Was in the same boat last year. Kids under 3 are free and we had no problem bringing our infant in. Biggest thing is to make sure you bring one of those clear stadium bags as diaper bags are not allowed.

edit: as others have mentioned, bring hearing protection for the little one. Infant ears are significantly more sensitive than adult ears. Our little one hates having anything on her head but she’s been doing really well with these earmuffs.

Ear defenders are a must. Something like this.

u/imnotgrownupyet · 7 pointsr/hsp

Earmuffs made for the shooting range. Best $12 I ever spent. On Amazon

u/booyahbd · 7 pointsr/guns

I have a great pair of slim 3M ear muffs. They hug pretty tight and have a 27db noise drop, but 3M does offer ear muffs with up to 33db reduction if you're willing to get something less slim.

Fantastic pistol choice by the way, as a fellow owner I can say you're going to love it.

u/ChewableTitanium · 3 pointsr/drums

I suggest you buy lightweight and slim gun range rated ear muffs and some IEMs (earphones). When you're trying to practice a certain song you have double isolation and helps to pick up minor differences in the drumming. You can also take off the ear muffs and just leave the IEMs in if you want to just jam out.

u/YLIySMACuHBodXVIN1xP · 3 pointsr/flying

I know you're probably kidding, but to all the new guys out there, hearing protection is just as necessary as anything else when it comes to flying IMO. They come in all shapes and sizes, from the small one-use foam ones (can be bought here) to reusable in-ear plugs (bought here) and finally to heavy-duty, over-ear earmuffs.

u/FormerSecond · 3 pointsr/aspergers

In addition to what /u/bluesam3 said, noise-cancelling headphones and noise-blocking earmuffs seem to block out different frequencies of noise. For instance, with noise cancelling headphones, you won't hear the sounds of cars driving by or air conditioning running, but you might hear them a bit with the earmuffs. On the other hand, the earmuffs will block other noise, like conversations, better.

The earmuffs are cheap - less than $20, so I'd say it's worth buying a pair and seeing how you like them.
You can get them at any sporting goods store, or online. This is the pair that I have: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00467AHXI/

u/Baljit147 · 2 pointsr/guns

Buy these and wear them under something like these.

u/hubbu · 2 pointsr/gamedev

I take it to the next level with ear muffs. It's like I have my own office wherever. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MO86ETM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_y91lzbFBCYXRN

u/LemonScore · 2 pointsr/LifeProTips

Expanding foam ear plugs and a cheap pair of non-battery ear defenders (both worn at the same time). I use this setup and I literally can't hear anything with them both on. It might take a while to get used to the feeling of the foam ear plugs as they can cause a little pain but it passes after a few weeks of regular use.

Someone has already linked to foam ear buds, so here's a link to some cheap ear defenders.

u/Elbie79 · 2 pointsr/lego

People who bought that thing also bought this, which doesn't seem too encouraging :-\

u/jesskamb · 2 pointsr/WaltDisneyWorld

These! I've seen lots of them in the parks around fireworks time. I don't have a toddler so can't say for sure that they work but my friend's son is autistic (very, very, very sensitive to pretty much all loudish noises) and she SWEARS by them.

u/Busty_Beaver · 2 pointsr/doggrooming

Howard Leight by Honeywell 1010928 Thunder Series Noise Blocking Earmuffs, Thunder T1, Headband Style, Dielectric, Nrr 26 Db, Canada Class A https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002VEC3J4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_7ORPCaRvf9Zuj

I grabbed these bad boys off of amazon, they work just fine, I'm mobile so after the bath I use it for the rest of groom for blow out/drying and using the clippervac. I just give them a wipe down with cleaner everyday as they can get dirty and I can sometimes get a zit or two where they touch my cheeks a little bit if I don't.

