I get so tired of the whole "you don't need a bed or any other basic furniture" thing being repeated over and over. Yeah, they are inconvenient to move, but there are ways around that without sleeping on a fucking yoga mat.

A bedframe that folds up flat and comes in various sizes.

A mattress that folds up rather compactly, can be used as seating, and comes in various sizes. Can be padded with a mattress pad and blankets.

Still too much? Get a Japanese style futon.

A desk that can be folded down flat. As a single person, I often eat at my desk.

Or if you don't like to eat at your desk, a collapsible small personal table...just sit on your bed.

They also make collapsible chairs.

I understand the desire to not have much of anything because it's a pain to move, but there's a point where it gets ridiculous. There are ways around it. Yeah, having sex on the floor is better than no sex at all, but I won't be having any sex if I don't get a good night's sleep, and I certainly need at least a few inches of padding more than a yoga mat provides.

They’re about $1,200 USD and up, depending on the features. There are some specialty arcade shops that sell them, or Amazon also has one or two.

I sat on a lovesac (Maybe a fake one) at a friends friends house once and thought it was pretty cool so I'm hoping this is simiar.

Got seating? Nothing sucks more than an apartment without adequate seating. Get nice seating. Sofas, chairs. I just bought a 7' foof chair that arrived today. It's not "grown up", but fuck being a grownup, it's the most comfy thing ever. Like a cross between a pile of thick blankets and a memory foam pillow.

Got a rug? Buy a rug that matches that seating. Helps define a space and brings a room together. Makes it seem intentional.

Got paint? Shit, son, go crazy. Paint the place. Look up what colors work best in big or small spaces. Consider just painting one wall. Also consider painting that wall a color that's gonna match your seating and rug.

Got curtains? Curtains do wonders. Don't make EVERYTHING the same color, but curtains can do just as well as an accent wall for tying a room together. On a tight budget? I am, and curtains can be really damn expensive. I had great success with these and the clips. Then, I got crappy king size sheets from Wal Mart, trimmed them down to size, and used the existing hem at the top of the sheet for the hem at the bottom of the curtain. Bam. As an added bonus, they're thin, crappy sheets, and alone, will let some light in through them for a great look. Mine are in front of the existing blinds for when I want real darkness, but a double layer will do the trick if no blinds exist. Just make sure your curtains aren't TOO heavy, especially if your drywall sucks, and ALWAYS use proper screws for mounting- the beefier the better, curtains get tugged on all the time, and when they're open, all the weight is resting on one or two points of the wire, causing great stress. I've had them rip out of the wall before because I was careless, and then you have to spackle and then there's tons of dust and it's just a mess.

So, your walls are painted, put shit on them! Not too cluttered. If you aren't a "pictures" sorta guy (And who is anymore? Don't we have walls on Facebook for that?), then you can use something else. I got one of those deep gallery frames in black and flattened some birch bark and put it in there. Looks great contrasted against a darker colored wall. Small shaped mirrors can also work, and in some spaces, larger mirrors on the wall can make the space seem bigger. I have a couple small round mirrors of varying sizes clustered around a mirrored clock- Got it all at Target.

Here's a trick to consider: Mount a large mirror on the wall opposite the TV such that you can see the TV in it. This has two benefits: One, watching a movie in the dark, it reflects the light, giving an ambient lighting effect similar to those TVs with the colored back lights that dynamically respond to the image. Two, it allows you to be able to see the TV from anywhere in the room, without facing it- a godsend when you need to squeeze more chairs in a small living room for guests.

Consider getting a head board for your bed. It makes it look and feel more substantial and grown up, plus, you can tie someone to it, if you're into that.

Make sure there's adequate lighting! Makes the place seem bigger, and friendlier, and better.

I'm also fresh out of college, and I enjoy doing this sort of thing. I've lived in my current place for a few years now. My roommates don't always give a shit about this stuff, but I do. I can think of more if you're interested. I'd be happy to post some pictures of any of the suggestions I've listed if you'd like, it's all stuff I've done myself around my place. Also, go wander around IKEA if there's one near you, even if you don't buy from there you can get design ideas.

It's the X Rocker Executive Office Chair, though I don't know any executive that would have if it in his or her office. It is pretty comfortable, though the back sort of protrudes in an odd place. I actually saw it on here and bought it because I liked the way it looked and needed a new chair.

I think that's a cool design for a standing desk if you cut the price in half. For ~$75 I could get this for the monitor and this for the keyboard and mouse.

