Oh man, always weird to see my arms. It's a Pebble Time, black. With a 3rd party lightweight sport rubber strap (my favourite): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004HZBOWM/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_V-Abvb0PWWY38

This is the casio a158w, bought it in Canada for about $25 monopoly dollars. I originally bought it because it's the same model my dad had for many years. I decided to take it with me on my first solo trip abroad. It originally came with a metal strap which I replaced with the leather one you see in the picture. Personally I find that the leather strap adds a nice retro feel to the watch. As a travel watch it does everything

  • Cheap so I'm not upset if it's lost or broken

  • Back lit and easy to read

  • 12/24 hr modes are great for looking up travel times

  • I found it easy to pair it with a lot of different outfits

Only complaint would be the illumination light is kinda weak, but it did the job.

Edit: the strap I used 18 MM leather strap it was very tight to put on, maybe try the 16 mm version?
u/gothic_potato · 14 pointsr/Watches

This is supposed to be an excellent leather strap, and you can class it up even more by adding a push button clasp for a couple more bucks. This is a good idea of what the combination would look like on a Seiko 5, although the face is a different color.

All credit to /u/sircarbonmojo for showing me this combination, and for the lovely photos.

First time posting here! I consider myself a watch enthusiast with a small but meaningful collection. I was talking to a friend on vacation and he showed me a watch he built. I got inspired and did some research to get ideas.

I found this post on reddit and felt like I had to try it myself.

After watching this video, I went to ebay, Amazon, and Esslinger to get started.

I'd also highly recommend some gloves and patience! You definitely need to be careful with the hands as they are delicate and you really need to push straight down to get them on there.

I'm still not sure if I like the crown, but I'm pretty happy overall!

I hope this inspires others to give it a try.

u/mR-wizard · 11 pointsr/Watches

I recently got into watch modding, since my SKX was the perfect place to start. I went through a few different dials and hands but ended up loving this combination. The rectangle hour indices with straight 62mas hands are just what I want…for now. Below are the parts I swapped in:

  1. Upgraded to the NH36 movement (https://www.amazon.com/SEIKO-NH36A-AUTOMATIC-MOVEMENT-WHITE/dp/B07D792MH9)
  2. Engraved “S” crown (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07QLJ44V5/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1)
  3. Found the SRP495 Stargate dial on watchpartsplaza.com (https://www.watchpartsplaza.com/us/srp495k1-black-dial-seiko.html)
  4. Swapped in a fixed smooth steel bezel (https://one-second-closer.com/shop/the-absolute-simple-one-pure-cnc-custom-bezel-for-seiko-skx00709-dx-09-cnc/)
  5. Installed a slightly double domed, blue AR coated, sapphire crystal. This completely removed the gap between the crystal and bezel. (https://crystaltimes.net/shop/all/modern-divers/ct099/)
  6. Got the hour and minute hands from an eBay seller (https://www.ebay.com/itm/62-MAS-Style-Hands-for-Seiko-Silver-luminous-Mod-Parts-Custom/303239242503?hash=item469a77a307:g:Rr0AAOSwWUtbYxgb), the second hand is from yobokies 62mas set
  7. Relumed the hour and minute with green Noctilumina (their lume is on par with Superluminova C3 and Seiko’s Lumibrite) (http://www.noctilumina.com/)
  8. The strap is a Miltat Super Oyster (https://www.amazon.com/Super-Oyster-watch-SKX007-Curved/dp/B00C58S82W?ref_=w_bl_sl_ap_wa_web_10058180011)
  9. I also fixed the damn chapter ring alignment issue with some Rodico

Here are some lume shots: https://imgur.com/a/m9FXTMe

The camera really picks up the subtle color difference between the Lumibrite, Superluminova C3, and Noctilumina, but this is barely distinguishable to the eye.
u/ElMangosto · 10 pointsr/frugalmalefashion

Hey! A dressier strap usually means color all the way around, a thinner leather, and a more pronounced taper from lug-to-end. I can do 1/3! Dyeing the edges black is no problem. Thinner leather and a super-contoured shape I can't really do with Chromexcel.

