Stitch a few of these together and BAM! you got yourself a mousepad the size of a small room

Bad deal. You can get the same thing (black, same size, anti-fraying stitched edges) for $11 regular price, and without an obnoxious logo:

Stains stand out on it but easy to clean with a brush and dish soap.

It was worth it to me to spend a few more dollars for an unbranded one.

There are quite a few options on Amazon (and more on eBay, where the styles and perhaps quality are even more varied). Three mats that have no text/logo on the front and Prime shipping include:

  • Vipamz - 36"x12"x0.12" - black stitching - $11.99

  • OPCC - 23.6"11.8"0.12" - red or blue stitching - $8.77

  • GGing 36"x18"x0.12"- Maroon pad with black stitching - $17.99 - I got this in purple for a friend who's quite happy with it.

If you want to go full-desk, there's one with two folding phone/tablet stands built-in. It measures 34" x 23"x0.13" for only $18.99 (non-Prime free shipping):
    Jelly Comb

I've seen some on eBay that go up to a meter / 40" across, though most ship from China, which can take significantly longer and there is probably no returning it if it's not to your liking.

.012-0.13" or 3mm seems to be the default thickness, though you can find heavy mouse pads that run 5-6mm thick. It doesn't change the surface, and flat on a desk, neither thickness should bunch-up on you.

Stitching around the edge prevents the cloth surface from peeling, which may or may not happen without it. It sometimes depends on how it's made, but whether your wrist rubs over the edge can also make a difference (stitching does make the edge thicker, though, so if that is the case, a stitched edge may be more annoying than the plain one).

They already have a Logitech mouse.
Get a nice IPS monitor and a mech keyboard, that'll give you the most enjoyment for your dollar:

Acer G227HQL 21.5-Inch HD IPS Monitor $99.99
https://www.amazon.com/Acer-G227HQL-Abi-21-5-Inch-Widescreen/dp/B00JB6HCHI/

It's IPS and 21.5" @ 1080P, which gives you a nice, high pixel density.

Logitech G610 Orion Brown Backlit Mechanical Gaming Keyboard $79.99
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CDYB8F6

It's Logitech, so it'll match your mouse, the Cherry MX Brown key switches will be a pleasure to type on and its just a white backlight instead of tacky RGB.

Then get a gaming mat for your keyboard and mouse:

Black Extended Gaming Mouse Mat / Pad - XXL Large $14.99
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B014OOWMHQ/

Its big and no branding, so it won't look tacky.

After that, maybe some nice desktop speakers:

M-Audio AV32 | 10-Watt Compact Studio Monitor Speakers $79.99
https://www.amazon.com/M-Audio-10-Watt-Compact-Monitor-Speakers/dp/B00X741TKG/

These will blow away your OontZ Angle.

u/mikeoc322 · 5 pointsr/macsetups

Give this a shot?

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B014OOWMHQ?th=1

The dimensions look the same, and the black + no visible branding will look great against your tabletop, imo

u/lowlymarine · 5 pointsr/buildapcsales

Everyone loves this thing, but I'm going to be contrary and say that mine did not hold up well at all. After less than 2 years it was very worn and noticeably thinner where my wrist tended to rest. I also found the size and shape annoying when I wanted my keyboard centered for extended typing. I ultimately ended up buying one of those truly giant mousepads that goes under the keyboard too (this one to be specific, though I got it on a sale for $11) and so far (I've had it about a year or so) it's both more convenient and holding up better.

u/t1m1d · 4 pointsr/GlobalOffensive

I have one of these and I love it. Plenty big enough for most players and it's very solid. It might be very similar to the XXL though, I'm not sure as I've never tried a Steelseries mousepad.

u/WindupBot · 4 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

You could try getting an extended mouse mat and putting the keyboard on that. that might stop it from resonating so much.