You can definitely still hear what you need to hear, it just muffles the sharpness of sounds.

u/Evinceo · 2 pointsr/autism

Find these at your local hardware store:

https://www.amazon.com/3M-Peltor-Optime-Earmuff-H10A/dp/B007JZCVAQ

They work fine. In-ear earplugs are also good but take a minute to put in and kids might have trouble using them properly.

u/ksozay · 2 pointsr/beyondthebump

Hope this helps.

I know the 4th is coming. I know it's going to get loud. So I purchased the kid a set of Baby Banz earphones - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01I3ZAEZO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Heard good things, thought we might be able to use them in any situation (e.g. taking a flight, etc.) to help minimize the impact.

Best of luck!

Turns out I received a copy of the "2020" production Sordins by mistake, as an Amazon error. ACE-Instruments is offering to send me an MSA branded version free of charge on rush shipping + a return label for the pair I already have. They've told me that come 2020, all new production Sordins will be sold looking this way.

Should I take the offer? Realistically I like the ones I have now, they work great and are comfortable. As far as I can tell, they are exactly the same as "MSA" Sordins with 5 levels of audio amplification and little to no background noise unless really boosted up on the volume. From a utilitarian standpoint there's no need to send them back at all.

On the other hand, the lizard brain in me wants the "MSA-Sordins" because, you know, the grass is always greener.

Here's a link to a few of the "new production" sordins that they mentioned, what do you think? I kind of want to take the deal just because I'm not going to be able to get the "original MSA-Sordins" anymore after this.

If hearing protection is your highest priority, you need to be looking at the Noise Reduction Rating (NRR). This will be listed on the packaging/informational section (if online). The higher NRR, the better.

Electronic pro, specifically the Howard Leight's, are very popular because you can adjust the noise level to block out gunshots but still hear other sounds. You'll see these recommended everywhere. I own a pair, at pistol competitions, EVERYONE uses them. The downside is that the Howard Leights don't have a super high NRR (NRR: 22)

I also use these Fnova brand earmuffs, which have a NRR of 34. Because there's no electronic amplification, they're much, much cheaper.

For earplugs, I use Decibullz custom molded plugs, which have a NRR of 31.

What I've learned from shooting pistol competitions, especially when shooting around barrels/barricades or indoors, is that the ubiquitous Howard Leights are not sufficient. I double up with the Decibulls and Fnova for maximum hearing protection.

My suggestion is that, unless you really want the electronic amplification, you can buy the Fnova and Decibulls for the same price as one pair of Howard Leights.

i got these a while back they work really well as they are not huge and appear more like regular headphones but are pretty compact.. only problem is its a pain to unfold them..lol but they work.

Hey, Sound_rage:

Firs of all, I'm sure that your trigger sounds extend to many beyond people. Is it anything repetitive or annoying that gets you? For me personally, I know that it's ANY piercing, stochastic noise.

Anti-anxiety medicine hasn't done much for me. I've tried a bit of gabapentin for restless legs syndrome, which also kind of helps if I'm triggered at night, but Valium or Ativan didn't do too much for me in a particularly triggering setting (3+ hour meetings with no option to leave with Mach 5 snifflers).

I'd suggest earmuffs over headphones in the short-term: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DFAK64G/ref=sr_ph_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1481220598&sr=sr-1&keywords=earmuffs These are AMAZING, and I didn't study in a public place really ever before I found them.

Also, I'd maybe suggest giving kava kava (a pacific root-based anxiolytic) a try. It is a little hard to get into because it tastes terrible and is very difficult to dose, but I'd really recommend putting in the time to give it a shot if you're also generally anxious. It lets you study at the same time because it doesn't really dull the mind too much - how great! Here's a good starter brand: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00A7ANUKU/ref=sr_ph_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1481220924&sr=sr-1&keywords=kava

Also check out r/kava for this

And best of luck!!!!!

Thanks for all the info, that's exactly what I needed! Also, have you tried wearing ear protection over your earbuds while mowing the lawn? It would definitely help with sound isolation.

u/DirtyBeautifulLove · 1 pointr/explainlikeimfive

Electronic ear protection.