I think the common recommendation for dress straps is Hadley-Roma, but keep in mind that's "genuine leather" so it's probably a frankenstein of leather and plastic.

u/waterhoused · 8 pointsr/malefashionadvice

Spurred on by this thread on r/FMF a few days ago, I purchased the Seiko 5 in blue off of Amazon. The blue, green, and cream models were on sale for $50, and using the 20% off newsletter promotion it came out to $40.

Special thanks to /u/JoCoLaRedux for pointing me to this Hadley-Roma brown leather watch strap. It appears he’s wearing it with the cream face, which also looks great.

u/ImTheDoctah · 8 pointsr/Watches

There are so many great options under $500! As you noted, Swiss Made is pretty much out of the question at this price point, but that's okay. The brands that you are mainly going to be looking at here are the Japanese brands: Seiko and Orient. Here are my favorites from cheapest to most expensive, including links to where you can buy them.

  1. In my opinion, the absolute best automatic watch to start out with -- especially if you're not sure if you'll be collecting watches long term -- is a Seiko 5 ($55). With its solid automatic movement and exhibition caseback, it's an incredible value for the price. Swap in a brown leather strap and you have a very attractive watch for under $80 total.

  2. Of course you already know that the Orient Bambino V2 is another great option -- very similar to the Seiko 5 but a bit less casual and more high end in appearance. Retail on this one is $300, but it can usually be had for below $200. Long Island Watch had it on sale for $117 very recently but unfortunately it is now sold out.

  3. If you want a tool watch, something a little bit more rugged, definitely go for an Orient Ray II ($185) or a Seiko SKX007 ($199 - bracelet version linked but also available on a black rubber strap). I personally own both of those watches and they are both awesome.

Hope this helped. I would also recommend checking out some watch reviews on Worn and Wound. They specialize in affordable mechanical watches so there are plenty of pieces on there under $500. I could have mentioned some but there are too many good ones to name really. Take a look, maybe something might catch your eye!
u/yamiawakeat4am · 8 pointsr/Watches

That’s a cheap bracelet I bought on Amazon a while ago, it’s surprisingly really good quality for the price!

u/Donk24 · 7 pointsr/moto360

Bought the strap here

Had a jeweler install it. Took him 10 minutes. Charged me $4 (though I gave him $10 for the great job/fast turn-around)

I'm posting top-level so as not to get drawn into the ongoing debate.

Truly formal dress calls for no watch at all.

If you're wearing a watch, it isn't important whether the band is leather or metal. It matters far more the gestalt of proportions, design, etc.

Yeah, a leather band will generally look a little more formal than a metal band, but it depends on the leather and it depends on the metal. Which of these is more formal? IMO, it's a wash. Of course, this is a casual watch, but the comparison demonstrates things aren't always so simple.

I'm all for obsessing over minutiae, but the important thing is this: nobody will care whether your band is leather or metal. Nobody will care. Unless one looks substantially better than the other on your wrist and with your clothing. In which case, choose based on that, not based on perceived formality. Wear what looks better and what functions better.

Mostly, people associate metal bands with bracelets on clunky dive watches and the like; whereas, they associate leather with slim dress watches. If you wear metal with a suit, people will just assume you're being intentionally subversive — albeit, in a very minor way.

As far as pros go:

With metal you only need one band for all your shoes and belts, but with leather, you might want two or three.

Good leather will wear nicely with age, but metal will stay looking mostly the same.

u/[deleted] · 6 pointsr/Watches

> Holy smokes that's a really nice bracelet, but costs more than the watch itself!

Yeah, it is a bit costly, but I've seen and handled it in person and all I can say about it is that OMEGA is still decades away from making its equal (they make awesome watches, but their bracelets...).

On the other hand, I have not purchased it yet (you know what? Hold on...)

It just occurred to me how ridiculous it is that I hadn't yet purchased it, as I have no fewer than 7 watches that it will fit and look great on. I just remedied that oversight (and you were here!). I copped it from amazon for 21 bucks less than it costs from Strapcodes own website.

See what you've done? You made me spend money!

Yeah, I am blaming you.

u/charitytowin · 6 pointsr/Watches

Thanks! It's a very comfy, and super cheap, strap I got off Amazon from a recommendation on this sub. It looks great on my Khaki King too.