$20. Metal frame, interchangeable side panels. It uses the ADNS-3090 optical sensor, which is somewhat older than current high end optical sensors, but still miles better than laser. Here's a video from Logitech talking about Optical vs. Laser sensors.

http://www.amazon.com/Allsop-Mouse-Pad-Raindrop-Blue/dp/B000XUW8IY

with this mousepad for $10, you should be able to lower your sensitivity enough to take advantage of the extra space.

>Even lower than 800 DPI? I imagine turning quickly enough becomes an issue...I'm not doubting your reputability but play styles certainly vary.

DPI isn't how sensitivity is measured, nor does high dpi equate to more accurate tracking. (long video from a Logitech engineer explaining why is here) Most sensors have a native dpi that they perform the best at. Sensitivity is calculated as a function of mouse dpi combined with in-game sensitivity, and is measured in centimeters for a 360 turn. For example, my hipfire is ~28cm while my ADS is ~44cm. You can calculate this at www.mouse-sensitivity.com.

Turning isn't an issue as you get used to it. An overwhelming majority of high skill/competitive FPS players use low mouse sensitivity. Here's some over the shoulder footage of cypher, a pro Quake player. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mEwfFBaCEio

u/uncashregistered · 3 pointsr/LearnCSGO

You can start with a SteelSeries QcK+, or QcK Heavy, depending on if you want the pad to be thicker. Personally I don't like these because they're pretty rough and give me friction burns on my wrist, so if you're worried about that happening to you there's other options like Glorious XL, Razer Gigantus, Zowie G-SR, HyperX Fury S (this one is also rough for me but not as bad as QcK), and there's many more but that's a few off the top of my head. Some are a bit pricey though. If you really want some good info and help from more people, make a post on /r/mousereview saying what games you play and what kind of features, if any, you're looking for. They help me out with mouse related stuff all the time, and I'm also pretty active there too haha.

More than likely the QcK+ will be plenty for you as long as it isn't too rough for you. Seems to be an uncommon problem, but I have talked to other people with the issue. Just try to find a pad that's at least 40cm (400mm) or 16in or so wide, that's the most important thing. Some people swear by the Allsop Raindrop XL even though it's a bit on the small side for me. If you're around 900-1000 eDPI you should be fine with this one, I like it a lot, just wish it had a couple more inches in each dimension.

I have this mousepad (the CompLexity team version) coming in tomorrow if you want to wait and see if I recommend it.

Apologies for the wall of text, I'm kind of into this stuff, probably too much haha.

u/kaokao1215 · 3 pointsr/MouseReview

The QCK limited editions are very slick, and much faster than the regular QCK.

If you want a mousepad that is similar to the regular QCK, but is stitched, take a look at the Glorious Pads. https://www.amazon.com/Glorious-Heavy-Gaming-Mouse-Mat/dp/B00NOD04CY?th=1

I upgraded many months ago to a Logitech G403 (wired version): https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-910-004796-Prodigy-Gaming-Mouse/dp/B01KUAMCV4

Its got a "top of the line" (according to Logitech) sensor, up to 1000hz polling rate and customizable DPI up to some ridiculously high number. Other than the specs, the size and shape of the mouse is perfect for my large hands.

Basically the way i went about choosing a mouse was I looked at what the pros use and chose the one I liked the best. Seagull uses the Logitech G Pro. So i went with the G403. Its the same exact specs as the G Pro, just with a larger and non ambidextrous design.

Why did I decide to spend more money on an expensive mouse? Smooth tracking/aim and no pixel skipping. IMO the difference between a fancy top of the line mouse and a basic shit tier mouse is night and day.

I also recommend buying a super big mousepad to go with a new mouse. I use 1600 dpi and 2.77 in game sens. My aim is super silky smooth and precise. Here's a link to my 18 x 16 inch mousepad that i love: https://www.amazon.com/Glorious-Extended-Gaming-Mouse-Mat/dp/B00NOD04CY?th=1

As for keyboard i have an older Razer Black Widow Ultimate that I've used for many years. So i recommend a solid mechanical keyboard. However if you had to choose between upgrading your mouse or your keyboard, I think your mouse is a way more important upgrade since thats what you use to aim.

