/purple coverup).

I use Missha BB cream (mixed with Tarte primer), Maybelline Fit Me concealer, Elf translucent powder, and Milani tea rose blush. false lashes never last very long because of the layers of glue from reusing and putting mascara on it or what not so don't feel the need to spend $$$ on high end falsies (unless they look like bomb like Shu Umera) . you can get a box of 70 at amazon! just make sure to clean off the glue if you want to reuse.