I'm going to order the tan one this week as well.

I got this band for work, I am a personal trainer and I needed something light and possible water resistant. It is a polyurethane band (has a rubber / hard plastic feel to it) You can find it on Amazon here for about $35

u/Goofball666 · 4 pointsr/pebble

Link to the Amazon page for that band: http://amzn.com/B004HZBOWM

I have one and it's been on my pebble since the end of March. No complaints about it other than the clasp is scratched from resting on the desk when I type. Adjustment was a bit of a PITA due to it being screw together link pins and not push-fit but that that's a once a blue moon kind of problem.

This is the tool I used to take the straps off

This is the strap I used

I actually had to cut the clasp side of the strap a little bit. The official ones have a small notch cut out of the end. The hole side fit in just fine without having a notch cut, but the clasp end wouldn't go in until I duplicated the notch on the new strap.

heh...morning dump...i'm 12.

That pen is beautiful.....

Speaking of the watch band. Yea those do pull the hair. I found a polyurethane band that worked perfect for me to get away from the metal bands and still include links. Of course it's black, but it's super comfortable. Have to take care to check the occasional link barrel screw, one or two might loosen a little over time. I added a little blue loctite to fix that issue :D

I have a black Pebble, but I was never a fan of the gloss finish - I felt it made it look cheap. I therefore decided to make it matt which in my opinion makes it look much better. I combined the Gadget Wraps black matt screen protector with a Luminox black silicon strap. The blacks are not a 100% match but the difference is so small that I don't even notice.

Matt Black Wrap: http://www.gadgetwraps.com/devices/pebble-watch/matte-black-pebble-watch-wrap.html

Luminox Strap: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004HZBOWM/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B004HZBOWM&linkCode=as2&tag=withnaiulti0b-20

I really like the end result. It's very understated. In fact most people don't even notice the watch, which I like.

u/Kazyole · 3 pointsr/Watches

It's a cheapy mesh bracelet from Hadley Roma. Super comfortable once you've sized it, and gives the watch a bit of that JB Champion look without the crazy price tag.

u/hitchstriker · 3 pointsr/frugalmalefashion

It's this.

u/-CharlesHardinHolley · 3 pointsr/Watches

Oh my God, is this embarrassing. You said "band," and I was like..."What band? Beatles? Stones? Marilyn Manson?"

I thought that you'd made an obscure joke that I didn't catch.

Basically, if it's metal (not the music, do you understand the rabbit-hole we're tumbling down?) and it's on a wristwatch, I call it a bracelet.

The mesh bracelet on that Weekender is this one. It is beautiful, bullet-proof and so, so comfortable.

Welp, I am gonna go now and drink many beers. After all, how much dumber can I possibly get?

u/sotopop · 3 pointsr/Watches

I got this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005EJFWFA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Pulls out a hair or two every time I use it but I am definitely satisfied. Also very easy to make adjustments, takes 10 seconds and no tools necessary (obviously once the bracelet is attached to the case)

u/Seeker80 · 3 pointsr/WatchesCirclejerk

This is my Seiko Presage SRPB41J9, or as everyone calls it, "cocktail time." There are many like it, but this is my own. I got it for pretty cheap from Ebay, and it's definitely my favorite so far. This picture doesn't exactly do it justice, but it really does shine beautifully in the sunlight. I'm very slowly moving up from basic quartz Timex and Casios and onto finer pieces.

In attempts to keep things interesting so that I don't grow bored of a watch and think about blowing money on a new one, I've been getting different straps instead. I've found that mixing up straps keeps things from getting stale and makes it much easier to match with different clothing. The original bracelet is above the watch. The others are both cheap alternatives from Amazon. Here is the link for the steel Milanese strap and here is the link for the leather strap.

On amazon.