I wanted to say thanks to you all here at /r/mechanicalkeyboards. I have been lurking and looking at posts for a while, since I realized mechanical keyboards were a thing. I know I didn't build the board from scratch, but this was a joy for me to get and play with. I work in IT and typing on this is a joy.

Hey OP - I do the same shit lol.

Anyways, get one of these and stick it under your board:

Also if you can find a desk that is either glass or something solid (not hollow particle board/Ikea, basically) it will really cut back the sound. It could be reverberating/amplifying through the desk into the floor.

Here is the monitor I recommend:

https://www.microcenter.com/product/508128/ha230-23-full-hd-75hz-vga-hdmi-freesync-led-monitor

Here is the mousepad I recommend:

https://www.amazon.com/VicTsing-Extended-31-5×15-75×0-12-Computer-Water-Resistant/dp/B0794WBPHK/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1542777401&sr=8-3&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=gaming+mousepad

So this should all be plenty for his intentions.

AMD’s Ryzen lineup has more cores than intel and tends to be a much better “bang for the buck”

8GB of high speed ram

Instead of a GTX 1060 or 1070, I went with an RX580 to save money. It has very equivalent performance as the 1060, and even better in some areas.

I added a WiFi card to allow for wireless connectivity, which isn’t necessary if you plan to wire your connection.

A nice CherryMX Switch keyboard.

A 2TB Hard Drive for games and a 240GB SSD for Windows. (Allows for faster boot times and a smoother experience overall.)

A good looking case that has a glass side panel on one end.

And a 75hz monitor that is a steal at the moment. I actually have one of these myself and it is amazing for its price, I’m very satisfied. Only downside is it doesn’t ship with an HDMI cable, only VGA so make sure you have a spare.

And of course a large mousepad, not necessary but helps.

If your son plans on using a mic, he needs a USB splitter which is super cheap and you can get off of Amazon for ~$10.

https://www.amazon.com/UGREEN-External-Headphone-Microphone-Desktops/dp/B01N905VOY/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1542777817&sr=8-3&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=3.5mm+usb+splitter&dpPl=1&dpID=41zp99SXYrL&ref=plSrch

This build should get the job done for your son;)
I know it’s a little out of budget, but the extra money is worth it.

Edit: I also recommend purchasing another case fan for $5-10 as this only comes with 1 preinstalled.

Just this cheap one I found on Amazon

https://www.amazon.com/Large-RGB-Gaming-Mouse-Pad/dp/B07P7QM8ZM

I'm not entirely sure how well it'll fit, (I measured out the space and technically it will) but the only reason I wanted a bigger mousepad was to see if I can center the keyboard more.

Plus I don't think Corsair makes a larger RGB mousepad then the one I currently have.

900x40mm (35.5" x 15.5") is the largest standard OEM size, and you can get them on Aliexpress for under $15 with custom printing. 900x450mm can also be had relatively cheaply on Amazon. Realistically they're all very similar; I'd just go with whatever's cheaper or looks nicer.

u/MrPhi · 2 pointsr/Overwatch

Hey, diamond Widowmaker with around 270h there! There seem to be some confusion, let me enlighten you as much as I can on the topic.

The sensitivity of your mouse is expressed in dpi (Dots per Inch).
The Windows settings do not matter, Overwatch uses the mouse raw inputs.

Overwatch has then four sensitivity settings when it comes to Widowmaker:

  • Global sensitivity
  • Horizontal sensitivity
  • Vertical sensitivity
  • Scope sensitivity

A sensitivity of 400 dpi and 16 Global sensitivity is exactly the same as a sensitivity of 800 dpi and 8 Global sensitivity. The Global sensitivity is a simple factor.