This may not be the perfect solution for you if you're short on floor space, or if you're more interested in display rather than use; but I've been able to shoehorn three banquet tables into our guest bedroom, with three computers per table, all ready to use at a moment's notice.

The tables I'm using are the wooden type with folding metal legs, like these, but purchased second-hand on Craigslist. Some are a bit ratty, but they hold computers off the ground, so they do the job.

This is what I have.

Very comfortable and stable. I don't use the speakers but they do sound pretty good for how small they are (when you are right next to it). I was lucky and got it when Amazon had it on sale for $60. I'd say it's still worth the full price.

I use a folding table in my apartment. My goals were just to get something cheap with a massive playing surface ... and you can't do much better than a 60 inch round. Fits Mage Knight, Eclipse, whatever you throw at it.

Hi I like this ikea Hyllis shelf hack (so affordable!) they are console/buffet height , and could run from lining to living room and accommodate dining needs in that room and media needs in the living room.

Because your room is relatively small and open, I think one long running shelf system will tie it together nicely without visually chopping up the space, and being very functional and useful. As well as pretty.

You wouldn't have to finish the metal and the wood in the same fashion as in this blog, just use the basic concept. Then your options open up to fit in with your style.

http://www.hometalk.com/8081499/hyllis-ikea-hack?expand_all_questions=1

For example the metal part could be painted or metallic paste wax (rubnbuff) to the finish more in line with some of your Pinterest items. The wood could be white washed, or you could go with white ikea countertops or cut stone if you could find sone light weight and affordable...

You might give turning the sofa then another try. And placing the reading chair near the bookshelves. You might be surprised how you can still enjoy the view and see the tv on the shelves... I'll do a drawing.

Your dining room is under the amount of clearance needed for comfortable use (I hate it when builders do this! It should be a minimum of 9'x9') so I would, if it were me, keep it very simple. That's where I'd put your rug! (You might check late season sales for outdoor rugs at places like a Target and Walmart etc. They could be on clearance and usually have great patterns and colors, as well be easy to clean for a dining area. Then I might do one over size art on the back wall. (I'll do a drawing) then just the dining room furniture. It will be very stylish, but also comfortable and I cramped.

For the cube shelf, (I moved it to behind the sofa in my drawing) you might consider leaning a few pieces of art (differing sizes) and accessories, rather than hanging a framed piece. It makes it more changeable, when you like, but more importantly, it feels less columnar and static.

You might consider an inexpensive swivel chair in a color similar to the reading nook chair. They don't have to match exactly in style or color but just feel related. This gives you more seating, and view out the window too.

https://www.amazon.com/Coaster-Swivel-Hydraulic-Tension--Black/dp/B00PB02ZL6/ref=sr_1_13?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1473635815&sr=1-13&keywords=swivel+chair ?

https://www.amazon.com/babyletto-Madison-Swivel-Glider-Slate/dp/B0077P3U6W/ref=sr_1_12?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1473635899&sr=1-12&keywords=swivel+chair

This also allows the reading nook chair (in my layout suggestion) to be both a reading nook chair most of the time, but when guests are over it can be part of the livingroom seating and work well...

I'm sorry it's hard to read my writing, my drawing app sucks sometimes...

But on left is the long hyllis idea type shelf (this could be hacked with Home Depot materials too, if you don't have an ikea) with the end closest to the dining room being a buffet like shelf and the rest working like a media center.....and the rest I hope is readable. Just ask if you can't read it or have any questions.

Oh I had written putting the tv on a swivel stand. Those are also inexpensive.

http://imgur.com/a/aq4Eu

Art can be diy-ed in expensively. Our sidebar has many resources and links for ideas. As well it has a rubnbuff link. Fir about $7 you could do most or all of the shelf legs. Really nice stuff and affordable.

And like mrs_shrew said! your ideas are great! and should all (any if them) look really well together in your space.

Here is the link for it! The grey is actually called Slate. It's a bit darker in the amazon picture, but it's very true to a slate color like in my pics. If you go with the Ecru, beware that it's not a pure white, more like an off-white or eggshell, according to the reviews. It's $299 with Amazon Prime shipping, if you have that subscription. Which saved us a ton of $$ on shipping from other places too!

How much do you want to have on the table, and what can you have in boxes or such at your feet?

We use one of these for the DM when we game. It works pretty well, but I wouldn't want to have a light and water and paints and brushes and the mini itself on it all at once.