It's a great band for the money.

u/tictoctictoctictoc · 2 pointsr/Watches

The first two straps are from Amazon. The last 4 came with watches. Here's the source of each:

  1. Hadley Roma 881

  2. Hadley Roma Cordura

  3. Timex Weekender Chrono

  4. Sinn 856 UTC

  5. Skagen Ancher

  6. This was bought at an antique shop in Asbury Park, NJ

I've also bought straps from cheapnatostraps and they've been pretty decent quality for the price.
u/acboenisch · 2 pointsr/Watches

The actual strap that comes on the Rodina is kinda junky but the design is pretty basic brown leather so there are lots of superior options available. I highly recommend Hadley-Roma for affordable high-quality straps. I've bought a few things from them and every one has been great and I think many other people will also testify to that.

I don't have links to AUS specific Amazon pages but you might consider something like this, this, or this. I personally have the last one along with one of their deployant clasps (18mm clasp for the 20mm straps!) and think it looks great.

u/Consolol · 2 pointsr/Watches

Hadley-Roma in honey or brown. I have the same strap in black and it's quite nice. I haven't tried any particularly nice straps though, so you can take my suggestion with a grain of salt.

I highly suggest a deployant clasp.

I am recently the proud new owner of a Seiko sarb035. This is my first higher end purchase into the world of watches and I have a few questions on how to go about changing the strap. The band width is listed at 19mm however I have read that a lot of 20mm straps will work on the watch. I would like to purchase this hadley-roma strap for the watch if a 20mm strap will work. Also, this strap doesn't come with any pins. Should I reuse the pins from the original strap or look to purchase an extra set? What size pins would I purchase 19mm or 20mm? Thank you for helping out a watch rookie!

I like diver watches, hehe. This band is a replacement for the Luminox 3000 series dive watches. It's 22mm in size so it doesn't fit our watches. Have no fear. Since this band is polyurethane, it can be easily modified. I used a x-acto to notch out 2mm on both sides. You can't even tell it's modded. :) You can get it [here] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004HZBOWM?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage) But it's currently out of stock. There's a 23mm band here. Good luck!

I got the idea from this thread: http://forums.watchuseek.com/f17/what-square-2638617-2.html

The ebay seller was long gone, but I contacted the OP and he helped me hunt down one down for me on Amazon, for which I am very grateful.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004HZBOWM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

This one is actually different than the one he has. I had to cut it to fit the 16mm lugs, and the outside diameter of the bracelet is slightly too short. The correct one was like $45 after shipping, and not prime. This one was $28 for Prime. I'm glad I did this one too, because it's barely a $28 bracelet. I like the bracelet itself, but the clasp is absolute shit. I may try and replace that in the future. There's a real composite bracelet made by Casio, but I just didn't like the way it looked.

The stock band for this watch is actually really good. It's soft (softer than the import model) and comfortable.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004HZBOWM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

By far the best one that I've had. It's highly adjustable to fit perfectly on any wrist, waterproof (water actually beads up instead of smearing all over the place), and has the look of a steel type link without the painful hair/skin pinching. Very lightweight. You just need to shave off a little bit off the end of the band for it to fit, which is a very fast and easy procedure.

u/kodek64 · 2 pointsr/pebble

Here is the strap that I'm using in the video:

Keep in mind that they have made it a bit thicker on the ends, and it will require some shaving off the sides with a sharp blade. It's not hard, and it's not too risky, but it IS a modification you have to make before it actually fits in the Pebble.

Cheaper on Amazon at the moment.

u/Soosed · 2 pointsr/Watches

It's very similar to Braun watches:

http://www.amazon.com/Braun-BN0032WHBKG-Classic-Analog-Display/dp/B004X4KVZI

There was another company making minimalist quartz watches, something like
"Industry Designs" or something like that, and they didn't look too bad. But they were selling $400 watches with quartz movements, which is kind of ridiculous.

u/huyexdee · 2 pointsr/Watches

I've had my first watch, the Seiko SNZH53, for a couple weeks now... I couldn't stand the bracelet that it came with. It was squeaky and the clasp wasn't perfectly flush with its slot, so it jangled around with a very cheap sound. It just didn't do justice to the amazing looks and quality of the timepiece itself, so I figured it was time for a change. I purchased a Bond-style NATO from BluShark, and I'm really liking the look of it now. It just feels more rugged and casual, and the most important thing about it is that I don't have the cheap sound that the bracelet had.