I personally changed the horizontal and vertical sensitivity to perfectly match the distance per pixel ratio. My screen is a 16/9 screen, my horizontal/vertical sensitivity are 32/18.

Scope sensitivity is a factor applied to the Global sensitivity. 100% means 1xGlobal sensitivity, 30% means 0.3xGlobal sensitivity.

All pro gamers play with extremely low sensitivity. The most popular seem to be 800dpi and 8 Global sensitivity.

When I started playing Overwatch I had not play a FPS for a long time, so I copied the settings of Kephrii, #1 Widowmaker on Overbuff.com: 400dpi, 8 sens, 35 scope sens. I got use to it and now stick with it. However it required me to buy a bigger mousepad.

The mouse you are using is not a gaming mouse, I highly encourage you to look for a gaming mouse (mouse with better sensor, cable and settable dpi).

Def recommend getting a larger mousepad. Maybe one like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B014OOWMHQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_Au6-AbC5FABAT.

You should also utilize the space on that desk a little better by moving your case further right. It’ll give you room to mount, or at least stand those speakers up correctly. Also a headset stand would go a long way.

Another thing that could help improve your setup is cleaning up those cables strewn across your desk. You can do this easily by using something like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XZPYP7Y/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_bA6-AbVKJMBSB

Sorry for the long comment my dude. I’d give your setup a 5/10 but that number won’t be hard to increase with some minor adjustments.

u/Emerald_Flame · 2 pointsr/buildapc

I bought this a while ago and have been happy with the quality. Main reason I picked it up is because all the name brands put really gaudy logos or designs over their mouse pads and I wanted just a plain black one.

You can get well sewn and quality mousepads or whole deskmats for pretty cheap nowadays if you don't buy into the whole gamerwear and branded stuff or have a very specific preference towards a certain amount of traction and very specific roughness of the weave.
Generic pads/mats usually cost like a third of the branded ones and are about just as good as far as tracking, traction and precision is concerned. Just be sure to find one where the logo isn't obnoxiously big as those tend to be just printed on and they will hinder or completely interrupt the tracking of sensors. It's something even almost all brands can't seem to get right, which is especially annoying when you use a smaller pad.

Example, this is the kind of deskmat you'll usually find for 9-15 bucks in one variety or another with a usual thickness of 3-4mm and usually going from 60x40cm to 90-40cm, it's really hard to go wrong with these. Mousepad variants are obviously a bit cheaper if you lack the space for a mat.

u/Fai9al023 · 2 pointsr/headphones

Same here! In FPS games in general setting a lower DPI is better. The one I'm using is the Razer Goliathus Extended which is pretty nice, but I feel like it's a bit too narrow. My previous mousepad, which is the HyperX Extended is better in terms of width, but the sides of the mousepad hurt my wrists a bit.

u/kiwiandapple · 2 pointsr/buildapcforme

Maybe a bit late, but I will explain most of my choices, in a reply to this post since I went over the 10000 character limit reddit provides per post.
If you have any questions. Don't hesitate to ask I'll be around the whole day.

I actually took the time to look at what is available at your MicroCenter. I went with most products that were either the same or cheaper.

Mouse sens is all around how much real-estate you have. Overall the rule for PC shooters is the lower sens you can get away with, the better off you'll be.

Ideally you want your middle poa (point of aim) to your left and right edges of your real estate to reflect a 180 in each direction.

Call of duty being a bit of a faster title you may have to over rotate some times so maybe give yourself a little more of a buffer zone. That being said though this is a basic idea ive applied to every shooter for the last 10 years and it's worked great.

My mousepad - as a PC gamer. I'm not sure as a console user what sort of space you have to work with so use your judgement when figuring all that out. Good luck OP!

u/BrewingHeavyWeather · 1 pointr/buildapc

That's what I have right now (because my cat had recently kneaded too much on my previous one, and I was at Best Buy). I've also used an Allsop XL, and some Xtrac and Razers, over the years. As long as it is woven cloth on top, thick enough to be comfortable for the part of my arm resting on the table, and is big enough to never accidentally reach the edge of, I'm good. The thick Allsop XL was definitely my favorite, though, being made of thick rubber, and I may buy another to have around, for future cat issues (I'd get 5-10 years from them each, if they weren't cat-friendly :)).