They work similarly to a combination of Bose Noise Cancelling headphones, traditional insulation based protection and a hearing aid.

Using a simple onboard 'computer'/logic circuit and microphone, the earpro will dramatically reduce the level of loud noises (gunshots, explosions etc) while amplifying quieter noises (footsteps, talking/instruction etc). You can typically hear normal level sound better with electronic earpro on than with your bare ears.

u/jakedasnake2447 · 1 pointr/headphones

Here is what I wear at work, I believe this is the highest level of protection 3M offers. If someone is right next to you and talking, you're still going to hear them, but I would imagine they would be effective in a library environment. If its not enough, you can always put earplugs in first.

Can you maybe make an amazon wish list to give some ideas? Something work related might be good, but something just for fun could be good too.

For example, do you think he could use something like this http://www.amazon.ca/Youngstown-Glove-03-3200-78-XL-Anti-Vibe-Performance/dp/B0000950RG/ref=pd_rhf_se_p_img_2?

Or this http://www.amazon.ca/3M-Tekk-Protection-Folding-Earmuff/dp/B00467AHXI/ref=pd_rhf_se_p_img_2

For something work-ish related.

Or for a little pampering something like this?
http://www.amazon.ca/Dr-Scholls-DRFB7010B3-Vibrating-Foot/dp/B005967L7U/ref=pd_rhf_se_p_img_3

Or this: http://www.amazon.ca/OKeeffes-Working-Hands-Cream-3-4/dp/B00121UVU0/ref=lp_6371091011_1_6?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1418632243&sr=1-6

Or something like a daddy-time box that has things like hot chocolate pouches, his fave candies or other treats like nuts or popcorn, a small book or calendar with nice scenery in it, a book of short stories or one of the chicken soup for the soul books, or a comic book or something, an audio book or 2 he could listen to on his work commute, things that won't nec take up a lot of time for him to use but some new little things to show your appreciation.

Throw out any ideas you can think of and maybe some of Santa's helpers can help you out :)

> Ask her to get some industrial level suction fan so you won't get any fumes ;)

And a set of peltors They even come with radio!

u/gc1008 · 1 pointr/landscaping

Commercial wise I don't think we are there yet, most still have the jacks. These are good but all have jacks, I use Howard Leights for shooting, not this particular one but they have a great fit. I have used the original Peltors about 6 years ago and 3m's for the last couple of years. Too hot in Florida summers, just use plugs now.

People scoff at you when you mention wearing PPE. But you don't realize how much more comfortable you are when using the proper gear to do the work.
This is my set-up:
[pigskin driver gloves](https://smile.amazon.com/Ironclad-General-All-Purpose-Performance-Washable/dp/B00004XOH8/ref=sr_1_6?crid=EIFDH86F2M5D&keywords=padded+work+gloves&qid=1570475804&refinements=p_85%3A2470955011&rnid=2470954011&rps=1&sprefix=padded+work%2Caps%2C164&sr=8-6) when on the push mower, or using hand tools, etc.
Padded palm gloves for the trimmer.
Polarized and clear safety glasses, depending on time of day and sun.
Adjustable earmuffs. Lets me wear a hat on the warmer days.
I also have this mesh faceshield if I go help my parents clear their property. rocks and twigs hurt.
Lastly, I throw on my boots and pants.

I remember the days of firing up the trimmer and flinging dirt and rocks everywhere in flip flops and shorts. My younger days weren't brighter days.

u/gem1n1 · 1 pointr/Seahawks

You can bring your own, just get a set of ear protection like the ones you'd wear if at the shooting range. Like this for $10: http://www.amazon.com/Howard-Leight-QM24-Multiple-Positioning/dp/B001ULCHDQ

It has a 25 db reduction rating, the 30 db reduction model (the L3 model) is $20.

u/diagela · 1 pointr/guns

these do okay for me, your mileage may vary.