Since I'm 14, I have a huge amount of strap sticking out, and I intend to cut it and burn the fabric in the future. I especially like that with NATO straps, you can throw your arms around and not have to worry about a spring bar going AWOL. Other than that, there's not much to say about it. It just seems to me that the community thinks NATO straps are getting to be more of a circlejerk thing now, and I get it - there's an oversaturation of them. But, this is my first real strap other than my first bracelet, and I'm pretty happy with it.

u/ikpic1345 · 2 pointsr/BuyItForLife

I'm writing this from a phone so pardon any spelling please.

I have owned 3 citizen watches over the years. Two of the same model ( don't know exact but it has a chronometer date. One of the simple ones). One is a great navihawk AT. One had a rubber band that I hated. Hence why I have 2 of the same. The other a leather which did wear out.

To give you an idea of the environment, it's an analytical chemistry lab. So lots of metal things to run into (gas canisters and fume hoods to name 2). Also acids and corrosive materials that will do terrible things to your skin, not to mention a watch face.

Bottom line. The first two still work, eco drive all that. But you can tell the wear. They cost in the range of 250 to 300.

I don't know what the navihawk AT is made of but damn. 2 years and I've run it into gas cylinders, metal fume hoods, nitrogen was on it at some point. The ONLY thing is a small scratch across the face. That was when I was etching something and it slipped. It was a diamond tipped etcher..... No wear on the body either. It came with a rubber band but I replaced it with one of those "James bond" bands. They sell it with a metal one as well. I would suggest the band I have. Cheap and easy to replace. If you work with your hands (like I do) it's going to get damaged.

here's a wrist shot! i had to remove it honestly. it rattles way too much. But hopefully I'll be able to find a nicer bracelet and add these end links in if I have to. I think that shouldn't be too difficult to do. The leather strap I'm using is just a cheap quick release leather strap. I like it since it looks pretty good and you don't risk scratching the case. The leather really isn't that bad and is comfortable but I can't speak to its durability quite yet.

It sounds like your shop is ripping you off. A lot.

A decent watch, even if it's quartz, can easily last 3-5 years without any issues. A decent leather band should be able to last around half a decade to a decade if it's of decent quality.

Even the 15 dollar bands on Amazon are probably of a significantly better quality. Or, spend a bit extra and get something nice from Holbens and it'll probably last you a decade.

Hello MFAers,

If you're a Brit, you'll likely need to find the one from Amazon UK, which is slightly more expensive and has some engraving on the buckle, as the one from the US won't deliver here, last I checked!

Hi /r/Watches!

I've been on the hunt for six months now for the perfect band for this watch, and I think my search is finally over! This Orient Esteem was my first automatic. While I loved the dial and case, I never liked the super shiny leather band it came on. I switched it out for a black perlon, and while I liked that better, it was too dressed down for what I wanted it to be. After finally trying a stainless steel mesh strap, I felt like I found a fit! What do you guys think?

I'm open to honest feedback, so please let me know if any other band would look better! I want to wear this as a dress watch.

In case anyone is wondering, I purchased this Hadley Roma band. I would recommend it, I feel that it's well made for the price and I think it looks great.

u/pzumk · 1 pointr/moto360

Nice, looks much better than the Pebble Steel Band. I guess it's this one?

u/meatwad75892 · 1 pointr/moto360

First and foremost, the official Moto band. I have one and it's most certainly very hefty, and very well built. (Ignoring the weak plastic inserts that may snap apart easily) I love it, and couldn't recommend it enough. Even if those inserts that surround the pins do chip away in the corners, the first link of the official Moto band doesn't seem to put any pressure on the rounded edge of the watch's back, so it should still fare better at not having a crack issue versus the official leather bands & other 3rd party metal bands.

http://www.motorola.com/us/moto-360-bands/Moto-360-Metal-Bands/moto360-bands-metal.html

While I've no experience with this next one, I have seen a few people around here sing praises about it. It also appears to be well-reviewed on Amazon. I can't comment on what kind of force it exerts or doesn't on the rounded edge of the watch's back, but I haven't heard many complaints from those who have used the band.