At the very least that's a starting point. You can probably go cheaper but I haven't used anything cheaper recently.

u/jayrocs · 1 pointr/CruciblePlaybook

Just food for thought here. Why don't you stick to controller until you get a bigger mouse pad? Mouse pads are not that expensive anyway.

This is the same size Shroud uses for instance: https://www.amazon.com/Glorious-Gaming-Mouse-Mat-Pad/dp/B00NOD04CY/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1543602777&sr=8-3&keywords=glorious+xl+mouse+pad

Your sensitivity is so incredibly high I couldn't imagine controlling that thing. My sensitivity I use which is quite popular (same as Gigz and Kraftyy) is 800 DPI @ 5 sens but I use a .7 ADS modifier.
My eDPI for look sensitivity is 4000 while yours is 36000. 9 times faster than my sens and I don't even consider my sens slow. I know people who use 800 DPI 3-4 sens.

Btw picking up your mouse is just something you have to do anyway, in all games. Watch this vid of a former CSGO pro explaining arm vs wrist aiming and having to pick up your mouse. Notice his large mouse pad but still requiring having to pick up your mouse over and over again. It is a skill in itself knowing when to reset your hand as you turn so that you don't fall off/hit your keyboard whatever: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PLvBQx1g1qA

The subs are two of these.

Thanks for the link. I think I'm going to go with this bad boy.

u/Coppertop42 · 1 pointr/CruciblePlaybook

This. My mouse and keyboard both rest on this pad with nearly half the space available for the mouse. Plenty of room to maneuver comfortably.

u/Waraurochs · 1 pointr/Competitiveoverwatch

I had this issue. I ordered one of the long pads for keyboard and mouse and put it under my arm because I have an L shaped desk. Helped a lot

u/The_dude_that_does · 1 pointr/battlestations

There are mousepads that are designed for your keyboard and mouse so that both go on top. Then for wrist rests you can buy those seperate like from grifiti

u/oizo12 · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

they still sell them on Amazon if you're interested, I bought another one to replace my old one I like it that much :)

In terms of Overwatch design it's pretty tame. I'm recommending it because; the size ensures a comfortable surface that will not move around like smaller mousepads often do, and because I like the quality of razor mousepads. I'm not too big on their mice but I've always had good results with quality razor mousepads.

u/noroadsleft · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

Not directly a keyboard question, but I need suggestions on a USB hub and a desk mat.

I'd like at least a four-port hub that could support my keyboard (which is backlit, if that matters) and mouse, and maybe couple flash drives or two. Six ports minimum would probably be perfect but I think I could deal with four.

For the desk mat, I need something 36"×12" or smaller (keyboard tray on my desk is this size). I'd like something that can double as a mouse pad, if that makes a difference. Something like this without the phone kickstands (can't use 'em anyway) and smaller. I'd prefer plain black, but I can deal with patterned if I like the pattern.

u/zakabog · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Here's a really big mouse pad, except it's only 400mm high, and here's an even bigger one that's almost 600mm high, but why do you want the vertical height to be over half a meter?

u/Sharkeybtm · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Well desk mats have a nice look to them. Here is a basic one, but you can get customized or nicer ones if you want to spend some extra money.

Now you could go with a 2060 Super instead of a 1660 Ti, but it's a fair bit more, and the 1660 Ti should be enough for what you want to use it for.

To answer your question, i would recommend getting THIS (go for red switches)

For mouse, go for THIS

For mousepad, go for THIS (choose a pattern) (it will cost you 1200/-, including import duty and customs)

The bigger the better. It isn't strictly necessary with a laser mouse, but it helps to demonstrate the optimal configuration.