I bought my first LED dryer about a month ago from Amazon after years of going to a salon. Best financial decision I ever made. It was $21.99 and prime eligible so shipping was 2 days. In my experience, the biggest difference between UV and LED (other than price) is the dry time. UV is about 30 seconds to a minute while LED is usually two to three minutes. For me, both are much better than the dry times of your average lacquer. LED used to be the standard for gel. Now, the industry is largely switching to UV, however, most soak off cured gel polishes will work with either. Check the polish details to be sure, but don't fret too much.

Link for my current dryer which I absolutely recommend highly (aside from falsely advertising UV when the one I was sent is actually LED):

Edit: u/misslion has a fantastic idea. Pick out one you like and maybe one you think she'll like (based on colors she wears a lot).

Also, some things to consider:

Does she have a nice, well-lit space to work in? If not, consider a cheap lamp and TV tray type thing. I don't like bright lighting so my house largely consists of 40w bulbs. Buying a lamp to use at my "battle station" to see fine detailing was a huge improvement. My coffee table sits pretty low but my TV is hung over the fireplace. A TV tray allowed me to watch TV and do my nails in a more comfortable position.

Oh my god you're a fucking moron. Did you even read my comment? If you are discussing theory and this is your reply to my comment, you have a fundamental misunderstanding of the theory. The other explanation is you read something incorrectly, which wouldn't be such a problem but then you adopt such a cunt tone in your reply.

In theory

>Anything that can be done with a regex can be done with a finite automaton, and vice versa

Where did I state that recognising an email is impossible with finite automata? If something can be recognised by a finite automaton, it can be done with a regex.

Your original comment said that you cannot do this with regex but can with finite automata, but in theory

>They are equivalent in their expressive power, they both recognise the set of regular languages.

Anybody who has a semblance of an idea of what they're talking about will agree that they are in theory equivalent. So you can do it with regex, in theory.

Your article that you linked but didn't read carefully, states this same fact.

>And can you fully implement the complex grammars in the RFCs in your regex parser in a readable way?

It talks about the practical issues, e.g. being able to do it in a readable way with regex, because in fucking theory they are equivalent in their expressive power.

So, I know it's wayyyy below $1,000 but most of the actual board game tables are built to spec, which takes time. So, what we've done, to hold us over until we can get an actual boardgame table was get [this table] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B014FK550U/) and put [this fabric] (http://www.hookloopoutlet.com/n30mnis.html) on top (which is like a playmat or mousepad material).

It actually looks like a standard wood folding table, like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B014FK550U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_ZU7aBbADNVVZN

Now that the plastic tables are so common you don't see the wood ones as much, which makes sense since they're such a pain in the rear.

I use this table: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DOZTLOO/

It's cheaper, still large enough for most-to-all mahjong junk mats (though you could even go without thanks to the vinyl inset) and it can be folded for compact storage when not in use.

I also bought 4 matching chairs but regular foldable pipe chairs will be cheaper if you don't care about the chairs matching the table.

thanks.. this is the table i got..

do you think if i put down the poker table padding and then the adhesive and velveteen on top it would all stay in place on the table if it's tightly staple gunned underneath the table?

i want to avoid putting adhesive down on the actual wodden top of the table

Based on your description, I'm not exactly sure how big you need. However I bought two of these and they are ok. I wish I had a bit more table space, but I also have space issues. I like that I can just pull one out if it's a small or average sized game.

Edit: Never mind, just saw that chairs aren't an option. Your options are probably really limited.

This is the chair I purchased. Works well and it's a decent price.

I didn't really keep an exact track of the total cost. In just materials it was probably around $300 or so. The playing surface was $115 with shipping. The oak was like $90. The melamine that is under the neoprene was like $25. The pine 2x3s and 2x4s were probably around $60. I also had to buy some tools, clamps, and random other things, though. It probably cost ~$500 total.

The chairs I got from Amazon. They are super comfy for folding chairs. Home Depot has them in the store if you are thinking of getting them and want to try one out before buying.

I had approached getting a single desk with my boyfriend but he seemed pretty adamant against it, unfortunately. I will try to sway him, maybe he'll change his mind or something.

We have the litter box & extra bikes (we have a lot of bikes) stored in the back hall by the bathroom. The cats like the window, which is why it's there.

We're pretty good with kitchen storage. We were actually thinking of getting an Island/Breakfast bar kind of deal with two stools, but I wasn't sure if two desk chairs + two stools + a loveseat would be crazy for the space. I was kind of admiring something like this

I thought about the sofa against the wall, too. Again, I'll have to approach the boyfriend as he seems adverse to giving his desk up.

Thanks :D

I have this monitor and this chair.

If I had to choose, it would be monitor > chair. I stole my monitor off craigslist for $400. Chair I paid full retail.