PS - Are you asking about a Moto 360 that you already own? Or are you about to buy one? Because you can get the metal-band Moto 360 as a whole unit for $299, which basically shaves off $30 of the total cost versus buying a leather band watch & the metal band separately.

u/Vikaroo · 1 pointr/pebble

I thought people who have smaller wrists, but like big metal watch bands, might like to see how this particular band looks. I have TINY wrists, and I had to remove all but 1 removable link from this band. For reference, with the previous edition Pebble Steel I had the metal band from Pebble and I had to remove ALL of the removable links and it still fit loose. Please ignore my finger nails, I damaged them with some gel nail polish and they look a bit cracked in spots. This is the Super Engineer Type II band from Amazon, installation and link removal was a BREEZE - I just used a tiny flat head screwdriver for the whole thing and it took about 10 minutes total. Also, the screen has a bit of fingerprint on it and is more reflective than a standard PTS because I have a screen protector on.

Edit: Watchface is Weather Land

Edit 2: Accidentally "published" this to Imgur as well, subsequently removed it due to mass amounts of hate. To answer all that anger - Yes, this watch looks huge on me and I love it. No, I'm not trying to "show off" my ring, a lot of women have rings and I feel it is important to show what the watch looks like with my usual jewelry.

I'm slowly building my collection, so after posting a question and seeing a few recommendations, I bought a couple fairly cheap NATO bands to as a way to change the look of my two watches as Well as save the bracelets from too much wear and tear.

I bought these bands with minimal research into quality as a way to feel a NATO strap on my wrist and to see what I would get going cheap

STRAP 1: Infantry Nato Zulu 22 mm nylon band (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B23NIOY/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_huSKxbJPNHJSG)

I bought this band first hoping to use it on my citizen eco drive, as the bracelet by now had received considerable scratching while being worn day to day. I thought that the black on black would look good and simple. Now wearing it I think all future bands I get for it will have chrome or stainless loops.

The band is very comfortable on my wrist and and I do like the feel of it at work (IT Director for a large automotive Dealership group) the band did not bother my as I sweat a lot in my job, especially this time of year.

What is bothering is that the band is cheap, very cheap, yes the band is only $10 but that's on sale, and at its normal price of $14 I would pass on this as the nylon is avlready fraying on the band. Further, and most upsetting, I am still unsure of what the loops and buckle are made of, you would assume it's metal, and I hope it is, but it's so light, cheap and flimsy I can bend the loops with my hand, further it doesn't have any hint of a metal feel to it, the paint is thick, but peels easily (I rubbed my nail on it because I was honestly unsure if it was metal).

STRAP 2: StrapsCo 20 mm Faded Leather strap (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016NOTNQI/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_wOSKxb2M1XYXH)

I ordered this strap because I wanted a strap for my Hamilton and my 22 mm did not fit (learn to measure kids) I just got this strap and love the look of it on the Hamilton and It also assures me that the stainless loops and buckles will look great on the Citizen. For $15 the band doesn't look bad, though I would prefer better leather (more money will be spent!) You can't beat the price. However the treatment on the leather is thick and leaves a strong smell and the band is flaking a bit already.

All in all I like the look of the NATO style band and would recommend doing what I didnt here, more research in advance, I would love more recommendations of where to buy in the future! Also the money you spend is worth it here, I'm not a fan of how cheap these bands feel, but can I complain when they are just that.

u/Sorten · 1 pointr/pebble

I am seconding the NATO strap. I got this strap and as soon as I took it out of the package I thought I made a mistake. "It just feels like plastic!" I finally switched to it when I changed wrap colors and it is my favorite now.

Sure, it's a MilTAT sold by Strapcode through Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00C58S82W

I didn't really pick and choose too carefully, probably just got whatever was highly rated on Amazon. This is my first mechanical watch and first watch period in more than a decade. I knew I wanted the 007 on a bracelet, but Hodinkee (I think) said that the default bracelet it comes with if you get that variant is pretty mediocre, so I got the one with the rubber strap (which is somewhat less expensive) and then ordered the bracelet as an upgrade.

For my birthday in a few months I would like to get myself either a SARB065 for dress wear or a SARG (can't decide which model yet) for work/casual. I'm also lusting after a Hamilton Navy Pioneer but that will have to wait a while.