Also, the 2 feet part isn't strictly necessary for MWO, since it limits pitch so much already, but it helps tremendously for other games that require more vertical movement.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0794WBPHK/ (yes, I know this item isn't quite 2'x3', I may have been exaggerating slightly.)

u/aLedade · 1 pointr/FortniteCompetitive

Sure thing. I would look into getting a cheap larger mouse pad if you’re committed. This one is 12 bucks on amazonVicTsing Extended Gaming Mouse... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0794WBPHK?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf is the first one I got and it works great. I ended up getting the enormous one from glorious for my whole desk but tbh it’s completely overkill.

Employing your whole arm will make it much easier to make those minute flicks. Instead of trying to only move your mouse half centimeter you have 3 or more to work with.

I have this Victsing at home and its soft and comfy

Victsing

However, I use a Logitech G440 Hard Surface Pad at work and it's like a miracle. With my Logitech G602 mouse, it honestly feels comparable to sliding around an Air Hockey Puck.

As always your milage may vary!

u/Major-league-k9 · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

When I say expensive I am referring to the purpose of the item for the price. You’re correct, 34 isn’t a lot of money but when I can get an extended pad off of amazon for 14 just not all fancy that’s what I’m referring to.

Don’t get me wrong they are nice looking mouse pads but I’m just the no frills type of person, aka boring I suppose. Lmao

Edit: link to my example.

Any chance you could sell long-sleeved shirts and gaming mats?

I'm not a fan of T-shirts or hoodies.

u/FadezGaming · 1 pointr/FPSAimTrainer

My front mouse feet are a bit "worn" as you can see here.

This is my pad then, I know it's not the best, but my old pad was to small and I needed something bigger but didn't want to spend alot but I still had the sluggish feeling on my old pad which was a QCK large.

I'll go do that scenario and then edit this with my scores.

Game 2 - 25.4

It's got a wire but seeing as I just went wireless with my mouse and keyboard I'm cool with it. The mousepad also includes a USB port on the side near the logo which is helpful. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07P7QM8ZM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_gppqDb0PHBXDQ

u/TheRealRealOne · 0 pointsr/buildapcsales

My mistake. The one I got had "XXL" in the amazon title, so I assumed it was the same model http://www.amazon.com/Glorious-Extended-White-Gaming-Mouse/dp/B00NOCZB78/ 36"x11"x0.12. Wasn't aware that "XXL" was a completely different size.

18"x36" would be a huge improvement over the 11"x36" model because I would constantly hit the edges when gaming on that pad.

These pads seem to be made at the same factory with different logos slapped on them. Browse around and get the size/color you want from a lower priced brand. http://www.amazon.com/Black-XXL-Extended-Gaming-Mouse/dp/B014OOW70S/

  • Zowie - EC2, EC1, or Mico if on budget or small hands.

  • Razor Deathadder 4.0, maybe the Naga if you need many buttons

  • Logitech G400s

I used a G400 / G400s for years and years and was highly successful in competitive CS, Tribes, etc (went a full year undefeated in 1v1 Tribes duels). I am currently using a Zowie EC1 and love it.

That being said, unless you are tryhard comp / pro player, a corsair mouse is fine for the most part. Mouse pads have a far greater effect on mouse feel / performance once you have any 'gaming' mouse.

The Allsop Raindropper XL is an extremely good mousepad, and it's 10 bucks w/ amazon prime. I use my Allsop League of Legends / non-FPSs.

That being said, if you truly want to spoil your fingers, I'd recommend an Artisan pad. I have an Hien and Zero, and I absolutely love them. Their build quality, feel, texture, etc, are a step above the rest - it's like going from a Quickfire mech to a HHKB. Here is a good review guide. Artisans come in many different textures and densities / squishyness (softer the pad, the more apparent friction they have). They're a bit pricey, especially with shipping (check amazon - some are shipped from the States) from japan, but it's 100% worth it.