I bought it from Amazon along with the watch, looks like it isn't available currently: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CIIHIWK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I bought the strap for $30 which in hindsight is hefty compared to what I know now. It's held up somewhat well - I haven't maintained it at all, it's been in water a few times, and I've pulled and tugged on the leather a decent amount. The quality of the buckle is really good for sure, but the leather is very discolored. There's no actual damage though and the loops for the strap are still intact, which I appreciate.

All in all not bad but maybe not worth the price compared to paying $5-10 less for a Hadley-Roma, or even paying $10 more for one of the less expensive Hirsch straps.

Looking to pick up a new band (or strap? I don't know the terminology) for my watch. It's a Junkers 6966-4 G38. That picture is fairly accurate, but the face is not the creamy yellowish in the picture, it's more of a silvery white. Anyway right now it has a black leather band on it, but with the temperatures rising that has become quite hot. I'm thinking about picking up a NATO strap for it, should be less hot. I'm not quite sure what color or color(s) to pick, are there rules for how to match the colors on a band to a watch? I was thinking about using one of these black and grey straps. I was also toying with the idea of getting a dark blue strap for it like one of these. Thanks!

Up for sale, a Steinhart OCEAN One Vintage Military

Paid €320 EUR, plus ~29 EUR shipping, plus the import duties/tarrifs. Exchange rate, at time of purchase, was $390.79 USD, on January 09, 2016.

I'm including a NATO strap with purchase. Steinhart should have included one with the watch, but for some stupid reason, they didn't. You can choose between:

  • Crown & Buckle brand Khaki Premium NATO, 22mm - $15.00 USD value
  • Crown & Buckle brand Steel Grey Premium NATO, 22mm, brushed hardware finish - $15.00 USD value
  • SharkNATO brand Black and Gray Striped Nylon (James Bond), 22mm, polished finish - $15.50 USD value

You can select ONE of the above straps :)

    Condition of the watch:

  • NO scuffs AT ALL, on any part of the watch. Was only worn for about an hour or so.
  • NO scratches on the sapphire glass
  • ~~The stainless bracelet has NEVER been worn. ~~
  • Comes with all paperwork, including a copy of the original invoice.
  • Comes with original box (the black padded one, and the larger white outside box)
  • Will be shipped in the original plastic bubble wrap that it came in
  • As mentioned, it comes with a NATO strap, as a "bonus"

The reason that I'm getting rid of this watch is that I actually purchased this before I saw another diver watch that I now want more than the OVM. There's nothing wrong with the OVM, at all, and I like it a lot, it's just that there's another watch that I now want more. I know that I could return this watch to Steinhart, however I'm certain that I can flip the watch quicker than they can do the return process. Notice that I'm losing a bit of money on this deal and I've already taken care of the duties and tarrifs.

I'm asking $390.00 USD via Paypal, plus actual shipping costs. Send me a PM with your address and I would like to keep this sale to the United States. This is my first /r/WatchExchange sale, however I have several confirmed sales over at /r/mechmarket, which you can see here on the January Confirmed Trade Thread.

Edit: would possibly consider trades, but completely depend on what it is.. Shoot me a PM or reply below with what you've got :)

    Edit: Sold 1/25/2016

I picked up this one on Amazon last week. Can't speak to long-term, but it's comfortable and came with the tools to remove links and two pairs of replacement pins. $11

This is a watch my dad gave me a while ago, not expensive or anything but I like how it looks. It had brown leather straps but they ripped off unfortunately so now I'm looking at replacement straps. I like NATO straps but not the duller colors like tan and olive. What kind of straps would look best on this particular watch? I was looking at these but I'm not sure what color would work best.

I use this silicone band (22mm), very comfortable. I wipe it off with a baby wipe or makeup wipe every night to keep it from getting gross and causing a rash, especially if I've worn my watch at the gym.

I would think either stainless, or some rubber / silicone strap.

Since you mentioned a chunky bezel, I tend to think of the Citizen Promaster Diver. It is a brushed finish and comes on a polyurethane strap, and is usually around $150.

If you just want a beater watch that you can replace if you damage it, it is hard to top the Timex Weekender for $30, but you might want a silicone strap for it, so clean up isn't an issue with the nylon. The Barton silicone straps are under $15 and easy to remove if you need to clean the lugs.

You looked at Barton's straps? They're MEGA comfy. I have the S3 Classic, and the leather isn't stellar (for me), so I got a Barton 22mm strap, and so happy with it.

I use the 22mm size from Barton Watch Bands on Amazon.

u/OwThatHertz · 1 pointr/GalaxyGear

Watch bands are easy to make cheaply. This is good and bad. For example, pretty much all of the cheap Milanese style bands are crap: the weave frays (if it isn't frayed out of the box) and snag clothing and the magnets often get stuck on, well, any ferrous metals around. Bracelet style bands are often decent, however, as are leather and synthetic bands. Read the reviews carefully, particularly the 1, 2, and 3- star reviews for more objective reviews. I've found that 1 and 5 star reviews are the least likely to be objective whereas 2-4 stars tend to go into more detail and be less... emotionally-charged.

The S3 Frontier and Galaxy Watch use the same, standard watch band size of 22mm, and are roughly the same size and shape, so a band that works for one should work for the other. Note that bands don't have to specifically support smart watches, much less a Samsung watch specifically. Other than potentially the shape around the bezel (if applicable), the only thing that matters for compatibility is that it's 22mm. That said, Samsung watch bands have an easy-to-slide mechanism for installation and removal that many traditional watches do not, so it's handy when a band includes that.

There are many options for this. I bought this band when I bought the steel GW and it's worked out fine. Note that the band does not meet the bezel; it ends at the link point. At the time, bands that wrapped around the curve of the bezel were sold out, and for $17 with Prime shipping I didn't care that much. Since then, however, many new bands have come out and I'll probably order something like this sometime soon.

One last item of note: the tools that ship with any of these cheaper bands are utter crap. If you want to replace links and/or plan to use more than one band, it might be worthwhile to invest in a decent watch link tool. They're cheap but usually decent. Again, read the reviews to be sure.

I found this one in Amazon that I love. I have gotten more compliments with than one on than with the stainless steel one.

Although my watch is the regular stainless steel one, it looks amazing imo. Q Explorist leather band

u/Walhalla360 · 1 pointr/WearOS

could be this band, but OP has to confirm :D

Is this the black or smoke watch?

u/Roneth · 1 pointr/WearOS

Recently got this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071LFMWQ9?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf and it's ok. Most feedback I'm getting is the black looked better. Would love to get the original back... I broke mine.

u/damnthatstoasty · 1 pointr/Watches

I love mine, I wear it on this strap right now and it's great. Not sure about replacement bracelets for it, I've been looking too.

u/BioticAsariBabe · 1 pointr/Watches

Brand new to this hobby. I'm a broke college student, but this was a great buy for just 200. Hoping to save up for a Max Bill one of these days.

This watch has a lot of fun quirks. The Sun and Moon thing is mostly useless, but it's quite pretty. The day and date are very nifty though. Also, the watch has hacking seconds, which is neat. And the ticks are in quarters of seconds, so in low-light it looks like it's continuously turning. I'm brand new to automatics- not sure how I feel about having to adjust it by a couple minutes every few weeks, but it's okay. It's awesome to look at the "weight" thing rolling around as it charges.

Here's the watch strap, in case anyone's curious. Not a huge fan of the stock strap.

u/Preston205 · 1 pointr/Watches

I think this is a good option for a cheap leather strap. I own one and it impressed me for the price. Black or brown would look good.

u/Dubner · 0 pointsr/AndroidWear

Had a look at some of them on Amazon. Will the "Fixed Lug" ones fit onto the G watch ?

I recently bought this leather band off of Amazon. It's very affordable and comes in many different Colors. I really like the stylish/classy look it adds to my Steel HR Sport. Thought you guys might be interested.

I got the grey one and use it for my zenwatch 2. Its in related purchases for the 3 on Amazon, so I assume it fits. The grey is very sharp. Not sure about the extra battery, as I have the 2.

Aren't they pretty much standardized and you can get almost any you want?
